      Same, was at dealer yesterday and they said the only way was with a scanner to a computer. Fucking assholes #gladstonemitsubishi in Portland Oregon. I have done my fair share of brake jobs and they tried to take me for 600 for rear brakes and said it was 2 hours per side.

    Just wanted to thank you for this video and for some of the comments as well. I just did my ex's rear pads and rotors and this was pretty much like doing my Honda Civic with the e-Brake. Worked perfectly and no problems when testing after. I believe i used a T-30 bit that worked perfectly to wind the motor back, and then was able to compress the piston using a standard hand compressor from harbor freight. Just don't forget to plug the e-Brake motor connector back in before you put the wheel on, like i almost did! 😂

    I found this works fast. I unplugged the electrical connector running to the brake solenoid. Then used a two wire alligator clip jumper from a small 12v alarm battery and backed out the actuator. You will know immediately the correct polarity as the motor will turn in or out when you touch the lead to the connection contact. It was a one minute work around. This method works on most electronic rear brake solenoid actuators.

    • @idigbebop

      @@nofsgiven3855 you need two jumpers each end with alligator clips and a small 12v battery. The jumpers can be fabricated from 16 gage wire or lamp cord. It doesn't pull any amperage. Run time is a a sec or two. A simple 12v test probe also works - one end to a battery positive side. The brake solenoid wire connector will have two pin contacts. The motor is DC. One pin side actuates, the other retracts the brake worm screw assy. All cars with electric park brakes have a normally closed/brake on position when you put the car in park. The brake EMU also monitors the brake position when the car is parked every few seconds to ensure it is actuated to on/brake position. So, monitor and keep the car battery charged. There is always a load on a modern car battery when parked between brakes sys, door locks, sat radio, theft sys. It is a suite of sensors that is always on and monitoring.

      @@idigbebopdo I need to put the car in “service mode” or anything special to retract the electronic parking brake on this Mitsubishi?
      The reason I ask is because I’ve done this on a Lexis before and of course I have a parking brake, not available warning now.

    • @idigbebop
      @idigbebop 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Answer, no. Keep in mind you are isolating the rear park brake motor from vehicle side internal power when you de-mate the connecter. Service mode is used when you actuate the brake using vehicle internal power from within a OBD car code scanner/controller. A pro auto shop would have this setup. It's faster for them this way on a touch screen tablet. If this feels intimidating to do, knowing experience levels differ, then maybe it's best to let a pro shop service this brake task.

    I did my 22 outlanders about a year ago and went thru hell only to find out you have to set the suv to service mode before starting the job. You can set the outlander to service mode yourself manually. After that everything is pretty normal.

    Do you have to take press the handbrake off first and then do the job? Or doesn’t matter if you leave it on and then seperate the motor from caliper.

    I have a 2019 outlander with EPB. Does this process cause an EPB error code? I hear many encountering an error code after different methods like yours, then there's the method to apply a 12v source to the contacts to rewind, then there's the method of putting it into service mode by pushing the EPB button 10 times, brakes, etc, THEN theres using a scan tool to go into service mode.

    • @lakesautomotivediagnostics6509
      @lakesautomotivediagnostics6509  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have used this method on mini mics and models. Never got a error code before if you have a different way to do yours like putting it into maintenance mode. That is definitely what you need to do.
