The current government is trying to abolish the Māori language because non-Māori people (settlers) find it “too hard” to understand and a hassle to read and look at. They believe Māori are given too many “extras” in this country and believe the treaty that was signed in 1840 which protected Māori and their rights on their own land is no longer necessary. So for those of you who think NZ is a beautiful and peaceful country, please know that we are doing our very best to keep the real NZ (Aotearoa) alive and thriving for all future Māori to carry on keeping their beautiful and unique yet dying out culture alive for the world
