I watched the whole video and at the end of this topic all you guys had to say was ‘proper regulation and use of tiktok can be done’ as said by random nepali and ‘choose what you prefer to watch or else hit the ‘not interested’ button as said by You (Sushant).
What you guys talked in this podcast was only one side of the story because..
This conflict wouldn’t be created if people were so smart to choose between what’s good/bad for them to see and only take good information from tiktok.
TikTok’s algorithm can work only for those people who cannot get influenced by other things rather then of their interest.
Only a person who possess high intellect can decide what’s good for him/her. The world wouldn’t be full of chaos if every individual was intellectual. And ofc every Nepali doesn’t possess that quality.
Tiktok in between Nepalese was like ‘napaune le kra pako bokrai sanga khako’
Unlike other social platforms TikTok’s influence managed to create obscenity among Nepalese in very very short span of time. Majority of Nepalese got themselves trapped into this tiktok’s cycle where there was no productiveness. Only few smart people like you could choose to rather get influenced by other subjects or not.
The main reason behind tiktok getting banned is because majority of Nepalese failed to preserve morality.!
Only a fool will say that ‘we cannot ban tiktok just because it has some negative influence, because tiktok also have some positive sides’
When in reality we’ve already seen how it has demoralized majority of people and created nasty society. We cannot unsee/neglect huge amount of negativity just because there is small amount of positivity in it. Good is good and bad is bad. But regarding TikTok, negativity weighted more than positivity which led to it getting banned.
Nepal Government took very smart step by banning tiktok rather than trying to fit it into Nepali Society. Our government choose to work smarter rather than harder.

We ain’t gonna die without tiktok in our lives. It’s more concerning what ‘MCC’ is doing in eastern side of Nepal rn.

he literally clarified this with an analogy with the torrenting technology. 95% of torrent users use torrent to pirate software and movies. but it can't be banned. why? because torrent in itself is a technology. and you cannot ban a technology just because majority of people use it for a purpose other than it was intended for. similarly tiktok is a video sharing tool. let's say your anecdotal evidence about "majority people" misusing it is actually true. even with that it can't be banned. because there were people using it as a tool to do something good. and just to protect the interest of minorities it can't be banned.
and the point about "morality and demorality" and all he said that moral policing is not the duty of government. if you are affected by tiktok on a personal level you restrict its use personally. not ban the platform.

I want tiktok back because I don't think we young generation are affected by it in a negative way. If the question is about inappropriate contents I think these contents come up on 30+ (uncle and aunty) people's tiktok only. Its simple tiktok is based on our preferences. By saying that there are inappropriate contents in tiktok, which was the reason the government banned it in nepal, they are exposing themselves.😂. It's a you problem for the government officials not a we problem here. Personally, for me, no inappropriate content was shown in my fyp ever in tiktok. Most youths didn't even know that such scandalous video was uploaded in tiktok. It was after the newspapers announced this as a reason for the ban that we knew about the scandal. So we youths find it ridiculous. Its high time ban on tiktok is uplifted.

The government doesn't want youths to live in Nepal. Banning Tiktok, making online marketing illegal and all other stuff discourage the youths to do anything here. No youth means no threat to their position. (Since a lot of youths are motivated to join politics after Balen). This is a serious issue and If we dont do something about this, this country will be unlivable.

There are countless drawbacks than its benefits especially in tiktok in current time in our country that doesn't mean other social media doesn't have any drawbacks they have too but what tiktok has in recent days is beyond its limit. Its negative effect on the society , lifestyle and people will be miserable in the near future we are not even thinking of that..are we taking the responsibility for the price we have to pay in future?its time to keep social intrest above all. The effect on our social structure and social harmony should not be neglected at the cost of our personal benefits and freedom so gon decision to ban at this point of time is totally justified. Gov should bring concrete plan and strategy to regulate and make tiktok a healthy platform for all till then ban shouldn't be removed.
Please elaborate. I'm keen to hear your opinion on why "Freedom of speech" needs to be compromised in this manner.

First why are we advocating the app that is build by some nation? Who do you complain if tik tok is terminated in the host nation? Isn’t it like banning export of some goods? Isn’t it completely fine?
The subject isn't the app itself but our "Freedom of speech" and not being a nanny state. Tiktok, in this instance, is just a symbol of that.
