    I said it before.. this was only temporary. The Hemi won't stay dead. It's too damn profitable for the company to remain discontinued.

      Yeahhh.....no lmao idk about profitable considering their parents company is literally on fire and is trying to get rid of more car brands.

    • @FecalMattur
      @FecalMattur 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

      @@Sakosaga To be fair, they lost plenty of potential buyers by announcing the end of the Hemi, straying from V8s in general. Consumers don't want EV Dodges. They hardly want the Hurricanes. I've worked for two separate Dodge dealers as a tech, and the sales have plummeted both post-Covid and from the announcement.
      The entire American car market [minus Tesla] has been struggling, between price gouging (which the "Last Call" certainly didn't help in Stellantis' case), green mandate BS, and just the general economy from inflation and covid. But yes, compared to the path they projected over the last few years, V8s would be certainly more profitable.. especially if you-know-who keeps to his word of breaking up a lot of the green policy agreements.

    Sounds like they could do a modern spin on the 318 small block V8

    • @Dogboy1960
      @Dogboy1960 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Not a chance. The new V8, if they do it, will not be 318 simple and very basic power. Far more likely is a boosted very small displacement engine. The next generation of V8 would need to be everything the 318 never was. It'll need to be a lot smaller than a 318 displacement and bigger power than a 426 Hemi. 50-60 years ago the very suggestion of such an engine would have been met with blank stares followed by laughter. Today RAM trucks are being delivered to new buyers with a 3.0 liter inline six (40% smaller displacement than the old school 318) and 540HP (net) is available vs the old school 426 Hemi's 425HP (gross)........ I'd do a percentage difference but this power difference is even bigger in favor of the modern inline 6 than numbers alone suggest. (net) vs (gross) over rates the old engine while under-rating the new engine. Modern MPG requirements and power can't co-exist without "Boost". I think you can count on the idea of a new V8, if it happens, being at least a single Turbo and possibly twin turbo. Today it seems like the most fuel efficient power producer with no real argument to be made against it.

    Great news! I bought my first Mopar vehicle in 1970 during my senior year of high school-a canary yellow Roadrunner with a 383, four-barrel carburetor, and, of course, a Hemi. That car ignited a lifelong passion for Mopar, which continues today with my Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn, 5.8 liter, yes with a Hem.
    When I first heard about Dodge and other automakers planning to go all-electric, I couldn’t believe it. No true muscle car enthusiast wants a muscle car with an electric motor and artificial engine sounds-it’s just not the same. Thankfully, with President Trump’s push to reduce restrictive energy policies and encourage domestic drilling, Dodge, Chrysler, and Stellantis have rethought their approach. It’s great to see them stepping back and continuing to produce some of the most iconic muscle cars ever made.

    bring gen 3 hemis back or make gen 4 hemis and more power
    the cars that WOULD save the company: 2015-2023 chargers/challengers, hugely refreshed and modernized, vipers, magnums, keep the durango, 300, trx, wrangler 392 and even a hellcat wrangler
    idea wise: hellcat powered viper, hellcat redeye 300, hellcat/scat pack/rt magnum, chargers, challengers and durangos stay the same (could make a redeye durango too), and a 2025 trackhawk in the new wk3

Unfortunately it’s not sustainable to keep everything gas powered and even if there was a wag to do it politics is much more in favor of getting rid of them. Tbh I wouldn’t mind driving a slow boring ev minivan as a family car so long as enthusiast cars get to stay fun so if having everything but enthusiast cars go ev is the only way to take pressure off of automakers to go full ev I’m all for it. I said this before to someone and I wlll say it here: I will only ever be caught buying one of the newer Chargers is if I can swap it out with a V8. You can praise the new Hurricane's 500 stock horsepower. But to me, a V6 just doesn't click well with a Charger or Challenger. Now they could decide to bring back the Viper with the new Hurricane in it since it is more of a sports car than a muscle car, but having a V8 option both in production and after market makes it worth more to the consumer to buy one. Wether it be a car guy buying a used one on the lot, or one buying it stock with a V8. Dodge has been known for being an icon of American muscle despite the competition being better than them, and to take that image away is like removing goofy antics in Looney Tunes.
    On the topic of the modern Hemi's, they have been costly to produce as they have been slammed with emissions fees for a good while. If this wasn't an issue then they could redesign the Hemi's to produce more base power, or at the minimum, have a better traction control system or AWD system for all models and trims so they people can use them in areas where snow is a problem (shout out to my Canadian Mopar lovers out there!).
    However they more than likely won't be able to as it would cost them too much to produce and thus make their stock pricing go up than it already is (stock 2023 Charger RTs are like almost 51k), so a brand new V8 that solves the emissions fees problem while maintaining the V8 muscle image.
    In conclusion if the V8 Magnum name makes a return, we will get a V8 option, but at the cost of the iconic Hemi engine. It's a win but at what cost situation.

    I have said all along that most people don't want EVs. Dodge needs to be remerged with Ram and become a full line automaker again. These new V8s also need to be used by Ram. Jeep could also use the V8s but I would understand if they decided to stick with the turbo inline sixes.

    I fucking knew it. There's no way they could let the V8 die. Those inline 6 and EV motors, won't last long, they'll sit on a lot and be sold for pennies compared to the money grab of v8's! To let the competition, (Ford) be the only brand with an actual muscle car out there would be foolish, and could cause Stellantis to dig their own grave. The muscle cars may have changed over the years, but the V8 can't ever die. Now the real question is what is Chevrolet going to bring back for the Camaro?

      @panamaklz 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@berniemelanson102 The hurricane has more MPG than the Hemi, not by much but still. If they can fix the engine problems, it's a more powerful engine than the HEMI. The HEMI is tried and true but old and tbh Dodge/Stellantis would do well to improvise and design a new V8 engine. The currenty COYOTE and LT2 engines from the competitors demolishes the HEMIs nowadays...

    • @joshreynolds729
      @joshreynolds729 25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@panamaklz😅 no they dont you got your fact wrong here. The hemi makes more power than the others always has. More tq to. And when you modify them thats also true. Plus the trans can hold more than fords and chevys. Your mistaking weight for power here were not talking about weight were talking about the engine and thus far the hellcat motor fromb15 eats the cris hanson predator stock and modified. Also the competitors use aluminum blocks that dont hold the power without sleeves. And lastly they dont get destroyed lol what your seeing is scats and rts getting beat up on the coyote is the only na car thats is fully forged. Hellcats you see getting beat because people think a couple bolt ons are enough against more modified and lighter cars then f around and get beat and most of the time its roll racing on the street not the drag strip. Where is fords 1500hp drop in motor or chevy? Wheres their 1000hp drop in chevy sells a big ass 632 na thats about it. Do a little reasearch. And the hurricane does have problems and i believe what their talking about with mpg is that when you devide you want to lead foot it then it will eat more fuel than a na hemi will probably more than the 392 if i had to guess its a turbo car. Also its aluminum blocked. People buy dodge because they are the only ones with a muscle car if we wanted a euro inline we would just get a bmw because they are the leaders at those. 2 valves are still the most used drag racing motor today not 4 valves because of the tq value and the fact you can gain vubic inches when bored and stroked. People buy dodge because they like to drag race. And if the 2 calve hemi was so old then why are they still the most powerful v8 in drag racing history still used today in top fuel. Guess what those dont have lol inlines or 4 valves or direct injecting or turbos.

    • @joshreynolds729
      @joshreynolds729 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Also the camaro was dicontinues because they woyldnt play the hp war. Ford waited until dodge went ev and then came out with the new gen 4 coyote to beat the scats power by adding a hotter tune and dual intakes so they can add carbon traps for emission thats about it then turned around and had motor craft from canada do the gtd, steve saleen do a few, and john whipple got the blower contract ford effectively didnt really do anything other than the 2020 gt500 that took them from 15-20 to make to vompete with the hellcat while didge spits out a 840hp demon in 18 and then a c170 before they exited the game having 1025 hp or 900whp. Checy made the eray a hybrid and the z06 670 hp supercar thats mid engine na and waiting on the new zr1 thats going to be 300 plus k. So yeah dodge still ran the game for motors and still are. If they weighed the same it it wouldnt even be fair at any race. Like it hate it these are facts. Ford cant even build their own ford gt or their mustang gtd or their whipple 850 hp mustang lol. Go ahead and slap a whipple 3.0 on a hellcat and see what happens you will blpw the trans before you get all the power out of the motor 😅. And yes im aware they say pump gas 93 which is a crock it makes mid 700s to the wheels with octane booster. A regular hellcat can do that without a whipple fyi and were not even talking a redeye here were talking the old 2.4l blower 😂. Damb people really dont know crap about these cars do they. The most sought after and the most hated yet nobody know anything about them. let me know when a stock oem block from chevy or ford crest 2500hp ill wait.

    The last 4.7 OHC Magnum was a ginormous turd. If they have any hopes of using it in a truck they should stick with pushrod. While Ford still uses the Coyote in F150 the fact that they finally gave up on OHC engines in the heavier frames tells you all you need to know. Trucks need power in low and mid range RPMs when doing truck things and that means pushrod.

    The V8s were NOT profitable in the cars . That was the problem over the last few years. Dodge simply couldn't keep passing on the cost of failure to meet mandated "fleet wide MPG" to customers. They simply weren't selling and couldn't sell enough Hornets or any other small cars to offset all those RAM trcuks and Muscle Cars. A new smaller more fuel efficient V8 would be very welcomed though. Chrysler is making a big thing of it's new inline super small displacement 6 cylinder. 540HP out of a peanut sized displacement is as they describe it "dense power" twin turbos get the job of so much power out of such a small displacement possible. Makes you wonder what similar tech might get out of a small V8......wonder no more.....look a Chevy's new killer Corvette. 1065HP out of a relatively small displacement V8. This is win/win stuff. The Hemi engines as we have known them over the past 15 years ran clean enough but came up short of MPG requirements to avoid steep fines for not meeting over all "fleet gas milage". This meant dodge was losing big on most of the cars they were selling and it explains why those prices for Challengers and Chargers kept going up so much faster than simple inflation trends alone could explain. The big Hemi designs had to go. Yet the public wants a muscle car to have a V8. It's a big piece of the puzzle when talking about a "muscle car" you really can't separate the two and expect sales. The idea of a "densely" powered small V8 though.......best of both worlds. Small displacement suggest far better over all MPG when driven sanely. Turbo Charging as done on the inline 6 Chrysler already has in production or like Chevy does on their own hottest Corvette suggests crazy big power numbers don't have to be in conflict with MPG goals. All Chrysler really needs is the desire to stay in the business of producing Muscle cars.
