  • Join my family as I pilot this beautiful ‪@dahertbm‬ 850 from San Antonio (5C1) to Phoenix (KDRT). We have an unforgettable time at the ‪@fairmontscottsdale1‬ "Privado" resort, and then head over for a $$$$ lunch (well, considering the TBM flight + $100 landing fee) at the spectacular Sedona airport (KSEZ) Red Rock Café. This was truly a vacation that we will not forget.
For the pilots, I like to throw in a number of operating tips, some pilot short hands (ie decent planning), and some amusement of additional considerations flying with your wife and kids aboard. If you browse my other videos, some are more informative of the specific operations of the TBM.
    FLIGHT PLAN
    5C1-KDVT-KSEZ-5C1
    CHAPTERS
    00:00 - Intro & Showing Off Our ‪@BestTugsYT‬ R12
00:30 - Enroute from Boerne Stage Airfield (5C1) to Deer Valley (KDRT)
01:00 - Arrival into Busy Phoenix Airspace
03:50 - Landing into Deer Valley (KDRT)
04:50 - “We’re in (Boujee Ass) Arizona” | Fun in Scottsdale
07:00 - Departing for Sedona (Eating a Cirrus SR22 on the Parallel)
12:30 - Sedona (KSEZ) Approach and Landing
16:15 - Lunch in Sedona at Red Rock Grill
17:15 - VFR Departure from Sedona
19:15 - Landing, Good to Be Home!
Thank you for watching, and feel free to reach out for any suggestions, comments or questions! Also, if anyone has any questions on the TBM, aircraft ownership, or purchasing your first plane (to include a high performance pistons like a Cirrus), I'd love to hear from you, as my full time job is brokering aircraft at Mason Amelia. Feel free to reach out to me, and please subscribe, like, and share.
    Thanks for watching!

The History of Socata TBM (now Daher TBM)
The SOCATA TBM (now Daher TBM) is a family of high-performance single-engine turboprop manufactured by Daher. It was originally collaboratively developed between the American Mooney Airplane Company and French light aircraft manufacturer SOCATA. In fact, "TB" stands for Tarbes, France where Socata was located, and "M" stands for, you guessed it - Mooney!
The design of the TBM family originates from the Mooney 301, a comparatively low-powered and smaller prototype Mooney developed in the early 1980s. Following Mooney's acquisition by French owners, Mooney and SOCATA started a joint venture for the purpose of developing and manufacturing a new, enlarged turboprop design, which was designated as the TBM 700. Upon its entry onto the market in 1990, it was the first high-performance single-engine passenger/cargo aircraft to enter production.
Shortly after launch, the TBM 700 was a market success, which led to the production of multiple variants and improved models, often incorporating more powerful engines and new avionics. The TBM 850 is the production name assigned to the TBM 700N, an improved version of the aircraft powered by a single Pratt & Whitney PT6A-66D. In March 2014, an aerodynamically refined version of the TBM 700N, marketed as the TBM 900, then the 910 with standard G1000 NXi. The 930 arrived by 2016 with the G3000 flight deck, which was replaced by the 940 with autothrottles and autoland in 2019. As a crescendo in 2022, the magnificant TBM 960 has arrived, with the Fadec-controlled PT6E-66XT P&W engine (5,000 TBO). Daher TBM has become a powerhouse in business and personal aviation, around the globe with these impressively performing aircraft.

You made the right choice! Upgraded to the cirrus to the turbine. Much more reliable motor.

I’m blessed to have access to this awesome machine; however, still love the Cirrus for smaller or singular mission!

Awesome video my man! Congrats on that machine. Just curious, I just turned 18, in the midst of getting my PPL and ma interested in flying commercial. What did you do to afford this plane if you don’t mind me asking. Thanks!

Great video. I am considering the TBM as my "dream plane" after I build hours in an SR22 - about halfway through my PPL now. Can I ask what range you get flying with your family? I have 3 kids, and it is difficult to find any info online outside of max range. Thanks!

Thanks for checking out my video! If you check out my website showroom on www.masonamelia.com, we’re bringing an 850 to market, N859CA. A full TH-cam video to follow so stay tuned!
Anyway, the useful load of that one is 2,782 - 292 gallons of Jet A (6.7/g) or just over 800 lbs full fuel payload.
Taking 900 lbs 1,000 nm (with reserve) is quite doable. Hope this helps. Feel free to shoot me an email jesse@masonamelia.com

@@LookingforHigher thanks that is super helpful. I wish operators were more forthcoming with actual range for real world missions - not just single pilot, no passengers or luggage, and full fuel ha. I'll be on the lookout for the 850! But it will probably be a couple years before I'm ready for that level investment (and that level aircraft).

Great video! Did that C210 land while you were on the runway? He called final while you were over the numbers and then cleared the runway before you…🥴 20:41

Thanks for checking my video out! I actually know that pilot… It looked screwy due to video editing. I believe I exited the runway because he was on my back, then he reverse taxied, and I reentered the rwy behind him as we were both taxiing the same way. Either way… that guy!!
