Is an anchor actually stronger than a coarse threaded wood screw of the same length? Of course the anchor allows you to replace the bolt anytime which is convenient but what about just plain strength?
@@mattsaussieoutdoors9020 Diameter of the anchor. Steel bolt to steel anchor: Not worried about the strength of these. I'd be using a few to spread the force around. I don't understand why wood anchors aren't used more often when hanging things from the ceiling. But we need large ones. Like 1/2" at least.

In your question would the wood screw be the diameter of the anchor or the diameter of the bolt
