well... it kind of is, actually. You see, the monster is a League champion called Rek'Sai. She (yes, it's a she) also appears in Riot's card game, Legends of Runeterra. One of her cards is a picture that is almost identical to this shot, so it's a small easter egg that you accidentally found.

    Great reactions as always!:D
And as for the others league videos i'll try to give some of the lore behind it!
First we got Ornn, The Blacksmith, He's a demigod of Freljord(the cold viking nation of league), the story about him is that he created the mountains and pushed the continents into the place they're now, after that he made a house for himself in a volcano, and live in isolation, He's a very silent god that always pretty much always keeps for himself and he never really cared for humans or other gods, just focus on his work. In the cinematic we see him forging a weapon wich is very important cause he hasn't forged one for thousand of years.
Still in Freljord we have Sejuani(and Olaf is the viking that trew the axe and took that ice rock falling like a champ), She's one of the 3 queens of Flerjord, and her tribe recently got hit pretty bad between battles and a harsh winter, she had to divide her tribe in small groups in hope they will have more chance to survive, but got atttacked by the Ursine tribe.
The Ursine are the bear people but they're not really bears, they're shamans that take the form of their leader, an another demigod called Volibear(the giant cloud is actually him, and yes, he's a champion in game), He's Ornn's brother and they kinda hate eachother after Volibear atacked Ornn's followers that lived at the roots of his mountain(Ornn didn't really care for them at the start, but deep down he liked seeing them tryng to get his approval on their blacksmith's works and was eventually proud of them much so that he would say "what a shame" when he found out, wich is a pretty big deal for him), for a while Volibear and his followers have been more aggressive and weird, so much so that sometimes when some shaman transforms they will become monsters with multiple mouths or eyes still resembeling a bear sayng that this is now Volibear's new form, implyng that somenthing(The Void) has corrupted him.
Kai'sa and Talyah, so Kai'sa i belive you know about so i'll go kinda breif, as a child she was sacrificed to The Void(wich portals have been slowly opening all across the world), but she survived thanks to her symbiote suit and is now tryng to fight it back before it spreads more around runeterra. She met Talyah who was tryng to get back her native and sacred city for her people that was attacked by void creatures called Xer'Sai, wich are the ones you see them fighting, Rek'sai(also a champion :D) is the mother of those creatures and it's the big one coming out at the end that they fight and seal thanks to Kai'sa sacrifice.
Pantheon/Atreus , he's the greek guy, basically Pantheon is a god(Celestial is the correct term, because they're litterally rappresented by constellations) that took the body of a human as it's host, and now he became the "Aspect" of War, until he "died" in battle against a Darkin(basically corrupted demigod) and was stabbed in the chest, as you can see his massive scar, but where the god died, the human lived. Atreus is that human, he belives that the gods are doing nothing for the humans except using them, so he decided to use his powers(He prefers to use his own strenght but sometimes it's necessary to use the powers of the Aspect) to fight and talk with them and to do that he needs to reach the top of mount Targon(biggest mountain and basically the "closest place to the gods") Wich is protected by the Solari(tribe that venerates the Sun mostly) and Leona(And yes she's a champion too, whe was in older cimenatics as well but i think the graphic improvments might have changed her looks abit xD), wich is their leader and also is the Aspect of the Sun, they were also childhood friends before they became aspects. In the end we see Atreus getting shot off the mountain probably by an another celestial, and as he is surrounded by his fallen comrades, he gets powered up and shoots directly for the sky.
Baaasically lorewise what this cinematic tells us is that EVERYONE seems to be getting ready for a massive war and there's hints about the Void everywhere so we're all expecting a Void invasion :D

Another amazing part of this video is that all of the moves that the characters do in the video they actually are skills they can perform in game. If you were curious on the animation side, this video is created by another French Studio, Unit Image. Fortiche, who did Arcane, Rise, and Pop/Stars is also a French studio. This is actually Unit Image's first "League of Legends" cinematic, although they have done some videos for Legends of Runeterra, the Riot Games card game. I believe Riot does work with a lot of studios, using different ones based on the kind of "feel" they want for a video, as well as availability I would guess.

Kinda new to League, but the shot right before the ice lady yells, there was a flash of Volibear roaring at her. Only noticed it when you slowed it down but i think it really brings her yelling into perspective and makes her unwillingness to give up even more apparent, even while facing the forces of a god.

The first one you see is Ornn the God of Forging, he's one of the 3 current in game Freljordian gods, alongside his brother The Volibear & Anivia the Cryo-Pheonix. But the only thing is if he's forging again, it means something major is about to happen.
The ice scene is in the Freljord. It is a beyond frigid region home to 3 very hearty Viking/barbarian tribes lead by 3 sisters. Sejuani the lady riding the boar named Bristle is one of said leaders. This follows a story published by Riot where she is trying to keep her tribe fed through a particularly harsh winter. She even spread her tribe out throughout the region to make it easier cause while she has a survival of the fittest mentality (Less Mouths to Feed), she does want her tribe to survive.
Later on, she finds out that the followers of Ornn were massacred except for 1 by the followers of Volibear (The Ursine seen in here in the cinematic) & a Cauldron made by Ornn that can feed people for weeks with just a sip was stolen. The Ursine did this because Volibear also has a survival of the fittest mentality, if everyone can just sit there sipping on the soup from the Couldron they will grow complacent & weak.
So Sejuani sets out to take the cauldron from the Ursine who call on Volibear who is seen in the clouds above because he is actually MASSIVE.

short summary about lore if you want bro:
-forging the sword is Ornn, one of Freiljord's Demi-Gods. He is preparing for something (he is a character)
-ice place= Freiljord. The woman is a character called Sejuani, she is the leader of 1 of the 3 biggest tribes that are constantly fighting there. The viking with axes is also a character, Olaf, he is part of her tribe (Winter's claw), and they're running out of food thats why that are almost no one with them (most died or deserted), thats why she's is taking the survivors to fight against a group of shamans called The Ursine, that worship a Demi-God of Freiljord called Volibear (also a character), the electric bear guy is a shaman calling upon volibear's power (you can see he's shadow on the clouds).
    - Desert= Shurima. There we see Taliyah (earth bending girl) and Kai'sa (purple girl), taliyah were trying to save her friends and found kaisa in her trip. Kaisa is a human who survived in the VOID (another dimension full of monsters) and now she hunts the void monsters, The monsters that appear from the ground are Xer'sai, they are the brood of another character (the biggest monster at the end) called Rek'sai.
-Greek place= Mount Targon. The greek looking guy is called Atreus. In targon there are God-like beings called the Aspects and they choose certain people who reach the peek of the mountain to be their avatar's. Atreus was chosen by the aspect of war (PANTHEON who is a character) but pantheon died as an aspect, and Atreus HATE all aspects, so he is climbing the mountain to kill all of them. Leona (burning blade lady) is the Aspect of the sun (and also a character) she is there to stop him. After he falls, he calls upon the powers of the late aspect pantheon and uses he's power to "fly" to the peek of the mountain

The second scene is from Shurima, a desert region/kingdom heavily themed from Egyptian folklore.
Here you see Kai'sa & Taliyah, who met when Taliyah leading her people through a territory awash with Void creatures. Kai'sa was a young girl when she & her mother were thrown it the Void by another champion named Malazar. Her mother didn't make it, but Kai'sa survived by bonding to a symbiotic suit that gave her the power to now be a Void-hunter. They meet & Taliyah wants to get her people to a safe place, only problem is it goes through Rek'sai territory filled with her children.
Yes, the giant creature that burst forth from the ground is a female & one of my favorite characters alongside Kai'sa.

I'm not sure if someone said it already, but the polar bear is the god in the clouds, Volibear, those fighting are his shamans. Basically in Freljord, the ice region, there are animal god-spirits: the bear, the cryo phenix, the fire ram (Ornn the blacksmith in the video) and others. Volibear is the god of storms and savagery

One of the best part's of this video is how accurate it is to the game itself. Nearly all of the actions and moves you see are actual abilities and actions that those champions have in the game, with the end segment focusing more on their ultimate abilities. In the game all champions have 3 skills and 1 ultimate, usually an ultimate has a long (2 minute or so) cooldown so its something you use sparingly and only when you really need it. So its cool to see the cinematic play out in a similar way.

I have watched at least 20 reactions to "The Call", but no one pointed out that the sword that Ornn is producing are the characters (Sejuani, Olaf, Pantheon, Kai'sa and Taliyah).
At the start of the cinematic we can see Ornn pouring the "material" (unfortunately i don't know the actual wording in forging so sorry about that)
After finishing the scenes where they "fell" and before they start to rise up we can see the hardening process of the blade by quenching it.
And of course at the end the finished product or simply them that answered to the call aka rose up

  • @protokolprotokol7278
    @protokolprotokol7278 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

The red wookie is Ornn, God of the Forge. The few scenes where he is making a sword is significant because Ornn hasn’t forged a weapons in over a thousand years. The making of a weapon is a sign that war is coming.
The ice place is Freljord. The lady on the boar (Bristle) is Sejuani. She is leading her small group of warriors (including Olaf, the dude who head butt the ice) against the Ursine (the polar bear dudes). Sejuani is part of a much larger group, but they are scattered into many smaller groups to make survival easier (less mouths to feed logic). The Ursine are followers of a god named Volibear (The bear in the clouds). The Ursine are men who can transform into bears and use lightning because they worship Volibear. They stole a cauldron from Ornn that allows any mortal to go a year without food if they drink from it. (Ornn and Volibear are brothers, but they don’t like eachother). The Ursine stole the cauldron because Volibear believes it makes men weak. (Man needs to be fighting constantly to stay strong logic).
The desert area is a region of Shurima. Taliyah (the earthbending lady) and Kai’sa (purple girl) have teamed up recently to fight the Xer’sai (small(er) tunneling monsters from the Void). The Xer’sai are children of the big creature, Rek’sai. In the end, Kai’sa sacrifices herself (not in a dying way but like a freedom way) by leading Rek’sai back to the void while Taliyah seals the tunnel. Taliyah is all about protecting people and Kai’sa is all about fighting void monsters. Kai’sa’s suit is actually a living creature that created a symbiotic relationship with Kai’sa (think venom). Kai’sa was a normal human girl, but she got trapped in the void at a young age and had to fight for survival while miraculously keeping her hair, skin, and makeup beautiful.
The spartan is Pantheon but also has the human name Atreus. (I’m a bit iffy on this side of the lore). Pantheon is a man that was possessed/gained the power of the aspect of war, but the aspect of war died and gave Pantheon his humanity back (or something like that). He is climbing Mount Targon which is like a magical mountain that the celestials and aspects (basically gods) reside. Few mortals are able to reach the top of Mount Targon. Those that do are granted great power. (Reason pantheon god the power of the aspect of war.) The men he encounters by the portal are the solari. They are men who worship the sun. Pantheon drives his spear into the ground because he does not have any quarrel with humans. Pantheon hates the celestials and aspects which is why he is ascending the mountain to fight them. He beats the shit out of the men, but he doesn’t kill them because his fight is with the aspects. The gold lady, Leona appears from the portal to fight Pantheon. (The look he gives her is him being glad he’s finally found the opponent he’s been looking for). Leona is the aspect of the sun and leader of the solari. During the fight, Pantheon is blasted by a giant laser, which is theorized to be a falling star from a being named Aurelion Sol. He is a giant space that created the universe and likely the final boss opponent for Pantheon. The final bit of Pantheon’s part of the video, he is using his god powers to jump back to the top of the mountain which is his ultimate in the game where he can jump halfway across the map and come crashing down on his enemies.

These cinematics are 10X better when you understand what's going on. For that, you need to read the lore or watch Necrit (youtuber) narrate it.
For example, there is a polar bear champion in the game, it's Volibear and he's a demi-god. But that's not him we see in the video but the ursine who are his followers and they call on The Volibear power (sky shadow) to rain down the lightning.

  • @KingKaiju58
    @KingKaiju58 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The 3rd and final scene is a guesswork because there's no official story beforehand like the others.
You follow Pantheon aka Atreus as he climbs to a point on Mont Targon, basically a place where God-like beings like Celestials, Dragons, & other cosmic oddities gather. Worshippers & Other seekers climb the mountain in hopes of meeting some of the beings that rule at the top, those who survive the horrendously difficult climb (weather, steep angles, monsters, & demons) they might become hosts to Aspects of the heavens.
Atreus was the willing host of Pantheon, the Aspect of War. Till through the eyes of Pantheon he saw the gods treat humans like expendable tools.
When Pantheon is killed & his constellation carved from the sky by the Darkin known as Aatrox, Atreus took back control from the slain Pantheon while maintaining his powers & immortality.
With this Atreus is kicked off the Celestials & Aspect's VIP list & them off his. He now wants to banish or kill any being in his mind seeks to rule humanity, Gods or Demons.
So now this story in this cinematic is strange cause sure Atreus knows when the Solari's (worshippers of the Sun) portal to the peak opens, but the Celestials could easily shut it, so my theory is it was a trap set for him. But Atreus wouldn't hurt his fellow humans, so he puts down his spear to signify peace & give them a chance to surrender. They attacked, but he still didn't want to kill them, so he beat them hand to hand. But this brings down Leona, the leader of the Solari & Aspect of the Sun. So now he picks up his spear.
The blast that strikes him is thought to be from Aurelion Sol, a Cosmic space dragon that creates stars & destroys them just as easily. Pantheon held his reigns after he was tricked into servitude to the Celestials. So, was he retaliating for that humiliation? Who knows? But at the end Atreus uses his ult & to jolt into the skies to face his objective. Whoever it is?

First of all, i love your glases, reminds me strongly on Boris from Men in Black (Your beard and hair make it easy haha :D).
About the Cinematic it is basicley a story foretelling about what is to come in the actual season.
First fo all we see ornn, the god of forge smithing a weapon. Is not sounding much but it i s like he didnt forge a weapon in thousands of years, actual he is a peaceful and nice guy and him forging a weapon is basicly some declaration of war. Something big is about to happen, even we still can just guess what it is all about.
Second we see Sejuani on er giant boar Brizzly leading a group of her tribe, the winterclaw on a quest to recive a Cauldron Ornn forged along ago that could feed a person just eating once from ti for a year. To survive the Frosty fangs of winter in Freljord she wants to get it from the Ursine (People who can shapeshift into bears, that actual worship Ornns Brother Volibear who took the cauldron cause he believes it weakens the humans to use a item like it. We dotn see him, actual in the cinematic but basicly his shadow in the clouds. He is tall as a Mountain so yes he is watching froma bove ;) ) The other Viking we see there who breaks the great block of ice with his head is Olaf.
Third we see in the Desert of Shurima Taliya and Kai`sa getting attacked by the Brood of Rek`sai, a beast of the Void that enters the battle later through the big hole. Its said that the Void will be a major part of the events during the season but we dont know yet.
Fourth is teh so called Greek (I was wondering that u called him greek instead of a spartan, just cause everyone refers to him as spartan, funny u know? At all, u arent wrong about that, rpetty obvious!) is Pantheon, the former Aspect of War, what basicly is just another god. Climbing mount Targon with unknown target, he hates other aspects and fights them so Leoan the Wonan he is fighting may be his target btu thats just a guessing. While fighting the get hit by a meteor as it seems, from color and the fact it looks like a meteor we can guess it may be the star forging dragon god Aurelion Sol who interfers here. Long story short the aspects fucked him over, imprisoned him and he wants revenge. The seals holding him gets weaker cause Pantehon aka the Aspect of War was killed and "the Greek" is his human form and has just a spark of its former power left. So in short we can guess Aurelion gets free and just goes ramapge on the entire world as he stated in his story: If he gets free he will let the stars rain down on the world as revenge.
I think i didnt miss much and called out every champion you coudl see in the cinematic.

    • @DeGBitch
      @DeGBitch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A few things to add.
Sejuani's boar is called Bristle (not brizzly).
Kai'sa's armor is a void symbiote, a living creature that has attached itself to her.
Taliyah and Kai'sa were looking for a place called Xolan. It was supposed to be a safe place, away from the creatures of the void, but it wasn't. This is where the scene starts, Taliyah realising that it was just a dream. When Kai'sa is falling, she is attempting to bait Rek'sai back into the void, knowing she will be trapped there as well. Taliyah pulls down the cliff to block the way back, at least giving herself time to escape, but you can see the sadness as she knows Kai'sa won't be able to return. Will Rek'sai follow into the Void? Will Kai'sa be able to escape the Void once more? Will Taliyah ever find a safe home for her people?
The Greek styled character is known as Pantheon. Pantheon is the God of War. Pantheon took over the man that we see (his name is Atreus) making him the Aspect of War. The woman that fights him, is the Aspect of the Sun, Leona. The thing they are fighting in front of is the Gate of the Aspects. It is only opened to welcome a new aspect. The questions this leaves us with is 'why is it open?' and 'why does Atreus/Pantheon want to get to it?'

the thing that really sells it for me is how in every up close shot you can tell the meticulous detail the animators went into, how lifelike all the champions are in this. one of my favorite shots is when Sejuani is getting up out of the snow, and the way the snow fell off of her, it just felt so natural, all the up close shots of the faces you can see pores in the characters faces, they look like real people, not cartoons, not even animated... and the biggest thing that Riots producers have absolutely nailed, its facial expressions to match the scene! they just get it right! from arcane to this too they know how to make their characters facial expression just seem so natural and real!

Well, about the lore I can tell some.
    1st about the ice land,
    Its called Freljord.
The situation we see is when Sejuani a leader of her tribe is taking her people to the cauldron of Orn (the furry blacksmith we see between, but about him later).
It is said that those who drink from the cauldron don't have to eat for a year and they (Sejuani and her warriors) just failed to hunt mammoth, so they are hungry. What stopped them were followers of Volibear, one of 3 demigods and brother of Orn. They belive that cauldron makes humans weak, so they took it for themselfs. Volibear is the giant bear you can see after his follower shot lightning into the sky.
    Next, mountains.
This place is called mount targon.
Here pantheon (the guy with spear and shield, at that time with the name of atreus) was climbing to the portal that took you to the top of mountain, where aspects were. Aspects are like chosen people, representation of the part of live.
He wants to literally beat the *** out of them as he believes that they don't care about humans. At the top we see solari, normal people, believers of sun. They want to stop him, we can see pantheon putting his spear into the ground as a peace symbol, they are mortals so no reason to kill them. After he defeat them, we can see Leona (shield sword girl) aspect of sun descending mountain. That's when he takes the spear back, as he see his target. This scene is done before he became Pantheon the aspect of war. Funny that he became what he hates.
3rd scene is in the desert of shurima.
We can see taliah (earth bender) and kai'sa (from warriors animation and the same as in KDA) taliah is there to restore the Village we can see and restore the face of "faceless God" one of ascended people from great darkin war.
Kai'sa joined taliah because she new she will be moving through rek'sai (mother of the brooth, large monster that jumped later on) territory.
We can see both girls fighting rek'sais brooth and after their mother felt few of them die, enraged he appears to avenge her children.
There is small scene easy to miss when kai'sa knows thst she has to bait her from taliah and while she looks at her companion, taliah realises what she is about to do. We can see her shock, and kai'sas acceptance.
After reksai appeared, she baited the monster back to the tunnel and taliah destroyed the figure of the faceless god, the same whose face she was supposed to restore, just so she can stop the brooth from comming out to the village.
    Now, the silent character.
    Orn, one of 3 demigods
    Demigod of craft.
What you have to know is that he rarely create anything. Once he made a fork for himself and after not liking it, he threw it out. Later on king of merfolks was using it as his weapon.
Here we can see him craft a weapon. Last time he did it, was in the darkin war. At the end of video we can see more than one weapon in the background.
    What does it mean?
    War is comming.

      @Sherberythrill 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Just a slight correction to the Targon part.
This is AFTER Atreus hosted Pantheon: you can tell because he has the scar on his chest from the fight with Aatrox. The blow killed Pantheon and erased his constellation from the stars (Or ejected him from his body, at least. Not sure whether you can truly "kill" Celestials the way mortals are killed because they represent a concept, which is hard to truly destroy. Especially War.) A later fight between Atreus and Aatrox revives the War Aspect's constellation and lets him be able to use some of the War Aspect's powers. He wouldn't have been able to perform Man Drop, otherwise. 😊
After that he then, as you said, took up a crusade against Celestials; who he believes just use humans. Whole tribes revere each of them, but what do they actually "get" from doing so other than one poor sod becoming a possessed host?
Even Aurelion Sol describes them as "dispassionate and contributing little to existence"... and that's coming from a creature who cares only for the stars he created. 🤣

Something I don't see praised enough in this cinematic are the skin morphs. They're not just incredible, I would have called them impossible before seeing this video - or at least impossible without an inhuman number of manhours. The way the back of Pantheon's hand wrinkles when he pushes down on the cliff as he climbs and the bridge of Sejuani's nose when she yells. We like to call things "photoreal" these days, but if you keep an eye out, you'll notice those types of biological details are extremely rare; it's just impractical to represent the individual interactions between fat, sinew and muscle.

As an former overwatch obsessed person, i completely disagree with you. And ive been around since og days and left when role lock was added, because the game had officially died.
No. Overwatch is in your face with story. Hamhanded and well written are not the same.
Lets take a look at the dragons cinematic. It was decent, but there was no wow moment, we all knew from the get-go that genji was the brother of hanzo, and the reveal was lackluster. It was trying TOO hard to tell a story, and in turn, made it cliche.
This whole cinematic tells several stories and much deeper all without uttering a word.
The only overwatch cinematic that comes close is the last bastion.
THAT was a good cinematic. Honor and glory was also well done.
Rise and shine? Meh. Reunion? Meh. Alive? Only good the last 10 seconds. Hero? Meh. Infiltration? Meh, but at least better with the story telling.
Overwatch has a tendency to be to in your face with story telling and treats you like youre 5 with the narrative.
Theres a reason the quote "show, dont tell" is big in writing. Overwatch fails at that. Badly.
They simply dont hold a candle to this cinematic, or awake, or alive, among plenty of others.
