like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, th-cam.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....
I can't recommend Shane Whatley's TH-cam channel enough for all things Homekit. Excellent channel with great information if you are serious about setting up your home with homekit.
GO BROWNIES!!! I’ve watched your videos for years. And never knew you were in north east , oh. Moved out here 5 years ago and love it. Keep up the good work
That looks like my friends old place in fort Collins Co lol. They would have mice get down in that window area and couldn’t get out. When I was there I stuck a board down in there so they could climb out lol.
My entire house is completely Luton Caseta and Serena Shades. I have some Hue bulbs for ambience purposes too. I have the hub and expander on another floor tied to an apple tv. Siri controls everything by voice and homekit handles my automation and scenes. Shades are stupid expensive..... I have 8' sized windows in a few places so regular shades just weren't reasonable to deal with. Set this up 3 years ago and I don't think I could ever go back now.
Was wondering the same thing. Does it automatically makes a cup when your alarm goes off for exemple? I’m not sure why the vacuum and the coffee machine was on the list.
go to around 8:50 in the video and he says here are two bonus items that ARE NOT Homekit or smart-home items at all just some great tech items that he loves, the vacuum which just basically has a laser to show dirt the naked eye cant see by itself and then the Terra Kaffe. Hope this helped you out.
Are use all the same products you featured except the espresso machine. I was excited when you said you were about to talk about an espresso machine because I am in the market to replace mine as well. I’m currently using a very old Breville. I would like an automatic and the one you’re using is very aesthetically pleasing, however that milk bottle on the side looks quite odd. I would love to know more about how convenient this is. Any chance you’ll do a full review?
Great choices, thanks for the review. I have Lutron Caséta dimmers and switches throughout my residence, and they’re great at basic lighting. I’d love for Lutron to provide more flexibility, such as gradual dimming. I also have Dyson products and they’re wonderfully designed, but so far don’t natively support HomeKit, hopefully that will come when/if Dyson signs on for Matter compatibility.
I would kill for the ability for my Caseta switches to just remember their previous brightness setting when you press the ON button… or at least let me change the brightness before turning on the light so I’m not blinded every morning
Just wondering how homekit accessories works and controlled from outside network. Understood that if we use third party apps to control devices from outside, it uses its own cloud server to send the command to network hub and hub will send the command to that device. But how it works in homekit? Is it using our icloud or is it using apple cloud for IoT or by any other means?
So you need a HomeKit hub eg; Apple TV, iPad, or HomePod, and then it uses an encrypted communication method from say for example, your iPhone which you have taken to work, and then this goes via the aforementioned hub, which then controls your devices within the network. So no Apple cloud.
Thanks for great ideas. Any idea if there are HomeKit compatible products for the European or British wall switches? The holes in the walls are round and the walls are usually made of bricks or concrete. Thank you
This video was very educational. I have to admit I am not well versed with any HomeKit accessories None of these are actually something I would purchase except for maybe the Sonos Beam but not at $500 🤦🏾♂️
Ooooh that fan is fab! I’m trying to find a HomeKit switch like the Plum Lightpad. I own one, but the app no longer works so I need to replace it. I don’t want to give up the LED bezel light or the fact that it’s a tap switch vs rocker. Really tempted to see if I can just put the “guts” from a cheap brand into the Plum hardware, but I bet that’s above my skill level.
I own two of those fans and let me tell you… the app is horrendous and the connection gets lost often making you reinstall the fans. Everything on the “smart” side is very dumb and confusing.
Does your Sonos Beam 2 get audio from an Apple TV4k? I get a loud pop and then an Apple TV and Beam restart when I’m watching some Dolby Atmos content from Apple TV.
That Vacuum!! I literally just bought one from Dysons website but never saw that one. I have 2 pugs so you can imagine the amount of hair in my house! 😆 Thanks!
With Thread and it's (hopefully) impending adoption, I foresee LIFX having to make the choice of maintaining just a WiFI-enabled bulb (and losing market share) or adding a Thread-enabled bulb to the lineup (and paying the $20K for Thread cert). I bought ~$1200 worth of the LIFX BR30's for my house earlier this year (Prime Day deal) but also upgraded the WiFi to the Eero Pro 6 because I know the traffic is going to get bogged. Most of us who have problems with WiFi-based smart devices can attribute that to weak routers. Beginners in the realm will be (mostly) ok with the ISP-provided AIO modem/router units but as you start increasing accessory count, you have to upgrade your network to be able to handle all the traffic - something a lot of people don't realize and / or can't easily afford.
Hey just a warning but your address is visible in the video. Don't know if you care or not but thought I'd give you the heads up in case it was accidental.
Eight AA batteries? And for this price they don't even include rechargeable lithium pack that even Chinese toys offer these days with almost no price increase. Absolutely ridiculous!

I’ve had my tv connected with HomeKit for almost a year now and just remembered I can use my voice to turn it on and off lol thanks for the video.
Never use my voice but having my “Goodnight” scene turn off my tv is bliss
I like this change. Really good video
Also a house tour would be cool.
Dude that vacuum is on my list now!!!
It’s very expensive but I really do think it’s well worth the price. It makes you want to vacuum lol and you’ll end up using it A LOT!
That looks like my friends old place in fort Collins Co lol. They would have mice get down in that window area and couldn’t get out. When I was there I stuck a board down in there so they could climb out lol.

Serena shades r probs my fav HomeKit compatible thing in my home
Your basement!!! Have you lowered the floor and made the windows larger?
Hi! Why you have stoped clock at 17.15?
I must know where you got the Halo mug at 10:28 !
'a fortune' is not a math outcome 🤣
Do you need newer TV with certain features to use the new Sonos sound bar or would it be able to work and provide features with older TV
Where did you get the frame with the iPhone in it? The one that has the phone broken down. I love that!
Grid Studio, they have a bunch of different phones that you can choose from, and they’re all torn apart like the one in the video
You got me excited about the Terra Kaffe but it doesn't appear to have any smart-home, especially homekit connectivity. Did I miss something?!
Was wondering the same thing. Does it automatically makes a cup when your alarm goes off for exemple? I’m not sure why the vacuum and the coffee machine was on the list.

Somebody needs to make a coffee machine that makes coffee when your alarm gets snoozed! 😅
I explained it right before the vacuum but they were bonus items I just really liked and wanted to share

Honourable mention to the Breville Barista Pro for an alternative mid level espresso machine for those who want a bit more control over their coffee.
This video was very educational. I have to admit I am not well versed with any HomeKit accessories None of these are actually something I would purchase except for maybe the Sonos Beam but not at $500 🤦🏾♂️
Thank you for this great #gift guide for tech ppl.

Works perfectly fine here. No issues
Laser vacuum would be great for broken glass or like sand omg. I’m always holding my flashlight on the ground lol
Is that 3 way switch remote reliable? Amazon reviews look very poor for the product
That Vacuum!! I literally just bought one from Dysons website but never saw that one. I have 2 pugs so you can imagine the amount of hair in my house! 😆 Thanks!
8:00 loooove delta sleep.
Love my terra kaffe too
Why is the clock behind you always showing 5:45?
Rip clock. Time of death 5:45
@@macrumors ah ok, non it’s clear 😉
Yeap, Espresso what I am going for. Double or even triple 😎
i can use this home accessories to use my akg type c headset beacuse it doesnt work at first that i plug it in it
Your wifi would not be "bogged" down because of Philips Hue Lights because they are working over ZigBee and not WiFi
Was thinking more LIFX with that comment than hue but should have clarified.
With Thread and it's (hopefully) impending adoption, I foresee LIFX having to make the choice of maintaining just a WiFI-enabled bulb (and losing market share) or adding a Thread-enabled bulb to the lineup (and paying the $20K for Thread cert).

I like this list, but the shade is NOT HomeKit enabled. It's using a bridge hub, which for me, is a 100% no go.
I travel in my rv and would like a travel friendly 12v HomeKit setup lights cameras and shades maybe even more
Are there any nice looking smoke/CO2 detectors that are HomeKit enabled?
The one one worth considering is the First Alert OneLink.
Netatmo
Hi DAN!!!!
Your wifi won't be bogged down by lots of philips hue bulbs, because it uses zigbee (maybe you were thinking of Lifx?).
I’m so tempted to buy a HomePod Mini since it is thread enabled. Then I can go buy some nanoleaf bulbs. 😂
Do it. Best thing I ever did lmao
Dog hair is the story of my life, five dogs in my home 😅
Mysa thermostat are the best, you should review them
Youngstown Ohio in the house ! Go browns !
Hey just a warning but your address is visible in the video. Don't know if you care or not but thought I'd give you the heads up in case it was accidental.
The amount of Philips Hue accessories has literally nothing to do with your WiFi.
Other bulbs like LIFX do and that was meant to be said but kinda got jumbled there
@ 2:20 Don’t wanna show off your Tesla? 🤣
2:40 that is a bit shady
You should remove your Autumn foliage from the top of your soundbar. Its gimping your speakers by a lot
Those shades need to be cheaper. Ikea needs to offer custom sizes for their shades.
I see everyone duck tape lasers to their vacuums!
That’s a cost effective alternative for sure lol
I absolutely know why you said “I probably wouldn’t” list the things you didn’t like 🤦🏾♂️👌🏾
Nice
Eight AA batteries? And for this price they don't even include rechargeable lithium pack that even Chinese toys offer these days with almost no price increase. Absolutely ridiculous!
1100$ for a shade? ….. I’ll get up off my kiester and roll it down myself
My thoughts exactly lol… and if anyone want to pay me 1100 to roll their shades i will roll that thing with bare hands if needed lol
“Best HomeKit accessories”
**puts a Nest Cam which is not natively supported by HomeKit in the thumbnail**
brah way too much info re: your hairy floors otherwise I LOVE your content! Thank you from a long time fan.
There's alot I love about Apple. But, homekit is a joke since there's no way to use homekit devices with Android devices.
Fine if you live in the USA. Otherwise, an utterly useless video as is Apple's HomeKit in Japan. Complete dead loss.
