    One thing to keep in mind when comparing value of points to book flights on Chase’s travel portal vs transferring points to an airline, such as United, is that often times, it is much easier and quicker to get a refund on a flight you want to cancel if you book with points directly with an airline (ie using points for award travel).

    You know a good idea for videos I’m sure many people would like to see is how to book specific hard to get business class and first class seats. Like how to fly to Japan in ANA first using points. Or booking Emirates first. Etihad first etc.

    another thing to keep in mind warriors, having cards (such as the cobranded united cards) make booking award travel trigger saver categories and make flights cheaper directly through the airlines themselves as well. not to mention it's just easer directly dealing with the airlines

      Best transfer partner for domestic flights is British airways. You can book a American Airlines flight on British airways with avios for extremely low costs. Economy 1 way tickets to most of the USA starting at 9,000 avios one way. You’ll be looking at a points evaluation of around 1.5-2 cents per point in most circumstances

    Living in Monterey Alila Big Sur isn't worth half what the dollar prices are listed at. I would love to learn about how this scam works. You earn points using your credit card, then give those points instead of cash to the hotel. Demand is created because the hotel has a high listed cash price, deceiving consumers into thinking there is value there. I suppose this theory could be tested by identifying how many cash paying customers this hotel gets. Do any of these credit card TH-camrs have access to such data?

    When you mention redeeming Marriott points, you use the points as if they replace the dollars per night. Marriot describes a stay as, "all consecutive 'nights'..." Wouldn't that mean that using the hotel points for a Marriott hotel would be a much better value since with a 1-to-1 transfer of points would be able to cover an entire trip to a hotel versus paying the per night rate?

Basically I want to use my work trips to build up as many points as possible and then use those points to help pay for personal trips. Is the best way to do that to purchase all my work trips through the Chase portal to get the most points and then transfer points to the transfer partners for personal trips?

    Actually you do not get $.034 value when booking a Southwest companion pass award ticket. If you pay for the flight while holding a companion pass, you only have to pay for 1 ticket plus taxes on the second ticket. If you book award tickets, you only pay, in miles, for the first ticket, the second ticket only costs the taxes.
    Having a companion pass makes flying Southwest much cheaper in cash or points. The companion pass does not significantly change the choice between buying with cash or with points.

    Ben I have a question.
    I have 3 Online store
    Pet store, Beauty & Fashion, & Emileo's World. Which I hope can compete against Amazon.
    As you can see any of these stores can turn big.
    I'm focusing on the pet store mostly for now because it's live and running compared to the other two that are still being worked on.
    My question is I recently started receiving pre-approve letters for credit cards from banks this includes AMEX & Chase.
    So is it worth it to open any credit card?
    Should all my store have credit cards?
    Or should I only open for one?

    If we want to avoid booking flights/hotels through the Chase Travel Portal (meaning also missing out on the $50 annual hotel credit) is it worth transferring points at the 1:1 ratio or would it be better to go for a cash back card? From what I’ve seen and heard many people have had problems booking through the portal since it’s a third party and I’d rather book directly with the airlines and hotels. I have a cash back card that gets me 3% on dining, I don’t use DoorDash, don’t buy online groceries or gopuff, don’t use Lyft, and would likely spend no more than $2000 when traveling - which at 3% foreign transaction fees still is under the annual fee.

    • @TheCreditShifu
      @TheCreditShifu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So yeah if you dont want to use the portal you can transfer at a 1:1 ratio to airlines and hotels. With airlines you will often get 2c in value per point or more. With hyatt hotels you often get 1.5 to 1.7 c value. If you transfer out to cash back then that is considered low value for chase points

    • @Eurovie
      @Eurovie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheCreditShifu got it thanks. Would you say the card is still worth it to me then? How would I be getting 1.5c or more when transferring to airlines if points transfer 1:1? Wouldn’t it be better to just use a cash back card for 3% on dining.

    • @peterm707
      @peterm707 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Eurovie by comparing the cost of the flight using points vs buying with cash. A $400 cash flight costing 30,000 for example. Many people have multiple cards so you can use the cash back card for dining and a Chase card for everything else.

    How is Ben seeing those Marriott rates? Every time I look at Bonvoy the rates are insane. The Grand Cayman Ritz shows unavailable, but the seven mile resort, which is category 7, is 280,000 points. 100k points is still high compared to Hyatt, but at least it's not in another stratosphere. JW Miami is 160k points. I wish we could see the dates he has selected but that still seems like a crazy difference.

    • @TheCreditShifu
      @TheCreditShifu  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you selecting more than one day at a time? I believe it gives you the total, if you select more than one night. My advice for hotels is search just one night first, then if there is availability, see if you can extend the search and build a longer trip. When i stayed at the Ritz GC a few years back it was just 60k a night!
