I am 50 in 2023 and have loved this song for as long as I can remember but it always makes me cry. So thankful to people that put clips like this on TH-cam. Superb song
I'm 54 i agree with you this is a very special song every time I listen to it I cry like a baby I don't know the story behind the song but I have to believe that it was written From a strong grief
This beautiful song came out when I was thirteen, little knowing that one day I would have a son also named Jimmy. My son passed away 2018 and hearing this song after all those years has really brought tears to my eyes. 😢😢
When I was a little boy my mother used to play this in the house, obviously when I got older I didn't listen to it anymore now I'm 60 years old and I have to say with all the religious music that I've heard in the past this band seems closer to anything to our Lord than anything ever heard except maybe cowboy copies.
My parents used to often play this song on the hifi when I was only 4 or 5 and in the last 15 years I have been searching for it with no luck because I didn’t know who the singers were and I had thought it was called Heaven fell last night! Which is one of the songs but not my favourite. I love this song brings back fond memories of my parents who are no longer around
MY GOD, I used to cry when I was a little boy listening to this wonderful SAD song over RADO CEYLON in 1950's ..and now I am old weary and weak away from the island of Sri Lanka and I still cry listening to this great song. This will happen to me and to all of us. Please GOD Almighty when we die please allow us to be with all our loved ones once again PLEASE! IN PARADISE You promised my JESUS my loving GOD, please! GOOD DAYS ARE GONE///// Hope to see M. Jimmy Brown as well...I wanna cry more...
This song always reminded our mother of our father Jimmy whitsett. Little did we know that in his short life it would indeed fit his life. I listen to this with tears as both our mother and father have passed. He to met my mother in a small valley community and were married in a small country chruch. He became a preacher but at the age of 42 he was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer and died five days later. His funeral was held in a small town chruch not any bigger than a village and many turned out to say their goodbyes. Our Mother passed away a few years back, and it won't be long before I too will go to join them . This song did cause my eyes to fiil with tears but yet at the same time it was heartwarming to listen to it, because it takes me back when both were here and all was happy. We didn't have a lot, never wanted a lot, but our valley called eagle creek was indeed the happiest times of my two sisters and myself lifes , and all the love and kindness shown from the people of eagle creek valley we could always know and feel from the people who lived there the love and caring for each other as well you could feel the goodness in each and everyone of them. It was the best days of our life's and we were very blessed to have them and to look back now sometimes its sad because everything changes but we will always cherish and treasure those memories.
This was my favorite song when I was 8 years old. I just played it after all of these years and found, IT'S STILL MY FAVORITE SONG! The harmony and these sweet unforgettable words are a blessing to all, forever. THANK YOU, THE BROWNS!
My mother in law sang with her brother and sister (the Singing Beavers) on The Big D Jamboree in Dallas. They met the Browns and became good friends with them. Even though there were years where they didn't see each other Judy remained good friends with them. Sadly all 6 of them are gone now. I never got to hear Judy and her siblings sing together but I have loved the Browns ever since I heard this song for the first time as a youngster.
What a blessing. All these songs I remember, the memories from the past. All to well I remember the Ballads, the Music with impact, that formed my youth and formative years. Thank You Country Singers, The Brown Family❤
This song very clearly explains the reality of life in this world. Absolutely brilliant and lovely to listen to repeatedly with no saturation at any point of time.
How beautiful is this. No wonder it was a big hit when I was young. I had tears n my eyes at the last verse. I wonder if it’s a relative they’re singing of
I didn't know the song or the band, I heard it in a collection of songs from the 1950s and I knew I would be particularly drawn to it. An amazing song just can't get out of my head. Thanks to whoever created and whoever posted.
This song came out the year I was born, I have love listening to it from the first time I heard it in the early 60's. I wish there was a heart instead of a like button.
MET JIM ED AT A TRADE SHOW IN SOUTH TEXAS, (HE WAS THE ENTERTAINMENT) AND WE KNEW SOME OF THE SAME PEOPLE, WHICH MADE IT VERY ENJOYABLE. ONE OF THE MOST ABSOLUTE COUNTRY GENTLEMEN YOU WILL EVER FIND! R.I.P. SIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!
This man has the most beautiful voice and he made my night at Grand Ole Opry tonight. His voice is about the same as it was back then. I am 52 and remember this song so very well. Thank you for the performance.
I grew up around the Browns in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and our paths crossed many time during the years. I remember them appearing on a local TV show called the Hay Ride, they were always good to hear. Miss those times
Will everyone quit being so sad? It is a complete joy every time I see the Browns perform. I am glad to God that I live at this time to enjoy all the wonderful music. Just saying it's ok to be happy.
About 10 years ago my folks were fortunate to see Jim Ed Brown and his sisters perform. My parents ran into Jim as everyone was leaving. Mom and Jim began talking and found out that they were from the same area of their youth. Mr. Brown was so kind to my folks and invited them to have supper in a small diner with he and his sisters. My folks and the Browns ended up talking most of the night away. My mom passed away on Aug 11, 2016. She frequently spoke of that evening and this song was played for her funeral. I find myself smiling at the thought of them talking each other’s ears off now.
That’s a wonderful story, thank you so much for sharing it with us. We tend to forget that so many of the country music artists are “ just plain folks, at heart ♥️ “. Thankfully so.😊 It is great for that highlight in your mom’s life. ♥️
Beauty is where you find it. Sometimes it is in a child's laugh, the antics of a silly dog, the magnificence of the Tetons, an incredible painting-and sometimes it is int the beauty of voices, blended smooth like velvet-and those voices are as FINE as they were so many years ago. Hey-Jim Ed looks more like Andy Griffith every day!
O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 Even in 2024, this song takes me back to my childhood. I still love this song, their voices & the good memories I have of the older music. Ain’t nothing like the Real thing! Good Music! Blessings to all! 🥰😀✌️
Still enjoying the Browns after many decades. Bonnie and Jim Ed together again. God bless their souls. Thank you for gracing us with your beautiful harmonies and everlasting music.
Thank you so very much for posting this great group. This is the first time I have seen Jim Ed, Maxine and Bonnie sing together as a group since they broke up many years ago, how refreshing. I am 80 now and I always enjoyed the Brown's on the Grand Old Opry and they still have the great sounds, to bad Jim has gone on to be with all of the great Country singers. I have a wonderful collection of most of our real CM artist from the 40's to 80's when it started to change, to bad.
Aug 29, 2020 ~ There was a small group of us that used to hang out at swimming hole pond called Lake View, Foxboro, "Ma. My class of 1962 was under a 100. I visited it Lake View back in 1991. It was no longer a popular swimming hole. It was just another Mud bottom Mill Pond of yesteryear. This song 3 Bells helps me see the ghosts of my teenage past. Thanks Ms GlenBill1 for the memories
My memories of my childhood flood my mind when I hear the 3 Bell's song, the joys I experienced in my mountains of Pelham Tennessee, I was little Jimmy Brown, as I go into the winter of my life, I've grown wings, preparing to fly away, when God takes me away, The tears flow anticipating, as Elijah must have felt, the new journey ahead of me, amend.
The thing l hate most is time. When we are young we think there is no end of youth. But time is like a tiger stalking pray. We , all of us are the pray of time. Unrelenting, unfeeling, uncaring time, marching us all to the end. I love this song and these beautiful, talented people. I am so sorry that they are all gone. Rest in peace golden voice , song birds, we miss you.
When I was a teen I was a Nanny for 3 little boys. One was named Jimmy Brown. Everytime I hear this song I think of him. Love the song. Loved little Jimmy.
I guess that the Browns were a perfect top pick for siblings harmony .They were the best in their time along in country music. The closest man with the beautiful voice compared to Jim Reeves was Jim Ed Brown the lead singer for the Browns who came out with pop a top again. He went on singing on his own and was a very accomplished singer . Country music isn't the same anymore and the old time country will live on with legends such as the Browns.
I met this gentlemen while he was shopping when I used to work at Home Depot in Nashville. I have always admired him and his talent. God Bless you Jim Ed.
so sad that we can not find this type of music in 2024
I am 50 in 2023 and have loved this song for as long as I can remember but it always makes me cry. So thankful to people that put clips like this on TH-cam. Superb song
Me to

The clancy
I'm 54 i agree with you this is a very special song every time I listen to it I cry like a baby I don't know the story behind the song but I have to believe that it was written From a strong grief
No stupid smoke and mirrors, fireworks, dancers, etc. Just great singers and a beautiful song.
I 74 years old and I love this 🎵 🎶 🎵 🎶 song and so beautiful was sing by the Brown. Today I still love ❤️
HEY SHIRLEY - IF YOU ARE 74, THEN YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT THIS CORRECT TITLE IS: "THE THREE BELLS"
Like a fine wine, his voice got better with age. Compare this performance to one on here from 1965 of the same song and you will likely agree.
This song was a big hit in 1959. Still a great song.
I was a high school senior that year(1959), I loved the song then, I am still around, & I still love it ♥️🙏🏼
I was nine years old. I loved it. Still do.
this what music should be , not the crap they call country music today
3 Bells are now ringing for The Browns RIP

Heard this song for the 1st time in 1959, when I was 11 years old. Beautiful song then, even more beautiful now. A real timeless classic by the Browns
All three are gone now but will live on through their music. Rest in peace, Jim Ed, Bonnie and Maxine. Thanks for all the wonderful songs.
Oh no that’s so sad but what a beautiful song
