The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

God hear my prayers. Since covid the last three years I’ve been struggling. Through my struggles I found Jesus he has carried me this far. So even as I struggle to support my children and myself I trust in you Jesus. Being a single mom things can be hard raising them alone. My husband is with God I miss him dearly. Both of my children are autistic. I started homeschooling them last year and they are now thriving. I also suffered a heart attack two years ago so I’m getting healthier everyday. As I struggle to pay my rent each month and as I struggle to buy groceries. I know God will make a way. Where there seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see. I have faith! God has not forgotten me. Faith First! ❤

Child of God, I'm very tired and I'm using a voice recorder, so forgive me. If this is not record as well as it sometimes should but does not. Please know you are not alone. This is actually a very common thing today. Very common, but as long as you understand that. Christ knows everything about you, including your pain and your suffering all of your sorrows but also all of your good things Ander Joyce. He knows your needs, your wants your cries. Your laughs he is with you.
Even though God knows everything he definitely still always wants to hear your please. Your prayers, your praise, the glory that you offer him. But also your Christ for help, he never wants to stop hearing from you. You're one of his children and he loves you.
What is truly a biblical understanding of the time of trouble is starting to ramp up, it is real it's not fake, so the real end times are starting k, the birthpangs will get closer and closer and harsher and harsher, so this is a time Faith that definitely continue to be built. Definitely trust in the Lord. Jesus Christ always know you can always count on him. Your road may be very Bumpy at times but he will take you through it. Just like the fiery furnace for Daniel. Good job on giving your life to him. Continue to give your life to him submit every day. God bless you and all that you're going through. And your journey and trust me. I from personal experience do understand.

One thing I've begun to appreciate as I've watched this ministry grow is how well Cliff and Stuart really model Christ, not just in their teachings and demeanor, but also in the strong father and son bond they share and how as a family, the Knechtle's are are pointing people to truth, winning souls and having an impact for the Kingdom.

This was an amazing video! When he touched on insincere faith, it really answered one of my most recent, big questions. To me, I believe I wasn't actually saved untill three weeks ago. As a kid growing up in churches and hearing about "giving your life to Christ" and baptisms, I just knew it was the "right" thing to do, I didn't realize what it meant. My belief has always been there and it's been sincere belief, but not sincere FAITH. As a kid (6-7 years old), you don't know what giving up fleshly desires TAKES because you don't even know what the fleshly desires ARE and how powerful they are. I just recently reached a point in my life where I could feel God tugging at my conscience as I was living in the sin and every day I would ask myself, "if I got in a bad car accident and died, would I go to heaven?" and I would think, "no, but the chances of that happening are very low" just to justify my sin. I was shameful, broken, unhappy, and fleeing from God. After sinning against my mind, heart, and soul, there was only one more aspect to question, where is my strength coming from?? I chased pleasures of this world and my void was still empty, there was temporary satisfaction, but then the void just got bigger, it was fun in the moment, but there was always shame after. I was acting out of my own strength and will, I was trying to control everything in my life, I was selfish and only wanted power, but I couldn't play God any longer, it was too much for me to handle, I was overcome by my flesh and demonic oppression for 7 years, it was time to change.
This is how I came running home to the Father; I tried finding my identity in things of this world and it didn't work. It's not sustainable. I realized that without the Love God showed me by coming to earth in human form to die for all my sins, past, present, and future, I would be nothing. I wouldn't have Love, I wouldn't have Joy, I wouldn't have Peace, etc., I wouldn't have any fruit of the Spirit without an understanding for who I'm morally accountable to. I decided instead of filling my mind with perverted images and perspectives on what a woman's value is, I wanted to be cleansed and become a man of God, I want to treat God's daughter with the same unfailing Love, Grace, and patience God has shown me. I was tired of shame, guilt, and filthiness. And above finding a relationship with a Godly woman, I wanted to chase after Jesus.
You will always lose the battle with satan, you will lose to your deceitful heart and fleshly desires every time if you try to fight in your own power , but winning the battle isn't fighting it, it's fleeing from it and running to God with your thoughts, temptations, and mistakes. How can God fight your battles if you're still trying to be the general? God will never lose a battle, but YOU will.
Now I'm not perfect, never will be, never can be, but I have been liberated by the righteousness that I can obtain through my relationship with Jesus Christ. I still struggle with pride (moral highground arrogance, thinking I am better than other people because "at least I don't do THAT sin"), intrusive thoughts (however, now I know they are not of God, but of my flesh, so I run to Him and flee from acting out on those sinful thoughts), selfishness (I lose my patience with coworkers, but I need to show them love, patience, and grace because sometimes I discredit the fact that they are humans too and have feelings and struggles in their own lives), and many others I can't think of right now, but I know there's WAYYYYYY more than three🤣🤣.
These last three weeks of abiding in God and putting my full faith in Him have been the best three weeks of my life, there's many more to come. God truly renewed my mind, cleansed me, and transformed my life by the power of His Holy Spirit.
Thank you Cliffe and Stuart for also pointing me to Truth and solidifying my beliefs in my search for God!
thanks fot the question!@@Theo_SkeptomaiI would personally say that sincere faith is relying on God for everything, not living out of fear, not believing the only reason you are trusting God is because you fear hell, or that God will provide for you even if you're practicing lawlessness. This is not to say that you can't sin as a follower of Christ, but you should be fleeing from it as much as possible and running to Jesus. This also isn't to say that anyone who believes different than I do ISN'T saved, this is just what I believe about my faith journey and how I have lived my life individually.
My methodology is to cast my worldly desires at His feet and run to Him constantly, picking up my cross daily. My relationship with God should be never-ceasing, God isn't some genie in the sky who gives me everything I want and I can do whatever I want without consequences. You don't want to only call on God in your struggles like a distant friend, you want to walk along side Him and praise Him in every aspect of your life every day! I can run my own way and stray out from under God's hand of protection, but I've tried that and had to deal with the consequences, I don't ever want to leave His will for me now. And also, I'm not legalistic about "everything you do has to be what God wants" because sometimes we don't know the answers and God calls us all to not be lazy and just take action and trust Him through the process. Our actions should reflect the character of Jesus as much as possible and we should strive to do what God deems as good. "Good" in terms of works, actions, and what God describes it as is all things uplifting to God, others, then ourselves. If an action is bad, it will harm others, ourselves, or our relationship with God, so we should try our best to rely on God to fill us with His Holy Spirit so that we can Love as God Loved and treat others as Jesus treated them!

@@Theo_Skeptomai I appreciate the comment and I respect this viewpoint. Now I don't want to make any assumptions about the way you live your life, but by your comment it seems like your standard of living a fulfilling life is what you feel is good and what culture deems as good, your values may be based on emotions and feelings. I do think this is reasonable as from the perspective of being human, that we have power over our own lives to find meaning and fulfillment in many aspects of this gift of life we have (and that we aren't just robots who don't have feelings and emotional intelligence). You have control over your own decisions and values, but I personally think there is a lapse in these values. I think that our hearts are naturally corrupt and deceitful, we're prone to being selfish and hurtful to other humans because often times it would benefit us, and we like that. Without God, there is no Love and there is no reason to love, we wouldn't have any moral standard without a spiritual conscience, which is the way of determining right from wrong.
I think one of the many reasons I rely on God for everything is that He gives me guidance of how to Love others and He makes me morally accountable to His standard (knowing I will fail tens of thousands of times because His standard is perfection, but helping me up everytime I fall on the path He has for me and making me "perfect" by the blood of Jesus [or perfected in His eyes, in other words]). I also want to have everlasting Hope for this life and eternally. I don't believe the earth is the end, I think there is life after death because nothingness physically cannot exist.
At some point in life you might lose control over events or go through tremendous pain in your life and realize that you can't do it alone anymore, this feeling of emptiness, powerlessness, and brokenness is only repairable by putting your whole faith in God through Jesus' sacrifice and example and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Now obviously you're saying you don't necessarily put your faith in God, but you don't seem to also deny the possibility of His existence which is a great stance to be at.

I clicked on the stream to listen, as i often do, while i did housework. i heard Cliff make a brilliant point and i wanted to rewind something for clarity. Lo and behold it was Stuart talking! i can barely tell the difference without a very close listen anymore. i hope we have many more generations of this voice for our coming generations to hear as well!
When god created. He created plants, animals. Humans.. etc.. god is outside of time so when he creates he can create without limitations of time. He didn’t create seeds. That are going to grow into plants. He created plants, trees, grass.. etc.. he created Man not a baby. And animals and so on. So he created earth that has an age to it. To me this is so amazing and perfect of how god creates things with just speaking.

Jesus confirmed that Jonah lived and was swallowed by a fish. Jesus said just as Jonah spent 3 days and nights in the depths of the sea so shall the son a man be 3 days and nights in the heart of the earth. So the answer is Jonah was real.

He 100% could have been referring to the story that way. Jesus spoke in metaphors all the time. I personally think Jonah was literally in a whale, but that doesn’t matter tbh. The point of the story is the message, not the literacy of how it happened.

Jonah was really swallowed by a giant fish, not a whale. Research to find out why it could not have been a whale. But yes, it really did happen. The Bible is mostly recorded fact with some metaphor, but mostly reported facts.

Great commentary on Luther's view of James. This is one of the most crucial aspects missing in the emphasis of Lutheran theology: I know because I was raised Lutheran Church MO Synod from birth to about age 45 when I started attending an Assemblies of God church.
I can understand why Luther had so many problems with James: he was reacting to the overemphasis on works from medieval Roman Catholicism, so naturally he wanted as little to do with that as possible. But Luther unfortunately did the proverbial "threw the baby out with the bathwater." Christian do have works... not for salvation, but for personal growth and sanctification, and also publicly as a witness to the world. As Cliff says, if I say, "I follow Christ", but there is no evidence of it in my life, then how does that build up the body of the church and how does that testify to the unbelieving world? Faith and Works go hand in hand: again, not for salvation--that comes to us by grace through faith alone--but I have an impossible task standing before almighty God and accepting his gifts and at the same time refusing to obey his commands. These are the one to whom Jesus will say on the Last Day, "For I was hungry, and you didn't feed me, I was thirsty, and you gave me nothing to drink....depart from me into the lake of fire prepared for the Devil and his angels." These are the Goats, in other words.
However, works can also be deceptive if done for the wrong reason. Jesus shows this in his dialogue with the Pharisees, and we see it today in people who outwardly make a big show of piety. These are the ones who will say on the last day, "Lord, didn't we do miracles in your name and cast out demons?" and Jesus will respond, "Away from me evildoers; I never knew you." Their works were done to earn the praise of men or out of obligation or just out of following tradition, not out of a heartfelt desire to serve Christ and grow the kingdom.
In summary, what James was saying is, you can't say you have faith but then refuse to live the life Christ has called you to live. The faith will produce the works, period. No works = no faith. Maybe some will still pay lip service to Christ, but they do it for other reasons and not faith, hope, and trust in him.
May we who believe and trust in Christ abound in good works! - 2 Corinthians 9:8
so how much works are required in order to know you have faith?
@@BrockJamesStory there is no set level of works to prove faith. To imply this is legalism. What I'm saying here is that if a person says, "I follow Christ" but then stubbornly refuses to do anything that shows the life to which Christ has called him, we would be correct to suspect that person is only paying lip service. At the very least, we could call that person to repentance. If the stubborn refusal continued, we would be right to put that person out of fellowship with the church, as St. Paul teaches us to do with public, unrepentant sinners.

The thief on the cross had only one piece of evidence: asking Christ to remember him demonstrated that he had faith. That was more than sufficient: simply acknowledging that he needed Jesus to be his Savior. That was the grace that came to him by faith. He confessed Jesus as Lord ("Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom"), which as the Scripture teaches is evidence of salvation.

One point about the Jonah story: Jesus, who is totally truthful and reliable, referred to Jonah as an historical figure and prophet.

Not to mention how we have evidence of the meteor that killed the dinosaurs, or at least that they existed, but not a flood. My assumption is maybe verbal accounts passed down from when the glacier ice melted from the time of the ice age. But that’s just me, I’ve not seen anyone say it before. But what is true from that though is when the ice melted, that water did carry many bodies (like animal bodies) and move them- perhaps mixed them up. I think it was Michigan or some place where a bunch of “fossils” were found together (mixed up). And I say it like that because I don’t know if ice age creatures like Megaloceros would be considered fossil or bone; I don’t care to distinguish.
There is archeological evidence and history that proves that the bible is true so I trust every word from the good book

The big fish which took Jonah in was called Sheol, which is the Hebrew word for the Greek..... Hades. Jonah died and went to hell for been disobedient. If Jonah was a sign to prove Jesus, then Jonah had to die to prove that Jesus died.

I already hate the word "literally", so this episode is going to be tough for me.
not understanding literary styles is one reason why some stay agnostic. when i was young i was very skeptical and agnostic. once i heard someone say they followed the bible “literally” as in, there are no analogies or metaphors. i thought that was rediculous and it drove me farther into agnosticism. i didn’t realize at the time that this person was very ignorant, lazy and incorrect. noone ever gave me a bible or took me to church while growing up so my past confusion makes sense in hindsight.

I suggest NIV :) it is a pretty nondenominational widely accepted by all version and it’s pretty easy to understand but not lowered down like ESV and stuff. Find a good church and see what they read also see what the different versions MEAN :)

I am a believer in Jesus Christ and love him dearly, and I have a dream which is to retire my parents have my own wife and children, take them all on and experience with them beautiful memories and holidays and to help people in need and spread the gospel, I have prayed to god many times about this dream and still do but I worry so very much and fear that I won’t be able to do this dream due to the fact I keep seeing a lot on the internet about Jesus return or the rapture and it worry’s me so much I won’t be able to do my live out my dream and I have asked Jesus to please grant me the ability to live out my dream. The Bible holds a geneology...that can be built into a time line.
That is the one thing came to my mind when I was watching, e.g. we know Adam lived for 930 years, then if we trace back we can trace back to the 6th day of creation(?)
The Bible does give the genealogy from Adam to Jesus along with the ages of those in each generation, using that information, the calculation is straightforward to determine the number of years from Adam to Jesus is approximately 4000 years. So the Bible doesn’t directly state the age of earth, but it goes further by giving clear, unambiguous information to determine the age of the earth. Cliffe is wrong on this answer.

Genesis 5:2, "Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created."
Jesus us tell us us in Matthew 19:4: "And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,"
If Jesus claimed Adam and Eve were the beginning, all we have to do is add up the dates...it takes some work...but it can be done...
Genesis 5:5, “And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.”
Adam lived 930 years...and died.
Genesis 5:3, “And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:”
Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born.

Years ago I did the math and if memory serves I came up with 6,128 years old. Now, I don’t think we can be that dogmatic… but clearly the Bible teaches the earth is about 6,000 years old…a stark difference from what “science”says the earth is 4.7 billion years old or whatever number they are saying today.
For the most part science and the Bible are not in conflict. Evolution is not science it is a belief.
However, if science and the Bible were ever in conflict, I trust the Bible (God’s Word) , everytime.
The Bible doesn’t tell the age of the earth specifically but it does have the genealogy from Adam to Jesus and tells how long they lived and you can add it up.
If Jonah spent 3 days and 3 nights in the depths of the sea would the being eaten by a giant fish be a humanistic metaphor to get the story across ? If we know god has the power to bring life from the dead couldnt Jonah have drowned and died for 3 days and 3 nights?

Loving the Father is receiving all Jesus said to us and to do so without changing his word in any way or agreeing with things of the world (e.g., claiming Jesus Is God and blaspheming the Father). We only listen to the words of Jesus, not by picking random versus to prove Jesus is God.
Christians can be hypocrites...because people are human...make mistakes and are sinful. We struggle and grow...just like everyone else.
Yes indeed. We strive and fail and succeed and fail and succeed but by continuing to strive God comes to our aid and helps us to become dead to sin. For many it’s a life times work. 1) Some-thing can only come into existence out of a state of no-thing. Otherwise some-thing couldn’t be anything else than every-thing. The state of no-thing on the other hand has the potential to manifest every-thing. Therefore, some-thing and no-thing are of equal value. Most spermatozoa are destined for the drain and only one amongst the million losses viable. We are living in one of the universes viable for life, probably amongst many failed or disabled universes; hence the absolutely not miraculous fine tuning of our cosmic surroundings. We’re lucky and we are translating our luck, a very common human characteristic, into pride, prejudice and the preposterous idea that a super being is overseeing each of us and sad or happy depending on the position of our hands above or below the sheets.
3) So, the absolute beginning from the very first universe must have started from a very fine tilting point in a state where there was no difference between some- and no-thing. 4) if an all powerful god existed, why in the name of the one no one should believe in, would that being make the billion of years detour instead of just creating a made and ready universe? Unless you reject the fact, no, no longer the theory, but the fact of evolution. If that’s the case, then you are worshipping a god created or accepted out of pure and maybe even wilful ignorance.
5) if god existed there would be no need to prove his existence because he / she / it would be perceived or at the very least be experienced by believers and non believers alike and since that’s clearly not the case it’s safe to say that god(s) are man made and not the other way around. That’s also why there are approximately, at present, 4.300 religions with matching super bff to suit different cultures, regions and tribes.

Nobody knows the age of the universe and there is no known means of determining that empirically. It is why the naturalists (those who believe as you do) have changed the supposed age of the universe by billions of years over the past 200 years.

You said in the beginning that the Bible doesn't say how old the Earth is not an exact number down to the year but if you did read the Bible as much as you say you've read it you would know that the genealogy starts when Adam and Eve are in the garden obviously the sixth day Adam is made shortly after Eve is made and then the genealogy starts so clearly it's not millions of years billions of years it's thousands of years. I'm happy that you're doing the work that you do bring the gospel to people opening up their eyes is fantastic the only thing that I would say is that maybe get into more Bible than philosophy I know that's how you connect with those students but never listen to you off and on for quite a while and I think you're lacking a lot when it comes to scripture that is really part of the evidence which is God's word. The problem here is the sixth day of creation isn't necessarily the sixth calendar day as you and I perceive it now...there is no attestation to how much time passed between creation days, we only assume such because we now count time in means of days...
There is nothing about the genealogies that specific how old the Earth is. Genesis 1:1. "In the beginning, God made the Heaven and the Earth." The first day doesn't occur until Genesis 1:3. A worthwhile question would be, "How much time elapsed between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:3? We don't know.
It is also possible that the genealogies were incomplete. We already have two different accounts, showing that different authors had different viewpoints about who was important to include. How many generations were skipped? We don't know for sure. But we do know from other historical documents that often important people who has their genealogies recorded would skip generations that were not particularly noteworthy so as to emphasize more prominent figures.
How long were Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden? Bible doesn't say. Could have been billions of years.

I just want to push back a little bit on what Cliff said about the age of the earth.
You can reference genealogies and historical accounts in the Bible, particularly from Genesis, Exodus, 1 Chronicles, and Luke, to estimate the Earth's age. When you take those into account you'll find the age of the Earth to be around 4,000 to 10,000 years by tracing the lineages from Adam to Jesus and accounting for the time spans between significant events.
To say that the Bible says nothing specifically about the age of the Earth is directly true, but indirectly it says enough to get a general picture of the age of the Earth. Enough to suggest its in the ballpark of "thousands" of years vs "billions" most certainly.
I agree but I think this is an area we can differ in The Bible. I believe it is less than 10,000 years old. But I know other Christians that think it is older.
There are areas we can debate such as age of the earth. There are also things that cannot be debated such as salvation, the trinity, reserection, Virginia birth and others.
Its not just that they were willing to die for what they knew to be true, but to die for a truth despite knowing their deaths would be horrible, slow and painful. after all your talking about an age before the electric chair, before guns, before lethal injections. people who were executed were often killed in horrible public ways so the authorities could control the population through fear. If you look at the stories of the people who were executed or were almost executed in the bible it involved things like burning, stoning, being nailed to a cross, being skinned alive or thrown to wild animals to be eaten alive etc. I doubt that anyone would be willing to stick to a lie with the threat of that kind of an end hanging over them. would there be some people who would renounce the truth to save their skins? sure but when more people then not are willing to stick to the story despite that type of an end I'd say it is more likely to be true. and when the number of people who die for that story ranks up into hundreds of thousands possibly millions then... what can you say.
Hello everyone. Just a question. I would like someone to clarify something. So in the Bible it says Jesus Christ is god, however it also says that god gave his only son to forgive our sins. I would like to know if that means Jesus and god are separate, or if Jesus is god. Is it like the father the son and the Holy Spirit are one and he separated a part of himself to become flesh so he may forgive our sins? I’m a catholic who would like to know what happened.
It’s a good question. I come from a Catholic background too but no offence intended but now I’m a Bible believing follower of Jesus Christ. It’s not easy wrapping our minds around the deity of Christ. It might actually be a never ending understanding. When Jesus says to eat His flesh and drink His blood He is referring to the nourishment we obtain when we think about who He actually is. He is God who came here to be with us. In Isaiah 9:6 He is called MIGHTY GOD AND THE EVERLASTING FATHER. When Jesus was here 2000 years ago He was God who became a man. But now that He is back in heaven He is fully God again. It’s an interesting subject isn’t it.
The whole Holy trinity thing is a head scratcher, it's one of many reasons I left the faith.
Clearly Lucifer and his turncoat rebels who no longer wanted to be ruled by the laws of God,somehow believing they were justified in their rebellion, certainly didn’t want to leave heaven.
They wanted to stay.
They fought to stay.
But when they finally displayed their inability to be persuaded, and return to unquestioning obedience to God’s laws, the resulting fight in heaven, had the holy angels prevailing and casting them out.
And in a way there is a mirror image of this happening here on earth with those unbelievers who want to debate with us.
But as the holy angels said enough is enough and threw them out, so too do we do the same.
My mother who was a pious devout Catholic spending much of her time in prayer, was not knowledgeable in Scripture.
When I explained to her that the following scripture was about Jesus, and that He was undeniably God, she said surely not.

On our journey of understanding who Jesus really was and is, we realise from the scriptures that God in the form of the son of God, has always existed.
And the angels haven’t always existed, but Jesus in the form that He will be in when He returns to earth, to gather us up, is the Lord God , the son of God, who has always existed.
And as we puzzle over and contemplate what Jesus really is, and must be, pertaining to His Godhead status, then more and more of this mystery is unravelled.
And as the knowledge of God is a never ending understanding, because the properties of God are in the realm of the infinite, so too will our understanding of the son of God be.
And as we are yet to know how God created all things, assuming we are to know it, however we accept that it was His creation because it is before us for all the world to see.
And likewise it’s the same with the Son of God.
We will never cease, as we go through eternity, to know more and more, what God is in the form of the son of God.
From the scriptures we know He is God but perhaps we do not know why God is in this form similar to us.
Therefore as we are not dismayed that the unlimited understanding of God is to be a never ending knowledge, which we will be acquiring as we go through eternity, neither should we be disappointed that we do not know and will never know all there is to know of the Son of God, as it’s also a ceaseless knowledge.
Therefore to gain the foundation of what the Son of God is, we need to read and believe all the scriptures that pertain to His glorious name.
The Word of God does not specify the type of fish that swallowed Jonah. It only says that it was a great fish.
