Tbf I don't think it matters either way. A bad idea is a bad idea even if the author wanted it that way. But I guess I'd personally prefer it if the studio follows the authors preference.
You forgot to mention the Pierrot studio that they were often criticized for the way they adapted the manga into a long series.Which means that many of their popular series had fillers and many episodes with a low level of animation. This was still understandable in the old days when such things were popular, but they did it even with Black Clover at a time when no one made long series anymore, which affected the quality of the anime itself, and don't even get me started on Boruto, where the amount of filler is a joke. However, it seems that this changed when they released Akudama Drive, which was a short anime and it was immediately visible by it's quality.Pierrot probably realized then that making long series no longer make sense and they stopped producing Black Clover and Boruto, and when Bleach came back, it came back as short parts, which made the quality much better. I hope that when they finish Bleach and move on to other series, they will stick to their current plan, which is quality over quantity.
i think this is not much of a critique when you are not behind witht the manga... either you do fillers or you wait the old way of doing stuff is doing fillers, which is terrible, but it's because the old way of consuming anime was on television, same day at the same time. Now that we have access to much more content people are tiered of fillers and would rather wait, because they can just watch something else. It's interesting how technology affected this aspects on another note, idk about the manga but i watched the whole black clover and it was bad not only for its animations and fillers, but because the story most the time doesn't make any sense, characters do stuff just to make the plot progress, there are no complelling characters (they are all kind mid, i dont care about them) and the plot is an unoriginal mix of fairy tales, naruto and bleach but worse
Is the new Bleach anime worth it? I watched the entirety of the first anime but I don't know if I could take another anymore. It had such great moments but it had 10 times more stalling than actual interesting parts.
16:45 I'd like to add that animation studios can also fund their own projects like Demon Slayer with Ufotable, Mob Psycho 100 with Bones and Chainsaw Man with Mappa. This makes it so the studio can control their own schedule and other things as such (I'll answer in replies if anyone asks about the situation with chainsaw man). This tactic however is risky for the studio since if the anime flops, it would only harm the studio while if a production committee funds a project and it flops, the studio won't get as damaged as the ones producing it but they would not have their own deadlines that they can set themselves
It is risky, but tbh, the way the current system is with production committees seems to me like it more often than not really screws over the actual people making the product. It's a safer bet to have these investors, but the catch is the studios barely make money and are forced into awful schedules; it may have been overlooked when production committees first became a thing, but it's becoming more clear that "the catch" is causing more and more issues with overwork in the anime industry.
@@Shallow666 in chainsaw man it was mostly a flop for physical buyers that boycotted the show because of the director while in he west, it was sold a lot more even if it wasn't the intended audience when it comes to sales. This is because the animation producer was the one that was animating Jujutsu Kaisen at the time and the core team barely got out of animating Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Afterwards, they rushed chainsaw man because season 2 of jujutsu kaisen had to come out the summer of 2023 since that was how the production committee scheduled it. In other words, because there was some time in between jjk 0 and jjk season 2, the ceo thought it was a good idea to place chainsaw man in between. I'm actually kinda surprised you didn't include Shin-Ei Animation considering they animate a huge chunk of legendary kid shows, especially adaptions of Fujiko Fujio's mangas. Their works in the Doraemon movies are genuinely some of the best animation I've seen. They utilize thicker, messier lines you don't see a lot nowadays. Their founder also used to work for Toei, which is a running theme for these videos lol
Production I.G. has a great veteran team, the Three Wolves (Hiroyuki Okiura, Tetsuya Nishio, and Kazuchika Kise) are considered the best animation directors and animators of all time.
Honestly, the thing I love most about these videos is how quickly you talk. There's a lot to get through but you're very well spoken and keep up a really good pace.
Doga kobo also got a big boost from the simple fact that yoasobi made the music for the intro for oshi no ko. I mean... when the intro theme for your anime gets 500 millions views online...
I hope you talk about the rising "S-tier" studio, CyGames Pictures. Altho their projects were largely contracted-Kanyasaki Takaomi(director of KonoSuba) directed Priconne s1 and s2, Manabu Okamoto leaving Mushuko Tensei for im@s u149, and Masami Obari(legendary mecha animator) directing Bang Bravern-their recent in house projects UmaMusu RTTT and UmaMusu movie shows what the studio can do.
dang, another fellow kokoro connect enjoyer, to this day, I love that franchise. so sad, that prank destroyed the prospect of the franchise. though, the quality of the anime was still peak for its time.
Production I.G also was the studio that drew the anime sequence in Kill Bill Volume 1! I believe that Tarantino hired them specifically because he loved «Ghost in the shell» and «Blood: the last vampire». So yeah, just thought that’d be cool to mention
P.A. Works is my all time favorite anime studio! I think they have always focused on their writing, specifically with the characters. They make such great drama for those characters and while the overall story may not be the best how they wrote the people involved in the story always makes me look forward to the next series they make.
I thank you for being one more person who explains why the change in the art and design style from Pokémon XY to Pokémon Sun and Moon was not a bad thing nor did it make the animation something "bad", it helped the animators more than it seems and many people at the time did not understand it and every so often they wanted to convince you that it was "badly animated" taking frames in between as an example because they look ugly, when they must precisely "look ugly" for the animation to flow
Finally someone mentioning Baka and Test! It’s a hilarious and way too underrated show. OLM on the other hand made Berserk’s Apocalypse for their employees come into reality.
I would like to give Okada Mari a shout out. She used to be someone who often worked at P.A Works. She made some of the best shows for P.A Works such as Hanasaku Iroha (please watch this!), Maquia (you know this but didn't mention her?), and A lull in the sea.
This is what I'm talking to my fellow weebs that Mushoku Tensei s2 and s3 feels lacking. I'm expecting White Fox to focus their time to Re:Zero than his brother(Mushoku Tensei). ya know what I mean...
Pierrot is lowkey one of the greatest anime studios of all time for making some of my favorite shows (Bleach, Naruto, Black clover, and YYH). Goated studio no debate needed

You should make a part 3 But also you should make a similar series on animators so we can more easily recognize what projects look promising based on staff list.
Fun fact, that hiei episode you clipped from yu yu hakusho was directed by Akiyuki Shinbo. He did 20 or so episodes for that show and theyre very easy to recognize as the cinematography and art direction takes a massive shift
Gochiusa first two seasons were animated by white fox, and then in they switched studios to Production doA for the two OVAs Dear My Sister and Sing For You, and then Encourage Films for the Gochiusa Bloom.
I couldn't watch season 4 of that time I got reincarnated as a slim because of the fact that they had 4 WHOLE EPISODES STRAIGHT OF JUST TALKING. I think it was more actually but I couldn't keep watching it.
Just a note, but CG is generally used as a time-saving measure more than a cost-saving one; heck, it's usually more expensive to use CG, but it's faster and that's what matters in anime production.
9:50 I had a mutual friend who worked at OLM long time ago and he told me that it was so stressful due to overworked. Is not because of how painful it is, is because of how much of the system they trying to dodge the underpaid system and overwork system as much as they can just so they're able overwork the employee with tight deadline while being underpaid. If they can't finish it before working hour, they have to overtime themself without getting paid while not taking care of their employee health. Truly a black company back then. I don't know about now but back then it was tragic for me to hear the story of it. Hopefully they hear them and change the system. Otherwise it is what we called the dark side of japan animation.
Just a note for showing off Konosuba to praise studio DEEN, you actually showed a clip of season 3, which was handled by studio Drive. DEEN only handled the first 2 seasons of Konosuba, funnily enough J.C. Staff actually handled the movie, which looks really damn great.
huge respects to white fox for going out of their way to give light novels a chance. animating re:zero was a huge move, and im honestly so glad they did that because nowadays re:zero is in my top 2 alongside berserk. amazing studio in terms of being faithful to the source material. while they still had to cut quite a lot from re:zero, they absolutely busted their balls and removed as many OPs and EDs as possible just to be able to milk all the content they DID have the space for. legendary.
I grew up with pierrot's nils Holgersson. Made me laugh real hard when i learned that the studio animating black clover also animated one of my biggest childhood memories
Pierrot is actually the goat making 2 anime from big 3 and having healthy environment and the new bleach arc have the best animation i have seen so far
Like Q Kawa, for OLM, Yusuke Oshida is making some great cuts. He's mainly on Pokémon, but if you compare his cuts in Pokémon Horizons with the cuts of other main Pokémon animators such as veteran Masaaki Iwane (58 and still solo KAs his episodes), you can notice the difference. He's worked on a few other animes recently.
hz is literally the peak of anipoke animation i specify anipoke because you have to remember that the game based animations literally have wit studio on them
I think one big factor as to why OLM changed Pokemon's animation style was because of Yo-Kai Watch and its hilarious facial expressions outdoing the Pokemon XY anime in ratings.
Thank you for the studio deep dive! I have to admit, it's pretty depressing how so many of these studios have abusive working conditions for the people who bring us the works we love so much. The production committee model is just so insidious.

Production I.G. has a great veteran team, the Three Wolves (Hiroyuki Okiura, Tetsuya Nishio, and Kazuchika Kise) are considered the best animation directors and animators of all time.
Really? and they are just a bunch of cartoonist and not so realistic
@@joaquinvaleri7022 You post nothing but garbage in these comments.
@@zenmastakilla my comments are not garbage you useless user
man this channel is so great and underrated, keep the good work up!
Not that underrated it's actually growing fast
14:36 This has aged interestingly.
And how about Linkin Park and Korn
I hope you talk about the rising "S-tier" studio, CyGames Pictures. Altho their projects were largely contracted-Kanyasaki Takaomi(director of KonoSuba) directed Priconne s1 and s2, Manabu Okamoto leaving Mushuko Tensei for im@s u149, and Masami Obari(legendary mecha animator) directing Bang Bravern-their recent in house projects UmaMusu RTTT and UmaMusu movie shows what the studio can do.
Silver Link has my respect for animating the GOAT (Mission: Yozakura Family)
21:38 I enjoyed one of their shows when I was a kid, but they lost my respect with that shady behavior.
You threw salt in my freshly-opened wounds with the Mushoku clip you used... It hurts.
Anyway, nice video.
Honestly I think a lot of J.C Staff shows look pretty good.
Yes, people underestimate it
i belive saiki k was the best work of j.c staff, geniunely enjoyed the anime alot.
Yeah
Are You Sure?
Pierrot managing director is the GOAT. Please make a part 3, loved the past two, so informative as well as hilarious.
The lack of animation in way of the house husband just makes it funnier imo
Someone actually mentioned Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night. I cant believe it. ITS SOO GOOD.
8:24 "WITH THIS THREASURE I SUMMON..."
thats exactly what i thought

Bro I Checked the comments the instant i saw his name
Damn, I've been waiting for part 2. My day is blessed.
Studio 4°C and Polygon Pictures
Production IG... Absolutely amazing ❤
These are such simple and watchable videos. Straight to the point and no bs. Subscribed
You forgot about moonlit fantasy and railgun for JC staff. Probably their best looking shows as of now
The executioner and her way to life have good animation too
Danmachi??? Last season was great
Never seen someone so casually recommend Belladonna of Sadness lol incredible film but may have been worthwhile to mention its suggestive material
dang, another fellow kokoro connect enjoyer, to this day, I love that franchise. so sad, that prank destroyed the prospect of the franchise. though, the quality of the anime was still peak for its time.
World God Only Knows was so good. Character songs and every heroine singing the ending was the best. I wish they could've adapted everything
8:35 we aint forgiving you for doing umaru like that
Bro umaru is shit we all know that
Glad you talked about sliver link, no one ever talks about them
The second part is more about your opinions on the studios than information
It didn’t feel like he used more of his opinion I think it’s a great video
I remember David productions having the best sound design I have heard
Bro has satisfied my curiosity 😭❤️ , so grateful you made a second part on this topic🙏
I really appreciate all of the research and lore you delivery to each of these studio explainers. Well done!
Great video. White fox made some of my favorite animes.
Production I.G also was the studio that drew the anime sequence in Kill Bill Volume 1! I believe that Tarantino hired them specifically because he loved «Ghost in the shell» and «Blood: the last vampire». So yeah, just thought that’d be cool to mention
it seems like Makato Shinkai's studio is forgotten
Comix Wave Film
@@alexakuto yes and Anipex and Shochiku (Silent voice), and Volen (pancreas)
@@jiyuhong5853 A Silent Voice is KyoAni, no?

P.A. Works is my all time favorite anime studio! I think they have always focused on their writing, specifically with the characters. They make such great drama for those characters and while the overall story may not be the best how they wrote the people involved in the story always makes me look forward to the next series they make.
We all know that BunnyWalker is the G.O.A.T
I mean you are not wrong, but that’s not for open public
I thank you for being one more person who explains why the change in the art and design style from Pokémon XY to Pokémon Sun and Moon was not a bad thing nor did it make the animation something "bad", it helped the animators more than it seems and many people at the time did not understand it and every so often they wanted to convince you that it was "badly animated" taking frames in between as an example because they look ugly, when they must precisely "look ugly" for the animation to flow
We did it, a part two
5:59 From what I understood, the mangaka of the way of the househusband actually wanted the anime done like that. A good choice for JC lol
I'm expecting White Fox to focus their time to Re:Zero than his brother(Mushoku Tensei). ya know what I mean...
> speaks about J. C. Staff
> Barely talks about Bakuman and Railgun
Now... Do every H studio explained in X minutes, the Council demands it.
JCstaff was in their best during the railgun anime. The animation of that anime is incredible with a perfect balance of hand-drawed and CGI arts.
Pierrot is lowkey one of the greatest anime studios of all time for making some of my favorite shows (Bleach, Naruto, Black clover, and YYH). Goated studio no debate needed
Honestly these videos you make are really nice to see and very informative for new anime fans to easily get into it, big W
8bit ruined blue lock season 2
I don’t understand why they decided to ruin the animation to make it look like a PowerPoint presentation
Mannn watched two of your videos and I'm already loving you, Looking forward to your future videos you're the kind of guy i would love to watch before i go to sleep.
I think the lack of animation in saiki and husband are a charm for them
solid video
I’m convinced your channel is secretly a way to shine light on how the animation industry is so messed up
While some people saw the change of artstyle in the Pokemon series as a downgrade during Sun and Moon, for me it felt completely fresh.
Kokoro connect in my favorites anime of all time. I remember watching the whole show morning to night. I’m happy to find someone else who loves it as well ❤️ and thank you for explaining why I will never get a second season 😭
As a casual viewer of anime, thank you so much for making this video.
Knowing that Q Kawa is only 2 years younger than me(and I JUST turned 27 last week) makes me feel weird
Just a note for showing off Konosuba to praise studio DEEN, you actually showed a clip of season 3, which was handled by studio Drive.
DEEN only handled the first 2 seasons of Konosuba, funnily enough J.C. Staff actually handled the movie, which looks really damn great.
huge respects to white fox for going out of their way to give light novels a chance. animating re:zero was a huge move, and im honestly so glad they did that because nowadays re:zero is in my top 2 alongside berserk. amazing studio in terms of being faithful to the source material. while they still had to cut quite a lot from re:zero, they absolutely busted their balls and removed as many OPs and EDs as possible just to be able to milk all the content they DID have the space for. legendary.
This requires lot of research. Appreciate it!
Another great video! Hope a part 3 comes out
Like Q Kawa, for OLM, Yusuke Oshida is making some great cuts. He's mainly on Pokémon, but if you compare his cuts in Pokémon Horizons with the cuts of other main Pokémon animators such as veteran Masaaki Iwane (58 and still solo KAs his episodes), you can notice the difference. He's worked on a few other animes recently.
hz is literally the peak of anipoke animation
i specify anipoke because you have to remember that the game based animations literally have wit studio on them
Ive been waiting for this video
Great work!
Please make a part 3 I'm really enjoying this so far
Love these videos, so many good recommendations I gotta hop on
I think one big factor as to why OLM changed Pokemon's animation style was because of Yo-Kai Watch and its hilarious facial expressions outdoing the Pokemon XY anime in ratings.
If there's ever a part 3, Lerche Studios is one that I'd like to hear about.
Thank you for the studio deep dive! I have to admit, it's pretty depressing how so many of these studios have abusive working conditions for the people who bring us the works we love so much. The production committee model is just so insidious.
Love it! Would love to see a part 3!
Almost at 10k! 😁 Love these informative videos, so many shows I've added to my watchlist (that I wouldn't have looked up otherwise). Now I just have to find time to watch them all... 🙄
