How migrants enter Canada at Roxham Road’s illegal border crossing

  • While visiting Roxham road during a frigid snowstorm recently, National Post saw two adults with a single plastic bag and three children adorned in small jackets and Crocs shoes, slowly make their way up hundreds of meters of the U.S. side of the snow-covered road.
As they approached a white obelisk - which marks the spot of the U.S. and Canada border - two RCMP officers exited a large barn-like structure on the other side and warned them that crossing the border was illegal and they would be arrested if they walked into Canada.

Year-over-year inflation stood at 6.5% in December 2022-the lowest that figure has been in more than a year. Inflation was in line with what economists expected and gave many of them a reason to believe that the peak of inflation may be behind us. I have approximately $150k stagnant in my port_folio that needs growth. What is the best way to take advantage of this downturn?

I'm sure the idea of a coach might sound generic or controversial to a few, but new study by investopedia found that demand for portfolio-coaches sky-rocketed by over 41.8% since the pandemic and based on firsthand encounter, I can say for certain their skillsets are topnotch, I've raised over $400k from an initially stagnant reserve of $150K all within 14months

Why did their driver not bring them right up to the ditch as most do? This is a remote, or at least very rural area, so where did they walk from? Also, how is it that they didn't have better winter clothing? In most of Turkey, people are not unfamiliar with winter. This degree of unpreparedness seems very unusual for those crossing at Roxham Road, regardless of where they're from. They're already present in NY State, in winter, yet the children are in Crocs? The odd circumstances around this family's crossing makes it seem staged.

The court decides whether the asylum seekers are eligible to get a Permanent residency in Canada after claiming the refugee status or whether they should be deported back to their home country. But due to the current backlog of IRCC, this process takes about three years. Meaning that the asylum seekers can work, get a health card, and get other benefits until their scheduled court date.
Majority of Canadians are in favour of Immigration but this is a far too easy way to be part of our country. It can also evolve into a serious safety hazard. Not to mention the taxpayer dollars being used to condition them.
The Safe Third Country Agreement should be amended.

Notice to immigrants, do not come to Canada unless you have money, rents are very high, cost of living is also very high and if you don't have a job that pays at least 50,000 dollars a year your not going to make it and you will be forced to leave or become homeless, I see more and more homeless out on the streets even in bad weather begging for money, believe me its not worth it. Yes I do my part in helping these people giving them money but most people donot because they have to use their money for paying bills. Right now Canada and the States are going through bad times, like some would call it a depression and money is tight meaning spending is down and people are not spending, of course its your choice and your life, but things have changed its not the same Canada that it was 45 years ago when things were great and everything was cheap and 100 dollars was worth 100 dollars now that 100 dollars is only worth 20 so think about that before you come.

@@colleenpeck6347 So here is an update, we are getting 500,000 new people in a year now whether we like it or not, in Toronto, there is no place for them to stay except on the streets and if they do not know how to speak the language they are totally in a bad place. It seems like the whole situation is not getting any better and in a lot of cities it is illegal to sleep on the streets or in tents and if your homeless and panhandling its a 5000.00 fine or jail, which is totally wrong. These small cities are now doing their own by-laws to make it a crime to be homeless, I did my part and tried to give fair warning, now its up to gov. to work things out before everybody that homeless ends up in jail. And really there is no way to know if these people that are coming in have a criminal backround or not, so we get the good, the bad and the ugly.

I understand the need for asylum and can understand the need for illegal crossing to gain that asylum... but... then what? I do have questions:
    1. Who pays for their stay? I assume it's federal gov (so, taxpayers). Again, a-okay but I'd like to know who and how much.
    2. How long do they get to stay and what are the limitations of their stay?
    3. From the moment they get to their hotel, what is the transition timeline?
Let's start with that. I have many more questions of which we just don't get to hear the answers.

1, You pay (the tax payers)
      2. They can stay up to 3-5 years, that's how long it takes to go through the entire process (big refugee backlog)
      3. I think they give them at lest 3 months of free shelter/hotel, after that they must move on to find their own housing but not quite sure.

      Answer:
      1) about $2500 / per moth if qualified. Paid by yours truly, the tax payer, via feds.
      2) two year prossesing period for asylum/ refugies.
      3) with in the 3rd year all migrant can apply for citizenship.
70% will leave Canada after that period. Citizen or not.
Hotels stay can last long, ( months or years) depending on the migrant situation.

Comment on my experience that I had, last year 2022 I arrived in Canada as a tourist from Mexico to the Montreal airport, after a long interview with an immigration officer, the police came to arrest me because an ex friend of mine invented that I wanted to hurt her, without knowing anything about these issues I arrived in Canada and fell into the trap, I had no other option than to be arrested and plead guilty to go free and later be deported with a criminal record.
Never in my life have I hurt anyone and this person, as long as she want to be accepted as a refugee, got me into trouble in Canada.

They know how to work here. They can work all kinds of jobs and it doesn't take them long to learn how to speak in English. These people never learn how to speak English now that kids will learn cause they go to school. But the parents will still be unable to speak English. It's not gonna be easy for them even if they get here in Canada. The standard of living here is VERY expensive regardless of where you live in Canada. Plus the culture here is not very welcoming to refugees who don't speak English fluently. They will be subject to racism in the streets, in the bus, in the train, especially dark skinned people. Many middle to low income whte people are racist (NOT ALL) When they get here they better work hard in learning English, at least they can talk back if some white(who are also immigrant here) will pick on them. Respect the norms of the country. Some norms in your country maybe rude here so be mindful. This could trigger racism. If you survive the jungle of Amazon to get here you should be able to survive the discrimination here because you will get it. You will experience discrimination. Now that you're here: WORK. Don't rely on the taxpayers to feed you. The taxpayers themselves are having a hard time feeding their families. Go out there and find jobs. It would a shame to add yourself to their burden.
