  • @royalbookshopper

    A roomba is more of a glorified broom. It doesn't have much suction, but it does totally replace sweeping the floor with a broom. I have four cats, indoor only, and lots of cat fur. I am totally happy with the roomba, it sweeps all my floors two or three times a week, and when I want a deeper clean, I haul out my vacuum and vacuum. With a wrecked back, the Roomba is absolutely the thing you want in your house. P.S. Hey you two in the video, both of your arguments and statements are valid, and in fact, Roombas and vacuums are apples and oranges, not really comparable at all.

  • @SemmyRace
    @SemmyRace 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is pretty good!
    The problem with the room a is that it's "stupid", it just bounces around, and sometimes after half an hour there are still dusty spots in a room. It works fine in dream apartments with no objects in the way, but in real life it isn't good for rooms where there's stuff stacked or tight corners like kids bedrooms. You NEED another cleaning method if you have a roomba: it doesn't take the place of a vacuum, it's just an extra. Get a Vorwerk Folletto (or whatever it's named in your country): it's very pricey, but it's another cleaning experience

    • @vince086
      @vince086 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Folletto looks like a rebranded Neato botvac, love the smart navigation and suction on those things. Only downside is the noise.

    The only negative of Roomba is its price, everything else has no real competition. I had a borrowed Roomba for a while, and it's awesome. One less chore to do, and those who live alone, know how much time it takes just keeping the place clean. And it does a really good job also. Would buy it right now if I had money to spend.

    I have a Shark IQ with a self-emptying base, no bags. I bought it "like new", so I got hundreds of dollars off. Less than $300. I love the robot vacuum for the most part. Yes, it doesn't do my blinds or my ceiling or my couch, but I love how clean my floors are. They aren't as powerful as the regular vacuum, but the floors get done daily and I didn't vacuum even once a week before. Very noticeable how much cleaner my floors are. Love it.

    We've been using Kirby vacuums in the funeral homes for as long as I can remember. I'm going to stay with them. The disposable bags take a long time to fill and don't lose suction. I don't think a Rhoomba could do the job of picking up flower petals and normal foot traffic. I was born with a vacuum in my hand, as my parents had me cleaning and cutting grass as soon as I stopped crawling, lol.

    Nowadays (2020) you can get a great “off brand” roomba for less than $250 on amazon. We have kids and having it automatically clean the entire floor very night changed our lives! As for the 2nd floor it’s not hard to just bring it up the stairs and then let it do it’s thing 🤷🏻‍♂️ although we do the second floor only once a week since it stays cleaner.

    If you have a dog with long fur( like golden Retriever), the hair is going to clogging your Roomba. I have to disassemble the whole brush assembly and, the funniest part? I have to use a "dumb" vacuum to suck out all the unreachable hair and dust.

    A roomba is okay if you set it to clean once every day, they can help maintain some of the dust in the house. That being said, a normal vaccum works better because even with a roomba, it doesn't get get tight corners and at times it gets stuck under stuff all the time.

  • @luismiguel69able

    I find the Roomba to be SUBSTANTIALLY better at cleaning. It is also way easier to maintain. It runs daily and maintains cleanliness much better than a regular vacuum. It is easy to clean the rollers and empty the bin (like clearing dryer lint).

      So what that it's old? My neighbor still uses a vacuum from the 50's!!

    Okay but if I have a roomba run every other day, then I have overall cleaner floors and no need for a bigger dustbin. Plus, it saves time as you yourself don't have to vacuum yourself. But it isn't something to use all alone, it is best to pair with a stick vacuum for above-floor cleaning.
    plus I mean roborock have been making killer vac+mop combos

    I have a roomba and was euphoric about it for a while.
    Then I realised that in order to give it a chance to do a good cleaning (in corners, under the tables, etc.) I had to move a LOT of things in advance (staple the chairs on the tables, hide the cables, etc., etc.).
    In the end it was so much work that the bit of vacuuming left in between moving furniture around was nearly the same.
    Now the roomba lives a calm, retired life in the corner.

    Twin sisters, great explanation for pro and cons versus the rumba. How long does the battery last for ( mean lifetime 2 years ?)

    It's best if you work hand in hand with robot vacuum.

    Imagine if could program Roomba to make random noises as it moves. Of course people would tell it to do beeping noises from Star Wars.

    A roomba is a thousand times easier to take up stairs than a vacuum.
    The roomba is better in every way, but costs a butt load.

    Had a roomba when they first came out. Expensive! Mum got a Dyson. Much easier. A mere human can operate a dyson with ease. Amazing, eh? Oh, yea,....the dyson has some very user-friendly tools that can be used to clean difficult corners and nooks and crannies.

    I guess the Roomba isn't a direct replacement but it can be considered as a time saving tool. Have it do most of the work while you do the steps, couches, curtains and other tight spaces where the Roomba wouldn't normally be able to get to. I can see myself using a Roomba to save time; but is it worth the price?
