they pretty much made annabeth useless. annabeth: "I've never lost a fight" also annabeth: immediately loses to percy, who just came to camp and has no training whatsoever also also annabeth: "you need me for this quest" ughhh annabeth was my favorite in the books and they completely ruined her
also they immidately tried to get annabeth and percy to be interested at the very start (its obvious)is also so bad because what made their relationship special was all the buildup they had and stuff like I hate it
@@vivianarickert8230 YESSS espesially with the quote I have feelings for you I just dont know if they are good or bad yet, like to me that just ruined their whole relashionship while in Sea of Monsters litterally Percy and Clarisse have more of a percabeth relashionship than Percy and Annabeth
Luke’s betrayal in the book: Tricks Percy into coming into the woods with him, expresses disillusionment with Camp Half-Blood and the gods themselves, puts a scorpion on Percy, monologues pretty realistically about how he’s been let down time after time, then disappears like a badass and leaves Percy to die. Luke’s betrayal in the movie: HAHA TWAS ME ALL ALONG *shoots lightning and makes big kaboom*
I remember that moment in the fifth book when Percy had to tell Zeus and the gods to stop being a bitch and recognize all their demigod children and I thought Zeus was gonna lighting strike him then and there lol
@@finnick_odair_he_is1785 Yeah same. It makes sense tho they messed up his life work I would be pissed off as well. I love Rick he’s such a good role model
Reading the emails he sent have been an absolute experience. I love that the fandom is united in hate at the Peter Johnson movies XD. Really strengthens that sense of community, especially with Rick at the helm. I am so so glad the movies never made it to Titan's Curse, as well. (on a side note aaaaa fellow fansie! hii!!)
This movie had the full Hollywood Woke treatment. No wonder why it failed. Not every black character has to be a cool and confident ladies man and not all female leads have to be strong and dominating. There is such a thing as being vulnerable to grow as a character.
the screen writers: **reading TLT** "I'm Percy Jackson." the screen writers: WELL, THATS ALL THE INFORMATION WE NEED! LETS BEGIN MAKING THE _PETER JOHNSON_ MOVIES
Book: Percy, Annabeth and Grover go on a quest to the underworld where Percy appreciates and respects his companions and we are able to root for him. Film: Peter, Bethany and Oscar go across the states to find pearls where Peter acts like an overconfident jerk, Oscar is obsessed with girls and Bethany flirts with Peter.
Another thing you learn about Hades is that he was the best father of all the Gods, truly loving Nico and Bianca and even trying to protect their mother. He cursed the Oracle and fell out with his brothers again. I hate the way that almost every film that features Hades makes him out to be the Devil when he is far from it.
@@diip-ali1228 yeah but what they did to him and Persephone is as dirty as Disney's old Hercules animated film. Persephone is shown to be a b*tch who hate living with Hades; and when his back is turned, she just zap him
@@longphan7656True. To be sure she wasn't exactly fond of Hades even in the actual myths but she had great compassion for the spirits of the underworld which is why she returned every six months.
@@Bryan198026 Persephone loved Hadies, and he loved her in return, and even though he did have extramarital relationships with other women, she remained loyal and never complained about the other women. (Though she did try to keep Adonis.)
I was reading the books frist and during reading the second book I was exited to watch the 1st movie and then I saw a hate vid and I was like: Never mind.
Loyalty is literally Percy’s fatal flaw, and how they made him into this narcissistic, arrogant character who doesn’t care about his friends just mystifies me. Plus, Mount Olympus’ being turned to this dark mysterious place is brought to a whole new level of disrespect when in the Trials of Apollo it is actually reviewed why Mount Olympus was dazzlingly white - as a counter to Kronos’ palace which is all dark and evil themed. To quote: “… reminding me a bit too much of Kronos’s palace. (He and his Titans had been all about black marble. That was one reason Zeus insisted on Mount Olympus’s strict building codes that kept everything blinding white.)”
Dude and they even got what Annabeth and Grover looked like which is so messed up. Also, bro, the book said Ares was thee lighting thief but in the movie they said it Luke. 😤😐
This isn’t just said in TOA, its mentioned many many times through out the entire Camp Half-Blood Chronicles and multiple times in Percy Jackson's Greek Gods. It just amazes me how they just completely pretended this didn’t exist and went on with their plans even when Rick told them to change it may times. Fuck Fox Studios for making this sooooooooooo terrible. The Disney adaptation will me infinitely better.
Well let's hope that Percy Jackson and the Olympians which will be released on Disney Plus in 2 years does Justice to the books I'm really excited and our young Walker will do incredible and he is age appropriate to Percy's character
in an interview someone asked the cast about blue food and they just said “that’s not really related to percy jackson but whatever” LIKE IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH PERCY JACKSON
It was because his mom loved blue and wanted everything to be blue right? It's only been a few months since I finished both the PJ and HOH series and I already forgot.
I saw that interview and at one point the guy who played Tyson in Sea of Monsters actually said that he read the book(SoM) and said that the movie follows the book like what?! I'm actually so disgusted.
One of the most annoying and worst change is that annabeth charges on luke in the movies whereas in the books she always had a soft spot for luke and never admits that luke is completely bad,the fact that she charged at luke with the cursed blade is like the whole point of the prophecy is gone.
Oh no. That's NOT the cursed blade. Riptide is. Jk that's movie logic. Which means it isnt logical. Annabeth having the cursed blade is so poetic and how THAT was what killed Luke in the end is just an amazing story
Movie 2 is basically the worst movie adaptation i've ever seen, based on book 2 and 4(?)/5(?) or whatever that fight with a meatball named after the titan of time wanted to be
One of my favourite parts of the book is that Hades is not only terrifying but funny. For most of the book he’s a big bad dark grim reaper type villain. But when Percy gets there he just complains that the underworld’s bureaucracy is too complex. It’s amazing and I love it.
@theLegolist Me That might be the best moment in the entire book and that says something. I basically worship the books and have done so since I was 8 that is more than 10 years ago.
@@thelegolistme3250I love that upon hearing that Hades just straight up went like "Oh Charon now too, that's great, he and his STUPID ITALIAN SUITS are bankrupting me" He was a fantastic bait and switch that played with how many stories have Hades as The Big Bad while ignoring the myths
Yeah and giving Ares no air time esp his part in the whole fiasco ita almost as frustrating as him getting off Scott free in the books and appollo getting punished. But I would not care to be along for the ride with Ares as I did for Apollo
"More security ghouls," he moaned. "Traffic problems at the judgment pavilion. Double overtime for staff. I used to be a rich god, percy jackson. I control all the precious metals under the earth. But my expenses!" "Charon wants a raise," I blurted, just remembering the fact. As soon as I said it, I wished I could sew up my mouth. "Don't get me started on Charon!" Hades yelled. "Hes been impossible ever since he discovered Italian suits! Problems everywhere, and I've got to handle them all personally. The commute time alone from the palace to the gates is enough to drive me insane! And the dead just keep on arriving. No, godling. I need no help getting subjects! I did not ask for this war" -hades: the lightning theif, chapter 19 page 311-312
To give any Harry Potter fans who haven’t read Percy Jackson imagine if in Sorcerer’s Stone Harry went into the room with the mirror of Erised and standing there was Severus Snape. That’s just one example of how they mess things up
The messed up BAD. like, imagine if Harry called Draco his best friend, then proceeded to kiss Voldemort. THEN slaughtering the entire school with the killing curse and laughing like a maniac. That, but 1000 times worse. Like Harry slaughtering everyone in the wizarding world, every muggle, and plot twist,he murdered his parents.
Yeah, lol, it’s weird to have twelve-year-old swing a sword, but he had no problem with it in CoS, but it “feels weird” in Percy Jackson, like I can’t believe it.
As someone who has seen the movie first, all I can say is that it pushed me to read the book. And you were absolutely right, they were totally disrespectful. Also, the scene where Percy holds his breath underwater isn't just useless, it's also inaccurate because Percy can literally breathe underwater
You know what's more impressive than holding your breath underwater? Being able to breath water. Which I don't think I should have to tell you, but Percy can. Almost all children of Poseidon can.
The worst part is it’s 1 minute and 40 seconds first that is possible in the real world and it possible for longer and it’s not the world record so he’s doing nothing impressive
Also, adding on, Percy talked in the book about how Latin class is the only class he takes seriously, while in the movie, he walks around carelessly with headphones in not listening.
It’s funny because when I met Rick Riordan 4 years ago he tried telling me he’s never seen the adaptations of his books. He said he refuses to watch them because of how disappointing he knows they are. Lmao
Part of the reason the Percy Jackson novels work so well is that it’s strongly character-driven, where the story moves forward because of everyone’s distinct personalities and motivations. The movie version turns everyone into flat Hollywood stereotypes: Percy is the dull uber-masculine hero, Annabeth is the so-called action girl, Grover is the Black Best Friend (TM), and Luke is blatantly obvious baddie. The story simply doesn’t work with them.
Also another thing, Luke stealing from Hermes? I get Luke is a really good thief, but stealing from his father, the god of thieves and the guy who likely has every defense measure possible against this sort of thing from ever happening? Luke wouldn't get past the front door.
@@StrangerJayden The Staff of Hermes was stolen from the giant Hippolytus, bane of Hermes. Luke would never have stood a chance of stealing from the god of thieves himself
in the books, we talk about how immortals, demi gods, humans ect have fatal flaws. Percy's one is that he is too loyal. He would constantly chose the ones he love over him, protecting them from dangerous situation more than once. This flaw is one of the things that made him who he is, he is humble and kind and would save a stranger's life even if it meant giving up his own. In the movie, they got rid of this. Percy is just this huge jerk who doesn't care and would probably kill an innocent to save his life, something the real Percy would never do. This flaw is also his greatest quality and taking that away is just nonsense.
Not to mention they came out the same year, thank god I didn't see this movie in theaters like Airbender, because I can't think of many more times in my life where I was as disappointed as I was then lol
Also, they said that they had to journey for the pearls, when in the book, Poseidon told a Nereid to give them to Percy, showing that Poseidon cared enough to help his son, but not enough to show his face. This also shows off his powers to talk to sea creatures and breathe underwater.
I feel like he was ashamed for abandoning him and all that. He's a really sweet and gentle and nice etc God (can't say the same for most of them) that's why Poseidon is the only God I have respect and love for
One of the worst things they cut from the movie for me is that Percy just immediately gets his own cabin. Percy spending time in Hermes cabin is what made Luke’s betrayal hit as hard as it did.
Lol did anyone else think Annabeth literally was Clarisse when she first appeared? I was shocked when she was revealed to be Annabeth. Can’t believe the screenwriters messed up so badly.
the actress who played Clarisse had blonde hair in the hunger games movie and it suited her so well. Would have been better if they switched the actresses
honestly, if you told me chris columbus, the man who brought us the magic of the harry potter universe, who was by far the most faithful to the source material out of all the directors, would completely destroy one of the greatest fantasy series of our time by disregarding the source material, i’d probably burst out laughing.
The Percy Jackson films were definitely created by Dionysus and Tantalus. I’m honestly surprised that the first one isn’t called Peter Johnson and the goblet of wine.
Thank you. I mean the movie is terrible and it totally ignored the books but that is ok when you watch it at school and didn't read the books before. But they ignored mythology with this film is supposed to teach. I mean really how can you do the film about Greek mythology ignoring Greek mythology. I think this is one of the worst of all changes.
The second film is even worse. When they show how Kronos ate his children they tell the story like not just Zeus, but Poseidon and Hades too were saved by Rhea (edit: sry, they wasnt even saved, they escaped somehow) and only this three fought against the Titans, and they even forget to mention their siblings, so if you never read mythology, it looks like every other god, is this trios descendant
What REALLY pisses me off is I’m SURE they heard complaints from the first movie and instead of being like, “Yeah, okay, maybe Rick was right. Maybe we should bring him on to assist more before we destroy this franchise”, they just continued to do their own thing. bUt ThEy ChAnGeD aNnAbEtH’s EyEs - I don’t care. They had the perfect cast and they still fumbled the bag.
Look, the eyes of the characters are a symbol of who their parents are.Percy's are green, because his dad is the god of sea.Annabeth's are grey, because her mother has the same eye colour. Her blond hair also is a part of her personality. In the HoO Series we found out that because she is blond, she always thought she has to prove that she is not dumb and weak.BUT I wouldn't mind,if they did her character justice.
What I really hated about the capture the flag scene is that even though she specifically mentions being a daughter of Athena, her strategy is absolutely terrible. Like she basically left it to be defended by one person. I can forgive compositing character moments and whatnot but they picked the absolute worst character to do it with.
@@stansman5461 thats another thing they ruined is the relationship between Percy and Annabeth, it does not just happen over a few weeks like it does in the movies, it takes time. A big reason why it takes a while is because their parents Poseidon and Athena don't like each other, and Percy and Annabeth try to be different from their parents in the books.
@@xanthiusdrake2775 All while simultaneously ruining the relationship between Percy and Sally. In the books Percy is lowkey planning on breaking into the underworld to rescue his mother as soon as he finds out that underworld is a thing. It's a deciding factor as to why he took the quest in the first place, his goal wasn't saving the world, it was saving his mother.
@@vibhutiverma664 another relationship they ruined was Hades and Persephone, I think they got her confused with Aphrodite. The fact that they tried (and failed horribly ) to compress five books into just two movies, also skips over the relationship between Grover and Juniper, that one is really nice. And yet another relationship they ruined is when Percy's mother finds a boyfriend, and rather then be skeptic about it, Percy is actually happy about it.
About your comment on them making Percy seem selfish and the fact that his selflessness is such an important point of his character. In The Sea of Monsters, Annabeth discusses the fatal flaws of heroes and at the time, Percy doesn't know what his is, but Athena later points out that his flaw is he cares too much and wants to save everyone. Making him seem selfish completely ruins his fatal flaw.
I like Percy's selflessness and how much he cares for his family and friends and I really hope that they depict those things about his character in the series that were never seen in the movies
I wrote one of my college essays about this series and I got into UCLA. that’s how much of a profound impact this series had on my childhood development
Whoever designed Hades got too deep into the metaphysical (God, Jesus, Satan). Hades was described as 3m tall, with shoulder-length black hair. It really bugs me that they completely disregarded the whole plot that Rick wrote.
And I actually felt sorry for the guy. He was misunderstood and Zeus just blitz his mortal lover (Nico and Bianca’s mother) in an attempt to kill his children JUST because he fears the Great Prophecy. Honestly that dude deserves a break and a bit more respect
NO LITERALLY. Also, in the second movie they literally design Kronos the exact same way?? They’re both fire-y devil-looking creatures with horns. They literally made both main ‘villains’ (in quotes cuz Hades isn’t a villain) the devil 😭😭

Also, why is Sally back when they’re still in the Underworld? Like Poseidon TOLD Percy Sally was back and she pleaded with Gabe to not call the police.
In sixth grade, for like a month we had to read The Lightning Thief and watch the movie and compare. We'd read a chapter or two every few days and then watch the corresponding moments of those chapters in the movie the next day. Although I never really took an interest to the movie enough to decide if it was good or not, the amount of time we spent discussing the differences and mistakes they made in the movie was ridiculous. I think one chapter we viewed in the movie, when they were at camp I believe because we were covering the Capture the Flag to the Minotaur attack, it took two whole separate class days to talk about the mistakes the movie made in that like 25 minute time span.
I think the capture the flag scene is when I knew for a fact this movie would be hot garbage. Annabeth talks about being the daughter of Athena but I feel like a 12 year old would beat her at Risk her strategy is so terrible.
Grover: “No I-I ain’t talkin’ about that movie! All right? ...It’s not here, is it? How do I get this thing off!?” Annabeth: “One shudders to imagine what inhumane thoughts lie behind that mask....what dreams of chronic and sustained cruelty...”
Let’s not forget how Grover stayed behind so Percy could save his mom. Which takes away Percy’s relationship with his mom, and his relationship with Annabeth and Grover!! In the book he was so touched as they both volunteered to stay behind, and Percy knew that his mom would never be happy with that conclusion. So he sacrificed the ONE thing he went on the quest for (his mom) to keep his friends safe. This is a big choice and big moment in Percy’s character ark. And the movie writers messed that up too! Literally the only way Grover got those horns in the movie was cause of how horny he was.
IF the Chris and the screen writers took more time to actually read the books and sit and discuss to how everything would be then, the movies would have been a masterpiece
Imagine if in the Harry Potter Movies, Harry just hears the traits of a Gryffindor and says "Yup, that's me" instead of having the Sorting Hat ritual. That's basically what they did with Percy's claiming in the movie

They actually did make Annabeth into Clarisse. If they had introduced the same actress in the same way, and just made her Clarisse daughter of Ares instead of Annabeth daughter of Athena it would have been perfect and set her up exactly the way she was in the books. Looks, personality, and the way other characters treat her are almost the same between movie Annabeth and Clarisse.
The fact Luke is Percy's "admiration crush" (a lot of us have one when we are kids) and then becoming a villain that tries to KILL him is the biggest twist in the first book and in the movie is so shabby, and makes me SO ANGRY
Someone once called the second movie" Perry Jorgensen and the Puddle of Nasties." That sounds like the name of a badly written porno. And yet that would still be better than this abomination that we got.
It’s crazy how much the Percy Jackson series got me through. Like as an ADD 6th grade kid who also was a really talented swimmer I literally thought those books were written exclusively for me. I read the first 5 and never read the sequel series until I was 17 and bc of unfortunate decisions was incarcerated in a juvenile detention center. Those books took me far away from jail and I hope they get a good adaptation soon.
I know what you feel like I never went to jail but I do have a history of getting into fights in school and also I’m not really smart I’m probably going to make a spelling or grammar mistake in this comint but Percy Jaxson showed me that even kids with “problems” can be heroes I like everyone else was super disappointed in the movies but good thing there’s going to be a tv show soon that Rick rirodern is helping with I’m super hyped for that
This also related to second to third grade me. I didn’t like reading, and while I was good at word sort, kinda like Annabeth is good at reading, I hated reading and I sometimes couldn’t get past chapters in relatively small books like Whatever After and a book about a magical wolf. The only books I read were like, the Stacy Plays Wild Rescuers series cause it’s the only series I liked. I got easily bored with books and sometimes words got swirled in my brain.
im 12 and i have the entire series ive read it all although i have adhd aspurgers hypochondria anxiety and stress and mixed with puberty feelings i dont know if ima pass 7th grade..

The Percy Jackson show on Disney+ is going to be actually good because Rick Riordan is actually involved in the production. Too bad it won’t be coming until 2022.
These movies had such potential. Harry Potter was hugely successful, but all the books from Goblet to Deathly Hallows were super thick so the movies had to cut a bunch of stuff out. These books are really small so they could’ve made them into incredible book to movie adaptations that were funny and educational.
The HP movies (expect the first two almost) really suck when you compare them to the books. They butchered the characters, canon pairings and many great scenes because the filmmakers wanted to make Hermione a Mary Sue for marketing purposes.
@@winxclubfairiesrule1 I wish the movies were made after the books ended. Because I feel that JkR got influenced by the films and there is a drop in narrative quality for the last three books
This movie is a terrible adaptation: I am a middle school English teacher. One of the traditions kids look forward to is watching the movie after finishing a book. I’ve done this with The Giver, A Raisin in the Sun, etc. When I taught Percy Jackson, I told the kids that we should skip the tradition this time. They begged me to show them the movie anyway. I caved and showed them. My students never questioned me again for the rest of the year.
@@noelle_reads_alot The Giver movie is better than the Percy Jacksons. But the movie spoils the twist that the world is in black and white at the beginning.
I don’t know about you, but one of the things I’m most ticked off about is that they didn’t include the scene where Percy and his mother go to Montauk Beach (thank you Project S.O.S. for helping me out :D) That scene, for me, showed Percy’s love and absolute admiration for his mother. And I’m not just talking about when they got to the beach, it’s when Percy got home and talked to his mother and how much he missed her. Those few scenes really said what needed to be said about Percy and his mother, and made the whole “I want my mother back” that Percy showed constantly throughout the book make sense. I’m convinced they drew names out of a hat to see which scenes made it into the movie.
Yeah, it also shows us a glimpse of his fatal flaw which is too much loyalty. Which is his most defining trait, he would rather sacrifice everything than lose his loved ones.
Thats literally it there is way too much good scenes the ones he talked abt in the vid and so many other its all not gonna fit into a 2 hour movie imo Which is why rick riordan is making a series which is perfect for something like this hopefully it is true and is good
One little detail I think would’ve been cool to see in a movie is Percy telling a giant great white shark to go away and it does. Also Persephone being in the underworld doesn’t make sense for the obvious reason on her (pretty well known) mythology dictating she wouldn’t be there in the summer, but also that fact is specifically brought up in the book, Percy wishing she /was/ there because he heard she made hades more reasonable
Making Percy selfish is literally changing his fatal flaw, which is excessive personal loyalty. It's one of the reasons Kronos and Luke were successful in their plan. Percy is _too_ loyal, he'll always do something to save people he has an ounce of compassion about. That makes him predictable to both his friends and *to* his enemies. *Spoilers for the rest of the series:* . . . Kronos was able to exploit that flaw in almost all 5 books. He sent Sally to the Underworld because he knew Percy would go after her. He kidnapped Grover because he knew Percy would go after his best friend. He kidnapped Annabeth because he knew Percy would do anything to get her back. Athena says it at the end of The Titan's Curse: _"You do not know when it is time to cut your losses. To save a friend, you would sacrifice the world. In a hero of the prophecy, that is very, very dangerous.”_
honestly annabeth not being blonde was a big deal to me when I was like 9/10. as a blonde bookish girl it was great to read about a girl that was also blonde and bookish because i'd never seen/read it before.
ngl the annabeth not being blonde thing is still a big deal to me because literally every part of the books that has to describe annabeth in some way ALWAYS mentions her hair being blonde, like how did you magically miss that? Her blonde hair and stormy grey eyes are mentioned over and over because Annabeth is meant to have a very specific look which also contributes to her entire plot line. Taking that away from her to me felt like taking away Annabeth entirely.
Sometimes Anabeth even acted like a stupid blonde girl, to fool enemies (like when she tricked octavianus after trowing her dagger into the sea to warn Percy), so making her brown became even worse
I am literally offended with how they potreyed Chiron he is shown unique in the book so the movie really let me down Grover he is a sweet unconfident and down to earth satyr the way they potreyed him makes me sick Annabeth she is the daughter of Athena wich means she is wise smart and strategic Percy he isn't a rude selfish jerk He is a courageous selfless greatful and loving person Luke he is a good looking charming Manipulator wich is why him being the villan is surprising
To be fair, he did say that he doesn't watch Adaptations, he hasn't seen the Musical either because he doesn't want to mess with his vision of the characters he wrote. Though he did give the seal of approval for the musical so I'm guessing he read the script for it.
And yet he's so vocal about hating them and alienates his fanbase by continuing to post hateful things about ut and even wrote a hateful letter to the director. What a prick.
Literally saying that Luke has never met his father is the dumbest thing ever. Luke hates his father because he knows that his father knows how they struggle, yet he does nothing to help them. At least if Hermes never made any contact then there is the chance that he has no idea what is going on. Also it’s a pretty big plot point later, so there’s that too
Well he DID meet his dad once before he got to camp Half Blood (at least that he can remember) but Hermes couldn’t tell Luke about what his mother (who went mad thanks to that curse Hades placed on the Oracle) meant by his fate. Hermes wanted to but he knew he couldn’t tell Luke. Even Annabeth points out how that can backfire

The crazy thing is that in 5th grade, we had to read this book and would be graded on it. I decided to watch the movie before reading the entire book with my dad. I noticed changes, but I didn't really mind them and I had this evil little grin on my face when I realized that Luke was the bad guy and most of my classmates didn't. When I finished the movie, I remembered liking it, but I noticed all of the changes and even started questioning them while I continued to read the book. The changes made less and less sense to me and I started to get a little annoyed with them. I was really invested in the book and instead of being a little annoyed, I started to get angry. I mean, seeing how truly botched the story and characters really were just made me upset. It makes me appreciate the Harry Potter movies so much more because even though there were changes made, I will always see them as great source material adaptations. It shows me what Harry Potter could have been if nobody cared about the source material. There are huge things that were cut out and my goodness, it really ruined the story and characters. Believe it or not, but when I saw the movie Annabeth, I thought that Grover was going to say she was Clarice and my jaw dropped when I was told she was Annabeth. Yes, changes and cuts can and should be made, but the changes and cuts in Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief were so bad, that I really thought to myself..."How did I once like this movie?" I am very upset that this movie franchise was done so badly because it could have been something great or miraculous. It could have been just as good if not better than the Harry Potter films if genuine care was put into everything. Actually, I do and will prefer the Harry Potter movies....."Always".
My favotite part in the book that they cut out of the movie was Annabeth draging Percy and Grover onto the arch and getting all extctied talking about the architecture. It was such a wholesome scene that added so much to her character because it showed us how much being a year-rounder at camp half-blood for 7 years has isolated her from the outside world, and this was her only way to feel normal. 💔
@@malcolmjenkins3585 Not much luckier? The changes made to HP are nowhere near as severe as in PJO. It’s got all of the “bad” changes of HP and many of its own. In HP it’s various scenes and characters cut or limited. And while some characters like ron and snape (and probably others that I can’t recall) got changed a bit it’s no where near as bad as in PJO where so few characters were done right. In the first movie they don’t even mention the main villian...or the secondary villian either or Percy’s bullies Nancy and Clarrise. Then in the second film they blew their load prematurely. The completely ignored the story and characters of this series. All of this plus mediocre dialogue and action. Get out of here with this “not much luckier” crap, y’all got some of the best damn adaptations. Your changes are minor and annoying, unlike in PJO where the source material was so thoroughly ignored and insulted.
I havent read the books but I am a fanatic of mythology and seeing how this movie treated the greek mythos made my jaw drop by how awful it was, more specifically the things with Hades. HADES IS NOT THE DEVIL,HE IS THE GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD, the fact that the movie not only made him evil but also have his god form be a literal demon is not just stupid,is disrespectful, the guy is arguably the one that treats humanity the fairest out of the 3 brothers.making the underworld be literal blazing hell is also an incredibly dumb choice because that is the only afterlife that exists so why would anybody in their right mind pay to enter for Eternal damnation?. But the thing that baffles me the most is persephone, not just because she dresses like nicki minaj despite being daughter of the spring goddess, not just that she hates hades's guts wich makes no sense because the myth states that she willingly ate a fruit so that she could be with him because she truly loves him. But simply the fact that she is there, with Hades,in the underworld, during summer. WICH IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE SHE IS THE MYTH THAT EXPLAINS THE MONTHS OF WINTER,FROM SPRING TO FALL SHE HAS TO STAY WITH HER MOTHER BECAUSE IF NOT THEN DEMETER WILL NOT DO HER JOB AND THE WORLD WILL ENTER A SECOND ICE AGE

That was one reason Zeus insisted on Mount Olympus’s strict building codes that kept everything blinding white.)”

in the books, we talk about how immortals, demi gods, humans ect have fatal flaws. What I really hated about the capture the flag scene is that even though she specifically mentions being a daughter of Athena, her strategy is absolutely terrible. Like she basically left it to be defended by one person. I can forgive compositing character moments and whatnot but they picked the absolute worst character to do it with.

The percy vs ares fight on the beach is one of my favorite moments in the books, it would have been so cool to have it adapted in the movie.

I think the screenwriters just looked at the cover and went:
“Oh yeah! Now we know what to do!”

That scene, for me, showed Percy’s love and absolute admiration for his mother.

*Spoilers for the rest of the series:*
.
.
In a hero of the prophecy, that is very, very dangerous.”_

ngl the annabeth not being blonde thing is still a big deal to me because literally every part of the books that has to describe annabeth in some way ALWAYS mentions her hair being blonde, like how did you magically miss that? Her blonde hair and stormy grey eyes are mentioned over and over because Annabeth is meant to have a very specific look which also contributes to her entire plot line. Taking that away from her to me felt like taking away Annabeth entirely.
Percy mentioned it a lot and also in the books Annabeth often felt alienated and wished to have her mother’s brown hair.
Sometimes Anabeth even acted like a stupid blonde girl, to fool enemies (like when she tricked octavianus after trowing her dagger into the sea to warn Percy), so making her brown became even worse

Id have to agree. It's clear that the writers made A LOT of small errors that added up to detract harshly from the film.
Yes, changes and cuts can and should be made, but the changes and cuts in Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief were so bad, that I really thought to myself..."How did I once like this movie?"
I am very upset that this movie franchise was done so badly because it could have been something great or miraculous.

I KNOW RIGHT
Totally agree! I couldn't have say it better.
Yh exactly, also make sure you take your time to read the books. They're amazing
I would recommend reading the books, they're great. And Hades isn't a bad buy in them.
Thank you
