- Sandra Bullock presents the 2009 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy to Colin Farrell for his performance in "In Bruges." Farrell accepts the award and gives a speech thanking all of his family in Ireland, the casting director on the film, director Martin McDonagh, fellow actor and nominee Brendan Gleeson, his two agents, his lawyer, his publicist, and the Hollywood Foreign Press. Other nominees include Brendan Gleeson, Dustin Hoffman, Javier Bardem, and James Franco.

I used to think of Colin Farrell as simply a pretty boy but he's really proven me wrong over the years.
Agreed he did great with turning his life around for the best and it shows in his films.
I have to agree. When push came to shove, Colin manned up for his children and family and became an even more spectacular human being...we all should try that one. God Bless.

I love that he said that that award was at least half Brendan's. Their chemistry was unreal in this movie, and it's not super common to see multiple people from the same movie up for the same award, so it was really nice of Colin to acknowledge how good Brendan was. Top three movies in my opinion

Yeh if you see his speech for Banshees this year at the Golden Globes he is way more confident and less nervous to speak in from of the crowded room. Shows how much he grew as a person in 10+ years!

I couldn't agree more! This is still one of my favourite movies and I think it should have been given way more Oscar nominations than just the best original screenplay, which was completely deserved but Gleeson should have been nominated for an Oscar aswell. Atleast it got some recognition though.

I think I've never seen this before, although I knew he won the award but I didn't watch the speech. I think it was longer speech than they usually are..? But I'm glad it was so long because it was him talking and his speech just rocked!

Never liked this dude before, with his arrogance and bad-boy look with those shaggy eyebrows, until last night when I watched this film. I love his character - he can be such an asshole, but at the same time, deeply fragile. Glad he won. He truly deserved it.
Very late reply but isn't sad how so many people (including you this time) have to judge someone based on good looks? It's the same with other good looking actors who have a masculine face, they have to prove themselves to be cool and friendly, it's absurd. Colin Farrell in particular doesn't even look like an asshole, his eyes really radiate warmth in my opinion.

But you can change being fat; being ugly is the real challenge.
