I dont mean to insult you but its a Retro 60s type shape that Fender is using to appeal to the younger generation. Could you imagine a musician who plays metal or even Hard Rock playing this guitar because i cant.

That is all. Yes maybe that shape does not quite fit the genres you referto, but I've seen crazier things in my time. Different strokes for different folks ..... lol
Although I am a fan of classical forms, I must admit that Meteora is a very, very beautiful instrument! I applaud Fender's designers, Meteora looks like jumping for cougar! And at the same time a well-recognized Fender sound!
I love the Meteora shape. Have loved it since I saw it, and fell deeper in love with it when Chris Tapp of The Cold Stares picked up the first one out of the Custom Shop. This iteration is must order, must buy. On that this morning.
Just won one of these on one of the raffle/competition sites. The jade green one. Hasn't been delivered yet, but it's my first proper Fender and I can't wait. Love offsets, love the fact this is a unique yet comfortable body shape. These new pick-ups seem tasty and versatile too.

I have been obsessing over these guitars for a few years. I want a metallic/sparkle/flake black meteora with an ebony fretboard, an overwound p90 in the neck, and a screaming humbucker at the bridge. I would buy one as described immediately, and consider buying a second so I could take one out to play. Wish they had a Squier-priced alternative.
I suppose if you’ve got the cash to burn you could get a Strat neck from Warmoth which should fit the pocket on the meteora and then get the pups from BareKnuckle. They’ve got tons of hot hbuckers and p90s built to fit hbucker cavities
What an interesting guitar. I really like the body shape and the electronics! Unfortunately no rosewood fingerboard and the colors don‘t do it for me. Awesome that they included locking tuners tho!
To fix the trem you need a packet of fender springs that are much like pickup mount springs but shorter and 10 times as strong. Lets you adjust the position of the arm better and helps prevent over tightening of the trem arm. I broke mine on my 86 jap strat and tracked these down after. .Because they are special metal and cost more Fender don't put in low end models !
Went through something similar on more than 1 MIM strats. Techs often came up with symptom fix its - but never really solved the problem. I ended up getting rid of them. I pretty much counted out the MIM scene. Too many QA issues for even an under 1000 guitar. Again - another few hundred later - Japan- no issues. Bass wood? okay but the craftsmanship is impeccable.
Im expecting delivery tomorrow (4/27/22) of a Bel Aire blue Meteora, loving the reviews and demo's Ive see of this guitar so far. Will update soon. Whoot! Excited!

I played one of these recently, & it stacks up well against my Strat, 120 Explorer, & my HH Jaguar, the later which I'll be selling to fund purchasing of a Meteora haha. I bought it for an ex that never practiced & left it behind anyway, so it's past time to find it a new home. With the right amp, you can coax a very convincing Strat sound out of it, & the humbuckers don't quite match the Burstbucker Pros in the Explorer, but they have their own distinct thing going on, & versatility is where it's at.
I love the Meteora shape so much, but man there is always something that's just a little off with the configurations for me personally. I think it started with the parnormal series meteora which was a tele in that body shape. Then they did the hardtail one with humbuckers. Now they have done this version. This version has better colors, but I would have preferred the hardtail and P90s, lipstick, or something else.
This would have been my dream guitar when I was younger. I've always like offset and weird shaped guitar with pretty traditional pickup arrangement. Now I tend to like something more compact like my Squier Cyclone. I kinda felt annoyed with the extra chunk of wood in the bottom of an offset guitar. That's why I also designed an offset-ish guitar with a cut on that extra wood. Pretty close to Abasi guitars' ass. Do you still have the St Vincent? I think comparing that with this will be interesting.
I've played several of the Parallel Universe Series Meteoras... couldn't find the Jim Root one anywhere in stores, but the ones I played were pretty cool... missing the one thing, the wiggly thingy! Have wondered for a while now what happened?!?! I thought they were super cool, but they seemed to just disappear... and now... BLAM. like a Suprise in the Sky coming at you... the METEORA is BACK with a BANG! VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS GUITAR!!! Thanks for another Killah review my friend!!! 😎🎸🤘
It's like a Fender Modern kinda like the Les Paul Modern which I love. Next time I have a chance to invest in an expensive guitar, I might give it a go. Great video guy!

Yeah, it has a huge trem block but it’s pop metal. Just put a magnet to it and you’ll see (which I suggest to do with every trem block). Same for the saddles. I’ve changed these but I’m still looking for a good steel trem block that will fit. Any suggestions?
I dig it. Funnily enough, first guitars i thought of was the Teisco's i'd see at Thrifty's in the late '60s for $39.95 . Not a slight since these are better. I just like a trip back.
Love the playing. Inspired me to get one. Did you have an issue with the pickups being noisy. The hum is louder than an single coils I own. Almost louder than the guitar. Wondering if that’s common for these.
@@edenhendry23 I don’t know if the hum is on every one. I hadn’t really heard it on others. Mine was fairly strong. The pickups aren’t potted so they are noisier. I had my local luthier pot them and now they are awesome
Ah, Fender woke up from boredom and made something original. The most striking for me are the three point pickup adjustment screws, no more wibbly wobbly pickups! Very sweet and round sound, but still capable of some bite. For the rest: what you said, Henning.
Looks like a production Jazzblaster, which is a mod inspired by Sonic Youth. Basically a Jazzmaster with wide range humbuckers and deletion of the rhythm circuit.
That is some amazing guitar, it's not for me, but I could listen forever to your playing with this guitar. And that is not because of your playing Henning … well not only. ;-)

They took a great design and then screwed it up. Sometimes I just want to smack Fender. I wish they had skipped these and just mounted the neck pickup to the pickguard and the bridge pickup to the body. They would have to route the pickguard either way so just skip the ugly pickup rings. Kind Regards.

Honestly, the only thing I don't like is how the pickguard goes all the way to the end of the guitar and then does not round off on the top part. Small quibble to be sure but now I can't unsee how I want the pickguard to be and it just looks huge to me.
14:35 In my experience bolt-ons have the best sustain, followed by set-neck, and lastly neck thru. Conventional wisdom says it should be the opposite, and the internet will say I'm dumb, but I have owned all of them and bolt-ons sustain the best!
I assume you speak of euros. They're $1149.00 here in the States. Intriguing guitar, but I have several HH's already. Maybe in a few years I'll look at them again.

It is a really interesting guitar! I like the sounds, but in the bridge position it has a lot of highs and the tone knobs are really needed. It has a lot of clarity and shimmering in the tones and it is in a good way different to the other Fender guitars.
THIS. IS. AWESOME. But I'll wait for the Teleora that they did through the alternate universe series. HH is cool but not as cool as the Tele setup on a Meteora body.
I really love how these look, but it must feel like trash stock. Mexican Strats are really rolling the dice. Some are great and play well and some...ugh! Great video as always, of course. I want one, but I would have to play it and see if it was a good one, as opposed to just ripping one off line. Thanks!
Really don't understand why Fender can't sort out the trem arm play issue on their guitars. It's not like there aren't easy solutions to this which aren't plumbers tape. I've just forked out for a staytrem system for my Jaguar and come to accept Fender trem systems mean essential upgrades.

these newer marketing campaigns really go full on youtube. not a critic, just an observation. little over a week ago every channel had to revstar... today its the meteora. kind of tells which 'reviews' are kind of bought. when will they make a meteora with jazzmaster vibrato? it would be glorious
@@EytschPi42 one can tell that everyone who joins the initial video craze it related to yamaha when it comes to the specific video. when i say these people 'are bought' all i mean is that these journalists are somewhat in a business relationship with the specific brand. i.e. with the revstars there was a launch date for all the youtube videos which goes along the release date. all these videos kept popping up around the same time (as we see now with the meteora). i am not trying to judge that. it just shows where youtube is at.
to say that Mexican guitars don't come set up properly is a bit of a misnomer. I've found that very few american guitars are properly setup. Especially Fender and Gibson. Played a Meteora for the first time in my local Toronto store today and was blown away by how good it felt and sounded. Better than all the American Fenders in the store - on par with the Music man and Suhr's. as far as fit & feel.Played like an old Strat. I'm now thinking that I shouldn't have left without it

Ok, so that August Leaves kind proves it can’t jazz haha. Well I wasn’t interested on a Meteora for that particular thing but it’d been nice. Im kinda wanting one as a gig guitar idk yet though
I prefer it this way. We get the deluge of reviews out of the way in one day, then go back to diverse content for the rest of the month. If Fender staggered the reviews, (1) we get meteora reviews most days for a month, (2) TH-camrs get the hump with Fender because they weren't first choice day-1 channel.
Pretty much true of any "new" piece of gear that's being marketed by gear makers... I'm glad Fender is making them... and made some "standardized" changes to the guitar... all good moves of you ask me... all I know is, I WANT ONE! How about you?
but what is bad about the channels that you like showing you that gear? Back in the day a new product had the SAME ad in every magazine... did you complain about that too? Now they pay us to review these things and you get completely different and often honest points of view... I think that is MUCH better than the ads.

You can always adjust the screws on the pickup to deal with the high E if you dont want to raise the action on that string

It should have a offset vibrato

I just use a Fender trem arm spring to fix the issues with floppy tremolo arms. €7,99 at Thomann for 12 springs. It's an easy fix.
You can also use the cotton from a Q tip to keep it from wobbling

my american strat also came with that "flippy" trem arm, its easy to tighten though.

when i say these people 'are bought' all i mean is that these journalists are somewhat in a business relationship with the specific brand.
i.e. with the revstars there was a launch date for all the youtube videos which goes along the release date. all these videos kept popping up around the same time (as we see now with the meteora).
i am not trying to judge that. it just shows where youtube is at.

to say that Mexican guitars don't come set up properly is a bit of a misnomer. I've found that very few american guitars are properly setup. Especially Fender and Gibson. Played a Meteora for the first time in my local Toronto store today and was blown away by how good it felt and sounded. Better than all the American Fenders in the store - on par with the Music man and Suhr's. as far as fit & feel.Played like an old Strat. I'm now thinking that I shouldn't have left without it

I like it, but it's like the Acoustasonic release all over again. Everywhere you look it's another Metora video.
I prefer it this way. We get the deluge of reviews out of the way in one day, then go back to diverse content for the rest of the month. If Fender staggered the reviews, (1) we get meteora reviews most days for a month, (2) TH-camrs get the hump with Fender because they weren't first choice day-1 channel.
Pretty much true of any "new" piece of gear that's being marketed by gear makers... I'm glad Fender is making them... and made some "standardized" changes to the guitar... all good moves of you ask me... all I know is, I WANT ONE! How about you?
but what is bad about the channels that you like showing you that gear? Back in the day a new product had the SAME ad in every magazine... did you complain about that too? Now they pay us to review these things and you get completely different and often honest points of view... I think that is MUCH better than the ads.
