Im a beginner dhalsim player hard stuck in diamond 3-4. What does a perfect parry get you on sim? I usually would just go for a grab but every once in awhile an opponent is able to tech the throw or even beat me with a jab even though i got the PP. I guess I don't understand what the mechanic gives you in general
Frame advantage after a perfect parry is dependent on what you parry. It lets you act immediately without experiencing hit or block stun. If the opponent is teching your grab (5f startup) after a perfect parry, it means they are recovering from their attack within those 5f. Realistically, the only time this happens off a jumpin because there are almost no moves in the game that only have 5f or recovery or less. The jumpin isnt that low recovery either, but the recovery gets cancelled by landing. If you perfect parry a shallow jumpin, the grab should still work. The large perfect parry freeze lets you assess. If its a shallow jumpin, a grab or lp is guaranteed. If its super deep like on a safejumo, you just have to treat it like you are +2 in their face. As a simple rule of thumb, if you parry. Jab or a jumpin, go for grab. If you parry anything else, you can probably get a heavy button. Most od the time, your best punish is heavy button xx DI since the damage scaling on PP is really high so youd rather just take their drive bar. In sims case, i do 3HP xx DI. Of course if they are low health you can full cash out and kill them, sure. But usually the right thing is 3HP xx DI to attack drive meter or a backthrow to put them in corner.

Usually Sim b+MK is a fast enough and far reaching normal to punish after PP, even for jabs.
If someone is grabbing you after you pp them that's nuts I've have people parry my jabs and I can't do nothing about it
