Just to clarify before all the comments pour in: I know it's implied that there is some alternate dimension thing going on with the time chamber, but for the sake of learning about time travel and time dilation I decided to consider a scenario I could put numbers to.
Kyle Hill Time dilation works even with the alternate dimension. In relative terms to the alternate dimension, one or both theories could be true without the Earth's gravitational field increasing 2000 fold or the Earth reaching almost the speed of light, as, in comparison to the HBTC, it could "feel" that way to the alternate dimension.
Kyle Hill All this time I had remembered the Time Chamber as a gravity chamber, probably because of the way the characters moved while inside of it.. Huh, ironic. Or is it?!
Kyle Hill Well I would have said that, rather than the earth increasing in speed/gravity, the tiny planetoid upon which the time chamber actually rests would be doing the velocity/gravity changes in order to achieve the dilation necessary.
but that is only specified in the Boo saga, in the Cell saga (the best by far) your theory is still pretty appropriate. And the gravity is 10 times the one we have on earth, how is that possible if the gravity must be ridiculously higher on the Earth?
The boredom of all the students combined creates a gigantic sphere of mass that creates a gravity field so powerful that bends time inside school, making it go slower. Also, that's why when summer begins you feel like it's been only a few weeks of school.
+Nerdist It is in another dimension, also it is stated in the English dub (I am unsure about the manga) that the Hyperbolic Time Chamber has a gravity that is 10x Earths gravity.
At the very least, it has to be in a different time/space to account for it's infinite size.. In this scenario, the time dilation could be caused by near light speeds, gravity, or (most likely) a combination of both.
The HBTC is another dimension, this is better explained in the Buu saga (Super Buu shouts a rift in space-time to escape it even). It has infinite size, and gravity increases as you get further away from the door. Then there's the 48 hour limit thing...
Well... actually the time chamber isnt a place on earth at all. The door to it is simply on it. Its a separate dimension entirely as seen when piccolo blew the door down, the only way to escape was to generate enough energy to literally rip apart the barriers between dimensions.
+DeadToMe I dont mean DBZ energy. I mean basic energy. Vibrations are a form of energy as they are in motion with said motion being transferable to things like from an i-pod to your inner ear. Plus I'm pretty sure they used ki to amplify their voice in the first place.
You forgot that the world of Dragon Ball has the world ruled by a cat. I always liked the Narnia explanation: "If it's a different world, surely time moves differently there."
It would be nice to see a video where you address how strong the human body could ever possibly be (including cybernetics, but no complete synthetic bodies), addressing methods used by just about every popular superhero who started out as human
I believe so. And it would make sense that the chamber is actually a portal to that empty realm rather than the scientific explanations here. As for the one year over there at a time, that is open to explanation.
They are, he's trying to relate it to our world. In the time chamber dimension, time and space are still bonded to the same direction the regular world is going... Only... The dimension is affected by time much greater, most likely due to it being smaller than regular dimension
Coldwolf thank you. The chamber isn't on earth at all, there is just a door connecting the lookout to the other dimension, where time behaves differently than on earth.
Timothy Jon 10G's wouldn't affect time by that much, Also Time dilation via gravity slows time relative to earth not speeds it up. In other words if you used gravity to warp time instead of something else, you would actually have LESS time to train in there than you would normally.
Well on Buu's saga we learn that the Time Chamber sits on a different dimension (by which they mean an alternative universe) so all that's necessary is to think that the place the chamber stand on the other universe is either moving that fast or that massive.
Wslasher I’m pretty sure Grant Morrison always intended it to be affected by relativity. He is a big fan of science after all so it’s not that the video fixed it but more like it just explained it outright.
isnt time for those inside faster rather than slower? if so, then you took the inside time as the observer reference, so as a time dilation is occuring outside the time chamber. However in this case we're looking for time contraction, since the real reference time point should be the side of earth. your math should be correct but it should be a negative mass, given that this time the space-time fabric is not being pulled, but streched (there's a reason why they call it hyperbolic). My only explanation is that the chamber is powered by a white hole of the mass you mentioned.
The hyperbolic time chamber is not on earth nor is it anywhere near earth, it is basically its own separate universe. When you step into the hyperbolic time chamber, noone can sense your presence, not even the supreme kais who have the ability to sense anyone on earth even if they're light years away. It does have increased gravity though, 10x that of earth's gravity.

My son showed me about Kyle Hill and now i can't get enough of this guy.. Very funny and super smart. I want to get my son a shirt with a picture of Kyle and a Light saber as he says "surprise Light-saber"! Keep it up Mr.Kyle thank you sir.
It's already explained in the show that the hyperbolic time chamber is actually a doorway into another dimension, in the buu saga piccolo lured buu into the time chamber to fight gotenks when he taught gotenks was going to lose piccolo destroyed the doorway trapping the 3 of them. Buu ended up getting angry and released so much energy he made a wormhole/tear in space and time to escape. It's still a good theory you could have backed up the gravitational time dilation theory further if you mentioned what goku said to gohan after they first entered "the air gets denser the further you go" and "It stretches for an eternity" so the further they went from the door the higher the gravity became causing the atmosphere to compress and with no end to the plane the gravity would increase infinitely. The differential gravity could also explain the freak weather (air igniting as they were sparing and freezing into mountains of ice instantly while goku was training by himself)
Bandit Leader They can change the speed cap of the Universe so why shouldn't it be able to change the flow of time? ( using Slipspace as reference for the speed thing) Also you've got magic in The DBZ universe (Babadi is an example of that) so why not use that to Speed up the Passage of time
Aubu Atmora because 1, dimensions cant change the speed cap of the universe, even if they could, changing the cap would change all of time in the universe. 2, magic cant control time.
I think there is an error, time should be quicker inside the chamber and not slower than outside, because the point is that you're a full year inside but outside only one day had passed, not the other way arround. if the time inside the chamber were the slower one, then it will be the oposite, one day inside would be a year outside.
As many others have already stated. The chamber is a different dimension. There is a door thats connects to a different dimension. Meaning, even if you go on the lookout but not in the hyperbolic time chamber, time still moves normally on earth, it only starts being different as soon as you enter the room.
The Time Chamber isn't just some room in the Lookout above Earth. Its door is literally a portal to a different dimension. There IS intense gravity in the Chamber, it's remarked upon by multiple characters when they visit it.
The Time Chamber is in immense gravity, it's evident in the show, Trunks was used to training in the Gravity Chamber with Vegeta yet when he was in the time chamber he had a hard time walking at first.
Qwert Yuiop no time passes faster in the hyperbolic time chamber, they go in there to do a years training in a day not to do a days training in a year.
We all know for a fact that Sayadjins can live in conditions of abnormous gravity, they all train in chambers of enhanced gravity to get stronger quickly, so I think that the Time Chamber works by the principle of time dilation by gravity. The gravity inside Time Chamber is ridiculously powerful, making the training conditions even better. Time Chamber can recreate perfect weather conditions, so it also can modify gravity.
An excellent, informative video, although I am now left wondering whether the same effect could be applied inversely relative to the characters. Theoretically, rather than the Hyperbolic Time Chamber quickening the rotation of the Earth or increasing its mass/gravity, could the same ends by achieved by applying the reverse to Goku and Gohan? For instance, if the Time Chamber *lowered* the gravity of its occupants by equivalent factors, or its interior was spinning more slowly than the Earth, could this Time Dilation still occur?
The Time Chamber is a pocket dimension of some kind, so the physics don't really apply here. But the video was very well created if you wanted to find logic to the Time Chamber outside of dimensions.
@0:27-It's actually 365 times faster, not "365 times more slowly". Also noteworthy: Even within the hyperbolic time chamber, there is further relativity which compounds the 365.25 times accelerated flow of time, as the further you get from the access point, the higher the gravity, greater the humidity thinner the air...
He is neglecting the fact that the Hyper Bolic Time Chamber was confirmed as an entrance to another dimension or a "pocket dimension" if you will. this would mean that, while his theories on why time passes slower could possibly still apply, the Earth and Time Chamber are not connected at all
I'm pretty sure that they are on something like a white dwarf or neutron star when they enter the room of Time and Space. Point is, they sure don't look like they are on Earth if you've actually watched the show.
For future topics, could you explain Wolverine's adamantium skeleton, his bone claws, and how it all fits together without him being too heavy to walk, let alone fight?
I will go with the gravity theory. If I recall correctly, when Goku and Gohan enters the chamber, Goku warns his son not to wander too far from the center building; (As a shot from above, it shows the building as the center of the endless white field); the reason why he says this, as he tells Gohan, is that the father you go from the building, the stronger gravity becomes. Like, walk ten feet away from the central building and gravity becomes x5 more of normal earth, and the more you walk farther the stronger it gets the increasing gravity. This may effect the time delay thingy with gravity theory.
+The Flamebolt I like to think that the time chamber is in another planet which is close to black hole (you'we seen the intertelar), since the palace is full of doors and places that works like wormholes.
+Adomas Seputis You got that backwards. Black holes and increases in gravity slow time for the users, not speed up. the hyperbolic time chamber speeds up the time for those inside by 365 times, and the video is trying to quantify that speed up as a slow down on the planet earth. Remember in interstellar, the ones who go closer to the black hole come back out of its effects only hours older, while those outside are years older. they lost time.
Oh yes, I totally messed up. So since earth is moving aruond sun, sun is moving against galaxy and so on, is it possible to have a planet somewhere that is moving slow enough relative to earth to get such effect?
Your hypotheses on how it works is basically when they enter the speed chamber something happens in earth, either speed changes, or gravity changes, while in the speed chamber things remain normal. Wouldn't it make more sense that the speed chamber is basically not a chamber but rather a door to another dimension in which the place they are has a different rotation speed or gravitational force that makes the time in it pass differently rather than changing what is happening outside the chamber?
The chamber is in another dimension and the time dilation is because of gravity, since the moment Gohan steps into it, he collapses and complains how heavy it is.
+Benjamin Drinkwater It most certainly is not because of the gravity, the gravity there just happens to be strong but has no connection whatsoever with the time there. The gravity there is only 10 times stronger than Earth, like planet Vegeta or King Kai's planet.
+Benjamin Drinkwater if the gravity was the cause, since goku's in the heavier gravity, his time would slow down, the opposite of what actually happens
I think it has to do something with being in that dimension, but what might it be.,. and yes, gravity makes time go faster, that's why clocks in space need to be adjusted so often.,.
"But hey we are talking about a show with multiple resurrections and magic balls and talking dragons" Kyle is more amazed by the fact that a dragon can speak than by the fact of the existence of dragons, that's how awesome he is xD
I'm gonna say it's the ladder but more emphasis on pressure then acceleration, there was an episode where goku explained to gohan why they weren't training in the HTC saying it's too much of a strain on the body. Plus there is also the time both buu and gotenks ripped through the fabric of time and space by yelling, with the logic explained, sounds like maybe a cosmic echo was made allowing both parties to escape the htc
I always think it was a different dimension with different time... the chamber is not in the same dimension of earth his gravity is more than earth but is not that the point... being in a different dimension will mean there are other laws of physics
I think the hyperbolic time chamber IS a gravitational time dilation because it's possible that the door open to another area in the universe, perhaps orbiting a super massive black hole, in which gravity is so strong that it dilates time. That or it's quantum fixed to not move, while the universe moves at almost a speed of light rate around it (less probable)
I always figured it was linked more so to the gravity in the time chamber. Goku even tells Gohan that the gravity in the time chamber is heavier and the first time Gohan goes in he struggles to stand. The fact that the duo weren't turned into less than goo I figured is just narrative liberty.
white wall gazing, strong & weak magnetic fields, more or less psi controls, cold oxygen can be magnetized so i guess other gasses could be attracted to certain areas too.
My theory, and I have a feeling it's pretty plausible considering this is Dragonball we're talking about, is that the hyperbolic time chamber is in reality a contained singularity. This would tick the gravity checkbox and offer a way for the time chamber to be the source of it's own power. My quarrel with my own theory is that the time chamber has been destroyed before. Once in super that I can recall right now, and I'd think releasing a singularity like that would wreck havoc on a cosmic scale, sooooo. Yeah.
Every time I go to the sauna at the gym I feel like that's how it'd be in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. *There's also the conundrum that there is increased gravity the further you go inside the HTC.
funny fact, inside the HBTC there is a large clock and when you walk out the center entrance, time increases every step you take into an endless white void.
The theory of that the place is 2000 times bigger than the sun is the most plausible because when goku goes in it the first time he gets warned by Kami that if he goes too far, he'll get lost and die which may imply that the area is either "infinite" or just fucking huge in itself.
Prana Khan You will also age much quicker then the people outside. Soo it may not be as good as you think...unless you willing to sacrifice some of your life.
akimboDEEZ I thought you would age slower, thats what i get for being a dense martial artist haha. Guess the old masters were right, you can't cheat your way to the top. Even fantastically.
Hi Kyle from what I remember from the DBZ time chamber is it's a room that actually works as it's own dimension or a pocket dimension. So can it not be possible since it's a dimension separate from the earth that time and even gravity maybe denser than earths and time moves at a different speed. I think thats what akira toriyama might have been aiming for. Later on in the majin boo saga they try to trap majin boo in the time chamber by destroying the door and they succeed, but then majin boo powers up and screams so hard he punches a whole right throw spacetime and gets out (I know that's way to convenient , but this is no attack on titan writing!!! lol) ....I only use this cause think DBZ was trying to explain the vastness and intense gravity and abnormal weather changes of the chamber. ... I enjoyed your take on time dilation and I love watching nerdist and because science and the dan cave. I hope my explanation doesn't come off condescending( I'm just a big DBZ fan and I felt like I knew enough to say something) Keep up the good work and just know nerdist has fans in the Bahamas. ... Thanks for reading.
Actually, you can skew time with just velocity (mass and velocity are energy calculations and the total energy equates to gravitation). There are also various cheats you can use but most involve cutting through the bulk, or pushing massive objects through spinning space.
Two things: 1. as stated many times in these comments, the hyperbolic time chamber exists in a separate dimension than Earth, so anything going on inside will have no effect on the world outside, case in point, when Piccolo blew up the entrance from within the chamber, the door on the outside was completely unaffected, even though it's literally the same door. 2. there is in fact a higher gravity inside the chamber, which goes nicely with the theory that the time dilution is cause by higher gravity. Boom, case closed.
I like these theories a lot, especially the gravity one because it makes the most sense when you think about how the gravity within the chamber was suppose to be like. However, some stuff from the show confuses me and makes me think there's really no way to logically explain the chamber. I mean, firstly, it was described at first that it was another dimension - not just a room that slows down time. I believe it might of been mentioned in Dragon Ball - prior to DBZ actually. This dimension bit is also proven during the Buu saga when both Buu and SSJ3 Gotenks have to yell and shout their way out of the place once the door was broken. Another thing that confuses me is the portal they created and the door. When open, time flows at a 1:1 ratio. I think the best thing here is to chalk it up to Kami's divine power. However, I think even Kami is not exempt from the rule of never allowed to enter more than two times - which makes me think it might be something bigger than him. We know the Kai's exist and are of a higher "pay" grade than that of Kami - perhaps he learned something or was given the room? Perhaps the room just always existed on the lookout. Idk, its 4 in the morning and I'm not thinking straight lol. Knowing what I know from the show - Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super now - and what they have told us; I think its just a broken concept. Logically, your theories are probably on the marker for HOW to do it if we(man) we're to attempt creating such a thing, but how its actually done in the show is.. well, I have no idea really. Probably gravity within the chamber itself slowing down time somehow.. Or speeding it up.. Idk, I'm going to bed. xD
since the hyperbolic timechamber is on a different plane of existance (not using "dimension", as that means something else in physics) - the door could simply be a portal to a location that moves slower then earth (as the faster you go, the slower time goes)
the increased gravity theory would make more sense in the show because Goku did say that in the time chamber the gravity is heavier. plus Gohan did say that the air was very heavy and if the air in the time chamber came from the outside the only way the air density would increase would be if the gravity had increased in the chamber.
Time travel forward in time *is* possible and anyone can do it. Step 1. Look at your watch and record the time. Step 2. Wait 10 minutes. Step 3. Look at your watch and record the time. Bam! You just travelled 10 minutes into the future at 1x faster than the speed of time!!
You can actually travel backwards in time and its very easy. Just stand ad the board between MST and CST zone and walk into the MST - 1 hour backwards in time.
Considering that the gravity on the Hyperbolic Chamber is 10x that of the earth, you wouldn't need less speed to warp time? Plus, it's explained in the series that the chamber is in another dimension, so that could mean there's other rules for that particular dimension, which would allow it to exist and have the time be warped the way it is.
Different planets have longer days and time than Earth, It's entirely possible that Frieza's home planet's 5 minutes is longer than our 5 minutes. You also have to take into account that some things are taking place at the same time as Frieza and Goku's fight
Just gonna say, hyperbolic time chamber uses increased gravity in a potentially infinite pocket dimension that is travelling at an incredible speed, but is still, relative to the earth that is only connected by one metaphysical portal
Somewhat unrelated to the video, but hearing you mention when the theory of relativity got started made me realize something. The Cubs' last world series victory very nearly predates the theory of relativity. THAT'S HILARIOUS!
+Nerdist I agree with everything except for your final conclusion, it could be gravitational as both Goku and Vegeta have trained in different gravaties (Planet Vegeta is 10x that of earth, as well as king kai's plabet and also goku trained in 100x earths gravity)
Just to add, when Goku takes Gohan into the chamber, he tells Gohan the gravity is different inside the chamber and that it will take time to get used to.
Dude I've been going through all these episodes and you can literally scroll down the playlist and see his hair growing towards and then past Thor length loll
From what I remember in DBZ in the time chamber gravity IS heavier its shown when Gohan trys to walk out of the building he almost face plants due to gravity Inside the time chamber being stronger then outside
time dilation formula.. how did you get Velocity to equal the spin of the earth below the chamber? what would the V equal if not that? is the velocity just speed of a given surrounding area? or just plug and play??
We also have to remember twin Paradox so it's most likely gravitational time dialation(likely powered by a magical black whole) but then what's stopping them from being subjected to space time tearing gravity?
Just to clarify before all the comments pour in: I know it's implied that there is some alternate dimension thing going on with the time chamber, but for the sake of learning about time travel and time dilation I decided to consider a scenario I could put numbers to.
Kyle Hill lol I was actually going to say that. I'll just keep quiet, haha.

I fucking know right? XD

The school is now back up.
Don't mind me, just... rubbing it back in!
AnyOtherName LikeMashugana lol
I think DBZ is in a reverse hyperbolic time chamber. A minute of powering up in the show is 10 episodes in real life.
Hello 2016
What if the Time Chamber is actually in another dimension?
Our minds are BLOWN.
+Nerdist It is in another dimension, also it is stated in the English dub (I am unsure about the manga) that the Hyperbolic Time Chamber has a gravity that is 10x Earths gravity.
+Nerdist how did get so smart
At the very least, it has to be in a different time/space to account for it's infinite size.. In this scenario, the time dilation could be caused by near light speeds, gravity, or (most likely) a combination of both.
The HBTC is another dimension, this is better explained in the Buu saga (Super Buu shouts a rift in space-time to escape it even). It has infinite size, and gravity increases as you get further away from the door. Then there's the 48 hour limit thing...

capsule corp must use some kind of pocket dimension tech.
Or just get Gotenks to scream.
+ThelostAcrane its at kamis lookout not capsule corp
it wasnt energy that gotenks used to rip the barrier it was the vibration and frequency of his voice
Rami Ungar Well that technically does follow suit, even Kyle said so himself with his part about the Earth have more of a gravity field.
Rami Ungar the dragon ball world is actually ruled by a talking dog. not cat.
@@DZCorporation4LIFE it's actually ruled by a child with a rugby ball head
Nobody knows but kami has a phd in physics from Stanford.
Kami, piccolo, and nao :p they're all one bieng now
And so does Brian from Game Grumps. Oh did I mention he has a PhD in physics?
+Carl Poppa Still, their abilities are below Mr. Popos stool...
Carl Poppa lol
This is literally the only way to get me interested in science and I pay more attention to this than my biology class
It would be nice to see a video where you address how strong the human body could ever possibly be (including cybernetics, but no complete synthetic bodies), addressing methods used by just about every popular superhero who started out as human
Wasn't it stated that they're in a different dimenision
it was
+TH-cam MAN, you forgot to repeat your comment 6 more times. XD
I believe so. And it would make sense that the chamber is actually a portal to that empty realm rather than the scientific explanations here. As for the one year over there at a time, that is open to explanation.

It still applies, just that that world/dimension should travel a billion times slower than Earth.
He kinda looks like Thor
He's happy you noticed!
***** Is it that obvious?
+Kyle Hill kyle plz notice me ;-;
+Jaxlightning Bland This what thor looked like before he trained in the Time Chamber.
+Jaxlightning Bland pewdiepie in a wig
So.... Kyle is future trunks right?
Nailed it.
+Nerdist no no no, nail is inside Piccolo, not Trunks.
+Daniel Mason XD
+Daniel Mason oh that was clever.
+Nerdist That's what he said.
the chamber is in another dimension
Coldwolf thank you. The chamber isn't on earth at all, there is just a door connecting the lookout to the other dimension, where time behaves differently than on earth.
+TH-cam, All I want to do is watch a video, stop making me update. also its 10x the gravity on earth so u can speed up time too
Timothy Jon 10G's wouldn't affect time by that much, Also Time dilation via gravity slows time relative to earth not speeds it up. In other words if you used gravity to warp time instead of something else, you would actually have LESS time to train in there than you would normally.
woah thx for explaining its much clearer now
TH-cam, All I want to do is watch a video, stop making me update.
you are right different dimension different rules
Your editing is SOOO GOOD
um, in buu saga it was ssaid the time chamber was in another dimension, but it's entrance was on earth
Yup which is why when the door was destroyed Gotenks had to create a wormhole back to earth by bombarding reality with his intense power.
1:50 "Do you see what I'm 'saiyan'" 😂
Well on Buu's saga we learn that the Time Chamber sits on a different dimension (by which they mean an alternative universe) so all that's necessary is to think that the place the chamber stand on the other universe is either moving that fast or that massive.
The gravity gun Superman used on Lex Luthor in All Star Superman now makes sense thanks to this video.
That Kyle Hill is all about making sense out of comic books through SCIENCCCCCCCCE!
Wslasher I’m pretty sure Grant Morrison always intended it to be affected by relativity. He is a big fan of science after all so it’s not that the video fixed it but more like it just explained it outright.
Ah The Hyperbolic Time Chamber, my number one device I'd wish for if i could.
At 0:26. I think you mean that inside the time capsule time passes 365 times faster. Not slower.
hopefully you learned by now
isnt time for those inside faster rather than slower? if so, then you took the inside time as the observer reference, so as a time dilation is occuring outside the time chamber. this is the best show on Nerdist!
INVISIGOTH Thank you!
I love this
Time chamber Is actually in a separate spacetime dimemsion
It's already explained in the show that the hyperbolic time chamber is actually a doorway into another dimension, in the buu saga piccolo lured buu into the time chamber to fight gotenks when he taught gotenks was going to lose piccolo destroyed the doorway trapping the 3 of them. after many videos later, i am still amazed of your writing
You do know the Hyperbolic Time chamber is another Dimension Right?
dimensions dont change time.
+Bandit Leader dimensions can be outside of time (the flashes speed force for example) universes flow at the same time I believe
+Bandit Leader it what Kyle says but backwards. In the chamber they have to be moving faster or weigh less in that dimension.
akira toriyama, not just a great manga artist, but also a scientist!
I think there is an error, time should be quicker inside the chamber and not slower than outside, because the point is that you're a full year inside but outside only one day had passed, not the other way arround. if the time inside the chamber were the slower one, then it will be the oposite, one day inside would be a year outside.
piluex2 no it's slower. Time is 365x slower on the inside. a whole year of training on the inside in 1 day on the outside
Your right man....
Yep 365x time passes.
you're*
365 days per day is more days per day than one day per day... Time is faster in the time chamber than outside.
the last scene be like a fusion of thor and goku
hmm why didnt they use the time chamber more its beyond op now that i think about it goku goes in there for like 5 days comes out a ssjg6
can't be in there for more than 3 days.
Ok, he leaves after 3 days and go back again.
+Rodolfo Antonici originally you couldn't go back after 3 days but dende changed it in the buu arc.
Nah, the point would be: stay three days, leave for some minutes and go back.
Noah Bible and after all, Gotenks is able to create his own way out
As many others have already stated.
There IS intense gravity in the Chamber, it's remarked upon by multiple characters when they visit it.
actually in the japanese dub goku says it is the earth in another dimension.
Yes, hence my statement, "literally another dimension."
hinney827 yh, I was backing you up man.
Starting with "actually" makes it seem like you're trying to correct someone :)
hinney827 my bad bro, didn't mean for it to sound that way but it's text, so that's understandable.
The Time Chamber is in immense gravity, it's evident in the show,
Trunks was used to training in the Gravity Chamber with Vegeta yet when he was in the time chamber he had a hard time walking at first.
Goku even said it the gravity is 10x higher
That won't do much, time wise.
that would have the opposite affect actually, time would pass slower in the hyperbolic time chamber compared to Earth.
+Andy Foster time does pass slower in the hyperbolic time chamber
Qwert Yuiop
You think?
Time would move faster than on earth.
The Time Chamber is a pocket dimension of some kind, so the physics don't really apply here. But the video was very well created if you wanted to find logic to the Time Chamber outside of dimensions.
It's not on earth,
all he told within this vid is irrelevant.,.
@0:27-It's actually 365 times faster, not "365 times more slowly".
Also noteworthy:
Even within the hyperbolic time chamber, there is further relativity which compounds the 365.25 times accelerated flow of time, as the further you get from the access point, the higher the gravity, greater the humidity thinner the air...

For future topics, could you explain Wolverine's adamantium skeleton, his bone claws, and how it all fits together without him being too heavy to walk, let alone fight?
isn't the time faster for goku and gohan
I mean time is moving faster for goku and gohan
time is much much slower in there. 1 year inside the time chamber is 1 day in the real world.
***** 😂😂😂which means that time moves faster in the time chamber
No it moves 365x slower there so one second out here is like a week in there (just a guess about the days, i don't know how long a second is to them).
Thomas Cormier u fucking dumb ass,do u know how many seconds makes up a week
I will go with the gravity theory. If I recall correctly, when Goku and Gohan enters the chamber, Goku warns his son not to wander too far from the center building; (As a shot from above, it shows the building as the center of the endless white field); the reason why he says this, as he tells Gohan, is that the father you go from the building, the stronger gravity becomes. Like, walk ten feet away from the central building and gravity becomes x5 more of normal earth, and the more you walk farther the stronger it gets the increasing gravity. This may effect the time delay thingy with gravity theory.

Or you know... the time chamber is in another dimension and not above the Earth...........
The Flamebolt NOT COMPLICATED ENOUGH
+The Flamebolt yup
I think it has to do something with being in that dimension,
but what might it be.,.
and yes, gravity makes time go faster,
that's why clocks in space need to be adjusted so often.,.
"But hey we are talking about a show with multiple resurrections and magic balls and talking dragons"
Kyle is more amazed by the fact that a dragon can speak than by the fact of the existence of dragons, that's how awesome he is xD

I just noticed that you be writing backwards, and I saw you write with both hands backwards at the same time! That's a talent all on its own!
That ending. The cringe is real
😂😂😂
just skipped forward saw a single image.......gonna leave now
I'm gonna say it's the ladder but more emphasis on pressure then acceleration, there was an episode where goku explained to gohan why they weren't training in the HTC saying it's too much of a strain on the body. Plus there is also the time both buu and gotenks ripped through the fabric of time and space by yelling, with the logic explained, sounds like maybe a cosmic echo was made allowing both parties to escape the htc
I always think it was a different dimension with different time... the chamber is not in the same dimension of earth his gravity is more than earth but is not that the point... being in a different dimension will mean there are other laws of physics
you're right. it's not on earth, only the door was. and yes, you're kinda right about the laws as well, unless its like a parallel universe of sorts
Talk about the energy output of all these characters and ki to what science can explain! Please! I enjoy these btw
Dear kyle, can you make a video explaining which training is better for strength your muscular system or the neurological system?
I think we all would like a hyperbolic time chamber every now and then.
Arc520 Sooo much training, glorious training...
Prana Khan You will also age much quicker then the people outside. Soo it may not be as good as you think...unless you willing to sacrifice some of your life.
akimboDEEZ Dragon balls mate, dragon balls.
akimboDEEZ I thought you would age slower, thats what i get for being a dense martial artist haha. Guess the old masters were right, you can't cheat your way to the top. Even fantastically.
Arc520 It would come in handy.
I hope my explanation doesn't come off condescending( I'm just a big DBZ fan and I felt like I knew enough to say something)
Keep up the good work and just know nerdist has fans in the Bahamas. ... Thanks for reading.
This is like game theory and film theory. I love it.
1:14 Yeah, got it👍👍
Actually, you can skew time with just velocity (mass and velocity are energy calculations and the total energy equates to gravitation).
Idk, I'm going to bed. xD
Oh the wink is back!
I would personally use the chamber to learn all of Earth's languages and dialects and then travel the world :)
never noticed this before but you are really good at writhing backwards!
since the hyperbolic timechamber is on a different plane of existance (not using "dimension", as that means something else in physics) - the door could simply be a portal to a location that moves slower then earth (as the faster you go, the slower time goes)
the increased gravity theory would make more sense in the show because Goku did say that in the time chamber the gravity is heavier. plus Gohan did say that the air was very heavy and if the air in the time chamber came from the outside the only way the air density would increase would be if the gravity had increased in the chamber.
can you do something about the whole mirror discontinuation thing you have going on between cutscenes
Best Dragon Ball pun I've heard "You know what I'm Sayan?" Lol
Time travel forward in time *is* possible and anyone can do it.
Step 1. Look at your watch and record the time.
Step 2. Wait 10 minutes.
Step 3. Look at your watch and record the time.
Bam! You just travelled 10 minutes into the future at 1x faster than the speed of time!!
In the Time Chamber they also state the further you go out the higher the gravity is. so ultimately that place has massive gravity like a blackhole.
Superman with different types of Suns would be a good ep. :)
Plus, it's explained in the series that the chamber is in another dimension, so that could mean there's other rules for that particular dimension, which would allow it to exist and have the time be warped the way it is.
he time chamber exists in a pocket dimension, only the doorway exists on the lookout
@Nerdist now pls tell me how 20+ episodes are 5minutes according to Frieza and you are gonna be my hero
+Nerdist
I agree with everything except for your final conclusion, it could be gravitational as both Goku and Vegeta have trained in different gravaties (Planet Vegeta is 10x that of earth, as well as king kai's plabet and also goku trained in 100x earths gravity)
I'd say it's the second one as in the time chamber goku mentions don't go too far from the gate as u can get lost due to its seemingly infinite space
So does this mean that time inside (or near if you want to include that) of a black hole is extremely slow?
Imagine Kyle with super saiyan hair. I bet that hair would be more glorious than sephiroth's
time dilation formula.. how did you get Velocity to equal the spin of the earth below the chamber? what would the V equal if not that? is the velocity just speed of a given surrounding area? or just plug and play??
Hi Kyle - Do you write all the on screen stuff backwards ? Im sure its been asked an answered before but i just got here . Thanks for the cool content
Kyle's hair is majestic af.
The Time chamber is in another dimension. And couldn't it also be sending you back in time exactly one year.
Heres one for you: What happens during a supersaiyan transformation that makes the body stronger?
"we are ignoring a few things here" said while wearing super saiyan hair xD
We also have to remember twin Paradox so it's most likely gravitational time dialation(likely powered by a magical black whole) but then what's stopping them from being subjected to space time tearing gravity?
