🚀 Hey guys, our Blender Basics course is now LIVE! ⏩ If you're an Animator who's been wanting to learn Blender, we've made this comprehensive course for you www.toanimate.ca/
Really enjoyed your detailed analysis! I was just as blown away by the detail on Pantheon's hand as you were, but I totally didn't catch the symmetry between the mountains and the cloth-- that was an awesome point to catch. I felt the transition work subliminally, but I didn't know *why* it worked, which is a sign the animators got it totally right. Cheers, and have a great rest of your day (and weekend)!
Thanks John, happy you enjoyed the video. I definitely missed a lot watching it for the first time. Going frame by frame you start seeing the magic behind the cinematic.
I really like the theme and how the "the call" manifests in "Direction/Destination" - Kai, Delves into the depths to take rek back to the void (downwards + darkness) - Sej and Olaf - relentlessly push Forward on the mortal plane (Horizontal - frosty, resistance) - Patheon, Pushes upwards to the celestial (Vertical - hyper realism skin tones of panth vs the cosmic ) to take on Sol. Meanwhile Orn, Stays is in his forge (Static, embers, stoic, menacing )
Ornn hasn't made a weapon in millenia. Him forging a sword now, and the Infinity Edge at that, signals that sometime soon, someone will need a weapon forged by a god.
On another interesting note, I believe I heard that Ornn made a god-swear(A very big deal, and he has to keep it) that he never forged unless the worlds were in some form of catastrophic danger.
And that person in need has to be very huge, because the sword is Ornn sized, and Ornn is the same size as Volibear, so very, very, very huge. So the sword is perhaps for himself.
Just as a side note - Volibear was the shape in the clouds and not the bear in the fight. These were the Ersain or somehow spelled like that. They worship the demigod Volibear
I just love it how everyone sees the level of details , characters the background , the beat everything you can watch this many times and still see some stuff you missed....
With the transitioning from Icy mountain to desert... not only do they change the mountain into a piece of cloth, the snow that the wind is blowing by continues as sand in the transition as well. Like.. the wind doesn't stop, just the particles. I think that's so awesome!
This is the first video I've watched of an analysis by a professional / expert of 3D design. Brian points out geometric motifs (if thats the phrase) between scenes, the transitional elements such as blowing leaves between scenes, skin details, animation callbacks to famous films. Prior to watching this video, I never would have considered any of it. Thanks for the video. You have my like and sub, not that its worth anything :)
I loved the pop culture references and talking about how they did transitions. Also yeah I remember watching this for the first time and seeing Pantheons hand skin fold under the pressure from his arm guards and thinking to myself “wait this is an animation though right?” But COULD YOU PLEASE TALK ABOUT THE QUENCHING ANIMATION YOU DIDNT EVEN MENTION IT! HOW DO YOU ANIMATE BUBBLES DISPERSING UNDER WATER???
notice how pantheon puts down his spear to fight the human fighters and picks it back up to fight leona. This is because he hates aspects and the ascended (cause they act like that are above humans) and loves humans, he doesnt want to kill humans but hes happy to slay an aspect
just realized that pantheon (pre-ascension) was attacking with a spear in his left hand and shield in right vs leona, but he was then holding spear in right hand and shield in left when he ascended and flew away at the end. Not sure if it's a lore thing because he ascended or continuity in design error, but thought it was interesting nonetheless.
It might be that Atreus is indeed left-handed while Pantheon, the "god", was right-handed so when channeling the former aspect's power Atreus also has to use his right hand.
It's on purpose, Pantheon wants to kill the gods, not the humans. He don't kill them, simply knock them off with the shield. But Leona is an Aspect, as he is. He can't defeat her as easily and need his weapon to fight back.
@@karlrazowski7339 i get the whole weapon usage thing. I was mostly commenting that when he was fighting Leona and others he had his spear in left hand shield in right. After he fell if mount Targon cliff, and looked towards Aurelion Sol, he flew to the skies with his spear in right arm and shield in left arm, i.e opposite of earlier in same clip. I was wondering if it was a design flaw in video or lore related.
I have absolutely no background in art, design, or animation, but I was wondering if this might be real or just me imagining things: It seems like Kai'sa's visual design shows the contrast between the human side that her friendship with Taliyah brings out, and the battle-hardened woman who's been fighting alone her entire life. In the first shot with Taliyah (2:36), Kai'sa's face seems more childlike - even before she goes wide-eyed looking up at the towering statue. Shots of her face after the fighting starts (3:24, 4:50) lose that childlike cuteness - she doesn't just look sterner, she looks more mature, older, tired even. Her complexion is paler, you can see dirt, blemishes, even slight age lines in her face. Am I reading too much into this?
Love this cinematic and your analyis of it. You picked up on so much I haven't seen before. Can you do an analysis on Diablo 4 cinemtaic trailer from blizzcon 2019?
7:28 I don't know if the question was in regard to the 2 women on screen or... if it was more like "Who are these people at riot, they are crazy". If it's the first one, they are Taliyah and Kaisa. It took me a sec in the beginning to get, that the first one was Taliyah, almost forgot about her lol. Great Analysis, it's awesome to see the video through a professional's POV to catch even more cool details :D
My guess, they have been using Unreal Engine 4, and now probably Unreal Engine 5 with MetaHuman. Then face rig mo-cap and full body mo-cap. The rest is simulated thru Unreal Engine and background motions are done by hand.
I was surprised too he didn't even react to it when he watched it I was surprised, you can see the microscopic hairs on his nose, and the pours in his nose, is insane
Fantastic Analysis. Would love to see your reaction and analysis on K/DA - VILLAIN which is an Official Concept Video. They are pretty much just showing off what they can do here.

Riot games never disappoint with their cinematics
Omg it's Elon Musk!
I'm 99% sure Blur Studio did this. Honor them mostly. :P
Yeah, It's almost always Blur Studio when it comes to Riot.
A little bit with ruination but just because it wasn't hype enough. This was their redeem

it's Ursine. But I'm kinda disappointed in how they showed Voli.
They should've show the one Ashe and Sejuani encountered in the comics

my fav was pantheons hand, the eyes/iris's and ornn's sword going into the water, i really like fluid simulations/animations
The cinematic is hinting an upcoming event and champion for the game (the void) and moving the lore forward probably needed for their MMO.

im convinced Riot found a portal to another world and has been filming these cinematic on location
Honestly at this point riot could probably just slap a filter on some live action shots and I'd be convinced it was animated 😂

the bear wasnt volibear. Volibaer is the one in the sky right after
When Leona puts her shield to the front while she is falling reminds me of Wonder Woman in the first movie when she jumps into the tower
every league of legends cinematic manages to better than the fricken game lol
