I am in Indiana and happened to call Scott (the spa man) when I was trying to reach Tuff Spas. He was amazing and I so appreciated his help. He helped me troubleshoot my problem and I was eventually able to get it working again! I so appreciate his help. He could very easily have not stayed on the phone but he did. Thank you Scott-the Spa Man!!!

Hi Scott! Your content is so helpful! Thank you so much sharing such great advice with us! I've got a specific question, if you don't mind me asking here. Just got a used hot tub. My wife and I are excited to be able to have a bit tub. Very small leak where a 3/4" line is glued into PVC. I'm going to try marine epoxy putty to stop the leak, as it's a very deeply buried hose. But the main question is: what is the third hose on my Sundance flow switch for? It's got an inlet and outlet in 3/4" barbed, but there's also a 3/8" barbed hose coming off it just past the switch. What are these little hoses for? After coming off the flow switch, mine T's. One side attaches just before a jet inlet. The other end wasn't connected to anything, and I can't seem to find a place to connect it! Sorry for the length. Happy holidays!

Great video, thanks! I just got a "free" haha hot tub and I figured it would need some work. I have everything going now but there is no heat, it is sitting at 60 degrees. It feels like the circ pump is moving but no water is moving over the flow switch. Before I replace the pump and flow switch is there another solution? I didn't know if maybe airlocked, the 2 pumps and blower are working correctly. Thanks again for the video, I might have jumped ahead and and changed the heater before this information.

It has a new temp sensor and I used your screwdriver trick to jump the contacts on the flow switch and nothing happens. I can hear the circ pump and main high low pump running strong. Hi! I was wondering if you could help me figure out how to override a hot tub that has a malfunctioning topside control panel. The temp button on my Strong Spa is not responding to touch (the other buttons are working). We have ordered a new control panel, but there is a bit of lag time and we are a small exclusive hotel in the middle of nowhere and I really want the guests to be able to soak. It is stuck at around 82 degrees, everything else is working just fine, except that one dumb button. We have tried flipping the breaker, unplugging the cord to the topside control panel, unplugging the control panel itself and still...nothing.

Hello spa man, thanks for all the videos you share! One question for you, where is the best area to drill a hole for the electrical/liquid tight conduit entering the tub? Some tubs are pre drilled i believe but mine isn’t.. Thanks in advance and more power to your channel!

    • @spaman5440

I place the Hot tub in the spot that I or the customer wants it and then I figure out the best way to run the seal/liquid tight so no one trips over it. Sometimes you will need to take off one of the side panels also so you can make a real clean look and have the line run out the back so its out of sight. When drilling any holes in the side of the tube take the side off first is you know what is behind it so you don't drill into something like a hole or pump/motor.. Hope this Helps. I love how you carefully explain and make great effort to make sure we can see exactly what you are doing. I subscribed. I have a Cal Spa hot tub that will come on and pump will run both speeds but no heat. Also on the control panel it shows 18.88 and never changes. The panel buttons that change temperature settings and modes does nothing. The pump switch and light buttons work normally. It seems like it must have some sort of problem with the panel communication and other than the 18.88 there are no error codes. The book shows codes but says nothing about what the 18.88 might indicate. I thought it could be flow switch or sensor problem or heater gone bad but why would it also not indicate anything on the control panel or change modes? I live in a rural area with no professional options.

How long does a circulation pump generally last? I've replaced all of these before about 4 years ago. That silver bar gets REALLY HOT (hot enough to burn you) when you first turn it on, then the fl1 code comes on. Ive verified the flo sensor works

    • @spaman5440
      @spaman5440  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

How long they will last really depends on how well you maintain your spa.
My spa is way over 10 years and I've replaced nothing but the water every 3 months check chemicals every week clean the filter every other week and I replace my filter once a year.
You have several thing that could be causing your problem
      (1) dirty filter or old filter
      (2) if FL-1 comes on the flow switch does not have enough flow to close the switch. if pump is good then you have something else going on like a block in the line
      (3) if the silver tube is getting really hot to the touch ? again you have low flow or no flow due to a blockage in the system or pump is junk .
Hope this helped Thanks for Watching & SUBSCRIBING

All the jets and the blower work. I think there are 3 pumps. Is it possible to hire you for a video call? First off, love your channel and informative content, thanks! Ok, I have a plug and play that will eventually be hardwired. My issue is, the temperature won't get above 101 and it's set for 104. I should disclose I live in Canada and currently it's between 23 and 30 degrees ambient temperature. Do you think that would be the reason for the struggle to achieve warmer temps? Or should I consider the unit is in need of attention? Any help would be appreciated.

    • @spaman5440

Most often the reasons for this is there in not enough insulation in the unit (Especially around the pump /motor compartment) and it is struggling because of this... I had the same problem several years ago in Showlow Az during the winter time temps in Showlow at the time were also in the 20s and I fixed the problem by adding more insulation. It doesn’t matter which way you plug the wires in on those jacuzzi tubs. They are 3 wire. Sometimes I found a stuck relay where the white side is good but the other side is stuck or not working. If it’s 240v I will plug one wire to the terminal block in a pinch to not have to replace the board. I have even wired a jet pump up like that in a convertible spa wired to 240v when I didn’t have a 115v jet pump. I was just there like a year ago and it’s still working fine. If a flow switch is cloudy it usually had a fl2 error. That’s what happens when they melt is get cloudy

Switch the wires where the high and low speeds hook to the board if you can never get it to clear. Sounds like a little bit of an obstruction somewhere. I have had to do that once or twice w a clog I couldn’t find that the heat ran off the jet pump. You could just need a filter though if you take it out and it heats on low speed

So depending on what part of the world you live in (You need several old , used and New spas to work on)and how fast you can get parts and supplies... then you need several good relationships with dealers and manufactures (warranty work) I like working for AirBnBs and HomeAways. It’s actually really easy on that tub. Especially if you splice the ground on the circ pump, and don’t bother heating the tubing up w the heat gun. If I ever replace a flow switch with no water in the tub I use a worm gear clamp on the left side because that’s the one that likes to leak. I could probably do that repair in 20 minutes or so and jacuzzi’s labor rate is one hour
