I had a similar problem a few days ago. But mine was from me installing a new graphics card and since I used the VGA output on my old one and my new one didn't, I ordered a VGA to display port adapter. And my monitor would lose signal booting into windows after BIOS.

I was facing the same issue, PC power on but it's just couldn't post. It turns out the motherboard is faulty and I had to sent it back to the seller to fix it and It was my first time building my own PC. Now I finally can use after they send me the brand new motherboard. Great video as always!

I've done similar to ones I know are not that tech savvy, and will put stickers to all the ports saying attach monitor here, keyboard/mouse here, etc.. I’ve put neatly cut black tape on ports I don’t want people to use. They tend to resort to eyeing the whole back of the case and find other matching ports rather than peeling :)
A quick start guide also works. If you are in the business, it doesn't take that long to make a guide that shows how to plug in the power and connect your monitor.
@@Mopantsu No, you don't. You can explicitly choose which files you want to delete and the cleanup utility doesn't delete any personal files anyways (besides the content of the recycling bin if you want).
I know a man that used to own a public gaming shop, where people paid to game on his computers. I sat down in front one of his computers and noticed that it was very slow. Upon inspection he had about 5% of the hard drive free and it was heavily fragmented. I told him that 15% of the drive should be free just to defrag it. And that is why it took so long to defrag your computer, as you know. In the past I have reiterated, time and again, that people should regularly defrag their hard drives because Microsoft Windows throws data all over the drive and frequent defragmenting takes very little time, whereas waiting 2 years takes much longer to defrag. Another great video, thank you.
Hey, just letting you know this video saved my ass. Armored Core launches tonight and my pc wouldn't connect to my replacement monitor after my primary detonated. Thank you.
Just wanted to say thank you. You inspired me to do part hunt and flip pc's in my local city. The market is incredible specially after you gave some TLC to second hand parts.

Nice to see that you still help out your old costumers ... I once had a system that had stability issues and after eventually replacing everything it turned out it was the mainboard that had issues However after 3 RMA’s it still had the same issues and the store where I bought it gave me a full refund to get a replacement board ... got myself the R4BE and never had those issues again 😁
Literally had this problem last week. The guys (who built my pc) tried to find out what's wrong with my PC and not gonna lie, I remembered one of your vids about bent pin on mobo and told them that and turned out there's actually a bent pin! They apologized, got me a new mobo and now everything's fine. Putting my TechYES luvin' knowledge to good use lol.

I've had a datavac for years and it's ROI has been huge. More uses outside of a pc as well, great for detailing engine bays as well and getting hard to reach areas cleaned out.
I would have put the non-LED fan replacement into the middle slot between the tower fins and placed the middle LED fan on the outside. Also, I've heard that using a leaf blower can clean the inside of the case/PC quite well. Sadly, some dust can cake on components and isn't easily removed.
Hello Tech yes city, I have bought a pc from you about a year ago the first one u gave me didn’t work so u gave me a different one, works fine but I realized my pc only took USB microphones and headsets, everything that wasn’t a USB wasn’t recognized, can u please tell me what to buy or do to fix this problem.
I used to have that exact problem on my previous PC I build 4 years ago. Re-attaching the RAM sticks make it work real good afterwards. This problem happens all of the time after doing some maintenance. Also older ASUS Motherboards won't boot because of putting "too much" thermal paste due to its sensor for pressure requirements of the CPU Heatsink applied. This took me a while to figure it out but thankfully it was a common problem in some older forums that I was able to track it down.
I've had someone send back a PC with this exact problem (no signal, PC not turning on). It turned out to be a bad CMOS battery. The thing is, if you removed the motherboard battery and reset the mobo, the PC would boot fine with the bad battery. That is until you remove power from the PC (which happens when you go to give the customer their PC back!). I noticed this at my workbench and managed to fix the issue before sending it back. PC works like a charm now. I've also learned that you have to be careful with temps. I had a 2700K getting 60c after a 4 hour stress test OC'd to 4.2 GHz but at the customer's house they were getting 80c+. I rarely overclock builds any more as it's just too hard to predict what kind of environment the PC is going into.

Swi Noob A power supply and some of the other components in a computer have capacitors. These store electricity for a short time even after the PC has been unplugged. By holding the power button for a few seconds, it drains those capacitors.
When taking out bios battery ( returns bios to original settings) should disconnect power from wall then press on button to ensure all power drained from system. Sometimes when unplugged if you turn on computer may show brief moment of charge!
6:49 defrag doesn't hurt or help an ssd, in most cases it will just do nothing at all. on an ssd it might just readdress, but i think they stopped doing that ages ago, these day they just ignore it and report no fragmentation. and while it can help with an hdd, windows does it automatically since vista (even xp tried to) so fragmentation is unlikely to be a problem on a consumer desktop with a mechanical hdd.
Brian, what happens if we activate one of those Windows keys on an old PC and then upgrade later to a new one. Can we still use the same CD key and transfer it to the new system? Cheers
What sort of cost for labor, troubleshooting time and services for this client. You went above and beyond. Did you do any additional services like scan for malware?
I can back up the recommendation of the DataVac made at the end of this video. I am exactly as described, the kind of PC user that my family tend to ask or help, as well as owning 4 gaming PC's that my family uses daily. The Data Vac is brilliant, cleaning out dust in a fraction of the time that cans of compressed air take.
I do the occasional computer repair gig. The last simple "repair" I did was a misdiagnosed faulty motherboard. Turned out that a full time "technician" claimed the motherboard was dead while, all it had wrong with it was the power supply unit. I guess since the pc was an "old" ddr2 lenovo desktop, the technician did not want to invest time in truly diagnosing the issue and just recommended the client to buy something more recent.
you can get a replacement fan from the manufacture of the cooler for a few usd/ gbp / aud charge for diagnostics and labor. or if unavailable replace cooler all together. best to find alternative fan
Thanks for your video. I wish that was all that was wrong with my gaming rig, found out my MSI 970a-g43 was dead. About time for a new setup anyway When windows is that slow or in that kind of a mess I just back everything up and format the disk and throw on a clean windows install.
Is it bad to combine ssd and hdd? Games are installed on both ssd and hdd. The games installed on hdd sometimes do something like frame skip when loading new areas/textures. Is it because of the failing hdd or just the hardware (ryzen 2600, rx 570, 16gb 2666mhz ram)?
Stuff like this is why I love Linux as you can choose to create a swap partition on your boot SSD/HDD, during install, and not have to worry about not having the space for swap files, and no CD Key needed. But regardless yes even a 120GB SSD for the boot drive is a must for any OS, just be smart about your space.
What's the best way to fix Mechanical Keyboard's Chattering Problem (aka keys registering 2-3 times despite pressing it once)? It does get annoying and searching on TH-cam have been mixed lately.

Did you accidentally combine 2 separate videos?
I have had some complex and simple problems over the years. The first desktop I had supported an old steamroller CPU. The switch to Windows 10 killed the sata controller on that cheap old board, forcing me to upgrade my platform. Recently, I had a 5 year old power supply of mine start to die. I had been running that power supply for quite some time, and it started faltering occasionally when my system was running at full blast or even sometimes my system wouldn't have booted. I deduced from the behaviors exhibited that something relating to the motherboard power was the issue, as when my system would be running at full blast my computer would cut to a blank screen and then I would see the POST screen as if my computer just restarted. I tested with a spare known good PSU to confirm that this was the issue, and because I had a spare I was able to keep running my PC until a new one arrived. In a side note, my spare PSU is a huge Antec PSU that doesn't fit in my case so I had wires splayed out everywhere on my desk. I took pictures to show my friends and jokingly stated that my PC was on life support.
I didn't see you clone the existing drive to the SSD......did you just slap in the ssd as a logical drive? Or did you install a fresh copy of Win10 to the SSD?
A problem I've been running into a lot on lga 1150 sockets with big tower coolers is the slightest bump from moving the PC or a cat running into or what have you and the thing wont post or if it does post, it has a dead memory channel. Pull the cooler, re-seat the cpu, put it all back together and they come back to life.
I was using PSU cable extensions on my RTX 2070s and my PC would turn off every time I ran a game I was super bummed because I tried everything from new ram and even a new MOBO until I got mad I took off all the PSU extensions plugged everything in and ran heaven for 4hours and who knew the PC worked like a charm no issues at all to this day I’m happy with it and I even got a 120mhz oc on the GPU definitely learned my lesson but a happy ending. Love the channel keep up the great content 👍

Love your content mate, keep it going. It's amazing to see your channel grow bigger and bigger :D
Dont you set fixed page file size? I personally do it short after initial setup and forget about it
How did you port the os onto the ssd from the hdd, or did you just format the hdd and do a new windows install
Really great video thanks yes tec city! I love building PC's, I'm building 2 systems at the moment 😃
Tips like these are very useful, I don't think I'm ever going to stop building PC's now but will have 3 systems soon so may try and sell one.
Love your content brian!
Today is my birthday
H birthday bro
Happy birthday bro!

can someone explain what is he doing? "drain remaining power"...how it works? thank you!
Sometimes when unplugged if you turn on computer may show brief moment of charge!
thank you guys ;)
Discharging power.
I guess since the pc was an "old" ddr2 lenovo desktop, the technician did not want to invest time in truly diagnosing the issue and just recommended the client to buy something more recent.
could you break down your process of how you got the OS to the SSD?
you can get a replacement fan from the manufacture of the cooler for a few usd/ gbp / aud
charge for diagnostics and labor. or if unavailable replace cooler all together. best to find alternative fan
Great to watch ..thanks!
Would like to see more hands on pc repairs vids 😀👍
You got to be kidding, the person couldn't done the same thing you did. So many videos out there that could help.
What case would you recommend for around $50-80? I currently have a Thermaltake v200 and it's a shite case.
Thanks for your video.
I wish that was all that was wrong with my gaming rig, found out my MSI 970a-g43 was dead. About time for a new setup anyway When windows is that slow or in that kind of a mess I just back everything up and format the disk and throw on a clean windows install.
When does the TechYes OST get released? You have about 6 tracks now lol.
Really enjoyed watching this problem solving video, good content.
can you link the dust blower u are using pls
Will the graphics cards fans lifespan be lower if I add a more agressive fan curve with Msi Afterburner?
Reseating memories, help me to fixing 'NO SIGNAL" PC, thank you. :)
Hey how do you drain your power after taking out the lil battery?
2 years later - you sir are too nice - but i respect it.
this was the bloody system that triggered my x58 fascination. btw have you been watching witcher series Bryan? the music and accent says so.
Hey Brian, what's that monitor you're using?
Tech YES City Medieval theme... yes!
I have spoken.
2:32 shows America megatrends bios boot screen. 4:23 and 4:43 no activate windows in corner before Defrag.. 7:24 and 7:34 shows activate windows on corner After defrag before ssd. 8:54 says Asus bios boot screen after SSD install? 9:21 no activate windows in corner.
I want that Cougar Case. It's simple, sleek, and it has an optical drive bay.
Out of habit I always scan disk before doing defrag. Don't know if it really matters.
This is bringing back bad memories of my ibm full tower. Thing was so fast until I filled up the 120gb hdd. And storage used to be so expensive.
