    There’s a small Palestinian protest happening at my university that started a few days ago. It was all good at first, but by the second day, they had sprayed graffiti all over the place, and even wrote down a literal threat to burn down my city if Gaza burns.
    It’s also two distinct groups. One, the majority, often gather to chat and share drinks, but among them there are people wearing actual masks and face scarves. The university even emailed us warning against violence after they reportedly chased down a guy with an Israeli flag and assaulted him.
    Just today, I walked passed them as they gathered just outside with megaphones and drums, all of them wearing masks and face coverings. Interestingly, there was a soccer game right next door with lots of police around over the weekend, and they were not there, lol

    It should be noted that some of the political-esque college classes give extra credit to attend rallies/protests. I don't agree with it, and I'm not sure exactly how much it's technically allowed, but it 100% happens. I took a gender studies class to genuinely attempt to understand the other side. I got into an argument with the professor about my grades, and she said to me, "I would be more forgiving if you truly cared about this class. But you don't even do any of the extra credit we allow you to take part in." - The extra credit assignment was to attend a pro-choice rally on campus. I am pro-life.

    12:55 Statements against civil right do not break Destiny’s rule:
    I German law-phylosophy there is the „ Radbruchsche Formel“ or Thesis of Radbruch which states that law originates from justice with equality being the core of justice. Any law that violates said elementary justice cannot in fact be law or right.
    This stems from prior law Philosophy that postulated law is always just because it is law and therefore right( in the German language “law” and “just” stem from the same word that also means “right” ). Shocked from the Nazi regime and cooperation of the judiciary that allowed the Nazis to legally do what they did, Radbruch developed his thesis. -> Segregation and legal inequality are not right/just and are therefore never going to be law. -Therefore not breaking Destiny’s rule.

    They knew that goods would be circulated still. The idea of the sanctions isnt to totally cut off russia. It is to reduce economy and certain tech development. Perun does a great breakdown of this. It is all part of the equation; it pushes the argument of harder sanctions more in line with destiny's opinion.

    Your issue with constructing a moral theory that affirms all moral intuitions and remains logically consistent is that morality and moral intuitions are not derived from explicit moral theory. They are learned in an ad hoc manner and they reflect the rules that govern the function of a society, imposed by the state. They are collective values, not objective values. That is why you'll never be able to have a theory that works across all time and all places. Different times and places have different collective values that are opposed and cannot be reconciled. There is a small set of collective values that are shared by all societies, but this is because societies need to solve the same collective problems of cooperation. Thou shalt not murder, thou shalt not steal etc. Are solutions to problems of cooperation that any society must solve in order to function, they are not objective cosmic/logical/divine values.

      Flawed argument. He isnt actually trying to construct a moral theory that spans everything. He set a boundry of rules for it to apply in. It is basic Logic with a capital L. Internal consistency of morality is the most fair and practical; it also happens to reflect the ideal for western morality

    This is kind of a tricky one... It probably seems like D is trying to have different standards for the same thing. The part that would make it make sense is precedent vs super precedent. Something with precedent would be something like "Should abortion be outlawed Federally?"... well... the precedent says that it shouldnt be... but the conversation about whether or not it should be outlawed has never ended so it doesnt have super precedence. Something like "Should we bring race based slavery back?" is something that has super precedence because that conversation is long dead in any mainstream circle. D wants colleges to be neutral on things that only have precedence... but is fine with them taking a positions on topics that have super precedence. This is fine.

This incentivize the government to at least make an exception/attempt for these students/staff if they want the program.

The students were joined by several masked people, dressed in black, who were captured on camera smashing furniture and equipment, and building barricades.
      ....
      The UvA authorities said they were “shocked” at the way the “peaceful protest was taken over by violent elements who misused their own right to demonstration and denied others, including the media, their rights”. "

      @djon3043 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Couldn’t those other car makers just also make EVs to even the playing field? It’s not like the money is set aside for a specific company.

    • @by010
      @by010 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@djon3043 well, there are reasons why not go as hard as China. There is incentivization, and it is the reason elon musk is so rich. He wouldnt achieve so much with tesla without gvmnt involvement. To say china 1-upped though with donations is great understatement. Their goverment pour so much money for EV production incentives that chinese automakers would produce cars, register them and let them rot on fields. Basically: Incentives - production cost > 0.
      I dont see that flying in western world.

    • @by010
      @by010 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@djon3043 Huh my reply got auto-deleted or it dosen't show up for me, so sorry if im saying same thing again.
      So those other carmakers do get incentives, that's for example why Tesla was so successful. But if you compare what China does on the incentiving ground, they go much further with them, to the point that it's literally profitable to produce EV there, and throw it away. You can find videos of fields filled with EVs to rot, registered and all. To make western world EV manufacturing competetive, there would need to be comparable incentives, which I don't think would fly in western world.
      Idea is to flood western markets with dumping priced EVs, causing loses to this industry, preferably destroying it, and than cn would be in control. Add to that amount of electronics in cars, and (I know, that part might be seen tin foil) you have access to cameras everywhere in potentially adversary country. That would be win after win for them if the plan works out.
