Very interesting to learn my 2004 ST1300A has similar internal workings, probably identical except for a different housing. HONDA mounts the pump ‘internally’ to a front engine case, driving the impeller shaft via chain and sprockets directly from the crankshaft. This is a beautiful engineered construct, although I would have preferred a simple external bolt-up similar to your example. I similarly used your methodologies of repair, substituting a hydraulic press for more precise, measurable control during both disassembly and of course, reassembly. My toolbox and scrap bins supplied the needed variety of sockets and spacers needed. The main sticky point was encountering a press frame that could have been five or ten millimeters wider! 😂 That said, I finally realized the HONDA specification for distance clearance was simply another way of establishing pre-load spring tension against that white ceramic wiper part of the seal. Congratulations to HONDA for using this system, or perhaps, designing this system, whomever may have patent or manufacturing rights! Coolant leak successfully stopped! Lastly, much love and appreciative patience persevered during this tedious work. Live, Love, Learn, connect with your ride and be happy. Be safe! ❤️
Hello Eadsie. Thank you for your video ! I trying to replace the seal of a CB1300 water pump. The impeller has the same mounting type, but i canot remove it with your heat/vice tip. Any other way to do it ?
Not tried a cb1300 pump, another way? Not as far as i know, as you have gotten this far, stick at it, a few deauville ones I've repaired have taken a few tries. You have nothing to loose, try again with more heat, invert the pump so the impeller is facing the floor, technically with enough heat it should drop off. Wait for it to cool before installing the new seal. Let me know how you get on.
I will try to heat it with a torch and let you know. But first, do you know if I press the axe from the oil seal end, do it axe comes out with the impeller still fastened to te axe ?
@@eadsierestorations done, but now I have a complete dry situation under this. So I assume that I will have a leaking head gasket if it's completely dry under this??? Or will the polo seal be defective and therefore the engine oil could came in? I had much much oil in the water pump. And the pump was dry of cooling water.
Just tried to get the impelle off; a heatgun clearly did not work.I tried with a blowtorch; no movement. With one of the vins in te vice. The vins of the impeller strarted to bend while using a copper hammer. Totally no movement. Then i tried blowtorch again and teuex to hammer the bearing axel out from the oil side. After a while there was finally movement, and the bearing axle popped out of the housing. After that, i put the bearing axle with the seals and impeller still on it, in the vice, and truex to hammer on the small inside top of thd bearing axle, and after some time it finally came off. Result is a totally useless impeller, bent all over the place, and a totally useless bearing axle, as the cooling warer side shows pitting and wear on the surface: a new seal would only work temporary. So, unfortunately it didn't work for me and I'll order a new pump. Too bad you did not film how you did it.

@@mattthomson3464 thank you
Thank you VERY MATSCH!! from Thessaloniki Greece....
Thank you very much, you saved me hundreds!
That is extremely helpful, thank you a gazillion!
Also, I've got a Transalp 650 with a very squeaky water pump. Do you know what might be causing it? Thanks
Helpful video, thanks. What about the seal at the other end of the shaft, and the bearing the shaft turns in?
Personally I've never heard of the main bearing or oil seal failing. Hope this helps. Best regards
adrian eades OK, thanks for the reply anyway.

Thank you good video, i bought that seal from happy bike in ebay.
Excellent mate
Hi. Can you recommend a silicone gasket sealant for this job? Thanks.
Three bond
@@eadsierestorations sorry for the all the questions. There’s a lot of three bond sealants. Do you which would be best for this?
Very usefull, thank you a lot. I'm in the process of getting the hub of from the body. (heating)
Gently does it, don't clamp the middle of the impeller to tightly

Good morning My friend I am from Brazil, would you know if the Water Pump Cbr1000rr 2004 Honda 19200-mel-000, fits in CBR 954 2003?
No idea my friend sorry
Hello. I ordered all the necessary parts to repair the water pump of my '96 transalp. Do you have an email where I can send you some questions?
monsigna@hotmail.co.uk
@fagouma, did you have success fixing your water pump ?
@@luissilva2905 yes I had. I used a mix of Honda original o-rings and seals and one seal of the japanese company Tourmax.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks for this.
brilliant!thanks so much!!!👍
I've totaled today the water pump for my bike, while trying to extract the impeller.
Buonasera chi mi potrebbe aiutare a capire dove trovare il premistoppa della pompa acqua del Honda Transalp 650 anno 2003
Have a go

truex= tried
Aw man sorry it didn't work. I think I did record it on the deauville restoration videos. Try taking a look. All the best.
It’s a lot better when you’re talking LOL.
