I literally got my very first spd sx pro yesterday. Never used an spd before! Been looking on TH-cam since I got it and your videos are the best ones to explain it. Specially for a guy who’s having the very first touch on this ! Lol thank u ! Looking forward to find a video explaining bout the click ! 😁😁😁
That’s amazing, thank you Daniel! And congrats on your new SPD-SX PRO! Happy to help where I can, what are you looking to learn about the click? Just an overall how-to use it? Want to make sure I’m hitting all the pointers you need when I make the video!
I have to say your videos are really helpful really well presented and amusing as well !! But at the same time you get to the point .. im just about to upgrade to the spd sx pro , and have found this really helpful. Thankyou for taking the time out to share your knowledge and expertese . take really good care and keep em coming !! Tony D :)

Top stuff Harry! It is very clever, but me going from no SPD-SX, straight to SPD-SX PRO yikes! lots to learn! so, many watches of your videos on this in store!! 👍
Thanks so very much for the very helpful video!!! Much appreciated. You mentioned that if you didn't like your adjustments you could simply reset. How do you do that?
Hi Harry and thanks a lot for your very helpful tutorials around the spd sx pro !!! I have one question and I hope you can help me out with that problem. The last 8 years I used the spd sx and I need it especially to run back a lot of backing tracks and LOOPS !!! With the spd sx it was no prob to adjust the pads that way, that when you hit one pad than the other stop playing. That worked withe 'mute group 1' perfectly. BUT with the new spd sx pro you have tons of adjustments in the mute group BUT you can just define which pad (only one!!!) should stop when hitting another pad...... that doesn't work for my kind of work I need that machine.... Do you have any solution for that item ????????? Looking forward to your answer, thank you very much and greetings from Germany. Andi
At the 5:00 mark on your excellent video You show a drop down where you can select a loop to loop x2, x4, x8. Is this only on the app or is it available on the SPD-SX PRO Itself? I just got mine yesterday and I don't see that dropdown. I am waiting for a cord to hook to my computer so I can use the app as well. Thanks for the video it will save some time once I get the app and you presented very well.
Thank you for the kind words!! And a great point - I haven’t seen the option on the PRO for the loops either, so I’d presume it’s App only. That being said, I found that a lot of the options on the App are much more easily accessible because of the bigger screen size/it’s on a computer, so it may be that they are on the Pro but hidden away somewhere. I’m not sure where though!
Subscribed Thanks for the quick reply Harry. After my question I looked again, if you turn the value knob it will offer the options of x2,x4,x8. Thanks to you I found it. I tried to down load the APP it wont work. It asks if I want to install the cloud install manager. I have already confirmed it is installed. When I hit down load the app it asks the same question again (want to install the cloud install manager) Maybe my computer is to old? @@DrumElectric
That's amazing!! I knew it'd be in there somewhere. Great find! In terms of the APP, that's incredibly strange. Are you going through the steps in the Cloud Manager to download it? So downloading directly from the Cloud Manager rather than the website? If it's still not working, I know that the Roland Support guys are incredibly helpful, so it may be worth getting in touch with them, too
Not sure how but I was able to get it down loaded. I used it a few time's and it is a lot quicker and easer to use (less button pushing) than the unit itself. Thanks again. @@DrumElectric
So if you’re fully factory resetting, you can head to the Roland website and download the file (it’s free!), then you’d need to put that on a memory stick and into the SPD-SX Pro. They lay out all the instructions perfectly and it’s super easy to do
I appreciate your video. I have seen lots of different answers, but I was wondering. Am I able to use the spd-sx pro app while not plugged into the spd-sx pro? I want to be able to program at a coffee shop and then load it all in when I get back my studio. Thank you for your help.
Very informative, just wondering though if wave samples can be imported via the spd pro x app rather than a USB memory stick going straight to the back of the spd?
@jeremylrodrigues892 not directly for importing audio. But the good news is that you can pretty much drag and drop the audio file into the SPD-SX Pro App, and it’s as easy as that
Thank you for your video. I have recently upgraded from the SPD-SX to the SPD-SX Pro. I created over 80 different kits on the SPD-SX. Can I transfer my Kits from the SPD-SX to the SPD-SX Pro? I can't seem to find a way to do so.
@@DrumElectric Thanks for your quick response and your excellent videos. Creating a backup from the SPD-SX doesn't work with the pro, either. I have over 1100 WAV files in the SPD-SX. The only option I see is that I have to save each one individually. Do you know a quicker way for me to do so as a WAV file?
@DevinWalker-ti8er That’s correct. A painful thing to discover after buying it! The only thing I recommend is using the ‘SPD-SX Editor’ app rather than Roland’s supplied Wave Manager for the SPD-SX. significantly easier to use for a small price. That way whilst exporting the WAV files, the experience should be better
Hey Henry, love the style love the knowledge, got one for Christmas to replace my aged SPDS which was tough to work with..... I am doing something really silly but cannot fathom... I've made new kits/patches using the App, all play really well on the headphones. I only connected "Master Out L" to the desk and found not all the pads were playing through the desk, though on the screen you could see they were playing (I also have the Led's to show playing which was ok too!). Do I need to connect both L and R channels, the SPDS was master mono out left so only ever connected via one output.... as I've imported these, I am guessing these maybe mono channels or something... Did try to be grown up and read the manual, what a few youtube vids, but failing! Hope you can help me thanks for all the efforts in these videos, they are concise which aint an easy thing to do!!!
Thanks so much for the kind words Garry! That’s an interesting one, as it sounds like you’ve done all the right things. L/Mono should mean it all comes out. My first thought would be routing - are those specific pads routed to somewhere other than the main outputs? It might be that they’re only to Headphones. And easy way to check this too is to see if all the pads are outputted when you connect the headphones out to your mixer rather than the master
@@DrumElectric Thanks Harry and sorry for calling you Henry! Good thoughts, I looked at the main menu after trawling the manual once again, and the main outputs were set to Stereo, so I have changed to Mono on both L and R so.......
