Thaaaaaank you! I've been going mad for an hour trying to build a gallery and it wouldn't let me delete only parts of the upper floor. Now I know why :D
I know this is an old video but it's the only one I can find that explains these structures n what not, so if someone can help me with this question I'd really appreciate it: what about friezes? Is it the same problem with the roofs where there's not much you can do? Or is there a way of getting out of it? I appreciate any and all answers, suggestions, etc. 🙏🙏
* * * Hi everyone! I wanted to share a solution to a problem many of you guys are experiencing regarding sims not being able to go up the stairs using this tutorial. * * * It appears that this technique may no longer work due to the recent updates/changes to the game (lots of updates have been made since this tutorial, which is from 2020). * * SOLUTION - Sims not being able to go up the stairs: * * ➜ Step 1) Instead of drawing the fence in front of the top of the stairs after placing your staircase, please place your desired walkway/loft area/landing FIRST, BEFORE placing your stairs. Make sure the fenced area creates a separate "room" (The outline should appear in green as you place the fence). * Do not remove or demolish the other flooring of the area that you'd like to keep open just yet. (Note: This may be tricky as you will need to toggle between floors to adjust the desired placing of your fence/walkway/loft/etc. Additional adjustments may be needed depending on the shape/height of your stairs.) ➜ Step 2) Place your staircase. Since the fenced area is already its own "room," you should be able to place the stairs without any problems. I suggest keeping the MOO cheat OFF to make sure the stairs will be functional. ➜ Step 3) After placing your stairs and confirming it is functional (via play testing in Live mode), go back into build mode and demolish the excess flooring as explained in this tutorial. After doing these steps (April 2021), I have not had any issues with the functionality of cut out staircases. Please let me know if this solution works for you as well! Also--I apologize for not responding to comments right away lately. I have been on a TH-cam hiatus to focus on work but I intend to make an updated tutorial for this building tip ASAP. Until then, thank you for all the love! See you guys soon.
Hey! Thanks so much, this is great. However when I try to end the fence piece above the stairs it automatically deletes the stairs and cuts out part of the fence to make a wall. Can you recommend anything to help? Thank in advance x
Thank you! Just picked the game up again after a few years and have spent the last 30 min trying to remove an upper floor for this. You have solved it for me! I worked out I had to make a room, but it never occured to me to extend the fence in front of the stairs. Worked first go!
Hello! Unfortunately, I personally have not been able to find a way around this issue either besides boxing the roof that pokes inward within a room to close it off (I mention it briefly and show an example of how this happens at 4:55). I recommend trying to keep cut out staircases such as this away from roof pieces to avoid this problem, as the game will not read the cut-out walkway it as an enclosed room. ):
I have an issue where the flooring returns every time I load my lot. I have a similar setup as in the tutorial; my staircase is at the front of the house and it has an open area looking down at the entrance. It's a perfect square room above with an L-shaped staircase joining to another symmetrical square entrance room below it. I click on the room above and remove the flooring and I click on the room below to remove the ceiling. I have also tried just using the sledgehammer to remove the floor. Then I get the wall trim glitch when it comes inside from the outside, so I use the room drawing tool to replace the walls of the upstairs landing to make it an inside room again and the trim disappears. I remove the floor titles again and it all looks fine. However, every time I travel and return to my lot I have to do it all over again because the floor titles reappear upstairs. Is there a solution I am missing?
@@crzycolchris It's actually a relief that someone else is experiencing the same thing. I've looked everywhere but can't find a solution and I'm a new builder so I wasn't sure if I was just making mistakes. It is so annoying I haven't played Sims4 in a couple of weeks. I'm too frustrated that I can't play in the house I built.
Is there a way to remove flooring under the staircase? I am making a 3 level building and the 3rd level has flooring under stairs, I already knew how to cut out flooring like this video says but not delete flooring under stairs
Hi everyone I just wanted to know if there is a way you can place stairs on the first but your camera remain on the second floor? I always see builders do that, you can see the a yellow highlight around the room and you just place your stairs like that. I don’t know if I made it clear, hope someone can help me. Thanxxx
@@navviil3ra it works but it causes a weird glitch when you are in second floor setting looking down into the first floor where everything disappears after an update… I use an “invisible tile” base and build a 1x1 platform and expand it from there so that way you don’t get to see the roof in the room where you want the cut off staircase
Hello! The tool should still work. I would recommend downloading the latest update/patch for the game, as one of the recent updates from a week or two ago created a lot of bugs in game. The latest patch seems to have fixed them all :)
hi! I'm so sorry, I actually made a mistake in the video--the house is listed under the name "Riverstone Suburban" on the Gallery under my ID: CVSEYBUILDS :)
Hello! This could be due to your game's graphic settings (lighting/reflections) or could be due to changes made in recent updates. Sometimes updates will temporarily mess up the visual quality of your game :/
FINALLY!!! Someone who explains this simply and clearly without babbling on and on about nonsense. Thank you!!
I really wish they'd fix the roof issue. That's the only thing I can't figure out how to work around! Great video - thanks!
You are crazy I can’t do it because you won’t show dumb
🎉 thanks
Thank you! I've been searching all over for an explanation as clear as yours!
you're welcome
OMG thanks. i had been trying to figure out how to do this for a week. Thanks for the straightforward and clear tutorial. Appreciate it!!😃
THAAAAAANK YOU. Dear god you have no Idea how long I've been struggling with this.

I never knew I had to put the fence across the stairs! Thank you very much 😉
Thank you! Really useful part for me at 2:55.

The roof was in the way, I’ve done it now lol. Thanks for the video x
Great build! Did you remove this build from your sims gallery page? searching for it's title and filtering by base game yielded no results.

The stairs reminds me of Tony Soprano's stairs
my sims never go up these stairs no matter how i build them

you're welcome! :)
When I double check that my walkway is it’s own room, and I try to delete the floor , it deletes the whole floor within the fence and the walkway SOS
Has it been deleted? I can’t find the hoise
I fixed the roof situation by making a platform instead
can u explain?

Can you see the design from the 1st story I can only see it from the 2nd story when I followed your tutorial
Hello! Originally, yes, you could see the second story at the time that I filmed this tutorial, but this may have changed due to the recent update :(
omg thank you
you're welcome! thanks for watching! :)
ugh - i cant figure out how to add the fence like you did without needing to be attached to an existing wall
I figured it out! yay!
I CANNT FIND YOUR GALLERY ID
When I remove my floor its gets sooo bright as if there’s no ceiling !

when i click remove floor, it deletes the staircase too 😭
Hoowwww do I get rid of a stair its not delting
you can use the sledgehammer tool to delete it or pick up the staircase using the grab tool and selling it!
Too dark
I’ve been doing this forever but the lighting and “rooms” always get fed up
