Fantastic series! I do a lot of geocaching and one thing I do when acting suspicious around random people's property is put on a high-vis vest. I chose the colour blue because it could represent anything. I also have a bright yellow clip board and will sometimes even pretend I'm talking on the phone. I feel like the camo actually makes you a lot more suspicious becuase it looks like you're trying to hide, also people have more of a subcouncious threat associated with camo (army, hunting, etc...). In the woods it helped you a lot but I feel crossing open fields and peoples houses and might be better to try and actually stick out. You could even create a fake story/organization, you're tracking a weather balloon that crash landed near the property or something ridiculous that seems too crazy to be a lie. Make some business cards to hand out, lol. Anyways, excited to see more videos from you, love any type of challenge or exploring nature! :)

Looking for satellite debris. That would explain the straight line, and you can hand out leaflets warning about the dangers of hydrazine contamination on any debris they might find.

    • @antonioarroyas7662
      @antonioarroyas7662 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@operationjovy I know it's been a while but high vis vest with a clipboard in you backpack that has your backstory is the way to go. Meteorite debris is a good cover story. A laminated map with an oblong zone is the extra touch. You can toss a couple revisions in there that cover whatever section your crossing.
Also, getting permission from a few landowners along the way helps a ton.
This was the "easy mode" Ontario line but there is so much potential down the road.

As a long time fan of the OG Tom Davies, one who has treated his Adventure Films like MCU titles, this is a proud moment for me as it's the first time I've seen someone else do it in a way that can be enjoyed and felt like this. Sure, the first attempt didn't go great but the experience counts and that was certainly a big one! Great job, looking forward for more!!

Great series! As a fellow Ontarian and avid GW fan, I've definitely done some google earth scouting of potential Ontario straight-line challenges and (obviously) landed on a pretty similar start/finish point. But a quick look into Ontario's trespassing/roaming laws made me shut that idea down pretty quickly. Your series went about as expected unfortunately but still was a valiant effort, impressive you made it that far. Great content, keep it up and looking forward to more.

Thank you for the comment! Yes I’ve definitely spend countless hours roaming this part of Ontario on Google and each time wondering if it’s doable. I guess I found out the hard way the first time but we’ll see what the future holds!

    • @ThiKu

Yep in a country as large as Canada and trespassing laws what they are straight line missions here basically have to be in the wild going from one key landmark to another. Instead of “crossing a country”

You could do this but it would have to be at night. Farmers generally wont care, but when they see an army guy out in their field they wont sit idly. Late June (less muddy), walk at night, sleep during day in a wood like the last one. Or try it up north but that would be a real mission.

So, this popped up in my recommended vids and being someone who has lived in Windsor/Essex County my whole life, I thought it might be interesting. I had no idea I would enjoy this little series as much as I did though bro!
You literally walked by a bunch of places significant to me. For instance, at the start of video #1, the place where you started your journey was right by Kingsville Golf and Country Club- I used to work there. In the second video, you walked RIGHT past my Mom's house, and the Dairy Freeze is just about 1/4 KM up the street from my old apartment. Then you were headed straight for my old High School before the OPP (Official Party Poopers) ruined the fun. lol.
Anyway, awesome video dude! I hope you make more, that was fun to watch. You got a sub outta me fo sho!!

Great job! Geowizard fan here aswell. I give 100% respect for the effort. Walking straight lines in countries where private properties are scattered everywhere and where trespassing is a big no-no, is really difficult and you did your best. For a follow up - try set something up were you mostly cross public forrests/ national parks next if there is a good spot for it in Canada. Or if you ever want ta do it abroad and travel - do in Sweden (or Norway/Finland) where trespass isn't really a thing since you're legally allowed (called "Allemansrätten") to walk through private property.

@@KissaKassKotI still find that protectionist mindset fascinating. As much as North Americans seem to want to claim some affinity to Scotland, it couldn’t be more different to where I live. In Scotland we have the right to roam - anyone can cross any private property as long as you cause no damage or leave no litter.

But maybe you could try some of the long trails we have, theres one that (if im not wrong) ive seen that goes through brantford, kingston and ottawa. Idk where it starts or ends though .... I've watched a lot of the straight line videos but it's fun to see one done in an area i'm familiar with. Maybe a slightly more hilly area similar to Wales would help for a bit more cover from pissed off farmers and cops would help keep you hidden next time lol

@Operation Jovy looking forward to another straight line mission if you decide to do one! Here are my ideas for your next one. First, get a safety vest and a note pad with a fake name tag and possibly a fake embroidered logo. Tell land owners you need to conduct a geological survey of their land and you are only looking at one specific spot (the line of course). Also, plan for more forested areas along your route. This gives you good cover as well as a hiding place if you think cops are on the lookout. You can always keep a couple of hunting tarps that resemble the surroundings on your route. Avoid peoples yards as much as possible, especially close to windows. Pack extra GPS and camera batteries. Possibly plan some food stashes along your route for lighter backpack. Hope this helps you out!

An option for straight line missions might be travelling at night, but you can't use a torch or light as it will make you much more visible than if you were doing the walk in daylight. Open farmers fields are easy enough at night, but obviously woodland and swampy ground is not going to be good without a light or torch. Travelling at night isn't going to be any good for filming thought unless you use nightshot / infra red.

This series , just shows , If there were a Major SHTF and you had to BUG OUT ...the terrain would be the least of ones problems...When I walked across Canada from Toronto to Vancouver...using highways and backroads ...the obstacles were, the Manitoba and Alberta Police pull overs (aka Starlight Tours)..where the police pick you up , and drive you out to timbuck-too ...take all your gear and clothing, and tell you to walk to the next town in your socks and pants, no coat.. in -30 celcius winter weather.
, and the Fracked up People trying to run you over. I even got shot at and my back pack and canteen saved my life..(I still have that canteen).
I knew it had its weather dangers (I walked in Winter solo), and had a few wild animal encounters in spring with black bears, moose, even a small pack of wolves) but the humans were the most dangerous...I remember reaching past thunder bay, with a couple of youth hitchhikers, and we all got hit by a drunk trucker ..I was tossed into the ditch, while the other two were head on and paralyzed for life. I suffered only minor injuries.
Another time, a bunch of drunks chased me down the highway , and through a field , until they got jammed up in the snow and mud.
Your journey is a good "remember when" adventure..one that I wouldn't repeat, unless a big SHTF hit my town and I had no choice but to bug out.
Thanks for documenting this adventure with us...and It wasn't a failure...
