    Great video 5 Stars.....
    What I also do once the face is polished up after 1000 grit is to run the red scotch lights over it while its spinning to give the "LATHE" effect.
    Also to answer a question previous..........Yes its best to use etch clearcoat, if you don't it will peel after a few months.

      Good question. Prep as normal and then mask off ur diamond cut lip and paint the affected area with the colour of the inserts. Sometimes you have to try and mix by eye if its a none descript colour.

    Silly question are you just going through the stages of sandpaper grits to fine and then polishing it , scotching and re lacquering? Are you scotching the whole wheel before lacquering as if you was doing a painted wheel or are you leaving the painted surface untouched and just lacquering on top of the old clear coat ? Thanks in advance for your help !

    Only problem with this contra turning it in a real diamonccutmachine, like my Doosan AW60-II, is that the rim doesn't turn balanced any more, it must be rebalanced, and not be put directly back on the car.
    Other problem is the clear coat, it should be powder coat that will last forever and not peel of in a few years like hobby clear coat that was not in the owen at 200 degre celsius for half an hour.

    • @cvrpov

  • @Rajjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
    @Rajjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    i thought the diamond cut alloys need to be powder coated and cut on a CNC lath followed by lacquer spray to retain the finish. or else you would see so called white worm (salt deposits between metal and lacquer) and damage the wheel. it costs about 100-140£ over a 2-3 day repair job.

    • @cvrpov
      @cvrpov  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Raj. Even with this (more costly and time consuming) process, the company would still effectively be spraying lacquer onto bare metal? Hence why the wheels corrode from factory.

    • @Rajjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
      @Rajjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      CVR POV I think there is an inherent problem with the diamond cut alloy wheels to start off with. Even a micro stone chips can effectively breach the lacquer bridge and get to bare metal. So even the lath cnc cut is only guaranteed for a 12 month period. So it’s all down to the how much dosh one would want to spend in refurbishment. Generally expensive vehicle owners prefer lath cut. But lath cut has its own down sides, Can’t cut more than twice.
