Re. Scales and table sizes - the rulesets mentions that you can reduce the movement and shooting ranges by half to play on a smaller table. Another alternative is to use 15mm or even 6mm miniatures, instead of the 28mm miniatures the authors used and reduce all the ranges as needed.
I HAVE A 6 BY 12 FT ....I BOUGHT 4 TABLES THAT FOLD 3 BY 6 FOUR OF THEM.....AND TWO CIGAR BOX 6 BY 12S MATS WORKS GOOD BUT THATS JUST HALF OF WHAT ITS GOING TO BE 6 BY 24
There's no way I could ever afford all these miniature soldiers, but what about Risk pieces? Those are infantry, cavalry and artillery. Could you play this game with those mounted onto strips of cardboard with poster putty or sticky tak?
Can do if you're happy too. I used to use cubes and blocks to try out new rulesets to save me spending money on something that might not be worth it. I learned/started team yankee using 1cm coloured cubes, a measuring stick and a few dozen dice. Check out rice armies and 2mm miniatures too. I used to be able to buy two large forces for less than the price of a rulebook.
Hello "Wargaming in Minature" I have been watching your videos as I'm getting into BP rules. However, I would love it if you could make a video about the point system for BP and designing BP games. I'm finding this information hard to find.
What has me frustrated is I have both the rule book and "Albion truumphant" I can't seem to find a list how many per battalion. I know froim watching this I need one stand of Grenadiers and one stand of lights for a British battalion and two standards but not the number of center companies. please tell me chapter and verse so I can find it.
There is no Requirement for One stand Flank Companies etc. That is Just a Stylized this looks good, remember that the grenadiers were often pulled and grouped separately, What i do is 24man Units, 1 Base if the Command base 1 base is the flankers 4 bases are Center Companies, But you could do up a Whole unit of Center companies or Flankers Will still look correct, FYI Do to size limits and Miniature collection size i Ran a Quatra Bra Scenario at a Convention and All my Standard Units had 4 bases, It's Your Game
No battle , no Black Powder battlefield was even for both sides , forget the points ( is this a warhammer thing ? ) . Use ya noggin ( brain ) and be a smart General . Field what you think and create a victory from impossible odds . I read up on historical battles all the time and they are full of mistakes and impressive actions using imaginative plans
OneofInfinity Exactly. At least he’s letting us know if we don’t have that kind of space, we may want to go in a different scale or direction in gaming. Take the positive from the videos, and appreciate people actually taking time to post them.
This is probably one of the only issues with BP, although apparently halving the distances helps. It's just so weird that a company which is selling a mainstream game (or what they want to be a mainstream game) decided to alienate the vast majority of gamers by expecting everyone to have huge tables and a game room like the Perry Twins do.
I've just started playing BP using 15mm troops. I find using centimetres scales nicely. Last weekend i had over 1200 troops on a 6x3.5ft table and it fit nicely. Units had room to manoeuvre and didn't sit in top of each other (much 😉)

Yes because we all have the space to have a 6 by 8 board in our house...
Instead of thanking him to take the time and effort to explain rules, you come here to complain that *U* don't have the space 🤦♂️

There's always 15mm, 10mm, or my personal favorite 6mm. This will reduce unit footprint and allow for a much smaller surface.
