      the Performance variant with Track Mode comes with a preset Drift profile. it sends all the power to the rear wheels. you can also create your own profile to customize and fine tune it to the way you like.

  • @seigma5340
    @seigma5340 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey, I'm really surprised it's easy to drift without just tc and security features, I thought the torque vectoring decided by the software would make it act like an open diff, but it seems it's still sending enough torque to both of the rear wheels. Maybe without traction control the car cannot adjust the torque sent on each tire and therefore it they acts like with a locked diff?

    Fun video on drifting! Have to say I'm a bit disappointed that the was no mention of what I see as the primary benefit of reducing or disabling VSC/Traction control, which is improving lap times. Drifting is fun, but it is not fast. While you did show how restrictive the VSC/TC is and how it cuts power in the corners, that would have been a great time to talk about how just the right amount of oversteer can help rotate the car through the corner and result in faster lap times. Also, for anyone considering unplugging a wheel sensor, please be aware that this also removes the car's ability to activate ABS, (so your brakes can lock up and send you into a barrier), and it removes regenerative braking (so your brake pads and rotors will take a beating if you're really trying to track your car.) Hopefully you'll be able to highlight some of these items when you take owners to the track in October.

    • @i1Tesla
      @i1Tesla  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we will show you the difference on the track in OCT. The reason you want to disable the TC is because the computer cut the power and the car wont go as fast around the track for an experienced driver. Plus you can have fun and go side ways.

    Wait, did I hear you right? You’re 6’5”? And you have that much head room? I’m 6’1” and have (had maybe) trouble finding a sedan that good amounts of head room. I tend to have the seat straight up, as I don’t like that “gansta lean back”. In my current car, 2008 Honda Accord (1st foreign car company... but still built in the US) The headrest is actually pushing my head forward. From what I understand the rules changed in the 2007 model year for head rest, to where it’ll rest slightly forward of the seat. Probably because so many people lean their seat back too far.
    So how do you have your seat? Is it basically straight up or slightly leaned back, or more than slightly?

      What are all the options for all models for the headrest? Do they move only up/down or do they also move forward/backwards... either manual or motorized?

      @@andyfeimsternfei8408 you do know most of these cars get their electricity from coal right? Especially on the east coast, They pollute just as much as ice cars 🤦‍♂️

    • @andyfeimsternfei8408
      @andyfeimsternfei8408 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@manz7860 You know you are right, and you are wrong. Yes much of electricity is generated from coal but a coal plant produces a fraction of the pollution per kwh translated into miles driven by an EV as compared to burning fossil fuels in an ICE. Forget all the cost and "pollution" that comes from getting the gasoline into an ICE tank (which is huge). Take my model X, its 100kwh battery back holds less the 3 gallons equivalent of gasoline, yet I can drive 300 miles. How many gallons of gasoline does it take to drive 300 miles in your ICE? And can your ICE go 0-60 in 2.8 seconds while weighing 3-tons? Is your ICE the safest car ever built?
      I digress, a large, even old, coal burning power plant can generate 100kwh producing a fraction of the pollution that is created drilling, transporting, refining, transporting again so you can burn 10 gallons of gasoline in your 30mpg car at 10-15% efficiency. And none of that accounts for the trillion dollar wars we fight to get the oil.
      So yes, generate electricity from coal to power EVs, it creates a fraction of the pollution that oil does. EVs are always going to be better, better at everything. Less pollution, cheaper to buy and operate, last 5 to 10x longer, more power, more torque, far less complicated, the list goes on and on. Electricity is always a superior form of energy transport, conversion and use. Finally coal is dead and will never come back despite the heroic efforts of our greatest President of all times efforts! No utility in the US would even consider building a coal plant, no matter how its subsidized or how many pollution regulations are lifted. The economics simply are not there. In fact I say solar and battery storage will soon be the only economic option for utilities, and guess what, the utilities say the same thing too! Duke Power is installing $500 million worth of batteries in western NC rather than replacing an old coal plant that is retiring. The can't even build a gas peaker as cheap as solar and battery storage any more.
