I started watching this after having watched Escape from the Bloodkeep - one of the rare occurences where an ad was actually useful! And I'll tell you, I'm not cancelling my subscription after the free week. MY GOD this is good. I've been roleplaying for years now, but I had no idea a campain could be that intense. The mastering is on point, the players are amazing, these are several hours of my life I would happily spend again doing exactly this: watching A Crown Of Candy. In Sweetness, There Is Strength!
WHY IS THIS SO DAMN ENGAGING? I've never in my life played something even remotely related to D&D, and now, after a measly two hours of listening to Brennan's superb worldbuilding, I want to find a group to play it. Kudos on the good work, you've got me to seriously consider joining the channel.
I have a great hesitation to get another netflix. But, Brennan Lee Mulligan makes it so tempting to get the dropout netflix. As a side: you cannot abbreviate Brennan's name, without some level of misunderstanding.
No words, only Bravo, Brennan. Bravo for making the most ambitious, funny, and dramatic story of sweetness and strength. Props to the cast and crew as always! For Candia!
Just finished watching the full series, and I have to say I’m emotionally drained in a way that should be impossible for a group of people playing D&D. Bravo to everyone who worked on it! You’ve sent me into a depression in the best way possible.
Incredible, Brennan never fails to to deliver unique and interesting settings for these campaigns. Although it does make me wonder, I'd love to see some bts of the character creation side of things. Especially in a story like this one where everyone was already so connected. How much are the players told beforehand? How much influence do they end up having on the lore? How much story is written before and how much is made up after their characters are decided?

Def get Rob vibes from him so good
BOBBY B! Long may he reign.
@@P0rk_Sinigang LET'S GOOOOOOO! BOBBY B *airhorns blast*
dimension 20 is singlehandedly getting me through quarantine
I'm loving the fact that Amethar is coming across as someone bumbling, but well-meaning. He very clearly does NOT value being royalty, but is happy to delegate his job to people who actually know what they're doing, and does his best to avoid making mistakes that he KNOWS that he'll make.
I am SHOOK that Zac isn't playing a himbo, BUT what I WILL say, is that whatever his character is exactly, he is an IMMACULATE Lapin. Give that guy an Oscar! God damn that's some good RP.
Liam: yeah i don’t like love and i’m super open about it and am willing to change 🥰
Riz, who had a entire enemy based on his confusion/fear of being Ace and having all his friends leave him for love related reasons: *am i a joke to you*
So fun fact - this was filmed months before the live season of Fantasy High. It's possible that Liam's self-discovery here may have even inspired Murph somewhat.
the return of the kugrash dance is the most full-circle thing ive ever seen, and im here for it
Zac has ended his himbo era. He is playing.... The *ANTI-HIMBO*
zac being a stuffy councilor is so fucking funny i love the diversion of character esp since he's plays himbo a lot
Uh oh
game of thrones meets candyland????? LETS GOOOOOOOO
You win Brennan, I just got a year of Dropout so I can watch more. First saw you on game changer and was laughing nonstop. I later saw you again as I was getting into DnD and started building a Final Fantasy and a Power Rangers table top game. You're a damn legend and I appreciate you
A Power Rangers TTRPG?! What’s that like!? What do you have for character classes?!
So the king can’t coup? But if a king and queen were in kaboots about a coup, the coup is true? A count can also coup, but is the coup even true?
A queen can coup, but a king and queen's coup wouldn't follow through. A count can coup in cahoots with a queen of course because the truest coups are upheld by two
If this is a reference to a scene in an old movie or something--I'd appreciate someone letting me know. For some reason it makes me think of the Dream Sequence in the Shirley Temple version of The Little Princess.
@@lydiafayre9806 I don’t know if it’s a direct reference, but it is very like many scenes from the Marx Brother’s movies. Highly recommend, especially A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races
“I just remembered, this is a piece if cake with eyes.”
I can not get past “maybe he can show me his pit” this will live in my head forever and I’m pretty sure I’m going to laugh every time I eat an avocado now!
Just discovered this. I love it! I feel like necromancy should be based on Sucralose. Sucralocy the dark art of false sugar that’s close to real sugar but just not quite as good.
With zombies that are sugar free gummy bears and stuff.
the end: Well... that escalated quickly
Genuinely, it escalates SO MUCH MORE.
I was preparing a chronomancy ritual in hopes that this would come faster, finally.
Ah yes, someone finally using the most powerful magic of them all
I started watching this after having watched Escape from the Bloodkeep - one of the rare occurences where an ad was actually useful!
3 episodes in and everyone keeps talking over chancellor Lapin and I can't handle it cause I love his character. Let my boy speak gummy bear
Definately wasn't enough Lapan dialouge in this season...😔
WHY IS THIS SO DAMN ENGAGING? I've never in my life played something even remotely related to D&D, and now, after a measly two hours of listening to Brennan's superb worldbuilding, I want to find a group to play it. Kudos on the good work, you've got me to seriously consider joining the channel.
update?
Of all the D20 series... I want this as an animated series more than any
Jesus Brennan is a VERY GOOD ACTOR
I love how sad Emily looked when the tart guard wailed “IM BAD”
She’s so empathic she felt bad for a fictional idiot tart guard 😂
I love how infectious Brennan's laugh is. He just seems fun.
I have a great hesitation to get another netflix. But, Brennan Lee Mulligan makes it so tempting to get the dropout netflix.
As a side: you cannot abbreviate Brennan's name, without some level of misunderstanding.
It's like A Tribe Called Quest, or A Pimp Named Slickback.
Given that Brennan Lee Mulligan is pro-BLM, it's not a terrible abbreviation :P
@@KarlEller given the shadiness of the organisation in question (as opposed to the cause)…
People call him BLeeM
No words, only Bravo, Brennan. Bravo for making the most ambitious, funny, and dramatic story of sweetness and strength. Props to the cast and crew as always! For Candia!
Brennan would get a lot more patrons if he had a tier where he writes you a love letter, because DAMN, SWOON
It's always so intriguing to see Brennan go "uuhhh" and "ehmm" when describing something, but not screwing up for a second when in character
i can't help but imagine everything Adverture Time style hahaha
Same
Just finished watching the full series, and I have to say I’m emotionally drained in a way that should be impossible for a group of people playing D&D. Bravo to everyone who worked on it! You’ve sent me into a depression in the best way possible.
The editing of 1:55:30 is applause-worthy
35:45 Emily and Siobhan passing notes and having a complete conversation in the background sent me 🤣
This seems like it’s going to be better than every previous campaign. I’m suuuper excited.
I believe most of those questions are answered in their talk back show on Dropout. ‘Adventuring party’
IT'S ON TH-cam OMG I can't afford dropout and the episodes aired so late in my timezone, so this was a blessing
This episode is. I don't know if the rest is yet.
Dropout is like 5 bucks? You can’t afford?
@@CalvinKool-Aid well, you probably also need to have the credit and be able to afford the fees on a credit card or be able to buy the smallest prepaid credit card which s a fair bit. Having very little money makes things harder even when you can technically afford something, I have an agreement with a friend with a credit card where I give them five bucks cash every month i wanna use dropout, and even then some months I just go without it cause I don't have a lot of money and sometimes theres other things I need to prioritize to the point where even 5 is too much. Also they could just be like, a kid/teen without access to a parents cash lmao.
@@CalvinKool-Aid For me, no not really. In addition to all of my bills, I pay for a few different streaming services. All but one of them autodraft every month, and I don't feel comfortable adding in another one. Maybe later in the year, but not right now.
@@CalvinKool-Aid we're not all American. 5 bucks is 500+ in my money. That's like 50+ lays packets. Or a month of public transport.
I told myself that if I got all my work done today, I'd get to watch this while eating an obscene amount of the titular sweets. Guess who's making dentists roll in their graves tonight! 🤙🍬🍭🍫
Did you kill your dentist?
Not likely. Unless they had the Rona.
It's a high battle between Matthew Mercer and brennan mulligan yall are some of the best dungeon masters I have ever heard. Keep up the hard work D20. I love this squad of people some of the best players I've seen. Definitely cant wait to see more. Huza off to high school
1:02:45 Yep! All of them are definitely actors, through-n-through. Masterful wordplay.
This is the campaign that got me into d20 and it’s probably my favourite dnd campaign EVER next to TAZ Balance. Everyone did such a good job with their characters and the world building brennan did was PHENOMENAL. If you can only afford dropout for a little while then this is 100% one of the things you need to watch. I watched it all the way back in September of 2020 and im still thinking about it.
I have never been more excited for a character introduction than for the twins because my sister is a fencer and I'm an aerialist
Rewatching this after finishing the season, watching the episodes twice each on dropout during its run. This has to be my favorite DnD story so far. All the feels knowing what I know now...
There is not a show on any television that makes me laugh as hard as these people
I think it’s because it effectively simulates hanging out with your friends, playing the game. And your friends happen to be practiced comedians.
This is what Disenchantment should of been like. Matt Groening’s gotta take some notes
oh sweet. my depression was almost all consuming but now i have something to hyperfixate on. thanks!
pyococo coco how are you? do you need someone to talk to?
You ok?
From the comments I've read, this season will be the hardest one yet, I think it's ironic how the season with candy and sweets is the "darkest" one.
Hahaha love Brennan setting up the encounter at the end, laughing and licking his lips at 1:56:55 and casually inquiring about how everyone is set up.
How is there such deep lore for candy land.
Is this truly what is going to get me to sign up for drop out after 2 years of resisting?...
... Yes.
Darn you, Dimension 20, for making me care so much about the lives of a bunch of anthropomorphic food😭

*[SPOILERS]*
I mean, Emily’s character did end up as queen...
Finally starting my rewatch while making certain I have a regular therapy schedule throughout, and I felt almost wild hearing two special names just in this episode.
I love the sets for all the battles and scenes, it just makes it so much easier to throw your imagination into the story and see it all.
I am absolutely loving this! I can't believe how invested I am in the fortunes of make believe candy characters! I can totally see them all in my mind's eye in great detail along with Castle Candy itself and the kingdom. Brennan you are amazing and have opened up a whole new world to me, I'd never been into D and D before but Dimension 20 has grabbed me and pulled me in. Keep up the good work and please keep me in mind as the future Mrs Mulligan!
this seems like a fun group, this would be the type of group that would get me into DnD. good episode guys!
The sheer *"Newman!"* energy from Theobald when he utters "Lapin" around 11:20 🤣🤣
I’m gonna get a cavity just listening to this
