  • WYZE Cam consumes 1.3~1.5W and the solar panel can provide about 11W, the excess power gets stored in a power pack. RAVPpower used in my first prototype is geni.us/Wsb4Cwc but the final build is using the recycled power pack from a LED "Solar Flood Light" that also has the solar panel included: geni.us/3MBP8
    This solution is unique because WYZE allows 24 x 7 video recording on to an SD card.
    My review for the RAVPower power bank is • RAVPower 20100mAh USB ...
    WYZE Cam geni.us/7fU6Ef
    WYZE Pan geni.us/MedPe
    USB power meter geni.us/2DEAN
    Other gears I use: www.amazon.com/shop/fastunboxer

    Awesome, I have been looking at doing the same since there is nothing on the marker. I really liked the tester you showed and bought one as it looks easier than trying to use a fluke meter with probes. Thanks for the video.

    I am making something similar this year, 6 units for outside usage. The biggest challenge was finding a power bank that allowed for charging and output at same time.

      Yes. I thought about that place. However the maintain would require a ladder if the battery dies / reboot required.

    Does this work for livestreaming the camera? Does it work with the Wyze pan as well?

    If you are interested in getting more complex, I recommend looking into self hosted IP cameras.

    • @ToolsElectroDIY
      @ToolsElectroDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I checked self hosted IP cameras. They require wiring -- AC power required. The WYZE cam v2 meets the following requirement:
      1) Wireless
      2) 24*7 recording
      3) Low power consumption, can be USB powered from solar panel + battery bank combo
      4) Very compact
      The downside is that it can be stolen out there on my mailbox.
      I should consider improve the design and create a little housing for the camera.

    Can a 20000mah solar battery charger work too?

      if it supports pass-through charging, then yes.

    So that is a indoor v2 mounted outside and is RTSP compatible then?

    • @ToolsElectroDIY
      @ToolsElectroDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is a $25 indoor WYZE v2. I think it supports RTSP as it can be used with tinycam pro on an android tablet for streaming.

      @@ToolsElectroDIY Cool, they just released an 'outdoor' version with battery, but I see outdoor cases are available if water is a concern. Finally, any thoughts on this as a single lower cost power bank solution?

      I will do a follow up video on the battery bank choice. Please stay tuned. The outdoor version probably doesn't support 24*7 recording due to its battery size. That's why I choose the indoor USB powered one.

    Will this work on the new V3 as well? I'm looking to run at least 3 V3 cameras. I want to build a small self contained waterproof unit with the solar panel attached then run the USB cables to each camera.

    So how does your neighbor across the street like being monitored and recorded 24x7x365? Yes Ring Doorbells do same things but not so much in your face and are motion activated. Expect them to call HOA police. Lol. Overall nice setup though, answered a lot of questions for me, and borrowing a piece or two of your ideas. Thx. Ps. Whats your address so I can come by and pick the gear up. Lol 😁👍
