I almost always get under a bigger and stronger opponent. About half a minute after the match starts, I will be underneath them. Usually in side control, sometimes in mount, but always getting choked out...
@mattrange2126 Hi Matt. Sorry for the late response, but I'm sort of hit or miss with TH-cam. Yes, I'm still training. As for getting choked out by bigger guys, not really, but it kind of depends. If we are similar in skill, it doesn't seem to matter too much, but if they are more experienced, I'm in for a hard roll (harder than usual, lol). If my opponent is less experienced, it's not really an issue. I might not be able to submit them if they are much stronger than me, but I don't really have to worry about them being able to submit me.
Need to watch this 3x in a row to drill this into my head. Love the way he goes back and forth between upper and lower body depending on their reaction. I literally never think about this.
This reminds me of the way Neil Melanson approaches K Guard. Very cool to see someone else come to a similar idea with a different system and in gi no less. Looks like a good instructional.
I feel like mikey was talking to me personally. I'm 130 pounds always the lightest guy on the mat and have to deal with bigger people. I'm gonna try this
i dont think he made it anywhere near clear enough on when you're supposed to attack upper compared to lower. i mean hes saying see look? but i see nothing about how any weight changed at all
The title of the video puzzled me a bit. A do Japanese Ju Jitsu and get underneath a bigger and stronger opponent all the time with zero effort. The guys get ippons for that and I get stuck in side control. We call it a takedown.

Yep, I feel that. U still training? If so do you still end up getting choked by bigger guys?
You have no idea how hard it is to do when they want to run from you
😂 that was gold

This is gold. How he explains to go for either the lower body or upper body is wild
Mikey is the man, I'm gonna grab that instructional!
A very strong point is made here! You need to know as a BB where their weight is at all times.

Upper body and lowe body.
Give this Italian super Genius some blue mats and put them in his living room. 3 years later Jiu-Jitsu is a whole different ball game
7:20
Holy shit I didn't know that I didn't know that 😂
This is great in gi, but what's the plan in nogi without grips? Big dudes gonna do big dude things and crush me lol!
pretty sure it would be impossible to watch an interview between mike and john… impossible to find a good sound volume
genius
Damn that bruised eye tho
Is this called K-guard?
Jesus and Jui-Jitsu. Can't go wrong with that pair.
So use K guard ...
Sounds like the James Franco of BJJ 😂 probably the coolest dude to hang with.
Mclovin
Rewatching until I can sweep the 6’1 255+ Goliath at my gym.
James Franco
You’re different. And I’m different too. Different is good. But different is hard. Believe me, I know.
Hyoooge honour
Why does Mikey look like a Franco bro who trains?
looks like y'boy is sporting a black eye. wonder how that happened.
Just a wild guess; BJJ?
@@flytec maybe his sister whopped him in the face because siblings.
Its a birth mark
