He is known as one of the most modest, honest, down to Earth and easy to get along guys in Hollywood. Never once have I heard somebody say a bad word after working with him. He is beloved beyond words in and out of Hollywood.

Colin's speech just felt so informal and from his heart, everyone else's were great but they sounded rehearsed and written, it sounded like Colin was just talking about his friend Jeremy

At 8:14 , I love how, when it's announced that Jeff got the Oscar, every other nominee's face sort of lit up and smiled. A truly honest appreciation of one of the finest actors of our time. The Dude abides.

But I suggest you're forgetting the 4th element in this beautiful quadratic equation - Amanda Plummer, playing the inelegant socially awkward misfit, that Parry recognises as his perfect beauty and soul match.
Not an easy part to play and shine, but shine she does.

I love all these actors, but my heart belongs to Jeff. So many wonderful portrayals. I had read that his parents intervened when he got into drugs. I thank them for that, for caring enough to set their son straight, And now look at him. Great career, lovely family. And thank the gods, he survived covid and lymphoma. Still going strong with his latest work, The Old Man.

I just got back from watching a clip of him and Rachael ward in "Against All Odds". The music was perfect and so were the two of them. He is an absolute babe in that movie. I could watch it all day just to see him.

What I really liked is, how other nominees perhaps with the exception of Clooney, were sincere and kind hearted towards Jeff for winning. You could see how Collin Firth and Jeremy Renner were clearly beyond those forced smiles, they seemed genuinely appreciative of the fact that it was Jeff's for being such a great actor all these years. I think what's more commendable is your wholehearted respect for your colleagues than your talent. That deserves admiration!
Well I first expected Colin Firth to take that one home, but since he won the following year for his marvellous work in The King's Speech, I now can totally live with the fact, that the brilliant, lovely and long underappreciated Jeff Bridges took home the trophy in 2010! It would be a shame if the great Jeff Bridges had never got the trophy, if its not for that specific role in Crazy Heart, than for his lifelong work in film bizz! Congrats, Sir! And by the way, what a great way to present an award, by all the presenters + Kate!
Jeff was nominated the next year for "True Grit", but lost to Colin Firth. But I think some people believed that was John Wayne's part. I know my dad did.

Jeff is a beloved member of film community. His work has been admired and he is well respected as a lovely man who has managed to balance his love of family and a profession that he truly enjoys. Hollywood loved this win. As did I.

I saw ''Crazy Heart'' and OMG! I loved it! Jeff Brifge's performance is heartbreaking! In the scene when Jean asks to him to leave her alone, that scene is sad! I totally agree with Michelle Pfeiffer: It is a performance of a lifetime. Congratulations, Jeff!
I love Mr. Bridges acting and his down to earth way. His parents did a great job and he's 1 of a kind. He and his brother are an extension of classic Hollywood.
Also we see Robin Williams in a more calm setting when the camera pans to his, Jeff's, wife. Robin Williams was a wonderful entertainer. He is missed by those, like myself, who were inspired by his rapid fire comedy.
Still moves me to tears. Beautiful speech - which is just a list of people he wants to thank - from the person who is, in my view, the greatest actor of the late 20th/early 21st century. The Dude abides.

Jeff Bridges had tears In his eyes when that lady gave her speech on him (I'm sorry, I don't know her name). To me, that says that his heart Is very big and open. From my perspective at least, he comes across as one of the kindest and most sincere hollywood actors. Beautiful man.

I was a bit disappointed that Morgan Freeman didn't win for "Invictus" (his performance as Nelson Mandala was brilliant), but Jeff's time had come. I loved "Crazy Heart". So did my mum.
I'm so glad Jeff Bridges thanked Stephen Bruton along with T-Bone Burnett. Stephen died of cancer in 2009 and this was the last project on which he was associated. His best friend, T-Bone, brought him out to his home in LA and got him the best care he could and kept Stephen lively and engaged by co-writing music with him for the film. That type of compassion permeates the soundtrack and even the movie itself. Jeff Bridges did a spectacular job as did his co-stars. The soundtrack also won a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Stephen got his posthumously.
I sold merch for every NorCal show Stephen Bruton did from 2002 to his last “Victory Lap” tour. He made it clear that we were friends (not just a fan) when he looked deep into my eyes and said “I love you”. I knew exactly what he meant, I felt the same. Possibly he knew it was the last time we’d meet. Stephen had love in his heart for so many people. He sang songs of redemption and peace. He said he was just a Texas hippie but he was so much more than that. I sure miss him!

Every year there are 2-3 actors who you think can legitimately win this oscar and one who you think is probably gonna win but this one (2010) all five genuinely could have won it. The standard was so good which is why there is so much deliberation in the comments here and in general on who should've won. I say each to their own as any of the five could have won and they would have deserved it but personally I think the academy got it right, Bridges was so, so good in Crazy Heart. He turned what would probably been just an average film into an absolutely fantastic movie and there is no one else who could've played that role.
