The deckmate is better than almost all other kick stands because it can hold the steam deck at wider angles! You can use it to prop the steam deck A LITTLE while you rest it on something while you play - not all the way upright like the killswitch!
One thing you can do to re-use the deck mate components that have the adhesive on it. You can peel off the adhesive clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and then get some heavyweight rated double sided tape and then you're good to go. I've been doing that with phone mounts for years.
I really like the DeckMate, I got the more basic 'essentials' kit because I didn't need the VESA mount, and it's great. It did kinda mess up my vinyl teardown skin around the edges where it clips, but I probably could've prevented that by being more careful during the installation. Even with the slight cosmetic damage to the skin, I still love it. I also love that the creator has released the files to 3D print parts of the system yourself. Definitely a project worth supporting.
same, i think the most id ever get is a skin maybe, and even still i’m on the fence about getting a deck seeing as my vita which has been my main handheld for nearly 10 year at this point is still going strong
The Deckmate is actually one of the things that made me really want a Steam Deck, besides its capabilities and how much I've loved streaming Steam games to my RP3+. The accessory ecosystem for the Deck is awesome, and this exemplifies it, especially being able to attach a battery and store SD cards.
Everything about this channel is first class, $3.00 dollars a month to be a Patron (hint hint).... Our family just found this channel and LOVE it! Today we bought a Anbernic RG351V....
I love that the files are available to print at home. It means it should be reasonably easy to design even more clip on accessories for it. After my Deck arrives I might run the set off on my resin printer and see how it goes (I'm a little concerned because resin prints are generally a bit more brittle than FDM prints).
Thanks! You are using the exact anker powerbank that I have, so it's good to see you've done the testing for my unit before I pulled the trigger on the deckmate.
Honestly I don't know why, but this is super nostalgic to me. Growing up with a GBA when I was a kid, I remember putting on a ton of accessories on it - it seems we've come full circle with this :D
You could totally use the VESA mount on the back of a monitor that has access while it has a stand to basically turn the steam deck into an all in one computer (granted a couple wires) at will and that is kind of fascinating.
5:15 - I understand the confusion, but that's really meant less for a random monitor arm, and more for mounting on your custom robot butler so you can just request that it give you your steam deck whenever you need it.
I love the idea of the deckmate. It's great for people that don't have their Steam Deck in a protective case like the dBrand KillSwitch which is what use. The only problem is that I can't put the deckmate on my Steam Deck if it is in a protective shell/caselike ther KillSwitch. And I don't like that I would have to stick a permanent adhesive on the back of my battery bank or the back of my Steam Deck. So, I have to use another device called the Steam Deck KillSwitch Case Universal Battery Mount. The mount has the same lock design so that it can attach to the back of the KillSwitch like the KillSwitch's kickstand clip does which is fantastic. I can put my battery bank inside the battery mount and I can velcro it tight to the Steam Deck. Then, once I decide I'm done using my battery bank, I can take it out no problem. No need to worry about any adhesive. I would recommend this for all who use their Steam Deck with the KillSwitch re-design model case
Neat. I boondock/live in an RV, and my bed is a bunk style bed up near the ceiling of my vehicle. Mounting the wall mount on the ceiling could be pretty cool - I could reach up and attach it without getting out of bed, and I could watch internet videos or grab another controller and play some games before falling asleep. I like it.
I got this system specifically because I had the D Brand leather skin. All the other systems covers the skin and it damaged it. The Deckmate did not damage my skin.
By making a main DeckMate component with adjustable deck mounts (or DeckMate main part for other devices) it could be used to fit onto other devices and then that device could benefit by using the accessories.
I like innovated solutions to items such as the Steam Deck. I can see years in the future, somebody looking behind an old big screen TV and seeing a Steam Deck VESA mounted to the backside as the computer...:).
One kind of cool use case would be if you had a (admittedly kind of rare) Monitor that used a different mount for the stand instead of the vesa amount on the back. you could screw the vesa mount on the back of the monitor and make a kinda iMac all in one gaming computer powered by a steam deck.
Great video! This device isn't for me, I just don't see a point in it - attaching a battery pack to the steam deck is going to make it really heavy and uncomfortable to use for long. The kick stand might be useful if you're going to set it down and use a controller. You might as well just use a dock and hook it to a larger screen at that point though in my opinion.. Just my two cents, options are good though.
i printed a full kit with the intent to buy a nice injection moulded version if i liked it . printed in PETG it was far more durable than i would have expected. While i didnt like using it on the steamdeck, its the best "mount your phone and electronics to stuff' system ive used. my printed Deckmate set is now almost exclusively an iPhone promax mounting kit.
JSAUX does have a metal dock adapter that connects to the official steamdock that lets you use cases with the steamdock I have it and it works great. Also I feel ya on the on the Hawaii issue on shipping batteries I am in Alaska and same issue no ship on battery backups
I can very see some manufacturers make custon battery formats for these kind of accessories ! Ones that are designed to fit well around ytour hands and with weight that are adapted. Or even better, the 3D printing community will probably have custom all-in-one shells with m.2 and battery combo !
I've been using the DeckMate for a couple of months now and generally I like it. However, the direction you have to push in order to mount the kickstand (up) comes with a pretty huge drawback. If you are playing a game on the deck and have the kickstand flush with the device you'd like to set the device on a table or something by using the surface to extend the kickstand, the result is usually the kickstand falling off. It's so frustrating!
I recently got the deckmate myself, and love being able to carry around my SD cards as well as the kickstand! Though I have two issues with it.. 1. The kickstand already broke after maybe a couple of days. It still attaches, but once I take it off, the spring mechanism comes apart, and I can't put it back together. 2. I *maaay* have lost the box with the rest of the items lol. Hopefully, I can find that, but this is just a personal issue nothing on them ofc lol
Hey @nexus71c, shoot me over an email and I’ll get you a replacement for free! We had a batch with a manufacturing issue and have corrected the problem. If your curious about what happened you can check out the article on our help center in the website (it won’t let me post the link, but happy to email it to you if you’re curious)
This seems pretty cool but I am not a fan of how it damages any skin you'd have. I ordered the d brand case, which has a slot in the back for a stand, but I'm hoping they'll come out with something for a battery pack, which would be the ideal add on for me.
I just want to keep 1 or 2 micro sd cards attached to the original case. What would be a good solution? I was thinking initially Keychain attached to the case zipper.
This is a weird question but can the deck mate fit on the kill switch… it probably doesn’t does it because of the back of the kill switch and the bulkiness
I like the ideas of these things but I honestly don't really use them much, like at the moment, I just have my deck housed in the dock on my desk and I just pick it up whenever I want to play and then put it back, I don't think I'd have much a use case for this but I like the idea :D I will say, I would like a windows device that is similar to the Steam Deck experience but maybe a little smaller, although when I'm playing the Steam Deck it's not a huge bother because the ergonomics are so good but my only thing I dislike about the Steam deck is the portability. Wanting to take it everywhere but not wanting to take up all that space is rough.
@@RetroGameCorps Thanks for the reply. Will you give your thoughts on comparisons with the Pimax? As well as the ram bait and switch on whether it actually affects skyline performance?
The giant battery back strapped to the back really demonstrates how the concept isn't quite viable and how far you have to go to try to force it to be practical. Just get a frigging laptop and pair it with a controller...
I think a phone mount would be a nice addition. I had times while on travel where I was in the middle of some gaming and a flight announcement or gate change popped up and it was a little inconvenient to dig out my phone to look at it.
I'm too much of a purist for this stuff. I don't even like putting a screen protector on my devices. No skins, no stickers, and definitely no clip-on tumors. :P
No way would I trust adhesive to stick my $700 machine on anything. Time will always affect it, so it is a guarantee that your Steam Deck will break one day.
The deckmate is better than almost all other kick stands because it can hold the steam deck at wider angles! You can use it to prop the steam deck A LITTLE while you rest it on something while you play - not all the way upright like the killswitch!
I don't know why but I love the idea of wall mounting the Deck.
I personally don't have the DeckMate, but the creator has been super cool and transparent with posts on reddit. Glad to see it taking off for him.
One thing you can do to re-use the deck mate components that have the adhesive on it. You can peel off the adhesive clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol and then get some heavyweight rated double sided tape and then you're good to go. I've been doing that with phone mounts for years.
Good idea!

It doesn't look like anything I'll ever buy but I'm glad to see so many companies supporting the Steam Deck!
same, i think the most id ever get is a skin maybe, and even still i’m on the fence about getting a deck seeing as my vita which has been my main handheld for nearly 10 year at this point is still going strong
@shaungreer3350 hope you ended up getting one. Absolutely love mine tbh
The Deckmate is actually one of the things that made me really want a Steam Deck, besides its capabilities and how much I've loved streaming Steam games to my RP3+. Ahhhh great review!! Thanks Russ, if anyone has any questions, I’m here to answer them too! -Siri

I love the deckmate, I mount an enclosure for an m.2 1T drive to expand the memory. It works great. I also mount an external battery too.
Thanks! You are using the exact anker powerbank that I have, so it's good to see you've done the testing for my unit before I pulled the trigger on the deckmate.
Great breakdown of DM features, thanks.
glad that someone like you makes those kind of videos. keep going!
I think having it wall mounted is an interesting alternative to a dock, and lets you show it off better as well.
I got the DeckMate a few months ago and it's great! I use it with an external SSD that has a windows image on it. Great for playing GamePass PC games!
I was at the fence at first. but after getting it I cannot recommend this system enough. great product and great costumer service.
taking notes for when i buy one unit for my bday in the summer :)
I don't have a steam deck, but I think the vesa mount looks awesome. I'd use it to connect a second monitor but keep the deck at eyeline
Honestly I don't know why, but this is super nostalgic to me. Growing up with a GBA when I was a kid, I remember putting on a ton of accessories on it - it seems we've come full circle with this :D

5:15 - I understand the confusion, but that's really meant less for a random monitor arm, and more for mounting on your custom robot butler so you can just request that it give you your steam deck whenever you need it.
so now there are 3 products allowing you to attach stuff to the back
Man, the Kickstand and Battery combo is an absolute unit.
I love the idea of the deckmate. It's great for people that don't have their Steam Deck in a protective case like the dBrand KillSwitch which is what use. this is a neat accessory, tempting to get for myself, honestly.

what a great video! I have bought an ayaneo 2 and I'll still buy a version of the deckmate for the ayaneo 2!
One kind of cool use case would be if you had a (admittedly kind of rare) Monitor that used a different mount for the stand instead of the vesa amount on the back. you could screw the vesa mount on the back of the monitor and make a kinda iMac all in one gaming computer powered by a steam deck.
When you think the steam deck is too slim and petite so you keep adding stuff to it to bulk it up cuz lord knows it needs it
Fun fact this was created and sold before the Killswitch was even announced..
The wall mount adapter I'd use more for mounting it to the side of a Ikea cabinet, somewhere nice and secure for it to sit while it charges
Great video! This device isn't for me, I just don't see a point in it - attaching a battery pack to the steam deck is going to make it really heavy and uncomfortable to use for long. I'm loving my deck mate
I so want to get the Steam Deck but have a feeling a new version is coming out soon
I got an adapter and puck (a la carte) so that it would still fit in the official dock and case.
It's a great setup.
They now started selling the universal adapter compatible with the killswitch
JSAUX does have a metal dock adapter that connects to the official steamdock that lets you use cases with the steamdock I have it and it works great. Also I feel ya on the on the Hawaii issue on shipping batteries I am in Alaska and same issue no ship on battery backups
My man deserves the Soul Stone after that sacrifice.
The use case I thought of (but haven't tried yet) is to put a windows install on an external ssd and mount it with the deckmate.
I definitely want the kickstand.
Yes but can it attached my 6inch sub to it ??
I can very see some manufacturers make custon battery formats for these kind of accessories ! Ones that are designed to fit well around ytour hands and with weight that are adapted. Or even better, the 3D printing community will probably have custom all-in-one shells with m.2 and battery combo !
I can definitely see a few Steam Decks being mounted on bathroom walls with this.
This is actually really neat, If I had a steam deck I'd totally nab one
Hello, are you gonna do a video about the new version of AMBERELEC (Panda Conspiracy) for the Ambernic devices? Thx
Idk where you got the idea that you can only charge the deck with USB-C to USB-C. The steam deck will charge with any cable/charger.
Love this video and all the content! What batter pack was that? I’ve been looking for a good one and I definitely trust your opinion!
I've been using the DeckMate for a couple of months now and generally I like it.

duct tape.. just kidding!
the actual idea with the vesa mount is to make your steam deck into an aio pc, by mounting it at the back of a monitor.
Will it damage the console without skin? From attaching and removing. Will it scratch?
Can you please review the JSAUX modcase in a future video? I am really curious about your opinion.
This is a weird question but can the deck mate fit on the kill switch… it probably doesn’t does it because of the back of the kill switch and the bulkiness
Like does that little square part attach to the back of the kill switch case?
I like the ideas of these things but I honestly don't really use them much, like at the moment, I just have my deck housed in the dock on my desk and I just pick it up whenever I want to play and then put it back, I don't think I'd have much a use case for this but I like the idea :D I will say, I would like a windows device that is similar to the Steam Deck experience but maybe a little smaller, although when I'm playing the Steam Deck it's not a huge bother because the ergonomics are so good but my only thing I dislike about the Steam deck is the portability. Aaah I want one of these but once shipping and currency conversion is factored in, it's just too expensive for me.
Is it compatible with groin attachments?
The vesa mount
could be used by someone disabled that can not hold the weight of the steam deck.
will the Steam Deck with Deckmate attached fit in the case sent by Valve?
Yes…mine does.
Can you switch to Desktop mode on Windows 11? I know it can on Steam OS.
I know im late, but it doesnt fit on the valve dock with this? Selling point for me
Can someone please help , how do you get batoreca to work docked to a TV .
When is the Razer Edge review coming?
I didn’t get sent a review unit and so I’m waiting on my pre-order, it won’t ship for another week.
@@RetroGameCorps Thanks for the reply. Will you give your thoughts on comparisons with the Pimax? As well as the ram bait and switch on whether it actually affects skyline performance?
I wish they added SD slots to the adapter.
I think I'll stick with the kill switch case for now
Does it work with the steam deck oled?
Yep, it all fits perfectly!
Where can I buy that leather skin?
It’s from dbrand, I’ve done a whole video on it. I wasn’t thrilled with it in the beginning but I’ve grown accustomed to it now.
The giant battery back strapped to the back really demonstrates how the concept isn't quite viable and how far you have to go to try to force it to be practical. Just get a frigging laptop and pair it with a controller...
reminds me of the old dmg accessories
The should be mounted vertically. Not horizontally.
In before everyone else, love your videos!
GG for being the first
I think a phone mount would be a nice addition. I had times while on travel where I was in the middle of some gaming and a flight announcement or gate change popped up and it was a little inconvenient to dig out my phone to look at it.
Steam os laptop with integrated controller please
Yooooo aliens vs predator 2010!!!
No international shipping, that's a real shame. =(
I'm too much of a purist for this stuff. I don't even like putting a screen protector on my devices. No skins, no stickers, and definitely no clip-on tumors. :P
They should design one that can accommodate leather skin.
I can't imagine wanting to make my deck heavier or bulkier.
This is getting creepy soon your gonna attach legs to the Steam Deck 😂😂😂
No way would I trust adhesive to stick my $700 machine on anything. Time will always affect it, so it is a guarantee that your Steam Deck will break one day.
Here before time it’s self
Cut it out
First
When will steam deck 2 and ayn odin 2 release?
