First, thanks Scott for providing such a good video. I have a J355 2009 yr model and it is showing an OH, follow by three dashes. I replaced the filters, Temperature sensor, circulating pump, and low flow heater pump. Before the replacement of the parts mentioned above, the OH/dashes would show up when the tub reached 25.5 Celsius. After replacing the parts mention above, it reached 32.5, but the OH/dashes showed up again. The heater element showed 240 volts, the replacement is showing 230 volts. Could that caused the problem? I had to cut the wires on the new temperature switch because the connectors didn’t fit the circuit board connectors. I am grateful for any advice you can provide. Very Respectfully, Marco Ruiz
Hey Scott, I replaced my flow switch and circ pump about 3 years ago, using this exact video to guide me. Worked great. Now I’m getting the fl1 code again, I’ll check them both again but just curious what the average life is on both parts

Hi Scott HELP. I am replacing the flow switch on my jacuzzi J355 I see where the wire connector is which is a white plug/ connector, but I am not sure how to get it off the spa controller, can you help?
Oh looked closer and it isn’t the type that is removable. The wires have copper tube like connectors. Do I just need to cut the connector off the new one and replace with the connector that was in the old flow switch? Also big no no (sinceI thought the whole thing was going to come out) I didn’t take a picture so I am not sure where red/ black goes. I don’t want to blow up my whole controller. Help!

Hi, great video it fixed my fl1 issue, thank u so much. Now, pump 2 is working but pump 1 keeps trying to turn on and keeps failing (u can hear the sound of it coming on and clicking off after few seconds) any ideas on how to troubleshoot ?
Could be several things that cause it not to heat. If the heater is 16 year old so is the board and that is a place to look if everything else checks out. Most often no heat is caused by circulation pump ,heat sensor ,flow switch ,clean/new filters. Hope this Helps Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
I have this tub, have the FL-1 code, and I did what you did, replaced the flow switch and heat sensor, the circulating pump seems to be working fine, strong flow. But there is a leak in the wet end of the main pump, and I have had no luck finding a gasket for it. I did replace the shaft seal that was leaking, but the gasket still leaks, but nothing compared to how much was leaking from the shaft. After seeing your video, watching as the pump was trying to push the air out all the while the flow switch was not engaged I started to wonder if the gasket leak is causing air to infiltrate the system constantly, especially while sitting idle, and so at start up I get the FL-1 error. But I have not observed this to be the case. Maybe I am in denial about the circulating pump being fine... There is another issue with the heater staying on even when the light is not illuminated. It will continue to heat well past the set temperature unless I turn off at breaker to reset the tub. Why would the heater be on when it shouldn't be, even when the indicator light shows otherwise?
Great video, thanks. I have a new to me Sundance 2008 Chelsee. I get the FL1 error code only when Pump 2 is turned on. Tub heats up, pumps work fine. Thoughts?
Hi Scott, I have a 2005 Jacuzzi 325. I shorted the contacts on the control board socket for the flow switch as demonstrated, but the FL1 error did not go away. Does this indicate that the control board is bad?
Hi Scott, my comments below. I checked the flow and it cuts in and the circulation pump is working but no heat. All pumps are working. I replaced the heat sensor about 18 months ago. And the pumps were replaced about 3 years ago. It gets 4 days a week use and has been trouble free. It's a 2002 J 335 I believe, like the one in your video. I also replaced the flow switch a while ago and as I say it is working hence the circ pump is running. Just no heat. Could it be a burned out element in the heater? Or relay? Do you have any tips or a video. Many thanks again for a great service to DIY spa lovers.
Sorry...I had to update the Page again..My viewers are buying so many that the supplier couldn't keep up.. here is the link...amzn.to/3cVjUvs. This pump will work on all Jacuzzi 220 volt systems as well as Sundance. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
I shorted it with a screwdriver but exact same behaviour, pump starts for 2-3 secs (almost the time it takes for the flow switch to connect, then stop. I really thought it was the flow switch and before ordering i tried to jumped it but it's the same behaviour, pump will do the exact same 3 seconds start and stop. Do you suggest to try with a new switch and sensor heat anyway? or go for a new pump? or cardboard? please note last year my cable melt in the cardboard. A technician just shortened them and reinstall them, they didn't melt so far but maybe the cardbord is dead? any idea? Thank you :)
Scott, I have a Jacuzzi 335 with the FL1 error code. I have changed out the flow switch and am still getting the FL1 code. I have tried the shortcut where I took the wire off of the panel and use my screwdriver and the FL1 code went off. On the new switch isn’t the “lead” supposed to touch the stem to make the code go off? (sorry I don’t know how to explain it.) I can see there is water flowing through the switch. I’m just not sure that the water pressure is strong enough to make the lead touch a stem. Suggestions? Thanks
The hot tub was working great then I decided to turn it off since nobody have been using it and it sat for a few weeks before turning it back and now I am getting a flo error! I know it’s not the flow switch since it’s not that old. Could it be the circulation pump?
It could be several things especially at this time of the year.. I would give Scott a call in the morning and he can get you going in the right direction. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
My hot tub is flashing FLO. It’s an older Garden Leisure model. Only one side of jets are working. We ordered another pump and replaced it but it didn’t fix the problem. When you push the button on top for Jet 1 it clicks but never comes on. Any idea what it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What would be the problem if when I perform the flow switch test with the screw driver nothing happens? Thank you for your videos, they are very helpful.

I have the J340 with the foot jets. Never had a problem before but now, I’m getting the error message of “WatchDog Mode”. 😕- - - three dots. 😕 First time it’s ever done that. I think it’s because I drained it. Whipped it down then, filled it back up. It’s always worked before. 😫Oh, mine is the LED. I have so many questions. Please help. I just need to know what the heat sensor looks like

@@JavierMunoz-gy9sn I thing that it is your Heater and if it is leaking it will need to be replaced . I used your guide and was able to replace my pmp. The tub no longer flashes the code and heats up, bbut the bubbles wont start. It just clicks and nothing. What else can I do?
So I just replaced my filter on a sundance hot tub. It is flashing fl1 but I can look at the switch and it is together and when the pumps are not running I can still hear the circulation pump run. Would u recommend changing out the q9
when you put in the circulation pump, did you have to warm up the hoses to get them off the old part like you have done on other hoses when you replaced them????.......i am about to replace my heater element on my Jacuzzi J325 and there are about 5 hose connections that have those types of hose connections...thanks...great video as always
To clarify, I'm getting the FL1 error. When jumping the flow switch connection points, the error goes away and the tub starts heating. This means 100% that I need a new circulation pump?
Overall this video was helpful but one important item not covered is the orientation of the flow switch. I replaced all three and still had the F1 error. It was then that I realized I didn’t screw in the flow switch in the right orientation (the paddle switch needs to be in front of the direction of flow)
Thanks for the great instruction on this unit!! Question: I recently diagnosed a bad recirc pump for a Jacuzzi J325 unit. I removed the pump and tested the flow switch. When I restored power to the unit, the FL1 error code came on. I removed the flow switch and manually tested it closing the switch and reading continuity. I noticed that the error code cleared, the heat light came back on, and immediately after that, the GFCI plug used on this unit, tripped. This happened after the 1/4' barb on the C3226-1A heater snapped off and water started leaking out of it. Is it possible that the heater electrical connection box could be shorted out? I appreciate your help.
So if the red light/heat does come on when I touch a screwdriver to the flow switch pins but I’m getting an FL1 error and no red light/heat when the flow switch is attached - does that tell me it’s the flow switch that needs to be replaced? Or the circ pump? I have a Sundance Hamilton 780 btw
Hi Spa man from Chicago, IL, I have a 315J that I changed the recirc pump 6 mos ago and the FL1 went away but would come up when I turned on the breaker for the first time and then when I turned on the jet pump-but it was working fine, ozone was bubbling out, heater kept it warm-it was cold outside (warm in the tub) and I called it done. About 2 mos ago I figured that I would give it another go and I changed the flow switch, and the problem never went away. Today, the temp on the gauge says that the tub temp is 104 while the tub is actually 80-I am going to change the temp sensor, but would that temp sensor throw a FL1 fault? Do I have 2 issues-the temp AND FL1?
Hi, thanks for the video very helpful. However, I could not find the flow switch anywhere around the operating system. Does every hot tub have flow switch? Hot tub turns on for 1-2 mins then turn off, and shows FL1 code
On mine the flow switch is harder to find. It's down near the bottom directly under thr main board (fuse box looking thingy). You pretty much have to stick your head in there to see it on mine.
Hey Spa Man! Great video, got me on the right track. Question: I have to replace the recirculation pump. I noticed it is a 115v pump. I recently reworked my spa to 220. Do I need to get a higher voltage pump? Is that maybe why this one failed? Thank you and keep doing videos!!
Can you call the office and talk to me about this??? I have several questions. I don't want to answer with out knowing a few more details but you really do have my attention. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
I have the Flo error on our J365 tub. I just replaced both filters and have clean water in the tub. No heat because of the flo alarm from the troublleshooting info so far. I do have bubbles coming up from the recirc pump...so I think its working correctly. Can I change out the flow switch without draining the tub? I just refilled it....LOL> I will be going out to try your test by jumping across the leads of the flow switch to check that.
I don't like to change the flow switch with the water in the Tub unless...like you I don't want to drain and start over. So If the tubes on each side of flow switch are Pliable enough to squeeze together ? and your fast you might be able to do it. have a shop vac ready for water just in case ..water makes a mess...use a heat gun to help. If you have a new flow switch just plug it in and use a straw to engage the switch... the heat light should come on within a couple sec if not ...I would replace Cir Pump , Heat sensor , Flow switch... very rarely is it the heater or the board. Quite often the Cir pump is the problem....So if I have to go through the trouble to change one I alway change all three. Hope this helps...Let me know Thanks For watching , Sharing and Subscribing.

@@jessicalittle9517 it does open but its not worth trying to repair it..after years of use they go bad and start to leak..depending on the age of the tub ? when I replace a heater on a jacuzzi because I have it all apart anyway I replace Cir Pump , Heater , Flow switch.. that way that entire system is new.. Ive learned that once the heater goes the others are not far behind. Hope that helps . Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING.
Should I be getting this error on a brand new (> 2 Months) J-345 unit? It heats just fine, and the pumps work. Water level might not be ideal (but not too bad), and filters could use a wash, but also - not disgustingly dirty. The FL-1 code doesn't come on all the time, but rather sporadically.
I have a 2011 Jacuzzi J230 with circulation pump and I can seem to shift my FL1 code. The circulation pump is running all fine. I have changed the flow switch and still have the error. The thing I heard mentioned at the start of the video was the temp switch. I haven’t changed that so process of elimination I think would be to try that. Just wanted to know if anyone had same issues?
Take the filters out first and run it with no filters in it for an hour and see if that makes the code go away (if filters are older the a year replace them) You have a flow issue If the red light is on on the top side most of the time will not be a temp sensor. Check to make sure flow switch was installed correctly Hope tis helped Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

Mr. Spa Guy, I replaced my flow switch and I am still getting a FL 1 code. I tried to touch the two prongs with a screw driver but nothing happened. Does this mean that I have a bad pump or a bad motherboard?

It is new to me and it’s all set up I am thrilled to death when I turn the breaker on, everything works just fine! so it gets up to where I set it 100 degrees but it’s not until after I turn on the jets, dose the red dot turns off and a FL1 single starts to blink, and the heater turns off I noticed there was a jet that was not on so I tried to open it up, and it came out in my hand. I don’t know if that has something to do with it ? Any advice please let me know. thanks Steve thanks for the videos I’ve been very helpful!

@@sheltonswimmer4142 It sounds like you have a weak Cir Pump...How old is the spa and have you ever replaced the Cir Pump ? What if the number on the display panel is changing from 80 to 104 back and forth constantly when you plug in the hot tub and that's the only thing happens. No heating or pumps are working as it is stuck going back and forth between those numbers. I removed the display from the circuit board and plug in, and it was still doing the same thing.

Scott, I've watched several of your videos and am always waiting for you to perform the crtitical step after turning off the breaker/power. Sometimes, I think you are about to do it, and then you just dive in. Scott, as experienced as you clearly are, I'm sure you have gotten zapped plenty of times, like myself. Experience teaches us old timers that the first thing you do when you shut off power to a circuit is to MAKE SURE THERE IS ACTUALLY NO POWER IN THE CIRCUIT. Never trust the cicuit breaker that you hope disengaged. Never trust anything or anybody with power to YOUR circuits. Check the circuit or assembly for power yourself. Take a meter and put it across the incoming primary power. I know many of your listeners probably don't have a meter (DVM) but if you are going to assert that turning off the power is important, isnt it just as important to make sure the power IS off at the circuits you are servicing. Especially if you are working on someone else's tub. They may have wired it ...unconventionally, and you don't see it until it is too late. Maybe you will inspire someone to buy a $10.00 meter on Amazon and it will lead to them using it on everything from hot tubs to light switches and outlets. It may save their life. I have been testing troubleshooting and repairing electromechanical equipment for over four decades and you sounds like you have similar expereince. We have both been zapped enough to know better. Lets help the rest of the folks out there be safe so they don't get discouraged by getting zapped when they could have avoided it. Thanks again for all your videos. I am really enjoying them. We just bought a new spa so I have been browsing the web for as much information and I can learn. Great content! Keep up the good work. From ...Scott, also in Arizona.
I have 2005 Jacuzzi brand and have two error codes 356 and 888 flashing back and forth with a clicking sound. Do you know what these codes mean? Is there a code chart I can look up? Great videos by the way!
It is a Sn2 sensor code. Spa Error Codes: Sn, Sn2, Sn3, EO, E1, Prr With these spa sensor codes, the Temperature Sensor is open or shorted. The temp sensor and the high limit are usually located on the heater housing, with 1-2 small wires coming off and connecting to your controller. With the system powered off, you normally unscrew the sensors from the heater manifold, and unplug the wire from the panel. Inspect the wires for any heat or rodent damage, and the sensor face for corrosion or scaling. However, the usual cause for spa temp sensor error codes is that the water flow is insufficient, and when water moves too slowly through the heater, it doesn't remove the heat fast enough, which triggers all sorts of error codes for flow rate and overheating. HOT, OL, HL, FLO, Sn... Hope this Helps Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

Thoughts?
This video was extremely helpful! Thank you
Hi Scott, I have a 2005 Jacuzzi 325.
Do you have the part# for the circulation pump, i could not find on amazon
Thanks
Replace the flow switch
Replace filters
Hey SpaMan! Can I switch my flow switch for a new one without taking the water out of the jacuzzi? Thanks!
Great video thanks for taking the time. How do you check again if your circulation pump needs replacing?
Depends on what is going on with your Spa ..it will not be working and if its not working no heat and no flow. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
Hi , how to check the circulation pump if it’s working ? Thank you.
What would be the problem if when I perform the flow switch test with the screw driver nothing happens?
Thank you for your videos, they are very helpful.
Did you find the issues i have the same problem.
Also during the humming i can activate pump 1 and the spa heat is working
I have the J340 with the foot jets. Never had a problem before but now, I’m getting the error message of “WatchDog Mode”. 😕- - - three dots. 😕
First time it’s ever done that. I think it’s because I drained it. Whipped it down then, filled it back up. It’s always worked before. 😫Oh, mine is the LED. I have so many questions. Please help. I just need to know what the heat sensor looks like
Hey Scott, what is the black box behind the pack? It's leaking on me.. is it my circulating pump?? Please help!!
Not sure ..
Cir pump is small and about the size of a grape fruit
Ozone is a black box and is sometimes mounted to the side of the pack.
Post a Pic of it
Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING
@@spaman5440 okay so it's not the circ pump, there is a 2" clear tube uniting the pump to the pack and it's that small black box that is leaking...
@@JavierMunoz-gy9sn I thing that it is your Heater and if it is leaking it will need to be replaced . If that is the case its not a really hard fix just take a lot of time and you have to take special attention so you don't break other part while removing the heater . Great information 👍
Do you have a part department?
I'm in Los Angeles California. If you do I rather give you the business.
thank you scott, it helped us a lot.
Thank you ! Very helpful video!
I used your guide and was able to replace my pmp. The tub no longer flashes the code and heats up, bbut the bubbles wont start. It just clicks and nothing. What else can I do?
It sounds like your primary pump is not working. it could be a fuze on the board or the pump.
Only one question when I put the screw driver to both and it dont click, what would be the problem
Did you ever find out?
@@CatsScienceClub no it wasn't mine, and they seemed not to care about it
So I just replaced my filter on a sundance hot tub. It is flashing fl1 but I can look at the switch and it is together and when the pumps are not running I can still hear the circulation pump run. Would u recommend changing out the q9
Also, If I touch the 2 pins together on the flow sensor connection the heat light does come on.
Call me at the shop and Ill try to help you.
when you put in the circulation pump, did you have to warm up the hoses to get them off the old part like you have done on other hoses when you replaced them????.......i am about to replace my heater element on my Jacuzzi J325 and there are about 5 hose connections that have those types of hose connections...thanks...great video as always
Yes I alway heat the hoses on just about every job I do when I take them apart and put them together
Well explained. Thanks! Now, where do I find the correct circulation pump?
To clarify, I'm getting the FL1 error. When jumping the flow switch connection points, the error goes away and the tub starts heating. This means 100% that I need a new circulation pump?
Great question. Did you ever get an answer?
Overall this video was helpful but one important item not covered is the orientation of the flow switch. I replaced all three and still had the F1 error. It was then that I realized I didn’t screw in the flow switch in the right orientation (the paddle switch needs to be in front of the direction of flow)
Im glad you were able to get it figured out. Thanks for Watching A SUBSCRIBING
Where is a good place to order replacement parts for this style hottub😢
I have a Sundance Hamilton 780 btw
did you ever find out?
Hi Scott, how do you get the tub off of rest mode on this particular topside?
@@spaman5440 will do. I’m sure you’re busy, when is the best day / time to get ahold of you?
Hope this helps...Let me know Thanks For watching , Sharing and Subscribing.
with a wine dop and 2 pair hands and a quick handle you don't need to drain the tub....
@@spaman5440 I cant remember if it was this video or another of yours, but thanks for the assistance! I got my hot tub fixed with your vids. The heat gun trick for the hoses worked GREAT too!! Just thought id jump back in here and say Thanks!
How much are those circ pumps?
So turn off the main switch and put a screwdriver to check for light? 🤔
Sorry changing out the flow switch?
I have this exact same hottub and my circuit pump is fine but I have a leak coming from the black box between that pump and the electrical box any suggestions?
Something might be loose or maybe worn out...You have to get back there with a flashlight and see where the water is coming from. For the most part is an easy fix. Thanks for Watching & Subscribing.
@@spaman5440 ok does that housing open? I wasnt sure what it even was
@@jessicalittle9517 it does open but its not worth trying to repair it..after years of use they go bad and start to leak..depending on the age of the tub ? when I replace a heater on a jacuzzi because I have it all apart anyway I replace Cir Pump , Heater , Flow switch.. that way that entire system is new..
Take the filters out first and run it with no filters in it for an hour and see if that makes the code go away (if filters are older the a year replace them)
You have a flow issue If the red light is on on the top side most of the time will not be a temp sensor. Check to make sure flow switch was installed correctly
Hope tis helped

Thank you so much for your step by step video. I just got a jacuzzi brand J335 2006 and would like to know where you bought the flow switch, heat sensor and circulation pump. Thank you
Mr. Spa Guy, I replaced my flow switch and I am still getting a FL 1 code. I tried to touch the two prongs with a screw driver but nothing happened. Does this mean that I have a bad pump or a bad motherboard?
No it does not..we need a little more info to help...You can call the shop and talk to Scott and he can help walk you through it.. Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

Thank you sir
Hello Spaman, Steve from San Diego here, I have a Jacuzzi premium from 2002 .
So I replaced my flow switch, filters, circulation pump, and circuit board still FL1, it will begin to heat up but only heat the tub to 32.7 Celsius then will not get any hotter it is a jucuzzi 335 please help thanks

SPA MAN so I replaced the flow switch still didn’t help still had FL1 flash so I tapped on the pump and the the fl1 went away kinda wondering if I don’t have some trash in system?
@@sheltonswimmer4142 It sounds like you have a weak Cir Pump...How old is the spa and have you ever replaced the Cir Pump ? This is just what we deal with in Az... Thanks for watching & SUBSCRIBING. Keep in touch.
What if the number on the display panel is changing from 80 to 104 back and forth constantly when you plug in the hot tub and that's the only thing happens. No heating or pumps are working as it is stuck going back and forth between those numbers. I removed the display from the circuit board and plug in, and it was still doing the same thing.
what kind of flow switch do i use in my 2005 sundance jacuzzi ..... i did flow test you show here and no click at flow device but plenty of flow .....
I get mine from the factory in Bulk but you can get them from Amazon ..Just type in Jacuzzi 2005 Flow switch and it should come up ...Easy fix..Hope this helps.
Sir my jacuzzi heating light start blinking after 5 to 7 secnds trying to heat but in all not heating why

Did you ever figure this out? Mine is flashing same exact thing..i have 2006 brand
Hi I’m getting a code 5n2
It is a Sn2 sensor code. Spa Error Codes: Sn, Sn2, Sn3, EO, E1, Prr
With these spa sensor codes, the Temperature Sensor is open or shorted.
