I'm really enjoying these my story driven pieces like Making Frankenstein's ̶M̶o̶n̶s̶t̶e̶r̶ Lamp, rather than the more 'talk at the camera' videos like This Floating Shelf Turns into a Desk. I also enjoy I made a table with a galaxy inside. My favorite ones include unique idea from old frying pan In case you were wondering this block of text is for SEO so you really don't need to read this. But yeah, got to mention my other stuff like create, four eyes, homemade modern, so my videos end up in the related section. OK BYE

This is my favorite method for ebonizing oak! How long do you let the last coat of ink dry for before applying water based poly? I've waited over a day before and I STILL get black residue on my brushes when applying the first coat of poly.

0:11 Winter is coming? Try -8 Degrees C with -16 Degrees C windchill. Snowfall warning (total amounts 20-30 cm). If I had a porch to step out onto, I'd need a shovel and 30 minutes to find it! :-(
A simple, yet elegant project. I love the India ink idea. It really gives the piece a unique look and still allows the grain of the red oak to be seen.
Have you ever tried the Craftsman-era finish of ammonia fuming for oak? I'm curious as to how you would do it (and live!)
    4:37 Squirrel!
Love the music. Satie is a perfect, relaxing soundtrack to this build and Kevin MacLeod captures the feel of Satie with his piece.

    • @A.Mere.Creator

I would say a hardwood like white oak. There is a reason the best and longest lasting wooden ships were made of white oak. Take that and apply some solid joinery, like in Japanese carpentry. The Japanese carpenters are nutritious for making whole building last hundreds of years without using a single nail.

I love the music you have playing during this. It's nice and pleasant with no annoying bass. I found a Titebond glue spreader on clearance that works well for spreading glue. Wash it off in warm water and its ready to use again. Also, since I can't seem to get the damn glue to come out of the regular cap (even after cleaning it) I take the cap off and pour a little just on the silicone bristles.
Kitty!!! Such a pretty kitty! The squirrel was cute too.
Another suggestion on securing the cable is to use the pop thingy from a soda can and screw or nail it in place so it can be removed easily if you need to adjust or remove the cable for any reason. If they are long enough, those metal brackets that go on the back of a computer chassis to cover empty slots can also be used underneath the USB port thing to secure it better.
