It's been a long time since I posted a video... that's because a few weeks ago I developed severe symptoms of GERD. I went to the ER 4 times because of it. I was having a lot of difficulty breathing and chest pain after eating, drinking, and lying down. At first, I thought I had COVID, but got 2 negative test results. Once the doctors figured out what was going on, I got medication and needed to make lifestyle changes. I felt much better right away! I'm still continue to recover, but in the midst of everything, I did an enormous amount of research into GERD, so I thought why not make a video about it? - Viola
I've got chronic GERD, running 19 years now since birth. 2-300 acid burps/reflux per day, constant sore throat etc. I experience almost all of these symptoms and it is a living hell. Good luck to my fellow acid spitters.

@@jmly9194 Thank you for your concern. I got it recommended, yeah, but the tradeoffs (not being able to burb, more problems swallowing, etc. etc.) outweighed the benefits.

@@petyabor5223 hi there. Absolutely all of it and the most debilitating one is the lack of air and gasping for it. I treated gerd using Apple cider vinegar in capsules before eating. It’s way easier to take rather than raw vinegar mixed with water. You can order it on Amazon. Also, it could be that all of these are just the symptoms and not the cause itself. The symptoms you describe are more related to the evil eye if you believe in it.
GERD IS THE WORST THING EVER !😭 I JUST WANT TO BE NORMAL AGAIN! IM VERY SCARED I WAS DOJNG FINE BUT I GUESS I BROKE DIET AND WENT BACK INTO THIS BAD SYMPTOMS LIKE TROUBLE SWALLOWING & BREATHING PROBLEMS THAT TRIGGER PANICK ATTACKS ! 😫😭
If you have GERD also watch out for some medications that tend to be caustic. I went on an antibiotic that caused a chemical esophageal burn and ended me up in the hospital for a week. Certain meds require being upright for a few hours to avoid burns in peeps with these type of issues.
I took Tums thinking it would cure the acid reflux. It didn't. It made the situation worse. I had GERD for a few months now. Consult with a doctor first before taking any medication.
You dont know how helpful this video is. The best way to cure acid reflux is improving your diet. That's what works best. Identify your triggers and avoid that at all costs. For me it's cake, excessive chocolates, deep fried stuff and coffee. Other than these....i can eat whatever I want how much ever I want. Also get sleep and please stop stressing.
Everyone knows someone with this issue, its super common and awfully uncomfortable. I have 3 family members with it. They have yet to change their diet 😕 Excellent explanation here. Thank you 👍🧡

@@jojoubadi696 look, research shows gerd is actually the product of prolonged strong acid or WEAK acid in the stomach. Weak acid allows food to ferment in the stomach and doesn't stimulate bile to be released from the gall bladder and saponify fats. As a result your small gut rejects the incoming and reverses it back up. The LES is also weak. Why? Could this have to do with brain health and inflammation? What causes weak acid?
I have a friend that has a son that has stomach gag that causes frequent coughing and at times, vomiting and bad abdominal pain. She told me he has had this condition all his life, current age is 23 but is obese weighing 250-270 Ibs.
Sooo from everything else I’ve read and learned about gerd is that is actually a result of LOW stomach acid. Bcuz it is low the sphincter doesn’t close instinctively allowing some acid to come back up. It apparently instinctively closes when the body/stomach is producing enough acid
@@NigelTolley makes perfect sense because that would explain why foods aren’t digested properly when they come out the other end. if there was enough acid then you would have proper enzymes released by gallbladder and pancreas and food would be digested and absorbed correctly . thats y the acv solution works. it helps the stomach produce more acid which allows the food to be broken down better and doesn’t just sit in the stomach.
@@tjgrafiks that sounds more like IBS than reflux/GERD. Also, if it was low acid, how would the main treatment, proton pump inhibitors, work? They stop acid production.
@@NigelTolley exactly proton pump inhibitors keeps the cycle going. GI doctors alway misdiagnose gerd/acid reflux issues. it’s not bcuz of too much acid it’s bcuz of not enough acid! I proved it myself 10 years ago when i was having acid reflux. i was given nexium or prilosec and it made me feel worse after a few days. I learned about acv and lemon juice/water and after a few days ...symptoms were gone and also when i started taking digestive enzymes it helped improve digestion. I should have made that my daily regimen. after a few years I slacked off and now here I am again becuz of stress and nerve issues, worse than before and suffering malabsorption

Heres my experience that helped me. I had really bad acid reflux and started developing spasms that were pretty bad, that pretty much happened most of the day. One of the following things fixed the problem. First I started eating papaya seeds, spoonful twice a day, with a glass of water with half a lemon squeezed in. Also was taking zinc pills. I did this for about a week, a few days later acid reflux is totally gone and zero spasms. The only other thing was I went to the chiropractor twice and got cracked. I had a problem in one of my ribs years ago which felt like a knot in my back overtime with my work. So there's a chance the spasm was due to my back as well. Hope this helps anyone give it a try.
A family member got the surgery. It fixed the GERD issue, but the gas that you belch is going to come out the other end. They don't really tell you the farting side effect to expect. He said it was still worth it.
I gave myself GERD from alcoholism. I drank because i had severe social anxiety since childhood. I overcame the social anxiety but now this GERD has left me with horrendous breath 24/7, its horrible. I cant talk to women or make qny new friends like ive always wanted to now.

I used to have heartburn every day, lots of burping, and difficulty breathing without vurping in my mouth. Some things that helped me: - WEARING LOOSER PANTS (big one, tight waistbands pushed that shit right up into my mouth) - Cutting dairy for the most part (I also cut meats, both can cause inflammation) -Regular sleep schedule!! (It reliably flares up when I pull all nighters) - Eating smaller meals and avoiding spicy foods It was the worst when I was eating a lot of ice cream, staying up all night every other night, and then running with tight pants on.
For anyone struggling with gerd out there I literally cured mine, I’m not sure what it was but I am taking garlic pearls and olive leaves extract capsules. My gerd is gone. I had it so bad to where I couldn’t even sleep laying down.
@@lullabygoodbye25 watch your diet. Don’t wear tight clothes on your waste area. Walk after eating if possible. Avoid eating several hours before sleeping (it sucked for me cuz I eat a lot lmao but it was worth getting better). Sleep on your left side to keep the stomach juices in. Sleep on an incline if possible. Take antacids when needed. What cured me was all the above and what miraculously cured me the most was forgetting I had it. Seriously. Anxiety can play a huge factor. After learned to live with it I ended up forgetting I had it by focusing on more important matter and one day I ate 6 pizzas without getting any type of heartburn. I’ve had Gerd for about 8 months now. Got an upper endoscopy and everything looks good according to my doctor. I Was prescribed on lansparozle twice a day and now my medication is switched to esomeprazole. Medication and over the counter drugs have never helped me once. I eat pretty well for the most part but sometimes even the healthier foods can mess me up. Every time I experience reflux it is so bad to where I can’t even swallow without feeling irritation in my esophagus. No water or anything. Also every time I experience reflux I throw up. I will Usually vomit one time but there have been nights where it’s been more. Just looking for suggestions on what to do because I feel so stuck and this is really taking a toll on me.
Sorry you have this :-( Based on my experience and my own research (I’m not a doctor), PPIs can be problematic. They are necessary to use at first to let the esophagus heal, but they are often prescribed for too long at too high a dose. PPIs should be taken for the shortest time possible and it’s important to ease off of them to minimize rebound reflux. Also look into something called rumination since you are vomiting. It’s often confused for GERD. And yeah, PPIs didn’t help me either except I needed them at first for my esophagus to recover.
Hi, i just had my endoscopy today too. I’ve been having severe symptoms difficulty breathing and all but endoscopy results according to the doctor is nothing serious he said i have a little scratch on my stomach but I don’t believe that because everyday im suffering from it and i lost weight because I can’t eat even water i get so full.
@@NeuralAcademy I’ve heard that about PPIs and have been off them for a little while now. Recently got an ultrasound and my issues could have something to do with my gallbladder. I go for a HIDA scan end of March. Thank you for the reply. I’ll definitely look into rumination since I’m still vomiting. I’m learning to vomit less but it still happens and I’ve had some unintended weight loss.

From this video I hav learned about association of asthma with GERD . Thanks . I wish this video was also talking about foods that help the digestion to naturally product HCL . Our stomach needs to be acidic in order for the food to be broken down . If the food isn't broken down the nutrients are not absorbed and the bacteria in the stomach travels to the small intestine causing SIBO . This can cause B12 deficiency and anemia. ACV, lemon juices, cabbage juice , sulphuric vegetables are helping with GERD. PPI are addictive, once you start on them for extended period of time it's hard to come off them . This causes many serious side effects. Vegetable and seed oils are pro inflammatory, wheat and corn are literally a poison to the gut . Sugar of all sources is worse than cocaine.

After the heartburn drink a small glass of water with one little spoon of Sodium bicarbonate. (idk how that called in your country) A lot of kitchens have that. People used it to make cakes or making meat more soft. Relief is immediate. Or buy a bottle of Magnesium acetate in your drug store. That reduces the gasses and the acidness after the meals.

What really helped me with the regurgitation (and other symptoms too!) was diaphragmatic breathing (4 seconds in, 4 seconds out - work up to 4 sec in, 4 sec hold, 8 sec out) any time symptoms got worse and before and after eating. I also slept on a high incline on my back. Acid reflux meds are important for letting your esophagus heal, but from everything I've read, you should stay on them for the shortest time/lowest dose possible to manage symptoms, and wean yourself off slowly because there's a rebound acid effect. Also, not to scare you, because this is rare, but my GI thinks the PPIs I was on lead me to develop microscopic colitis, which really sucks. It's in remission right now, but it's not a fun thing to have and it's not curable. The PPIs also gave me a lot of side effects that waned the longer I used them. Also, the breathlessness is definitely the scariest part :-( Hang in there - it can get better. Also, another thing that helped me (I had a hiatal hernia) was a chiropractic maneuver (I got my husband to do it on me) where you pull your stomach down (you can look this up on TH-cam). Other tips: small, frequent meals. Wait 30 mins after eating to drink, drink up to 5 mins before eating. Don't drink through straws or gulp drinks. Avoid fizzy drinks. And, if you have constipation - that makes GERD/regurgitation worse because it presses up on the stomach. Diaphragmatic breathing, poop massages, and stool softeners like milk of magnesia or miralax help. Lastly, ask a doctor if you have rumination syndrome. Hope that helps! Viola
I would suggest taking the medication an actual doctor suggested? I mean, 7+ years of medical school, etc is likely better than "doing your own research" and drinking vinegar or taking worming tablets.
What does lymphoid hyperplasia feel like in the throat? My throat feels so full, heavy and tight I feel like it will close anytime especially at night and it's Affecting my sleep coz I always wake up coz I can't breathe
I used to suffer from severe acid reflux all day, every day. After I quit smoking, I felt normal again-exactly 12 weeks later. Nicotine relaxes the esophageal sphincter, which makes acid reflux worse, so even nicotine patches can be harmful if you're dealing with this issue. My advice is to quit smoking cold turkey and give it at least 12 weeks to see if your symptoms improve. Personally, I’ll never smoke again.
I have several panic attacks because of GERD. Difficulty of breathing something heavy on my upper abdomen I sometimes burp but most of the time I was farting. This sympy triggers everytime I consume dairy, coffee, chocolates and spicy foods, and frequent eating. I also have chronic sinusitis all of the sudden I got a feeling it is because of my GERD.
39 years old and never had GERD issues until earlier this year. I am pretty athletic and don’t have weight issues. I have that upper- abdomen “weight” feeling you describe that sometimes gets relieved with a burp or two, but then it’s game on. I thought I may have a hiatal hernia. After the burp, I feel inflammation and burning in my throat, sinuses get involved with burning sensation and blockage and there is a waterfall of post-nasal mucus that just lingers and sometimes affects breathing. This can be quite scary. I have had trouble identifying a trigger. The second I feel things coming on, I pop some Pepcid and maybe a couple of Tums. If I catch it in time it isn’t debilitating. Will follow up with an ENT very soon. Good luck, Michelle.
May also want to consider gastritis. Go on a gentle diet for a while (bread, soup rice, bananas, etc). No spice. Give your stomach time to replenish the mucosal lining if you’ve damaged it with spicy food, alcohol and/or overly acidic foods.

I got diagnosed with this shit today after my doctor's appointment... I told him I had Covid-19 and started taking Dayquil/Nyquil and switched to Tylenol when I got my results back. Stopped taking it when I started burping a lot and felt the acidity go up in my body. He said the virus causes it...

So sorry you are experiencing this!! :-( Perhaps you don't have GERD but rumination syndrome. I had the same thing happen and kept throwing up and that ended up being the reason. I'm not a doctor, but here's what my doctors told me (which worked!) - try diaphragmatic breathing - 6x before and after eating and whenever symptoms occur. Eat a tiny bit of food every hour or two up until 3 hours before bed.

I have this so severely any food at all makes me cough. I was hacking up a lung last night. I got symptomatic today from a protein shake and a bit of cheese. I’m tired of hyperventilating 24/7 and coughing. I hope a doctor can do something about this but I really hope I don’t get told diet change as all food is problematic now.
It seems totally plausible that it could. Think about it, when a person has acid reflux regularly, over a long period of time, their throat begins to be affected, as does their larynx (voicebox). As the acid sits there, at the start of the airway, gradually it'll begin to seep into the lungs (slowly but surely, where damage will then occur) I know that the things I've just said are indeed correct because I myself am a GERD sufferer, I have been since birth. I have had the hoarse voice the video speaks of, I've also been through frequent bouts of coughing, throat clearing, as well as the horrible taste of acid in my mouth. And I do get shortness of breath from time to time as well... Stomach acid is a pH2 acid... Very strong indeed - you don't want any of that getting anywhere near the delicate tissues that are your esophagus, throat and airways. The lining of the stomach is strong enough to withstand the acids effects, anything outside of the stomach is not unfortunately. All in all a miserable condition to have :(

I think I have gerd without any burning or regurgitating. I have a lot of the symptoms including the feeling of something stuck in my throat which I think is because a valve is staying open due to gerd and shortness of breath.
My symptoms Belching (8months) Globus(8-10 months on and off) Post nasal drip(3 months after being sick from acute sinus infection) Bloated stomach but this symptom went away. My doctor told that I most likely don’t have GERD because GERD is mostly a symptom of heartburn which I don’t have. He said my belching & bloating is from over eating and swallowing air & the post nasal drip is from allergies after getting sick. I never told him about the globus sensation though but my symptoms 100% sounds like LPR(Silent Reflux) or maybe IBS??? Idk. I also suffer from anxiety. As a kid I had asthma which I still have but its it had anymore. I tested negative twice for H. Pylori
Sadly, if one has systemic scleroderma disease, that disease can cause the same GI damage like GERD does. It can also lead to dysphagia, strictures in the esophagus, and in some cases--even cancer of the esophagus as well as Barrett's esophagus too! This is caused by a type of collagen that, if produced too much in the body, can cause cellular damage, but scleroderma causes overproduction of that collagen.
How have you been? I have the same problem. I'm 27. When I eat I'm always afraid of getting stuck so I need to eat soups and creams. Sometimes I have to much belchings than I can't sleep. Have you already had an endoscopy? My results are ready for the next week. 😢

I suddenly Develop high level of Gerd and got asthmatic symptoms as well which I though was due to some allergens later I found it was due to Gerd. Things that help me control 95% of Gerd . Hope it will help someone else as well . 1) Your posture is the 1st you should look after as when you bend or your shoulders are slouched or you are overweight there is too much pressure on your stomache that doesn’t let the LE valve close . I tried some posture corrector it helped me a lot 2) watch Dr Berg video related to Gerd you will learn PPI are going to make this worse in long term in most cases it is due to low ph of stomache acid due to which the LE valve doesn’t not close. 3 ) Follow strict diet chart download food to avoid in Gerd be on that for at least 6 months because Gerd is chronic and get worse with time .
Does anyone have throat issues with GERD? I would get tight throat sensations and choking sensations like someone is putting two hands around my neck and trying to choke me. I would sometimes gag from this. Food feeling stuck on the side of my throat, after eating meal shortly which causes me to panic and this has been done before, would get checked out, nothing stuck or they won't check me since I'm eating, talking and drinking. Shortness of breath, heartburn and burning throat. It gets worse since I have severe anxiety disorder. This is so annoying to deal with, I feel like my symptoms will kill me one day, the ER doesn't do much, just recommends me to see my GI and just take over the counter medicine for now. If someone is dealing with the same symptoms too, I'm sorry you're dealing with this.. it just ruins my lifestyle so much when I feel like this, even though they said lifestyle changes can help drastically.
That is EXACTLY what happened to me. The following is from my personal experience (I'm not a doctor). Eventually I was told I had esophageal hypersensitivity - basically the nerves in my esophagus got "traumatized" by something and were now over-reacting to normal stimuli - e.g. certain foods, textures, food that was too hot/too cold, thin liquids like water. It got to the point where I could only eat 4-5 foods once they had been super blended and could barely drink water. The doctors said that it would have only continued to get worse until I'd only be able to eat/drink via a feeding tube. The only way to improve, and I know how hard this is because of the choking feeling, is to slowly expose yourself to things that are uncomfortable. It can take weeks to months to start improving. But there is hope - it's been 1.5 years now since I was in your shoes and pretty much back to normal. Try doing diaphragmatic breathing before and after eating (make sure you're doing it correctly). I also had silent reflux (a form of GERD), rumination syndrome, and a hiatal hernia. Maybe ask them for tests specifically for those things and others like eosinophilic esophagitis. You need to see a gastroenterologist though. Hope that helps! - Viola

@@jojoubadi696 look, research shows gerd is actually the product of prolonged strong acid or WEAK acid in the stomach. Weak acid allows food to ferment in the stomach and doesn't stimulate bile to be released from the gall bladder and saponify fats. Sooo from everything else I’ve read and learned about gerd is that is actually a result of LOW stomach acid. Bcuz it is low the sphincter doesn’t close instinctively allowing some acid to come back up. It apparently instinctively closes when the body/stomach is producing enough acid
That makes no sense. It happens after eating when your stomach is full of acid and food. The flap should stop *both* coming back up.

After learned to live with it I ended up forgetting I had it by focusing on more important matter and one day I ate 6 pizzas without getting any type of heartburn. how long have you had GERD?
Gerd -> esophagitis -> barrett's esophagus (intestinal metaplasia) -> barrett's esophagus with dysplasia -> esophageal adenocarcinoma (cancer).
Gerd can be cured by diet and lifestyle changes please don't take it so seriously

Now are you fine?
Did you find the cure?

The symptoms I had are all completely gone, like they weren`t with me..
How are you now ?
The last part is everything i have 😢 shortness of breath i hope not asthma and iam safe from cancer 🙏
I have been having acid reflux so bad and I had to see ENT doctors and I have lymphoid hyperplasia in the throat due to long term problem with GERD. I have all of these symptoms it's awful. I have been having breathing issues and have to see a pulimary doctor for that, I don't know if that is related or not. Been having a hard time eating because of it. I am on this video today because I just stayed up all night and went to the ER because of my regurgitation and it's not going away my involuntary stomach spasms won't go away still right now and I need sleep lol.... but the ER prescribed me some acid reflux medication and I am super scared to take it... but I will get the prescription tomorrow. Thing is I am not sure how to stop this regurgitation. Hate that it's gotten to this point.
I'm so sorry you're going through this :-( Stay hopeful - I was there a few months ago and now I'm almost 100% back to normal. I'm not a doctor, so don't take this as medical advice, but here is what worked for me.

Same here😢 I'm always scared of being alone😢
May also want to consider gastritis. Go on a gentle diet for a while (bread, soup rice, bananas, etc). No spice. Give your stomach time to replenish the mucosal lining if you’ve damaged it with spicy food, alcohol and/or overly acidic foods.

I have severe GERD going on 12 years. I cannot get through the day with feeling miserable on top of that I have a cough with it. I have had many procedures done trying to find a way to fix or find out what else is going on. I need surgery but don’t know which one.
Is Breathing hard for you?
R u fine now
I can't eat anything and keep throwing up what should I do ? I keep eating tums but that doesn't work at all
So sorry you are experiencing this!!
Being diagnosed with Melanoma Cancer has been a major loss of money and has caused major problems in my

Very informative video. Thank you
Thanks doc. 👍
Do you got any diet suggestions for this condition?
Lifestyle changes help a lot. Losing weight. Quitting smoking. Taking medication. Eating GERD friendly foods
Can reflux raise your pulse blood pressure

Yes. Also increase your heart rate that’s what it does to me
I never knew what was GERD until coming across corpse husband. As soon as I started learning about this condition, it became apparent that I suffer from this. Sometimes the most random event snake you discover things about yourself
it could be something else. you should get it checked.
Can GERD really cause shortness of breath?
It seems totally plausible that it could. Think about it, when a person has acid reflux regularly, over a long period of time, their throat begins to be affected, as does their larynx (voicebox). As the acid sits there, at the start of the airway, gradually it'll begin to seep into the lungs (slowly but surely, where damage will then occur)
I know that the things I've just said are indeed correct because I myself am a GERD sufferer, I have been since birth.
All in all a miserable condition to have :(
Yes. Acid will cause your airways in your lungs to close so they avoid taking it in.

Okay, so i woke up this morning gasping for air and my throat was like on fire but as i was swallowing, the burning got better but i don’t really have any of these symptoms besides the burping , please help😭
What a wonderful blessing from Dr.Auchi on TH-cam, who use his Natural roots and healing for me to cure my Tmau disease completely being just 21 day of use the herbal medicine ✅✅✅
If suffering from hyper-acidity or acid reflux, eat red apples to neutralize and get rid of the problem.
What are medications that strengthen the LES
I think I have gerd without any burning or regurgitating. I have a lot of the symptoms including the feeling of something stuck in my throat which I think is because a valve is staying open due to gerd and shortness of breath.
How are you now..
My symptoms
Belching (8months)
Globus(8-10 months on and off)
Post nasal drip(3 months after being sick from acute sinus infection)
Bloated stomach but this symptom went away.
Im scared being 13 and my acid is 2 months im scared
And i want to swallow normally again
I cant eat
How have you been? I have the same problem. I'm 27.
When I eat I'm always afraid of getting stuck so I need to eat soups and creams. Sometimes I have to much belchings than I can't sleep.
Have you already had an endoscopy? My results are ready for the next week. 😢

You should know what kind of acid reflux you have if thats acid stress or a normal acid reflux
You need to know whats the reason you have acid because medicine will never work

I tried some posture corrector it helped me a lot
2) watch Dr Berg video related to Gerd you will learn PPI are going to make this worse in long term in most cases it is due to low ph of stomache acid due to which the LE valve doesn’t not close.
- Viola
Thank you for sharing some helpful advices! I should be seeing a GI tomorrow, I'm pretty nervous since I'm hoping it's nothing too bad when they check my throat, but I really want to take care of my symptoms too so I can get rid of this feeling soon and enjoy my lifestyle again

I have the severe Gerd and i hate it fearing for my life every day and night breathing problems choking and embarrassing belching all the time.
I have tried all types of medicine Pantoprazole, Omeprazole, Rabeprazole Esoprazole , Simithicone Avarin, did all the test ecg cbc ultrasound xray all fine and all i have to do is suffer. Then i tried changing my diet no dairy no oily foods just Oatmeal for breakfast Egg whites for lunch then sautéed vegetables for dinner and every after meal i always drink Apple Cider Vinegar with Honey and it helped me ease the symptoms i still have Gerd but I don’t have breathing problems ad mush as before.
Id like to share this because i know how hard it is to have this condition.

I have yet to see a specialist but i suffer from all the symptoms that someone with GERD would suffer from. My GP had prescribed me esomeprazole 40mg which i also took gaviscon on top. That did nothing for me after being on it for 1 week. GP then prescribed pantoprazole 40mg which has worked better but i still get the heartburn, chest tightness and throat burn at night. I'm hoping to take pantoprazole for short duration to give throat some time to heal (2 week have been on it now) and see a specialist soon. I don't belch a lot, just a few times a day; but the coughing attacks worry me as it brings up stomach acid in to throat and i do worry about possible damage to lungs? Exercise is not possible atm but all the stress and only eating a couple of times a day has led to weight loss of 13kg in one month! I would like to find a natural way to manage/cure this rather than medicate for years on end and suffer the side effects.
Most pain I've ever felt in my life. Always worse at night. I feel like dying
