    For the Drug Induced Lupus Drugs I think of a hunter with a drug-covered stone (His-stone) and remember "When you see a wolf (lupus), Quick (Quinidine) Men (Methyldopa) go for it's HIP (Hydralazine, Isoniazid, Proacainamide)" Hope that helps someone else!

    Rifampin - Red-orange secretions
    First letters
    Isoniazid - causes hepatitis increases ALT and AST and B6 is an important cofactor for those so B6 is deficient and leads to neurological symptoms along with sideroblastic anemia
    Pyrazinamide - Weak acid , so competes with gout for tubular secretion leading to hyperuricemia worsening Gout
    E (ye)thambutol - optic neuritis

    First Aid 2021 has gout as adverse effect of Loop Diuretics, but it makes sense to me what you're saying - gout is an adverse effect of Thiazides because they decrease Ca excretion. Could you please clarify if gout shows up with Loop Diuretics? I see that you don't have gout as an adverse effect of Loop Diuretics here.

    • @alaads5944

    For TB Treatment I expanded your mnemonic to RIPPER ONGLOW, the extra P and R representing Pyridoxine and Rifabutin. Those two line up with the L and W, respectively, to represent L=Lessen isoniazid's side effect (pyridoxine is simply b6 so you coadminister with isoniazid to lessen that b6 deficiency) and W=Weakened liver/immunity (rifabutin is given instead of rifampin in patients taking CYP450 liver metabolism-altering drugs - especially high yield for HIV patients due to protease inhibitor usage).

    Excellent video! You mentioned how Isoniazid can trigger G6PD deficiency hemolysis, and you also mentioned that it might manifest with a positive coombs test, but I don't know if it would have a positive coombs test. My understanding is that isoniazid is causing oxidative stress that the G6PD-deficient RBC cannot handle (because it lacks glutathione) and will therefore hemolyse. This is different than a hemolytic anemia where there are antibodies against some antigen on the RBC (it is in this case where you'd get a positive coombs test).
    Let me know your thoughts!

      class IC is a Na+ channel blocker

    • @ravisinha6776
      @ravisinha6776 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yah Class 1C does NOT prolong QT As far as I remember. Out of the Anti-arrthymics, the ones that cause prolonged QT are Class 1A, and Class 3 ( which are K+ channel blockers ) with the EXCEPTION OF AMIODARONE. Class 1C is all about state dependence meaning when your heart rate starts to go up like during exercise, that's when Class 1C works - so it's state dependence and this will lead to a DELAYED depolarization at higher heart rates, but wont' do anything for the potassium channels in phase 3. And so it has strong SODIUM CHANNEL BLOCKAGE.
