Kristen Applebee's unhinged speeches are one of the best and most underappreciated parts of this show. I wish she did them more. Every time they seem to crescendo perfectly into madness.
I feel like the more appropriate outcome of her speech in this episode would have been "Everyone is feeling better about themselves so they get temporary hitpoints... except you Kristen. Due to your 'inspiring speech' turned 'existential crisis', you actually take 1 damage".
The only thing that is a little off-putting is how she is still a divine caster of the specific god even though she clearly does not follow the god's path. If she would lose the divine class and go through a transformation to a different type of priest it would add so much more to the moral conflict
I love how Brennan isn't just throwing out gibberish about nonsensical religious beliefs, but actually showing how the coach's worldview is flawed whilst still making it clear that he's a comically terrible person. Top tier acting.
I've been to some friend's houses and had wierd relatives trying to "convert" me and I gotta say, Brennan may have exaggerated a bit but a lot of the stuff they say isn't that far off from Daybreak's spiel.

Kristen - “I have like 10 camp shirts” Fig - “how about a leather boostie” Gorgug - “As you can see I have a beautiful hoodie” Fabian - “I’ll give you a 45 dollar gift card and be done with it”
This is like my 4th rewatch and I just noticed that they seek help and advice from only two sources for this entire campaign: 1) literally every one of the main villains, 2) throwaway characters that Brennan has to make up on the spot.
Brennan is so happy to capitalize on a distracted group fixating on a certain aspect of a character, and using that to go off on a wild tangent while Fabian desperately tries to get the group in line, and I love it

Roman Maygard So while I do like um actually I never grew up as a geek/nerd and was instead a rather girly girl into ya books, chick flicks and soft scifi. I don't think I'd read or watch anything with the name star in the title for example and fantasy was really not my jam. I had a mere appreciation for traditional geekdom (my friends were full blown manga reading, wow playing, ccg collecting geeks). Thankfully I have grown into my nerdom with age, but thats means I know like none of the facts or even properties half the time other than at a passing glance. At the end of the day it wouldn't be engaging enough on its own to have me tune in regularly. Unlike when I'm on TH-cam where I mostly scroll and watch things out of habit and boredom. Something about finding out that Zane was in the foster system, treated so poorly that he fought to be emancipated and decided to live on his own, had this little rat that he took care of, and died all in the same few minutes or so hurts. It seemed like he just got involved in whatever this was for safety or companionship and as someone who has had people close to me who were treated poorly by similar systems, it was like a punch to the gut.
Oh yeah that hit hard, seeing them all in that apartment looking at the physical remnants some poor kid’s entire life, trying to piece together what the fuck he’d done to end up dead. The humor in this ep often overshadows the amazing intrigue and deeper moments but I love that part
Fr- Zayn is genuinely a miserable character and I so wish that they had more roleplay with him, he seems so interesting- I am also a fellow rat lover, so I immediately liked Zayn from his first scene

Brennan using Coach Daybreak to simultaneously give the clearest picture and sharpest skewer of fundamentalist evangelicals is giving me so much life.
Kristen Applebee's unhinged speeches are one of the best and most underappreciated parts of this show. I wish she did them more. Every time they seem to crescendo perfectly into madness.
"It's gonna get inspiring soon"
"I USED THE CORN TO MASTURBATE!" ded
I feel like the more appropriate outcome of her speech in this episode would have been "Everyone is feeling better about themselves so they get temporary hitpoints... except you Kristen. Due to your 'inspiring speech' turned 'existential crisis', you actually take 1 damage".
E
I may be reading too much into the Coach’s soliloquies, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he turns out to be an Oathbreaker who’s trying to talk himself out of the final act of betrayal…
I just have to keep pausing the monologue because the evangelical protestant tone is almost too much to handle.
I mean bit late but also he's just copying a lot of Christian.
yo its crazy how much it reminds me of the things other christian people say. So morally fucked sometimes.
