No, it's like then getting motion sickness in the air. That woukd be like a fesr of drowning, which Percy actually got for part of the hoo series, so yk. Just a more accurate comparison.
The fear of heights is fine cuz phobias are irrational and can't be controlled (like Percy getting a fear of drowning). Motion sickness however... Easily can.

@@hitme3454 yeah. however this comment was in reference to a moment within this video about how Tyson got sea sickness in the movie.

The moment they mentioned Silena on the boat I knew I’d never forgive them. It’s like Harry killing Nagini in chamber of secrets.
@Eliana Volfson yeah that’s my point. That revealing Silena early is the same as if Harry had killed Nagini in book two and both actions spoil the ending
Definitely. If that would have happened in Harry Potter movies I would have gone crazy. And they literally just destroyed silena by showing her on the boat. What worse can happen in the movies? They might even kill Percy in the last part.

the best was an interview with the cast and they didn't know anything about the books. a fan joked about blue food and all of them were so confused and asked how that was even significant which shows none of them bothered to read the books. the best part is when the actor for tyson (who read the books) realizes their mistake and fucking walks off. but one reason they didn't do a third was because logan lerman refused to continue

Haven’t even watched the essay but the intro already got me lmao
Also lukes ship in the book was a big cruise ship if I’m remembering it right, and in this movie it’s a small yacht 😅
yea true it was a cruise ship
Yeah Princess Andromeda was a cruise ship
Actually, the Cruise ship is actually much more important than we think it is because its kind of a big thing in Trials of Apollo
Ain't gonna spoil but have you ever wondered where Luke got the 'sponsors who gave the money to buy a goddam cruise ship?
And it had mortals on it, and they slept in a room all night.
To be fair, renting a cruise ship is prohibitably expensive. I completely understand and support that downgrade.
Grover was actually also meant to be on his own quest at the beginning, as at the end of The Lightning Thief he went out to look for the god Pan. This then led him to getting captured by the cyclops, which Percy was having dreams about due to the connection that Percy and Grover had. Those dreams and knowing Grover was in danger was why he wanted to go on the quest in the first place, to save his friend and also the camp, not because he wanted to be seen as the hero.
Ares in actual Mythology, was probably the most caring to women compared to all the other olympians. Especially his daughters
Yeah he was one of the patrons of the amazoms amd his daughters were queens of the amazon.
i think Hades has a decent shot at that title as well, as long as you don't pay attention to all the satan allegory people undeservedly smear on him
@@femthingevelyn True, he probably has the best relationship out of all the gods
@@Sevren_ hes also arguably the god who has done the least bad stuff. the only real nasty move he pulled was the seeds
I think Riordan's take still works though. I can't find any myths concerning Ares that portray him as caring towards women. It's more that there aren't many myths that involve him being particularly nasty towards women, compared to the likes of Zeus or Poseidon. It's also interesting to note that despite the Amazons being descendants of Ares and worshippers of him, they never seem to have any major military victories in the myths they appear in, if at all. So I think Riordan's take on Ares still definitely works.

There was one time when I was discussing with a friend how they would have continued these films with Luke gone. And... well, seeing how they made Hades the bad guy in the first movie and how they heavily implied that Luke was dead, we came to the conclusion that they would have probably aged up Nico (of course) and make him the villian. I bet that the idea was to make him and evil lord who brainwashed Luke and whose sole motivation is to see the gods fall. I have no proof, but I have no doubt.
I think that would happen If The 3 movie Was made

Don't forget that they didn't have the Mist in the first one. In the beginning, that woman sees Poseidon walk out of the ocean in giant form(also, why have him walk to Olympus? I love the way that in the Percy Jackson series each character gets their moment to shine. Rick Riodran gives each character a moment at some point to explain why they do the things they do, what or who they care about, and their motivation. The movies just completely ignores all of that.
Also, this movie not only goes against the book, but also simple logic.
Especially Clarisses character😞
I hate when people say "It'S nOt A bAd MovIe JuSt DifFErenT fRoM thE BoOks."
@@IvvyExists145 I mean I understand that to a certain degree. Some great adaptations like Clockwork Orange, Game Of Thrones (season 1-6) or The Shining deviate from the books and are still great.
But the Percy Jackson movies arent even particularly good even if you haven't read the books. The first one is okay at best and they ignore a ton of important context and plot points for the series as a whole. It's like if you just cut out all mention of Voldemort in the first Harry Potter movie, and then he ressurected and killed Cedric in the second one.
@@tortoiseoflegends4466 It's worse than that, cause it wasn't only Kronos. Imagine watching that Harry Potter movie but they also removed Malfoy, then decided to bring him back for and give him chemistry with Potter, they removed the Thalia, and Grover's reason to be so protective of Percy, then mentioned her when they realized "oh she is actually important to the story oop." We don't have a problem when you change the story, the problem lies in making it worse and literally unfinishable because key plot pieces are just missing now.
It also annoys me about how they got Kronos's story completely wrong, not just because its in the books, but because its an actually Greek Myth that happened. It's already a Greek story that happened. It wasn't just made up by Rick, Rick got it from another true source.
Too true for my eyes 😞😞😞😞

This is what ticks me off about Hollywood and the movie industry. You've got a director meeting up with the creator of the books they wanna adapt into a film. This can go one of two ways:
A) The director listens to the author and makes sure they do everything right
Or
B) The director throws everything out of the window and into a flaming trashcan and just basically rewrites everything terribly and glues on the title in hopes that it'll sell good

As a huge fan of Percy Jackson here’s what I have to say abt this. In my 5th grade class we read the first book and I was hooked. I LOVED it! Then when our class watched the movie we sat there disappointed. They left out SO many awesome scenes! Especially with Annabeth being more like Clarisee. Then I watched this and was so sad that they didnt include Percy and Annabeths relationship growth. I love how they subtlety throughout the books start to like each other. This didn’t even include them having much interaction. And I feel like no one is on my side with this but the series cast is messed up. The plot will probably be great but let’s be honest, all of the fans will have trouble picturing this cast with the characters.

My friend told me that there was two Percy Jackson movies and I was so exited until I watched it and…
I could understand why he didn’t want to read the books.
The movies literally discourage people from reading the books.
The Disney plus series better be good, because I’m never watching the movies again.
even of the show isn’t that good it’s still be better then the Perry Joanson movies
Just like the first movie man. Cutting off parts that would affect later in the timeline.
@@almattanglad I didn't even know there was movies until two years ago.
I actually had faith in the second movie back then, don't know why the hell, but I went to the movies to see it. I was so fed up during the whole movie and when they made Kronos rise, I straight up walked out, and I wasn't the only one. I remember very fondly how me and a handful PJO Fans were outside the movies venting out frustrations to each other.
TBH in my opinion this movie makes the Cursed Child look decent
Yeah, i agree totally
And the cursed child makes the Sequels seem good. Which is an usually impossible feat.
@@glacierlegion9439 star war sequels right? If it is they're still both not canon
That is a FEAT
the Fantastic Beasts movies make the Cursed Child look decent.
The problem with some of this changes, is that they ended up contradicting greek mythology. I mean, is not like the myths are totally right in the books, but they are close enough that even if you are familiar with them you won't notice the contradictions right away. But the movies just pull up a Hercules and rewrite the mythology for its own sake.
To be fair, it [rewriting mythology] started so long ago that now I'm just doing facepalm each time and just drop watching.
Like all those times when Hades was made evil bcuz he's god of underworld (and not even the death incarnated, please!) or when gods of any mythology are such caring about people in general and all so good (except of gods of underwolrd), like please... when did Zeus and Hera become total family appreciating persons with everything they both done?
I kinda forgive this entire shit of plot twisting the mythology for Marvel/DC comics bcuz it can be perceived like something entirely different but not this kind of stuff
@@depressed_firefly It happens because Zeus' image is kind of close with the classic image of the Christian God (old white man with a white beard living in the skies). And people don't want to associate that image with questionable behaviour, especially in a kids movie, so Zeus is always the good guy. But I agree that its very unfortunated, because it robs theses stories of some very interesting ideas.
@@leonardocerqueiradias6168 yeah, I know but it's still bothering me, since my childhood when I started to learn mythology. How were certain goods villainized, like Hades/Pluto, Loki, Hel and bunch of other gods who didn't fit "good" imagery very much or just so happened were rulers of the death lands. Mostly it happened when Christianity became so popular that certain myths became told in another light which lead to another perception of certain gods - some became more "good", some became worse.
One of the best images in TV and movies for Hades for me remains Hades from Xena. I liked this imagery of him a lot. I mean, A LOT. Pretty much how it was in mythology originally, not bad at all, just so happened to be the god of the underwolrd.
@@depressed_firefly I get it. It bothers me a lot too.
@@depressed_firefly loki is the trickster god and he tricked another god to kill his brother with a dart made out of mistletoe
I have faith in the disney plus show because rick Riordan is writing the script and has control of casting and story. He has stated he wants to make it the most accurate adaptation possible. And he is casting for the ages in the books. I'm honestly very excited!
Casting is terrible lmao
My friend introduced me to the series with watching the movies. At the time, I didn’t think the movies were half bad, and I couldn’t understand why my friend was so mad. The, I read the books. Wow. Now I understand. Great video!
I imagine the creators of the ATLA movie and the POJ movies are besties and they enjoy destroying what we love
I'm pretty sure Kathleen Kennedy would love to join there club
@@GreenTomas2372 Don't forget about Rian Johnson and JJ Abrams.
The Dragonball Evolution director is probably there someone too
Easy fix for the Luke riding the wave scene is that Luke could have used some flying shoes that he took from Hermes, but even then it doesn’t fix the issues with the plot
another thing that is awful about the movie is in the bull seen Annabeth falls down and is all like:pErCy ,annabeth wouldn’t need Percy to help her up
Annabeth was totally useless in this Movie

‘Don’t walk on my roof’ was my favorite part of the film 🤣🤣
“What are you doing? Don’t walk on my roof!” Is the best line in the movie imo
As Dom Noble simply puts it "The final boss shows up in level two."
Imagine dressing up in full Camp Half-Blood merch and going to see the movie with no spoilers and later asking the receptionist for a refund after like 5 minutes into it
I haven't watched the films in years and I used to love them
Thanks for opening my eyes
Dude same I can’t believe I loved these movies 🥴
I was like 8 the first time I watched the movie and thought it was great but I rewatched it and I was like “they butchered my favorite series”
Same
"Don't walk on my roof" is the greatest line in cinematic history
they probably could've had a line like this in the scene without ruining the suspension.
I clicked faster than Riordan jumped at insulting the movies
We were talking about the upcoming Disney+ adaptation in book club the other day and our president said "those kids they cast as the demigods are going to be under a lot of pressure. Not only are they going to be the faces of the new series, but they're also going to be doubly pressured because the fans are going to want to see the series done right since the movies messed it up."
We all gave her a virtual standing ovation.
Clarrise in books: I want to kill you
Clarrise in movies: I don't want to kill you
16:20 to further solidify this point, the movie itself shows Percy trying to use his powers before they're swallowed, and he can't. Because as Annabeth states, "Maybe the Sea of Monsters isn't in Poseidon's domain" which is also a stupid point.
How does that make sense? In the heroes of Olympus, Percy could still use his powers in Alaska, a place where no gods can control.
@@luciussalcedo3731 exactly, the movies are doo doo
@@luciussalcedo3731 I bet other gods are in Alaska, probably Inuit.
With the Cruise Ship scene, it was stupid that Annabeth recognized Ethan since they don’t even know him since he’s a son of a minor god thus he wasn’t claimed, which was a very important factor in the series.
You should do a video on “the lightning thief musical” it’s actually a pretty good adaptation (there’s also a bonus track and that’s pretty good to)

1:37 Another example of a good voice over is the princess tale in deathly hallows part 2 when snape is voicing over stuff from the first film. It's a really well put together scene and what I think is better than how Rowling did it in the book.
Rick: Hey can you make the second movie accurate to the book?
Director: Let me think about that..... No
I hope one day we can see the books get adapted in a way that's authentic to the books. I've never read the books, and I've only seen the first movie, but the two videos you've made, it's made the books sound very interesting and shows how bad the movies are as adaptations. Only time will tell I guess.
Good news- a PJO series is being made for Disney +, and Rick is one of the main script writers/overseeing the project

"What the F* is this"
THANK YOU JUST THANK YOU
Even if you don’t like the movie, you gotta admit the barrier being destroyed looked awesome
«There are hundreds of Cyclops and all of them are sons if Poseidon” I felt that 😂 I saw the movie and I was like whaat.. we know.. shall we pretend that we didn’t know?
well, just like we pretended we didn't knew it was only Zeus who won against Kronos and freed his brothers and sisters (I mean, this story it over 1500 year old but whatever)
but yeah, cyclops line was dumb as hell, they knew who cyclopes are like forever and then suddenly they are like "this is cyclops, whose son can he be, hm, probably he's one from the early ones, like Uranus son or smth, doesn't matter that he's only a child"
