    Uhm... your video didn't quite answer the IMPORTANT questions, which would be: Can a human being adapt to higher levels of gravity, if he trains and ups the gravity level very slowly? Like, 1.001g/day? Or maybe even slower, if necessary? If so, what would be the highest possible gravity level a human being who undergoes this slow procedure could live at? And how much gravity could this peak-gravity-trained human being tank in short bursts? And how much stronger could he get? These are the REAL questions about this topic.

    • @GweiTheLeafChild
      @GweiTheLeafChild 7 ปีที่แล้ว +99

      Not entirely, at one point, physics would overcome your body being able to compensate for the effects on your body. Ultimately, it would shorten your life considerably, since functionally, increased prolonged G's would, say, make your vascular system work harder and harder. Your heart would have to pump more to move your blood against gravity, in effect, similar to heart disease. Humans could conceivably live under 4 to 7 G's for a prolonged period of time, but would experience noticeably more health complications in the long run, before they could adapt to it. We are so adapted to Earth's gravity, that our bodies are grown to function under such standards of specific gravities in such tissues and fluids, that any more than that would start doing seriously weird things to the systems in the body. Bone cells for instance are evolved to function under 1G, they have built in biological timers, and some sense of directionality to make sure that they die off if they can't attach to something in time. If they were under high gravity, you start to see very odd development of bones, since the gravity pulls on them during development, this could hypothetically mean the density of your skeleton is either less towards your feet, and more towards your head, or in distal directions towards the gravity, grow more fatter and less uniform. If we keep going higher in gravity, at some point, there's no way for any of the fluid to travel in your body, but even at G's where they could still move, if they get too significantly slowed, like your blood, your cells would probably start dying all over because your blood isn't moving fast enough to exchange oxygen, CO2, nutrients, and waste. Interestingly, gravity would also affect conception as well, it would be harder to be impregnated, and if someone does conceive, the fetus would show many odd abnormalities, due to the delicate system of development that is.

    • @ironoverheat465
      @ironoverheat465 7 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      GweiTheLeafChild Huh, okay, thanks for such a detailed answer. And just to make sure, these limitations would still exist no matter how slow the increase in gravity is? So even if a genetically athletic human, at peak condition, trained while increasing gravity in the slowest speed possible, he still wouldn't take it? And what if it was so slow that tons of generations live and die in this increased gravity, and the human body evolves into an adapted form for this gravity? Of course, this would be less than practical, as life spans would be shorter and life would be constant pain, but is it possible for the human being to evolve and adapt to (slightly) higher gravity over tons of generations?

    • @GweiTheLeafChild
      @GweiTheLeafChild 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      Iron Overheat
      They would take it, but it functionally wouldn't offer that much benefits than weight wearing training, and has nearly the same amount of draw backs. Training is actually more effective if you do it regularly, but in short intervals with needful rest in between. Living under super-G would be as harmful as training past your physiological limits without rest, if you plan to do a lot of moving. Plus under regular G, your body works better since it can oxygenate better. As for living under super-G, humans could conceivably adapt under it after several thousands of generations. Though, changes within a few generations could possibly be perceived. Enough constant stresses could change the behavior of some preexisting genes, or systems such as how much of a specific protein should be produced to attain a functioning level for that system to counteract the stresses of an environment.

      The short answer is no, handling gravity is a evolutionary trait because the part of your body that is hurting the most is your circulatory system. You cannot rush evolution.

      Well this could very similar to altitude training, which most people in the running world now say to live high, train low, essentially you live and spend most of time at high altitude to gain the benefits of increased endurance and red blood cell count, but then train low so you don't get the negatives of low oxygen when your actually running and doing sessions. Probably could do a similar thing with gravity training.

    Sayains have a natural aptitude for controlling, amplifying, and being aware of their own chi. In the series the characters project their chi out of their body and into things like plasma balls they can blast, they push and move around plasma as well. It would make sense that training in more Gs would be much more than a physical test; it's a test to see if you can keep your blood flowing, organs functioning, etc. by using and focusing your chi while training.

    Thoughts on the Nimbus Cloud:
    What if... Magic? No, that's stupid. We need a science answer.
    What if... the Nimbus is not made of water? I mean clouds in DBZ are white for the most part, except Nimbus which is yellow for some reason. So it must be made of a different material that's been vaporized. Maybe Neodymium and Goku's weighted boots (weighted with a magnet that repulses) floats up on the cloud making it look like he's all pure of heart and stuff when he's just floating on a magnetic wave.
    But this leads to a new problem. How is the cloud then held together at different altitudes or at all? How does it propelled itself? What if.... Magic?

  • @Silmerano

    People don't actually understand why the gravity chamber is effective for Goku, and Vegeta in the beginning. It's not because it's great training and making them stronger from the training. Saiyans have a trait where if they almost die they get a boost in power upon recovery. Commonly known as a zenkai boost. Goku and Vegeta get stronger because training in high gravity almost kills them.

    • @UR2SLOW
      @UR2SLOW 8 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      By the laws of biology, we must adapt to any environment, whether it's change in gravity or other means. However, like everything else in life, it takes *time.*
      Pilots have been flying a lot and have managed to adapt to 9G, while the average human can only handle up to 5G. Through training and prolonged exposer, you are bound to adapt and be able to handle higher Gs, however how long it takes you to adapt to higher Gs solely depends on your body's anatomy. To get to double digit Gs could take centuries if your body isn't good at healing, and if your lucky and have a fast metabolism, it still could take decades before your body can handle double digit Gs.
      But since we don't plan on moving to any other planet within our lifetime, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just learn to deal with 1G for now :P

    • @UR2SLOW
      @UR2SLOW 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      and to answer your initial question, there is no "max" your body can reach in stregth. The only "max" you have is your lifespan. You can constantly become stronger if you constantly train, until you drop dead from old age. Louis Cyr has been documented to have been able to life 2 tons.

      Selvokaz But they were dead....exactly how does gravity effect the dead? Goku had put a ton during the movie training for grand Kai tournament, they don't have physical limitation...but how does putting weight do anything if it doesn't effect the limit...

    • @Selvokaz
      @Selvokaz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      if they can physically train then physics should still apply to them or there would be no point in training, they didn't turn into souls so they had some form of corporeal body/form. In the world of DBZ if you die and are intended to go to Heaven or Hell you turn into a white small ember or flame, you have nothing resembling a body, powerful heroes and villains are usually permitted to keep their forms for one reason or another, in the case of the dead Z Fighters, its likely they chose the option to train with King Kai and thus got to keep their forms, whereas someone like Chichi and Bulma would turn into the white flame things until they reached heaven in which case they turn into a half corporeal / spirit looking form as seen in the Buu saga.

    The purpose of gravity training is not to simply train the muscles, it is to train the ability to use ki to manipulate the body and protect it from certain harsh environments. within the body of Goku, he is using ki as a sort of pace maker to regulate the body's blood and all of the bodily processes. Which is why when Goku is powered down, he can be killed like anyone else. Ki is used to negate the effects of high gravity. But yeah, any normal human should be dead for sure.

      There is unfortunately a limit to what humans can withstand when your talking about long term exposure due to simple biology. Sure 2Gs isn't a big deal for anyone if your only feeling it for a few minutes at a time, but if you plan on actually working out at 2Gs you have to consider the fact that you heart has to work literally twice as hard over the course of the workout session in order to sustain your body. Idk at what point your body will just give out but as you can imagine pushing your heart twice as hard during already strenuous conditions and doing this on a daily basis will very quickly deteriorate your health. Unlike your muscles working out your heart and blood vessels doesn't work out very well

      True that you can train for more. But fighter pilots are expected to move out really quickly for possible combat.
      So they don't have that luxury, and they also cannot typically handle it unprotected. Their clothes are basically body armor to protect against increased G's.

    Could the reason why the Hulk gets stronger the angrier he gets is because his blood, which is infused with gamma radiation, is pumped quicker so the kinetic energy results in more strength or his energy is converted into mass?
    If the above theory is true could this result in the idea that if the Hulk gets angry enough he could be creating so much energy that he could travel at speeds near that of electromagnetic radiation ( 299,792,458 m/s ) ?

    • @DrSmokeTrees
      @DrSmokeTrees 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You can't explain how Hulk works, because no one knows how Hulk works. Not even in the Marvel Universe, in most Canons, no one understands why Banner didn't just die, or how the Hulk works. No one ever replicates that experiment, except in rare one-shot stories maybe.

    • @chubby_deity3143
      @chubby_deity3143 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually, the Hulk gets stronger the longer he stays angry, since anger is a state of mind, not really something you can measure, but the time in which he is angry, measurable, it could be some sort of buildup of energy, so i do not see a problem with the second part of your comment, except maybe that the Hulk will probably destroy everything before that even happens, :)

    • @Blaisem
      @Blaisem 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No because for one thing, your heart beat has a rhythm. No matter how hard it compressed, it would still have a particular pace it pushes blood at. This means the Hulk's strength would follow the same rhythm. He wouldn't for example be able to grapple with someone because his strength would be leaving him in between every heartbeat.
      More fundamentally than that, the arteries aren't aligned with the trajectory of, say a punch. For example, you would need the arteries to end in your fist knuckles (with compressible space between the artery and skin) so that it adds to the blow of, say, a punch. Normally though arteries are a circuit and so their force isn't pushing against your skin but flowing back to the heart in a loop, so the force isn't being applied in the trajectory you want.
      Also it wouldn't speed up the Hulk's motions, it would literally be a slow, human-speed punch that would hit with normal human force, and then when the blood pumps through, it would force the object back. You would literally be punching with your heart pulse.

    • @animehbkscm
      @animehbkscm 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Even so, trained people only withstand 5-9Gs for very short periods of time and that is dangerous. The human body hasn't evolved to withstand that kind of force, even incresing it little by little over a long period of time.

    • @clericofchaos1
      @clericofchaos1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      animehbkscm actually the human body has proven incredibly adaptable and you obviously would not start as high as 5Gs. You would start with something as low as 1.5 or even 1.2Gs. Your body will adapt to the new increase in weight as if you were wearing weighted training clothes. in about a year or so, you would emerge and be 1.2 times stronger, faster, and more durable than all of earth's athletes. ofcourse once you have fully adapted to 1.2 you could increase it to 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, and so on. each increase would take less and less time to get used to. the real problems emerge when you leave and return to normal earth gravity. if you were to somehow work your way up to 5 times normal earth gravity, then upon return to normal gravity you would move so fast and with so much strength that even the slightest of movements could have enough force to rip your limbs out of their sockets. in short, while this would be an excellent training method the higher you increase the G load the less likely you are to be able to return to a normal life.

    • @ZmbieTaco
      @ZmbieTaco 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically speaking, your heart would get stronger as well since it would have to pump harder to fight the new forces. Although you are correct that 5-9 would be very dangerous for most, if someone were to, theoretically, train most of there life in increased gravity (say starting at 15 or 16) then they should be able to withstand 5-7 easily.

    • @clericofchaos1
      @clericofchaos1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

We are bound to our biological limitations and to the physical limitations of our universe. You would have to have your children, and your children's children, and your children's children's children, and on and on and on, keep doing that as well, all without leaving this gravity chamber, because it would take generations for our biology to adapt to the steadily increasing gravity.
      And then, when your hyper-gravity descendants finally return to Earth and emerge from their gravity chamber, they would die because their body wouldn't be used to such low gravity. Like bringing a deep-sea fish to the surface.

    • @codyj6505
      @codyj6505 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Yeah, it isn't just the weight of things alone. Eventually you'll hit a point where no matter how physically strong you are, your body just won't be able to send blood fast enough due to the strain. You'd also likely develop some sort of spinal issues from your spine carrying weight it wasn't realistically meant to carry. I'd imagine you could become physically stronger by training in 2-5x gravity, but there would probably be some adverse, long time side effects of the training.
      I think gravity training only makes sense in the DBZ world because they can utilize 'ki energy.' I've always reasoned since I was younger that the gravity training must strengthen their ki energy by using it to help support their bodily functions or something.

      +barshems demgud I wasn't complaining about the precision that was used to treat the topic, I was just pointing that 9.81 isn't the real answer as the viewer commented, because we are usually told things that are not necessarily true and assume they are, for every situation, although things can get really complex if we look closer, so 9.81 could be even worse than saying 9.8 in some especific situations.
      everything I said could just be changed to: DO NOT READ JUST THE ANSWERS, ASK WHY, do not just believe in others, use critiscism, do your own experiments, or be aware of the fact that you don't really know that subject, you just have recorded a set of information that was given to you because they thought you could not handle the truth or wasn't worth the effort. ;)
      Nothing about precision, I don't really care about it when we are not "designing" something that should really work.

    There is, however a way to build a training chamber that would do what the chamber in DBZ does without using gravity. Using a chainmail diving suit like divers use when they swim with sharks, and have a gigantic electro-magnet embedded underneath the chamber. The chainmail suit itself would weigh between 50 and 75 lbs and then with the added pull of the magnetic forces it would function just like extra heavy gravity, could be increased incramnetaly and held at any level desired until the training became easy and then increased to the next level. By wearing the chainmail all the time, including sleep and only removing it and dropping the magnetic level to normal long enough to bathe it could do just what the training chamber in DBZ does without all of the nasty side effects of increased gravity.

  • @matthewstrouhal2969

    What if, instead of gravity training, you just workout deep underwater? Get a nice pressurized helmet and an air tank and dive deep enough to where it takes just as much difficulty to move in any direction. It may not be the same as gravity training, but it could produce the same (if not better) results by comparison.

    could you replicate this with weight vests and weighted ankle and wrist straps?

    • @MercenaryTau
      @MercenaryTau 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically, however, the sum of the added weight would be harmful on your joints if you're not careful. I forgot the technical term and lost my original source, but if you have too much on your ankles, weight distribution turns your lower leg into a sledgehammer of sorts and it can wreck your knee as it's trying to hold everything together. It's not even that much, if I remember correctly, but without the source, take it with a grain of salt.
      For reference, I train with a weighted vest/shorts but it's not exceptionally heavy, ~20lbs (or the weight added by 0.11g). I've been looking at shin/forearm weights but even these aren't heavy either, a few pounds total, iirc. The reason for the low weight is that it's constant for 90min, not in short bursts where your joints have a chance to rest.
      Ironically, I don't know if I'd recommend it considering the consequences, but do be careful.

      For the record, while your math is solid I think it is more likely the Hyberbolic Time Chamber takes advantage of Gravity Differential between a pocket Universe, and a less dense, but more more Volumed space. This is to say that considering the interior of the HBTC it is quite likely the Native speed of that volume of space is already quite close to the speed of light. Since you are not actually TRAVELING, but the time of the Space within is compressed, you could get the time differential without involving any equations save those to renormalize.
      Just a thought.

    This is actually mentioned when DBZ talks about Saiyan's. Saiyan's have the ability to adapt and evolve to the environment of any planet or place they are. It says.this was because they would send warriors at a young age to invade planets and had to adapt to different planets environment s in order to do so. As a result, it is somewhat plausible for the gravity training to work for Goku and Vegeta and the half Saiyan children due to this, for they can adapt to the extra pressure being exerted on there bodies quicker than regular humans.

And in this case, Cell is an organic cyborg, a mix of pieces that-instead of being mechanical like 17 and 18- are taken from different fighters mixed together in a primordial soup and grown into what we know as "Cell" :3 How this specifically ties into philosophy, I'm not quite sure...
