Give Me an Answer - Stuart Knechtle Asks, Is It Possible to be Too Skeptical?

  • Program 2023 ................... - The Bible - Gnosticism - Science ..............
Recorded at The University of South Carolina - April 2023
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

What I said about cliff and his son, though, are true, they do get some good answers on some questions, especially when they do it philosophically, but they primarily do it only philosophically, and when it comes to certain questions, they've been asked before. What I enjoy most about Give Me an Answer is the frankness of Cliffe and Stuart regarding the scriptures. They don't sugar coat or gloss over moral issues such as slavery and polygamy. Also, they don't try to convert people to Christianity, but rather tell their audience to be skeptical and read the gospels for themselves. And when Cliffe doesn't have an answer, he always says, "I do not know". That kind of transparency is how Christians should conduct themselves. What a great ministry.

It is not dishonest to say that I can scientifically prove God exists because
Once you realize that Earth IS NOT a spinning ball floating in space, once you realize that Space as we know it from Nasa does not exist,
then it will be much more simple for anyone to see that there is a Creator
The Bible even says "even demons believe"
Atheists are simply lost, dumb souls
      They are deceived by satan
The whole theory of evolution, big bang, gravity, ball earth is a deception made by satan himself,
Scientifically, the globe is a hoax, it does not exist
Earth is stationary and it is the center of creation, and it has leveled surface, exactly as it says in the Bible
Terra is a leveled plane, surrounded by an ice wall and with water above and below the firmament
There is a firmament as it says in the Bible, that divides the waters above from the waters below - the oceans on earth
The book of Enoch which still exists in the Ethiopian Biblical cannon, talks in more details about the shape of Earth and about the Universe
Ethiopia is the first Christian Kingdom in the world, and the oldest bible is in Ethiopia
Mostly, Ethiopia is Orthodox Christian Kingdom
Dinasours never existed, they are a hoax together with evolution and big bang
All the dino bones you see in museums are fake
Dragons and giants and other creatures that The Bible talks about, did exist
There are no aliens, but "angels" and "demons"
The Moon is plasma, it is not solid, all the planets above are luminaries, non solid objects reflected in the firmament
Nasa or Nasha in hebrew means "to deceive". It is a satanic organization together with the majority of the Government.
nasa is satan, Earth is not a planeT, but a plane.
It is all an attempt from satan to make people atheists. The devil is real and he wants your life and your soul.
Look up "top 20 proofs earth is not a spinning ball", I cannot write the name of the channel because my comment will be automatically removed by yt algorithm
Things are much deeper and much worse than you imagine
Once you realize this, you WILL HAVE TO COME TO THE UNDERSTANDING THAT the question is not if there is a creator, the question is who IS GOD?
And unless you come to the CONCLUSION that GOD is YESHUA JESUS CHRIST THE TRINITY THE MESSIAH,
unless you come to this, you are still asleep and not awake
THE OLD TESTAMENT IS THE INTRODUCTION TO JESUS CHRIST THE TRINITY
"I AM THE WAY, THE LIFE AND THE TRUTH"
This is what you NEED to understand
The war is between Christ and satan
And they fight for our souls
JESUS CHRIST THE TRINITY IS THE ONE AND ONLY GOD AND THE ONE AND ONLY WAY
JEWS ARE THE CHOSEN ONES SO THEY SHOULD UNDERSTAND THIS BETTER THAN ANYONE
IF THEY DON'T, THEY ARE ASLEEP AND NOT AWAKE
THE ONLY TRUE CHRISTIANITY IS ORTHODOXY, NOT CATHOLICISM
May God Yeshua Jesus Christ THE TRINITY HELP YOU!

11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
    17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

One of the challenges I have with the Creation story is how and when sin and death entered into the world. If humans evolved over millions of years, at what point did they become morally culpable? Too, when did death become a problem, and did that only apply to humans or also to animals? I'd be interested to hear Cliff's or Stuart's thoughts on this.

    • @kazumakiryu157
      @kazumakiryu157 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Ok. This is a very interesting question and I would also like to hear Cliffe and Stuart's opinion! My response would be, God created the universe and let it run its course with evolution and etc. until modern humans came about and He(God) imbued His image(which is not a physical image but a consciousness and ability to understand reality, like how we do science) on these primates. Then, from there, all the stuff happened and sin entered the world, leaving this new species of primates now culpable for sin due to their knowledge of good and evil. And, I would say animals are innocent and free of sin, because they do not have knowledge of good and evil. If you would like to know more about Genesis and the biblical account of creation and how it makes sense in light of modern scientific discoveries, you can look at Reasons To Believe, an organisation by Dr. Hugh Ross, an astrophysicist.

For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.

God does not owe anyone anything, and He does not need to consult His creation about anything or ask His creation for permission to do this or that! The only argument I have with this is when he says that the parallelism in Genesis 1 is simply one day to the next. I don’t see it as parallelism, but more as a setting of foundations for things to later come. Day 1, God created the light and the darkness, calling them Day and Night; this the foundation for the creation of the Sun and the Moon, which were created on day 4. I mean if God didn’t create the light or darkness, or day and night however you want to call it, then the Sun and the Moon will have nothing to have dominion over. This goes on in day 2 with the separation of the waters of heaven from the waters of the earth with a firmament of what we now call the atmosphere. This is literally the foundation being laid out for the entire population of the planet with plants, animals, and mankind. Sure it may be considered a parallelism but it doesn’t specifically refer to one set day but rather to the rest of the following days of creation. I refuse to believe that when Genesis 1 was written the author was intentionally writing in a poetic manner but rather from a historical perspective. The layout of Genesis 1 is written in a very distinct this happened, then this happened, then this happened format. It is written in a literal historical format. The claim that it was written in a poetic format is a bold statement that creation is open to interpretation, the same way that we interpret poetry to align with the individual audiences perspective. If it was intended to convey an open interpretation then it would have been written in a less direct manner. I greatly respect what you are doing with these young men and women who are genuinely interested and searching for answers about why the world is what it is. God bless you and your family for the wisdom and love that you share with everyone physically in the videos and those who are blessed enough to be able to watch said videos.

@Scarred4life420 Jesus was a historical figure who claimed to be the "Son of God," meaning he was both fully human and fully God. He lived a perfect life as witnesses by thousands, as well as his 12 disciples and the others who assisted his ministry. But despite his perfection and his heart for healing and loving others, his promotion of a societally shattering morality that took the Jewish law further than the leaders of the time thought necessary eventually got him arrested. He was tried, accused of blasphemy by the Jewish leaders, and executed on a cross.
But he demonstrated that he is God by rising from the dead on the 3rd day after his death and burial (he actually predicted his own death and resurrection earlier btw), and after rising from the dead, he appeared to more than 500 people at once over the next few days, including his 12 disciples, a few of whom couldn't believe that he was truly there. They thought they were hallucinating. After that, he ascended to heaven and promised to return again eventually. That's who Jesus is.

Do not self-depreciate yourself, do not think you are unworthy, you are not - those are the lies of the deceiver. Continue to pray for God to help with the addicition, turn it over to Him. Figurative language can be true. When Jesus says, “I am the door” or “I am the light of the world”, he is clearly speaking figuratively, but he is also speaking the truth. New Testament authors do use “figures” of speech like simile, metaphor, parable, etc. It is false to say that if something is not literally true, it’s not true.
Also, the word “literally” comes from “literal”, the first definition of which in Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary is “according with the letter of the scriptures” but can also mean “free from exaggeration or embellishment” or “reproduced word for word”. So if Jesus actually said, “I am the door”, one would be correct in saying that Jesus literally said that. So I would urge people to be careful when using the question, “Do you believe everything in the Bible is literally true.”
So Genesis 1-2 could still, in theory, be poetry or metaphor and still be "literally true." Still, it's so moot of an issue that it's not even worth spending much time on.

@@jessebryant9233 - well, let's start right at the top of the video. Does science answer the question: Is it right to do 'x' (kill your Grandma with Strychnine)?
First off, they edited out the question, so what Cliff gives and answer for, we have to interpret and this gives him the room to wiggle in any direction with his rejoinder. This is a very subtle and mischievous way of sliding between ontology and epistemology at their convenience. Cliff does correctly point out that science doesn't answer questions around ethics (though it can most certainly inform and offer good reasons why any given action can be deemed moral, amoral or immoral). But he then makes the error of somehow implying a god's EXISTENCE is outside the category of ontology and does so very uncleanly by rhetorically asking who & how questions. Things that exist have to be demonstrated by methods that scientific discovery is best suited for, but even more basic, our sensory data (even though this method is much more prone to error). You cannot have an epistemology around any-thing without starting with some-thing ontological. Otherwise your just speaking philosobabble.

Cliffe doesn't "do" the internet, so he's likely not going to see the question, much less answer it. Most people don't bring up Calvinism on the campuses, but I have heard him mention the father who had 2 sons and once over dinner, he told one son "you're going to Heaven" and to the other son he said, "You're going to Hell." Can't remember how he tied the story into the concept of Calvinism though. I probably forgot it because it's so unimportant.
Personally, I think the question of "chosen" breaks down when we try to understand God's unique perspective outside of 4 dimensions of time and space. Because God sees all time at a glance, he can see 10 years from today now. So a 1st Century author might have simply used the word "chose" or "selected" to help readers understand an incredibly difficult to understand subject.

      @paulwilfridhunt 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Without predestination being mentioned in the holy scriptures it’s unlikely we would know of its existence.
Clearly God wants us to know that it exists. And appreciating the knowledge of its existence explains what otherwise might be an unsolvable puzzle.
And the puzzle is the realisation that if we didn’t get the specific life we were given, we probably would not have repented. But is it fair that we got such a life and another didn’t get a life that led to repentance.
In other words if Paul wasn’t thrown off his horse and spoken to by God, we assume he wouldn’t have repented. Why did he get a break and others didn’t? Can we say it’s fair?
Here is an answer. As God knows everything He therefore knows who will repent and who won’t repent. But He also knows that if those who will repent don’t get a life that makes repentance possible, they won’t be able to repent.
Therefore God gives to those ones whom He knows will repent, a life in which they will repent of their own free will, as did Paul the apostle.
This means that without predestination no one would be saved hence the reason for its existence.
My understanding is that the Calvinists don’t realise this and instead believe that God arbitrarily chooses instead of choosing on the basis of merit.
Those of us who are chosen by God were chosen because God knew that it’s what we wanted though we were unaware of it. He knew we would repent.
But let me add this. We who pray for others to be saved are not doing so in vain, because of predestination.
Because God sees the prayers we would pray in the future before He created mankind, and He allows these prayers to contribute to the predestination process, of those yet to be saved. Therefore we still pray beseeching God to save souls.

God created us. We came from Adam and Eve. They were given choice and decided to ignore God's warning. They disobeyed. They were removed from paradise and were fallen. We have the same nature as them when we are born as humans. Unless we are born again. The only way to be born again is to trust in what Jesus did on our behalf, facing God's wrath which we deserved to face even though He lived a sinless life, even to death. Forgiveness of sins is only found in Jesus's name. He then rose again from the grave and is seated at the right hand of the Father until He returns. He was born of a Virgin and fulfilled prophecies about the Messiah handed and conveyed to us by prophets and those influenced by the Holy Spirit. If we are born again, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit and being sanctified until Jesus returns. The Holy Spirit gives us a desire to honor God, He convicts us of sin and helps us to become more like Jesus. Works are evidence of the state of our faith and whether or not our faith is in the right thing. (For example... our works will show when we trust in our own works/obedience rather than trusting in Jesus and our faith leading to delighting in obedience. For example... believing we are set free to sin will lead to no fruit being produced. Both of these things are going to show fruit of dead faith.) Good works are not our response to God's grace. They are what God's grace causes in us when He gives us a new heart and the Holy Spirit.

Exodus 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Genesis 1 is NOT Hebrew poetry. Cliffe is so heretical on his teaching of Genesis 1 as not taking it literal. I can't believe the heresy in some of this man's teachings. I enjoy his philosophical approach to these students, but i deeply disagree with his not taking the Bible literally for what it says. The poetry in the Bible, is very well specified as poetry, so if it's not specified as poetry, then it must be taken literally.

Study the Hebrew culture of when Genesis was written, Bible project has great videos explaining what he means by poetry, it’s not that it didn’t happen, but how could we (humans) possible write down the wonder and beauty of creation by God, if we could then the first pages of genesis would have been a scientific textbook, but it’s not that it being poetry makes it not factual, it’s just how the author of Genesis had to write it for our understanding

@@unashamed6457 the whole basis of the Genesis creation account is engraned into our language. God spoke everything into existence. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Word, and Universe is a compound word, uni-single, verse-spoken sentence, universe means single spoken sentence, God said, Let there be, and it was. That isn't poetry, there is no poetry in Genesis. It's poetic, but not poetry. And Genesis chapters 5 and 10 very clearly, specifically and accurately records how old each man was at the age of his sons birth, and then the age of their deaths, all the way from Adam to Manasseh. And then Moses records in Exodus the 430 years in Egypt, plus 40 years in wilderness to Joshua, then from Judges to 2Kings records the reigns of the judges, kings and all the exiles, and then 400 years of silence until the Lord Jesus Christ. You can add up all of the dates in the Bible and come up with just about 4,000 years from Adam to the Lord Jesus Christ, we are 2,000 years after Christ, that puts us at about 6,000 years of God's creation. A day with the Lord is as a thousand years, a thousand years as one day. Man is appointed 7 days on earth. We have 6 days, 6,000 prophetic years of existence on earth, God rested the 7th day, the Lord Jesus Christ will reign on earth for the Millennial reign, the last thousand years before this heaven and earth are destroyed and cast into the lake of fire. All of the end time prophecies are coming to fruition before our eyes. The Lord Jesus Christ will be returning very soon. No man knows the day or hour, but we will know the season. Keep an eye on Israel, because all of the prophecy is dependant upon them, once they build the third temple, and the peace treaty is signed and broken, the time of Jacob's trouble will begin, the 7 years of tribulation just before the wrath of God comes down and the Lord Jesus Christ establishes His reign on earth. Israel has every single brick already built and labeled, ready to go, to build the temple, they're just waiting on the ok to build, they have the red heifer, and its even stated that they know where the ark of the covenant is, which will be required for the abomination of desolation to occur. I'm not 100% certain about the rapture of the church, but it does make sense, so God can go back to dealing with Israel. But we will see. Now is the time to accept the Lord Jesus Christ, and now is the time to spread the gospel. It is more imperative now than it ever has been. All I'm saying is you can take the Bible for what it says, and literally. You don't need to know Hebrew and Greek to understand it, i have a concordance and study both the languages. The English King James Bible is very much reliable and infallible

I Agree, I misused the term "Poetic" here. I believe God spoke the world into existence and that christ was the word in the flesh, what I meant to say and is what i meant by "poetic" which I misused, was that it wasn't literal 24 hour periods that the original days 1-6 occurred in,
      And another question?
When you say "Man is appointed 7 days on earth" Where did you get that from?
I have heard different studies and hear that we are still in the 7th day.
Also do you read "a day is like a thousand years" as the literal thousand years because you put that it has been 6000 recorded years since adam.
Also I am in full agreement about the prophetic, as many of the signs are being fulfilled.
I'm not trying to start a debate at all, but I am hungry to learn something new or a different perspective!

@@unashamed6457 i believe Genesis 1 is a very specific, accurate and direct telling of creation. Yom in Hebrew means a 24 hour period, except in the prophetic context, then a day means a year. As in Daniel, and Moses with Israel in the wilderness. Genesis chapter 1, in itself is the prophecy of man's timeline on earth. God told Adam, This day thou shalt surely die, and Adam did die 930 years old, within the first thousand years, within a day in God's eyes. Each day of creation also corresponds with events in history. If you just read the Bible, without having ever heard of the day age theory, there's no way you can come to the conclusion that Genesis 1 is not talking about 6 literal 24 hour periods. The Lord Jesus Christ even says Adam was the beginning of all creation. Evolution requires death to bring man into the world. But the Bible very clearly states that because of Adam's sin death came into the world. So its a major heresy to teach that when Adam was created, he was walking around on top of a bunch of dead dinosaurs, and God called that very good. Fossils are evidence of the flood. If death was a part of God's original plan to bring man into the world, why would the Lord Jesus Christ have needed to come down and die to give us eternal life? Do you see the heresies that come with that Bible compromising teaching? The earth and universe may have the appearance of billions of years of growth, but that's just because, as God created a mature man, Adam I'm certain appeared to be about 30 years old when he was 0 days old, that same logic can be applied to the universe, as appearing to be billions of years from growth, when in fact its only 6,000 years old. God created a mature universe, just as He created a mature Adam. God didn't make a baby, toss him some seeds and say, Here get to work, you're going to be hungry soon. Also, i like to think about Adam and Eve didn't have bellybuttons. My point is, we can take the Bible literally for what it says, the Bible is very open and direct when it's poetry, such as the psalms and proverbs, the parables of our Lord Jesus Christ. We can absolutely trust the word of God, and trust that God has preserved His word and translated it into English so we can have it today, in the King James Version. I do believe the other versions have been perverted, and i come to that conclusion based on my own study, but if you'd like to look into that, look up Gail Riplinger seminars on TH-cam, she does cover a great amount of the problems that the other versions create when they mess with God's word. I pray this information helps you, and allows you to be more confident in God's word, and the truth in His word, you can trust God's word and take it for what it says, literally, without compromising to the false evolution religion that is being crammed down everyone's throats through the evolution altars by the evolution priests in the college system.

Now poetry can't be historic? Since when? Second, wrong on Genesis. Major Hebrew scholars agree that the account of Genesis one is historical. When that happened, that's another story. Third, you don't need the sun to calculate the day but the light God created first. You see, the sun follows the light which was already rotating around the Earth on day one.
