Hi Matt , The judder under load is a common sign the torque converter is on its way out . For a good quick fix "disco" owners use a tube of "Dr tranny" lube poured in through a pipe in engine bay next to radiator. This will give you a few years without any trouble . Usually do a full Mega flush of gearbox as well first. All the lights on dash can be something as simple as a bad battery or The steering angle sensor needs resetting. air suspension light is usually the desicant drier beads in the air compressor are "wet" a service kit for the "Hitachi" type drier costs very little and comes with new filters and seals plus in some cases a new metal drier cap as the old caps can form a hairline crack between air connectors. If you take out fuse 26 situated in battery box (yellow) and leave car to sit overnight after taking measurement of wheel height from centre of hub to the wheel arch on each corner . If it has an air leak it will show which corner or part of vehicle where the problem is . Hope my rambling helps either yourself or others . Landrover owners are usually "good ramblers" lol . Great video. would be good to see a follow up. Thanks.

Show the old girl some love.
Full service, new tyres and brake pads, if the juddering isn’t resolved by the service then get the injectors cleaned and balanced. Carbon clean the engine, check condition of the EGR and DPF. She’ll live forever 🙌🏼 - there’s some optimism for you 😆 love these mini fixer upper series you do.

Yeah, clean the air sensors as well with the carbon clean, you'll be amazed, I got 31.7mpg in mine after doing that. No DPF in this 2005 model, just 2 EGR ( blank them ) :) - great year for the engine, EURO 3 in EU, best injectors on this model - I sold mine with at 236k miles, with the breaking pads light on, with the airbag light on, with parking brake light on, suspension lights ( on an off ) - but the engine was running great, gearbox, everything. 4100 EUR I got for it :)

Exact colour and spec as my own 54 plate. They do have a good look in that spec.
Mine only has a mere 204k miles on it.
Blank the egrs but leave the pipework in place. Good service, mine only gets Castrol Magnatec and sounds sweet for its age. Then “Italian tune up” time.
Glow plugs need specialist care to get out..
Hand brake will likely need stripped, cleaned up and adjusted correctly.
That seat split on the drivers base is standard. New foam was £37 and I got mine fixed at a trimmers for £80.
Absolutely fantastic cars, but reassuringly expensive to keep in top fettle.
Owned mine 9 years and I’ll never part with it.

But will need a box and torque converter at some point. Could also be rear prop. Handbrake will probably just need adjusting as long as the shoes are free etc. My glove box handle has done the exact same thing as this one haha mines also silver and a 54 plate done well over 200k! Late to the party here!
I had a 2005 D3, which we ran for 225,000 miles before it started to show signs of dying. Sold it for £1650, then found that it had been bought for £2,000 by a LR breaker, who made a good return on it judging by the vultures flocking for all the parts! (I'm very glad that so much of it was reused / recycled).
Aircon was a bit of a running cost. Kept going wrong, as did the infotainment.
Wiring for the elect park brake went wrong a couple of times - took a while to diagnose.
A good local independent LR specialist is worth its weight in gold.
Your HSE looks a little odd - it has the base spec 17" alloys.

Bit of a wannabe. Being ex-forces myself, The Regiment pride itself on discretion and having a great big sticker on the front windscreen tells me that they were never anywhere near the SAS.

Seems like a bargain. My mate bought a Disco3 3.2 V8 petrol recently, for 6k on an 06 plate. It was the same colour too. But it had half the mileage of yours.
However, he did have to by a new compressor for the suspension, and has upgraded the front grille, and all the exterior lights to Disco4 lights, new body coloured mirrors, arch extensions, and rear door trim. He also had a bit of spray painting done, but it was pretty much rust free, and it came with two full sets of wheels and tyres.
So altogether in total, he's spent about £8k to get it sorted, but what a lovely car.
I would say there is profit to be made on yours, providing its not completely rotten. You might get £3.5k for it, maybe more with the right buyer.

You bought it for a fiver, get it safe and rolling and run and drive it for a year. Then let’s see what it “costs” to run a £500 Land Rover for a year. You’ll no doubt prove all of the Land Rover naysayers WRONG yet again 😎

I’m guessing, if you dump £3 grand into it, drive a year and sell it for £3 grand you’ve pretty much had a free car minus fuel and oil. Maybe do an update when it’s sorted, then an update at 3,6,9 and finally 12 months. The people who buy these cars from new aren't looking to sell in 3yrs. They drive them in to the ground, then drop it on some poor unsuspecting LR fanatic. The LR fanatic then spends the money getting it roadworthy again and will never get their money back. Then they have to keep it. Don't get me wrong, this is a stunning bargain for 500 quid, but don't think it hasn't been sold for 500 for a reason. Maybe many reasons. I would say this was happening a lot in the early days of the discovery 3.

Love my 06 LR3/disco 3 v6 ford explorer motor. Picked it up for about 10k CAD and the thing is a beast off road. Even with it's age it out performs my old jeep and f150 on the trails. Needed good 4x4 tires and rims, 3inch johnson rods, and a lot of work such as heater core, ac, spark plugs, ignition switch, tire rod, crank shaft sensor, new battery and alternator but all in all it hasn't let me down in the bush once aside from a voltage issue after running it hard in -10 with ice and rough roads requiring a boost and nursing it home at 30km/hr for 200km! Electrical is the most frustrating part of the ride but for the price it's a perfect off roader for me that chews through anything! I still have my recovery gear that I haven't had to use either as it hasn't let me down! Recommend a self booster pack, spare fuses and the usual recovery gear as electrical is the trickiest part with this one.
