Shorting some of my $TSLA stock to secure profits, but I'm retaining a portion for the long term. Tesla's growth potential remains robust. I'm considering diversifying my 200K stock portfolio, but I'm uncertain about managing risks in my next move.

De-risk your portfolios, shore up your core holdings, and take some profits while balancing your portfolio allocations. I’d also suggest you go with a managed portfolio, but even those don’t perform so well, so it’s best you reach out to a proper fiduciary to guide you, that’s what works for my spouse and I. We've made over 80% capital growth minus dividends.

This is the time to be buying, when FUD - some of which is legitimate - is high and negativity outweighs positivity.
The time to sell or trim is when the stock is at ATHs and even valid negativity is dismissed.
Been in $TSLA since 2018 and it always has and will likely be a wild ride for at least the next few years. But hey, that's where the alpha is.

To some it is an ADAS and there will be a Take Rate (%of car owners who buy it) of peeps who are happy to pay for advanced driving features WITHOUT expecting or having a DRIVERLESS CAR. Institutions value it as a simple feature enhancement - BUT NOT as a driverless car. So when guest SAY FSD , what do they mean : enhanced features OR Driverless Cars . It really requires. CLEAR definition because it has MULTI MEANING . Thanks .

One advantage to announcing the robotaxi unlike a "Model 2" is that there is no Osborne effect risk. They can say on 8/8 that we will have a robotaxi by the end of 2024 or even 2025 and it would have no effect on the sales of existing models. They could not do the same for a "Model 2" without crushing existing model sales. I suspect that Elon has not wanted to produce the Model 2 because he believes so firmly that the robotaxi will make it unnecessary. Also the recent slow down and macro environment has forced him to make hard choices to keep fully funding his top priorities.

I still don't buy the Osborne argument. People who buy $40k performance, semi-luxury cars don't suddenly opt for an economy car. Does a BMW 3 series shopper suddenly choose a Corolla?

Every day, a kid turns driving age they want a Tesla. They’re not moved by politics, religion or what grown-ups think they just want a Tesla just some food. Of thought.

Looks like Elon has already removed AI from Tesla with his new company xAI.

Regarding bots - I agree more companies might be survive, but if 1-3 players can scale production, reduce cost of manufacturing the bots and solve 99% of the needs (in terms of capabilities), those would own the market. It’s very unlikely that in 5+ years you’ll have more than 2-3 players in this field if those 2-3 players can mass produce and bring costs down. Competition would kill the rest

There is a certain hazard to undercutting model 3 with a model 2. Maybe they will just build a model3 with a little more versatility via unboxing, add a key feature like 48v and a better battery,
and then launch essentially a variant of the model3, but just call it a model 2. Until they have 10 billion to spend on the next Gigafactory it makes sense to increase capacity on existing factories, and build Mexico/India/Argentina when the cash is there.

They already stated this at the last conference call. They can easily have 3M capacity at the existing factories.

@@darylfoster7944 Only fan-boys and investors would notice that the next model might be named model 2, but just be a slightly modified model 3.
