+Mr Stephon (AkaNotNice) If anything just watch a few different vids. You might have a couple obstacles, but work through them and stay positive. You're saving yourself a pretty penny.
Years late but best vid for the 2006 GS 430 by far. I wish I would have saw this vid before I started working on it, but the vid cut down half the time I was going to use working on this...
Super glad it helped. TH-cam helps me, figure I would give back to the community. Every time someone comments, makes me look at one of these videos again. Gosh I miss this car. Had it for around 8 years, only issues I ever had was a bad gas cap, and leaking strut. Crazy. My 2014 Jeep has one issue after another.
I'm not a mechanic bud, I only work on my own personnel vehicle due to the fact I don't like anyone touching my vehicle. Ha ha. With some tools and determination, anything is possible.
🤔What..You don't need to be certified to be classified as a mechanic. I started the same way couldn't afford for anyone else to touch my car 🤣. One 🛠️ after the next and here I am 20 years in
ha ha. Have to add that disclaimer because TH-cam comments will tear you apart if you do one thing wrong. Own a Jeep now, well this thing lives with a check engine light on. After not ever actually having to break a bolt in the engine bay, finally broke down and took it to the dealership. They repaired it to where the CEL stayed off for a little while, but they broke the tabs on my fuse box, left the inside of the vehicle sooted from jumping in and out, left off misc. hardware on various components in my engine bay, then the check engine light came back on after 20 miles of driving. Hate people touching my vehicles.
Clearance. You can unbolt the lower suspension arm and wouldn't have to do that. I just wanted the spring to stay compressed, once removed, i compressed the spring with proper tools, cut the rope, and split up the strut assembly
I used a long pipe I had in the garage, then switch to a pry bar. Step on one end with foot, slide assembly in, then release pry bar tension. You can probably use a 2x4 piece of wood.
hey thanks for the video. I have a 93 toyota aristo with the stock adjustable dampeners and i was wondering what to do with an aftermarket setup. It seems pretty straight forward and i look forward to trying it myself in a couple months.
Cool vid. I installed KSCs in my lexus gs 430 and had the same issues. Shop wanted about 2 grand to install so I did it myself. Took a few days to ajust to a good height. 1st install 2 low.
I have an AVS system and need new shocks on my rear but don't want any lights to come up on the dash. Is there a way to avoid this? And did unplugging your battery allow this happen?
Trickiest part was using a long pry bar to lower the rear lower control arm to let me pull out factory strut. Literally put bar in there, with one foot put weight down on pry bar, stood on my other foot, and grabbed strut with my hand. If you have some help, will be a lot easier. lol. I may have used a 10' piece of pipe. Either way, use some long type bar.
Oh man, I loved that car. Had it for like 6 years. Reinstalled original suspension a year later. I was more into it being comfortable. I would drive it to/from work 330 miles away every few week. Very comfortable. Family started getting bigger, needed something a little larger.
+MAXWELL TORNO (UNDRDGMAX) I have the adjustable suspension from factory. I installed non adjustable shocks/struts and have no lights. I believe I left my front motors attached and disconnected my rear motors. No lights, no issues.
Thanks for the video. I have 2010 GS460 its stiff as fuck. I dont know why. I feel no difference with sport mode on and off. Some forums say that can be actuators some say shocks issue. Do you know if there is a way to check it?
+CalculusVariations99 - I know I still have my front dampers plugged in, and believe they are still on the rear. Not technically being used, but they are plugged in. So car doesn't know.
Nope. And never had an issue in my 19 years of working on my personal vehichles besides forgetting to tighten my wheel lugs when I was 17 years old. lol
I did not know the GS430 had adjustable stock suspension with electronic motors? Was that a standard feature? Great job on the install and video.. i have GS400 on Tein CS and your right you constantly move to get out of dips in the road and etc.. I've had them for many miles and pretty happy with them.. Please let me know about the Electronic dampening on the 2006. thanks.. Do you have other videos on the GS?
Tony F Yes you can change the suspension mode to "sport". If you ever wonder why that sport mode button stands for at the middle console. It doesnt only making your pedal more agressiv, it changes the suspension either. At least thats what it do at my gs450h 😂
any other mods on your GS430? I have one too. I wanna upgrade headlights low beams and eventually the rest with hid kit 6000kil. the ballast connects striaght to bolb. cant find a video I got stumped. any ideas
+Korin Velez I have staggered wheel setup now, and replaced the coilovers with stocks. No more fixing up cars, besides a basic wheel upgrade and LED lighting for headlights and fog lights, it doesn't pay off.
+Korin Velez I threw some 9 and 10.5 staggered wheels on there, went back to stock suspension. Changed out my low beams and fogs to D4S LED's. Other than that, shes staying stock. I now have better traction, better lighting, and to me, the other types of mods are just not worth it.
Didn’t get specs, I just went with what I felt comfortable with. I know it’s not the best, but never had any issues after working on any of my vehicles.
+Antti Koskelainen I'm sure there might be a better way here or there, but this worked for me. You can probably just unbolt the lower control arm to simplify things.
After a year, i switched back to stock suspension. Got tired of always trying to catch bumps/ramps and swerving around them, I rather have a smooth ride and not worry about bottoming out. They were K2 coilovers or something to that extent.
google " clublexus New wheels. Keeping an OEM type look " Comes up as the first line item. I dont drive around dodging bumps, pot holes and such either, I just drive normal. No worries here. I got the wrong offset in the front though, not sure if it was because of vendor or what, but I had to add spacers so my wheels cleared the larger OEM brakes.
Thanks for the great video! I just had to replace a blown strut on my 06 GS430 at 117k. A note for others - my strut would not come out without disconnecting the upper sway bar end link to let the control arm hang lower. I battled a spring compressor for an hour only to figure out it does no good on the stock spring/strut combo. The spring is fixed at both ends.
Wesley Leite I got tired of the suspension, back to stock. I'm happy with only my staggered wheel set, and wish I never even tried coil overs. Save your money. lol
Probably because the ride is alot stiffer. I have BC coil overs on my 07 GS450h and at setting 5 which is very soft, range is 1-30 (hardest) . it is still noticeably stiffer than stock. But i believe the aftermarket to be better quality than stock. because everyone knows the factory Lexus/Toyota strutrs/shocks go at 70-80k miles. Also the hard tires I have Michelin Pilot Sport AVS3 doesnt help either. With stiff sidewalls They feel like Pirelli run flats.
WARNING: Remove the ABS sensor per the link:www.clublexus.com/forums/suspension/736063-diy-guide-2014-gs350-f-sport-lowering-spring-install-guide.html Even if the link is for a 2014 Gs the idea is there otherwise $200 to $300 in repair cost for a minor mistake
Thanks for this video, the dealership told me $1200.00 to change my rear struts but after watching this video I'm confident I can do it myself.

Thanks for taking the time on making this. This is a moral booster!!
do you have Engine check light after your coilover installation? Did you connect back the 'motor' connector on top of your shock? Thanks.
hi
will u tell me which brand it is ? coz i want to put in gs 430 also ..i can't find on net i m in australia.
cheers
I love, love, love, this car.... nice job with the video 👌🏽
I believe they are for abs to detect which wheel is slipping/not slipping
Can get the strut to come down..it’s moving but the upper bolds are long and i can’t pull shock out
Use a pry bar to lower suspension arm more. I had one handy. Or use a long pipe.
Were you able to put back the thing on top of the shocks/struts that tweaks the suspension after the install?
+True2thee I did, left it plugged in too. Serves no purpose but to satisfy the computer. Don't even think I tested the car without.
Hey nice job , how does the car ride on the coilivers
Thanks. Sold her a few years ago. We back to stock after being on coil overs for a while, wanted my comfy ride back.
No lights, and motors left unplugged. No issues. Be careful with speed sensor wires or whatever they were on the spindle.

How can u push that down so easily. On my lexus it was impossible as 1 person. One need to push that bar and the other one need to take out the strut.
Do you have to compress the spring before removing it? And why did you tie it up with the rope?
Clearance. You can unbolt the lower suspension arm and wouldn't have to do that. I just wanted the spring to stay compressed, once removed, i compressed the spring with proper tools, cut the rope, and split up the strut assembly
How did you get your upper bar to hang so low? I cant get the new strut in because i dont have enough room
I used a long pipe I had in the garage, then switch to a pry bar. Step on one end with foot, slide assembly in, then release pry bar tension. You can probably use a 2x4 piece of wood.
@@tunedis95 thank you. I think it was because I pnly had the side I was working on jacked up. Didn't realize both sides need to be in the air

Late to the party, but Illustration and details were on point. Looking at the 06 GS430 i will use this for reference when lowering! Awesome

@@tunedis95 Wow, so you would recommend that car? I have never owned any lexus brand, but I may have to start looking. Appreciate it
Most reliable vehicle I ever had. In the years of ownership, only had a single check engine light. For a bad gas tank cap.
Hey ... where are you located?
Great Video my bro!!
What battery are you using bro?
Mahalo for making and sharing this video!
Aloha!!
Also wondering if aftermarker shocks that say "excluding avs suspension" were safe to install if check system lights haven't came on for you?
+MAXWELL TORNO (UNDRDGMAX) I have the adjustable suspension from factory. I installed non adjustable shocks/struts and have no lights. I believe I left my front motors attached and disconnected my rear motors. No lights, no issues.
Do you have a series of videos of you working on your GS?
Late reply, but yes. Just a few. One of waterpump and timing belt replacement.

I didn't feel a big difference either. I went back to stock 2 years later, super happy after I did.
Did you make adjustments or you put them on how they came?
I had actually purchased a used set, installed as is, and made adjustments after the install to get the height I wanted.
@@tunedis95 Did the electrical struts sensors gave you any problems?
How do you keep the VSC light from coming on because of the aftermarket shocks? I'd like to do this, but I don't want a VSC light.

Can I replace just the front and leave the rear oem?
Sure you can, I’m sure vehicle would just be off balance. Everyone will live though. Lol.
what was the drop on this in inches
What is the name of the tool you used to 'pop' the upper control arm? Looked like some sort of 'C' clamp. :S
+Xeno EXTornado Pitman Arm Puller. You can rent them from you local auto parts store.
Pretty sure you're suppose to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery
How does it ride with the coilers on it ?

Good work, I think I'll have to do my car myself too. LS430, but should be very similar.
Great work king✔️✔️✔️
Same process for gs350?
Unless AWD, I would assume so.
Whats up man how did the ride quality change?
+Kool Kutta I'm back to stock. Stiff ride got old really fast. I'm super happy with my car now that i have a nice wheel/tire combo.

So what was the offset and staggered numbers he wants 22s but I said they might hurt the trans.
Probably because the ride is alot stiffer. I have BC coil overs on my 07 GS450h and at setting 5 which is very soft, range is 1-30
