These studies are largely accurate because of what happened to me a year ago when I partially tore my posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). This injury led me to stop playing soccer for a year, during which I focused on strengthening exercises for my knee and made several visits to a physiotherapist. Yesterday was my first time back, and although I was a bit apprehensive, everything went well. The reason for my injury was the boots I was wearing, which were designed for natural grass fields, not artificial turf. Guys please take it serious!

My opinion on this topic, is if you're a casual player (non-competitive), then TF is the way to go on all AG/Turf surfaces. Not worth the extra risk to injury for that extra aggression in a game that you're not getting paid for.
Pro tip for Adidas & Puma: Adidas makes an HG/AG version of their boots for specific markets. These are much more suitable for AG than their FG/AG boots. For Puma, they make an MG version. If these aren't specifically available in your market, you should still be able to pick them up from resellers at a really good price.

'f you're a casual player (non-competitive), then TF is the way to go on all AG/Turf surfaces. Not worth the extra risk to injury for that extra aggression in a game that you're not getting paid for.' Fully agree! I would even say - if you are casual player who plays 3 times a week and sometimes on not well maintained, patchy grass pitch, that would work as well. Your knees will thank you and not give up as for many players do.

tore my left ACL/MCL my sophmore year about 6 years ago when i was 16 years old. I'm now 23 years old and tore my right ACL playing on AG fields. It's all we use out here in Northern California and its absolutely crazy that no local stores are carrying Turf Shoes or AG version of cleats..
I wish i knew this years ago... but thank you so much for making this video it helped a lot and most of the AG pitches we have are very old and worn down that they basically feel like turf fields.
I have a pair of Diadora Cleats with cronical studs but they were technically FG boots and i thought i would be okay but i guess not... Will be purchasing an AG Tempo Pro and a Trurf boot as well

I bought a pair of Adidas Team Mundial Turf boots as I train mostly on an AG field. There were 2 problems:
    1. The boots very uncomfortable causing pain in my feet and strain in my knees. Must be some fault in them
and Adidas are giving me a refund.
    2. Like most AG specific boots, they have an overlay around the toes and a thicker sole plate. I found I was
frequently catching my foot on the ground and had to adjust my kicking action - not a good option.
So now I need to buy to buy another pair and I'm leaning towards FG boots conical studs, e.g. Puma King Top.
My reservation is the stud pressure that may cause discomfort.

    • @upper90football_

Turf shoes won't be quiet as optimized for speed due to the less aggressive soleplate. AG cleats (or any cleats with conical studs) would be great for both artificial grass and natural grass. Good examples include the Nike Premier 3, Tiempo Legend 10, Adidas Copa Gloro, NB 442, or any AG model from Nike.

Do you think the few non conical studs on the mercurial ag outsole makes them that much more unsafe, compared to something like the phantom gx ag outsole with all conical studs or is there not a big difference between the two? Thanks

    • @upper90football_
      @upper90football_  ปีที่แล้ว +2

There’s a couple of bladed studs on the heel of the mercurial ag, but since you usually run on your forefoot, it shouldn’t make a big difference for injury risk.
I agree that the full conical soleplate on the phantom is preferable.

It’s not just the studs…it’s the plastic in the sole plate and studs…they aren’t meant to resist abrasion and heat from AG surfaces. It also voids your warranty.

Ive been playing on turf for years
I use firm ground boots when i play on turf and it doesnt bother me at all
Ive never gotten injured nor fell because of the turf
    This is my opinion tho

Well..that’s anecdotal. You can also drive for years without a seat belt and never go flying through your windshield…..until you know, the day you actually do.

you are lucky. Research shows something opposite. Micro injuries will aggregate and you might have knees problems when much older.

Bullshit. The best football shoes were: adidas F50 F10, F10, +F10 TRX TF. "The best products are no longer manufactured, but are customized only for the great football players."
