Metroid Prime 4, Metroid 6, some type of Metroid spinoff and then a Metroid Movie hopefully a live action one unless it's made by Gennady Tartakovsky but that's a fantasy.
I also think Nintendo would really benefit from Metroid being popular. Particularly because it's old as Mario and Zelda and of similar quality and influence. Also because it's seen as their more "mature" franchise. It would add an emphasis for Nintendo's marketing that they have variety and something for everyone.
@@smellybondoape It’s funny cause most people see Metroid being more “mature” as a reason why it can’t/won’t be as popular as the major series but I however see the reason being the major theme of Isolation. Because of that the major thing that gives Metroids appeal are the levels/areas and gameplay rather than characters
I'm glad that someone else mentioned how bad the name "ARMS" is. It's so generic and non-specific, like those children's movies that use one common word like Tangled or Frozen. Contrast that with Splatoon which is a clever portmanteau that conveys the spunky attitude of the series.
Hmm… I think Kid Icarus could have a lot of potential as well, but of course that would require someone to make a new game… Then again Sakurai did say he recieved a request to write a game proposal when finishing up ultimate dlc and apparently it took a while to assemble the team… If Nintendo did want to push the Kid Icarus IP that does kind of seem like what you would expect to happen. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
It’s sold better than most recent new Nintendo franchises (not named Splatoon or RFA) on its first go, especially in a genre like fighting games that are hard to break into. So there’s definitely potential there.
I feel like Pikmin would need some sort of big media push besides the game and the merch, wouldn’t it be cool if before the second Mario movie you had a Pikmin short, in a similar fashion as Pixar does
As someone living in Japan, I can confirm that the diversity of Kirby merch is phenomenal Most of Nintendo merch comes and goes so it's hard to give definite numbers but the last time I went to the Nintendo store it was almost as big as Splatoon, just without a statue On top of that, it's one of the franchises that sells the most outside of said stores, it's pretty hard to find even Animal crossing or Mario merch in none-gaming places outside of events but Kirby often has a small section inside generic goodies shops or even 100 yen shops Only Pokémon is really more present than Kirby everywhere imo I do agree with the recent push of Pikmin though which makes me happy as a fan. I just wanted to nuance the overall impression on Kirby.
@@surprisedlobsta8543 Yes that's probably it They are very much present at the Nintendo store unlike pokemon but they clearly have their own stuff outside as well Nintendo is actually quite conservative with its franchises' merch compared to others in Japan You can find a lot of Anime / characters (Sanrio) or even other video game merch (of similar renown) more easily Pokemon and to some extent Kirby are the exceptions due to their special status
The fact Nintendo didn’t get Shin’en in to make either a new F-Zero or Starfox (or ideally both). They’re so ridiculously talented I’d actually acquire them.

Another roadblock I've seen a while back is that people kept saying Fire Emblem is way too niche to be worth any attention, despite how many games it has gotten in recent years. At least, that's what I'm getting out of it.
I’d personally love for Warner Bros to get it together and work with Nintendo to make an adaptation of Three Houses akin to Invincible, and with Nintendo being on the production line, they wouldn’t screw it up like they did with Ninja Kamui and Uzumaki
@@aegisleague4053 Right now the the best selling Strategy RPG franchise is Super Robot Wars, with Fire Emblem coming very close. Meaning strategy games are usually a hard selling in the west.
You had already written off Xenoblade Chronicles for admittedly good reason, but it would be a dream come true for that series to get a massive boost in marketing at some point. Granted, It's already grown rapidly enough this console generation to earn a spot on Nintendo's B-List franchises alongside Metroid and Kirby, which is a miracle considering how rough the series' start was. Either way, to see people start to recognize Xenoblade Chronicles as Nintendo's Premiere JRPG franchise the past few years, sent to the market to contest with the likes of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, has admittedly stirred my heart with a little bit of pride.
If anything, I’d say that Kirby & DK are B-Tier while Metroid/Pikmin/Xenoblade/ARMS/Fire Emblem are C-Tier. Though Pikmin & Fire Emblem have the potential to break into B. Likewise, MonolithSoft does have some ownership over the Xenoblade franchise (hence the studio being mentioned in the copyrights) despite being a subsidiary studio. So that may limit things in terms of potential merchandising.
Arms is tough. I think it is in a similar position to F-Zero, where it is sufficiently different from Mario Kart to be certain, but it is also a second racing game. Arms has to compete with Smash Brothers, and you can say they are different enough, but fact is that the fighting game community is relatively niche, and does not lend itself to coexisting with other games (like having multiple platformers, RPGs etc)
As with Kirby, the co-ownership situation may make them slightly less incentivised to prioritise it. The rotating cast might be trickier from a merchandising pov as well. Then again Heroes is doing very well indeed as I understand.
I see more potential in some of the franchises that Nintendo doesn't fully own than some of the ones it does own. For example, Kirby could be *huge* if they really went all out in promoting it. And Fire Emblem is already a super successful gacha game so it has a lot of potential for merchandising and other media.
Other game devs should take note of this strategy by Nintendo: creating amd building a brand slowly to gain user base and not making a high budget propaganda with quick returns, then blame the gamers for their failure.
There's a problem. Publishers aren't interested in thinking long term and growing. Economy doesn't allow long term growth and everyone needs to make big money right now.
