I'll be honest when I put on certain boots, I feel my touch is improved and the technique in my shot is better. When I put on the Alpha's for example, my shooting is just naturally better than when wearing other boots. But on the flip side, when dribbling and doing sharp turns, it feels more precise in something like a vapor or neo 4. Of course this is all down to technique, but whatever is going on, I definitely feel better in some boots doing certain things than others
Oh I'm with you on this one, but again, this is probably all in your head. That's not a bad thing, and if you can find that boot which will give you a mental boost - whether it's then actually true that it makes you dribble better or not - then you're winning. Giving you more confidence might make you play a bit more free, which is what works for me when I find a boot that I like. /Jay
@@unisportyeah but I wear tiempo legend 10, I score light 8 goals in one match for academy, but when I play with my mercurial, I play really bad because I am pressured using new boots and always have this thought, “What if I turn so bad with this boot?” (I’m a LW/RW/LWB/RWB btw)
Boots don't transform you from a bad player to a great one, but a good boot that fits well and suits your preferences can definitely enhance your experience, and for me getting the best shaped boot that matches your foot shape really enhances my touch and experience.
@sabiaep77 yeah, totally agree with that. Aura is a good way to describe it, there's that inexplicable amazing feeling that comes with putting on a high-end pair of boots. But again, it's a feeling, and the boot itself won't make you better just because it's expensive. /Jay
Many challenges in sport often have a mental aspect to them. I watch and learn a lot of Neymar and Gareth Bale and when I play I try to copy some of their moves and skills/awareness etc. Haha - Of course, I am not them but invoking their spirit from the videos while playing definitely helps me on the pitch and I would be surprised if I was alone there. Was the same when I studied Beckham and his passing/free kicks. I learned so much just by watching him make those kicks and so on the pitch, I need to invoke. This is the same with boots. Generally speaking I need to wear white boots, preferably with a overlapping tongue. I cannot wear black because it just evokes memories of old style football so I would feel like I play like an 80's footballer if I wore them. 😂. I cannot wear huge shin pads either. I hate wearing over sized football shirts or tight shorts or badly designed/coloured shirts. Those are just some of things I feel make me not play to the best of my ability. You're right though, some of the myths are a bit crazy. The laceless boots I particularly hate. I don't think they are at all practical. I think it's like a video you did a while ago - if you feel good, you look good, then you feel like a better player. It is all in the head most of the time but so is a lot of sport.
What I will say about speed boots is that if you’re not used to wearing speed boots they do make you feel quicker but that’s because 9/10 times they have a more aggressive sole plate, so it’s more about the sole plate and studs
This might sound weird, but to me, wearing a light-color boot makes me feel better and in a cooler mindset. My favorite boot to wear now (TF) is the older Future generation (2023) - the yellow ones, from the Voltage pack. But color-aside, they are the better boot for my foot and size after trying on Phantom GX, Preds (Edge & Freak) & Copa Sense.

I bought my first ever and probably only ever expensive boots at 34 years old. I wanted them for the more comfortable fit and for the soleplate. Was worth it already. They'll probably last me till retirement now.
My first pair of high end boots were the old David Beckham signature Predator Pulse shoes (the white and blue ones). and they weren't just the most comfortable boot, they lasted me forever. like a good 4+ years of regular useage. Hell i would still wear them even to play Australian Rules Football if there wasn't a massive hole in the side of them. SInce then I've just always tended to prefer Higher End boots. I even wear the Tiempo Pro 10's and my only real complaint is that they aren't leather. Otherwise theyv'e held up to being worn 2-3 times a week for multiple hours at a time while some of my teammates are on pair 2 for the season cause their cheap takedowns just wear out quickly.
The one comment I'd make with regards to overall play and weight. Much like running, a lighter shoe over a games worth of running can actually help with fatigue. Even a few grams over thousands of steps makes a difference.
Psalms 18:2 and Psalms 73:26: "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my strength, in whom I trust. Though my flesh and my heart may fail, God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."!!!
The whole reason i got tiempos its cause it protects my feet and i buy them small cause once i got them true to size and i couldn’t dribble or shoot and i woukd constantly get blisters so i size down for better shooting and dribbling and use tiempos as a attacker/midfielder
Ok Jay. The Pred Edge callout was unnecessary. You should’ve talked about adidas going from the Powerswerve to the Pred X. Or Copa 20 to Copa Sense. Leave my beloved Edge’s out of this 😂
the edges were horrendous unless you had homo habilis shaped feet, the upper, while stiff initially and very interfered by the grip elements, actually broke in and softened up nicely over time

I kinda disagree with the speed one I had a Nike legend tiempo academy and I felt really slow, when I wore mercurials with blades I legitimately felt much faster
Exactly - it's all about the feeling. Will the lighter Mercurial with a more aggressive stud pattern MAKE YOU faster?
