Axial comes out swinging under Horizon Hobby ownership!
One of the first releases is this Axial Racing Wraith 1.9, the AX190074. Taking cues from popular mods that people have been doing to their 2.2 Wraith vehicles over the years, this narrower version is more trail friendly than it's burlier predecessor. Fitted with the well known AR44 single piece axles that you will also recognize from the SCX102 Honcho, the KMC wheels and Nitto tires create a more realistic profile which will get through the gates a lot easier.
There are a ton of new features in this platform, an all new lower tube chassis for example with a separable skid plate, an all metal geared AX10 transmission, front mounted battery, chassis mounted steering servo, four link rear and three link front layout with a replaceable front panhard mount are just a few of the key features.
The Axial AX190074 Wraith 1.9 comes completely ready to run, with a brand new, novice friendly Spektrum STX2 radio system, a Spektrum receiver cleverly tucked away in a waterproof receiver box which is a replica of an LS V8 engine and a Dynamite AE5L ESC with two white LED's ready installed to light up the trails on your evening and night runs.

Maybe off-topic, but the shit that makes me laugh is seeing grown men with scale rigs with ken dolls in the driver seat 😂😂😂. Worse is when Barbie sits next to ken, like how do you justify that? “Oh it’s for my daughter”, meanwhile at the crawler events I see these guys dressed up like Paul Bunyan like they are going to chop down 10 trees after they are done crawling, yet they have action figures in their RCs.... weird. Sorry to offend anyone but I think it’s absolutely ridiculous

You're going to love the Wraith, to me it's closer to a scale truck than any of the other ones out there, I've got one of the original kits although quite heavily modded and I love it :)

I like this more than the earlier ones flip up hood engine detail and just the matte finish to the cab and it looks good.

Excellent show I loved the wraith and of course did a custom 1.9 with it but could never be perfect like this little beauty. Totally appreciate your angle of attack on laying out the details!

Wraith is a great competition rig .... In class 3. This is just another option in class 2 and 2.5. looks pretty cool though, can't wait for mine to get here. I just hope they keep the real wraith around, best class 3 platform to me.
Wraith referring to the shape of the cage, is still justified here. It definitely is a cool rig to run, less top heavy than I anticipated. Of course more sideroll prone than anything on AR60's, but also easier to sneak through certain narrow sections. Have fun with yours!
@@hemistormrc I'm just kind of sad they went all this way to make a 1.9 tired class 2 or 2.5 rig but it still doesn't qualify because of the tube frame/cage. Oh well, I still plan on having a ton of trail fun when mine gets here this coming week.

I love taking my 2.2 wraith out on the trails and it performs just as good if not better than my 1.9 rigs.
How does it go through narrow gates though? I think it is great to have options!

Looks really good, only complaint is that Spektrum remote, I have one n its all plastic, feels cheap n they could at least put rubber or foam on the wheel, but everything looks great just hate the transmitter lol
I really like the Tactic radio's Axial n Arrma both came with, but it looks like those r gonna be replaced with these spektrums

I've also heard these have bad range which is sad because the tactic has the best range on any transmitter I've tried so far.
Nicely done, it certainly looks different to last gen, which I'm still in love with. The orange looks awesome, but I think it'll be the matt black for me. Handy tip to make the interior less glossy, cheers geezer 👍

Thanks for video. I have some extra scx 10ii axles, Jeep body that is almost exactly the same size as the Deadbolt body,some 1.9 tires and a spectrum radio. I need to bring our Wriaths back to life. Your wright it will be more fun to drive with the scale truck's. I really like everything they did👍👍🏁🏁🏁

I just got a wraith 1.9 for 300$ from my local hobby shop. I was going to get the capra but then I need to buy batteries for it since none of my batteries fit in the tiny bs battery tray. My LCS has literally everything but they had the wraith with an open box and offered 300 for it and I couldn't pass it up. I only have an aluminum servo horn and a light bar on mine otherwise its stock and it was out climbing my trx4 bronco which has around 600$ in upgrades including a brushless hobbywing system and my new wraith on 2s was crawling all over my trx4 on 3s. I am actually pretty impressed with this rig, I wasn't expecting anything good but I am pleasantly surprised for sure.

Main thing I like, even if they copied it, is the paint on the outside to get the scratched paint effect. Other than that I might be one of the few people that aren't really interested in this rig
It definitely is a cool feature. Long before Arrma did it it has been a popular technique with those interested in more realistic lexan bodies to create a dulled down effect and realistic scratches.

Lol, I think it's crazy that they found a way to call scratched off paint a feature!! Back in the old days, we hated to scratch a body up.

Yeha, I like painting too. Body that's on my crawler I painted over ten years ago, but I also race Kyosho mini-z's and have painted a few of those, both abs and lexan. I've never painted a lexan Body on the outside, but I guess I might soon, lol

Wow. I have an original Wraith and this one i might need to pick up too! Great upgrades and I really like the look. They have refined the body a bit too, not only the molded piece in the front but the back is a little bit modified. Do you think the body would fit on a SCX10-2 ? Great review!
I think something a lot of people will try to do is fit the actual frame rails of the SCX102 under this cage, shorter shocks, perhaps even smaller tires. So many possibilities! The lexan looks far more detailed than it did in the past and the injection molded plastics are a great fit.

Hi Jason, paint the inside and watch a few basic paint videos. It should give you a fairly good idea of the steps involved.

It’s nice to see something kinda new from axial. This will have to find a place on my shelf. I wanted to build an og version which seems a bit complicated. Not really something to complain about but I wish horizon wouldn’t blast their huge logo on the main picture. I like to cut the front panel picture off and hang in the shop. The huge logo kinda takes away from it. Again not really an issue. Great review as always and great to see health is much better.
I think Horizon is taking a lot of steps in the right direction to continue the brand feel which we have all grown familiar with at Axial. I'm very positively surprised by this release!

Great review as allways mate (y) I do like this version, was not that keen on the orginal Wraith which I had at one point. I found it boring with 2.2 as it would crawl everywhere. Also like the new radio :-)

Totally agree. I love my 2.2 Wraith, invested way too much to sell it. It's mainly a trophy. The Bomber does it ALL better.

I wasn't a big fan of the original Wraith! Mainly because of its top heavy cage and that limousine wheel base. Well those axles was super wide also! So I suppose as a rock bouncer, it's all good and great fun. From what I have seen, everyone was trying to rock crawl them. And it wasn't very pretty!! My 2.2" training wheel Honcho was way more of a rock crawler, than the Wraith was. Or at least all the ones that I crawled with! I am not really sure why, but there's something about this little skinny narrow top heavy version, that's calling to me!! I.D.K.!!! The one part of this new version I am not sure about, are the newer AR44 one piece axles. I suppose I should not pass any judgment on these axles, because I have not yet had a chance to run them. So I will have to buy a new rig with them, and go from there...
The downfall of that "spektrum receiver" is that the receiver will NOT bind to a higher end remote. Unlike before anything that was spektrum, would bind to a higher end spektrum remote. Great truck though I love it.

Would like to see some super rock Rey videos. Just got mine last week 3 short runs later and broken servo saver, right front upper suspension arm adjustable rod broken, front right spindle and spindle carrier as well all from a cartwheel crash from hard braking at full speed in grass.
Damn Eric, that is quite the list! Temperatures are just starting to climb here, running videos as soon as the plastics won't snap incoming!
My only complaint is I wish axial would would have the the motor and transmission laid out more like rc4wd. I hate everything being in the center of the chassis.
I do like the fact there isn't a separated transfer case in this instance. There simply isn't a lot of room up front to tuck the tires if any of the other electronics would be moved there. A shallower interior and the battery plus radio up front is the perfect solution given the short footprint.

Ik zou ‘m gelijk zwart spuiten aan de binnenkant zodat (zon)licht niet meer door de body kan schijnen. Dat is een persoonlijk ding natuurlijk maar ik denk niet dat ik de enige ben. Hoe denk jij daar eigenlijk over? Het is volgens mij bijna standaard bij rc auto’s dat het niet mooi lichtdicht is afgewerkt.

Heb je helemaal gelijk in, vaak is de coating veel te dun en kijk je er recht doorheen. In dit geval echter, is het vrij goed gedaan en dik aangebracht. Oranje op de buitenzijde, en zilver aan de binnenkant. Ik ben blij dat je de video's leuk vindt, groeten!

Yeah I have had them on 3 different rigs and none leak. Be careful checking for burrs or damage to the parts and grease the o-rings with some good grease.

There is a lot of strong competition out, but I do applaud this release. while the Can Am is perhaps more of an accessory and also priced accordingly, this 1.9 Wraith is a good addition to the line up. I hope you are well!
I am in the hobby for almost 4 years now and i started out with a scx10. I really thought it was a great truck.....untill the trx4 came out. The difference was so big that it is almost impossible to compare them. They are in two totally different league’s. I have also driven a scx10-2 long enough to come to the conclusion that it is not better than the first one, let alone the trx-4. So, my scx10 has found a place where it truly belongs....in the hands of my five year old daughter. To be fair, the Bomber is a great car! I have the Wraith kit still waiting to be build so i cannot say anything about that one. Also no new gen8 in my garage yet.
@@Mrrootsfull The gen8 isn't as great as everyone says it is and I'm not talk about the bump steer because that's an easy fix. The frame moves to the right when you compress the front shocks so bad that the driver side shock hits the fucking chassis it's really bad and nobody has mentioned it besides RC reviews he goes over it. Oh and I haven't seen one single gen8 driveshaft that is phased correctly including all of mine which is another huge problem.
@@Mrrootsfull The scx10 is also a 10 year old rig so it's not going to be the best crawler out there but it gets the job done if you want a truck that's easy to work on with a shit ton of after market support

I accidentally destroyed my 1st gen wraith kit. 3 cell brushless into a metal I beam. Whole front was smeared off. To the windshield. LOL now but I about cried then.

We get it horizon you own Axial now but god damn it! You could not put a small logo in the lower half of the box couldn't you? you are the equivalent of EA Games for the RC Industry I would not be surprised if you just dissolve the Axial name altogether in a few months.
